Eruption finally nerfed , Thx Devs

First, Eruption will now cause the generator to lose 10% of its current progress, not total. This means the effect will be less severe on generators with less progress, but more impactful on generators that are nearly completed. Second, Eruption will no longer apply the Incapacitated effect to Survivors who were repairing the generator when it exploded. Instead, Survivors who are actively working on the generator will scream and reveal their aura to the Killer for 10 seconds. Not only will this make the perk less frustrating for solo players, but it will also give the Killer crucial information on the other Survivors’ whereabouts so they can attempt to interrupt them.

Thoughts? i was already using distortion every now and then and this seems like a solid benefit to it

    It's now a dead perk.

Meaning that...we'll be seeing 50%+ Pain Resonance usage rates, so that's next.

    Sigh.

I hope you're all very, very proud of yourselves.

Now imagine you're a killer player, and are seeing more and more straight up hard genrush squads.

Welcome to the new killer meta - which is going to be more stale than the pre 6.1.0 Ruin/PR meta.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3341190#Comment_3341190

Except that every single one of those perks is still a very solid, very viable pick.

Eruption is now about on par with the new Pop. It's...crap.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3341108#Comment_3341108

Is this really an improvement to game health? I think it's the exact opposite.

We'll now have a killer meta that is basically one build. Even pre 6.1.0 wasn't that bad.

    Ugh.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3341168#Comment_3341168

It's going to be terrible. You'd be better off running Surge on those killers. Or, better yet, Pain Resonance. On everyone.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3341174#Comment_3341174

It's 10% of aura reading at a time where you really don't need it.

The only thing this will enable is...yup, yet again - heavy slugging on Nurse or Blight. Which they can already do with FOR or IF.

ofc. Because remember patch 6.1 and a few days after it hit? 3.5 out of 4 kills per game? On average? This taught survivors that it's genrush or death. And even after genrush meta - killrate is still way above 50%. So why are you even surprised that survivors genrush?

Also I do play killer too. Just today I had 1 game of survivor and 1 game of killer. Well it should be no surprise both games ended in 4K... If you want to win, killer games are way to go (even if they are overall not as entertaining).

But sure. If we want to have balanced games, there will need to be adjustments. Nerf also CoB a little, do not outright kill eruption (at least return 10% flat instead of current) and nerf a little genrush perks/BNP's.

  • It's necessary to nerf it hard in order to stop the awful playstyle where people do nothing but kick gens for 30+ minutes. People abused it and it got taken out back behind the shed. Least surprising nerf ever.

  • It doesn't make the perk "less frustrating against solo players", it just straight up kills it. You won't see the perk ever again.

  • 2 survivors die, down the 3rd will reveal aura for the 4th survivor for 10sec. Its litterally a slugging perk for 4K.

The perk cause less than 9sec per Gen, I would say the average would be 5-6sec regression per Gen at best. I feel the perk is not Gen perk anymore, its more of info one.

  • Just happy the incap is gone. That was what bothered most people. Curious to see what everyone starts running since they can't rely on Eruption anymore.

It's absolutely not a useful perk outside of a very specific playstyle that *BHVR have already clearly indicated they will be removing*.

Hence the baseline UB thing that, while not confirmed, definitely means that some change is coming.

How on earth is this useful outside of a high mobility killer that's looking to hard slug? The regression is utter garbage and the aura reading is going to be useless for anything else.

It's BBQ and Chili with regression wrapped into a perk. It gives tracking and augments other slowdowns. If you pair it with Pain Res, you have the gen in question revealed with Eruption and plenty of time to get there unless you took a chase to Narnia. And you shouldn't be able to take chases to Narnia and still lock gens across the map, which is why Eruption was problematic in the first place.

A gen is 90 charges. 10% means it knocked off 9 seconds of progress. At 10% current, that means you are barely knocking off 4.5 seconds on a gen that is half complete. They pretty much made this perk useless. They should have kept it at 10% total (and revert the pop nerf too like really?) and made it so they screamed, it blocked the gen for like 10 seconds, and gave them the aura for 10 seconds.

The math for this perk doesn't add up anymore, lets say the gen is really close to being done (eruption doesn't actually show you the progress it gets rid of) then survivor screams and you see their aura, but you just downed someone. So you can either not hook them, slug, and go to the other survivor, or hook them. But if you hook them, the perk basically gave you no value, because it is gonna take you at least 10 seconds (if not longer) to hook them, meaning all it did was erase the progress the survivor would have got while you were hooking them. Very very low value.

Gen kick meta is dead, next up is Pain res/Surge/Pop (for killers who have a high usage power that cant use surge) until that gets nerfed too.

    Actually 89.9

    10% of 89.9= 8.99

They start running PR and DMS. More M1 Killers will most likely run jolt also. If you want to run a gen-kicking build I say the go-to build will be Nowhere to Hide, CoD, Overcharge, and maybe Pop.

Mark my words tho most killers will run PR + DMS and when they do you see survivors flooding the forums how boring it is to go against a PR+DMS killer and then the dev will nerf that into the ground just like they did with so many others overused killer perks. You may say they won't bc PR+DMS is fair but the devs don't care about fairness. They care about making sure survivors are happy and things are not overused. Look at other fair perks and add-ons that end up getting nerfed bc their pick rates were too high and perks that were complained about a lot. Twins addon, Nemmy addons, Ruin, Pop, Overcharge, and Thana. Some Twin and Nemmy addons were nerfed bc they were used way too much not bc they were OP. Ruin/Pop was very fair before 6.1 but was nerfed/gutted bc they wanted to "shake up" the meta. Thana buff was overturned combined with the gen time increase but instead of taking it back down to it pre 6.1 numbers they just nerf it to the worst state. Overcharge was buff but in the PTB it was too much when used with CoB so they nerfed it before it went live. Now you have to use it with CoB to make it somewhat decent.

  • The ONLY problem eruption had was the inability to do anything - that's just not engaging nor fun. No one was complaining about the damage eruption did. This is a SIGNIFICANT nerf to gen control with this change, and imho, an overnerf. Here's why. With this nerf, it's gen control potential got nerfed TWICE. It's losing preventing 30 SECONDS of repair time. That's a HUGE nerf already That's a loss of 33% repair time PER survivor affected (as survivors hit would be preventing from repairing for 30 seconds). On TOP of that, now it loses 10% of it's current progress. That means if the gen is at 50%, it's doing a mere 5%...and that's on a perk that not only has a cooldown, but also requires the killer to spend time to stop and manually kick the generator. That is a MASSIVE nerf making this a practically useless perk for gen regression and instead moves it to an info perk.

I'll say again, though, no one had a problem with the damage the perk does. It already did minor damage, and it required kicks. That's a lot to pay for just to get a small 10% reduction (with a cooldown, mind you!). Now it will ALWAYS be less than how it was pre-nerf. I agree the survivor disabling effect should have gone away, but you shouldn't have double dipped and also removed it's regression potential. That is a 33% potential nerf (depending if a survivor got hit with the effect), and a guaranteed loss of regression swapping it to CURRENT progress. This is an absolutely terrible balance pass on this perk. Revert CURRENT progress to a flat 10%.

The problem wasn't that the perk was overpowered - the problem was it wasn't fun to go against ("Go stand in a corner for 30 seconds!"). Re-balance the perk where it's still as powerful, but remove the unfun element from it while compensating for the loss.

I think it'll be more niche now which is fine, you don't play this on every killer anymore but I like it for Billy, Oni and Myers. It's a variation of infectious fright now with a little bit of regression.

Yeah. After watching a build video I realized Eruption is good on killers like Billy, Blight, Oni, etc because it encourages using your power for downs

hence why i said "increase". eruption at least made the killer leave to kick at least one at most 3 gens to get value out of it. now there is NO reason to kick gens, passive gen regression perks are better, and promote tunneling.

Eruption was good for tunneling hook survivor go kick gen and comeback to tunnel. But I still think it was bit overnerfed.

  • 10% progress as before and 25sec aura on the survivor is what they should have done if they were going to go this route. Gives enough time to get the downed survivor to a hook and get in the vicinity of the gen and see where the survivor hides or the direction they bolt when they hear the terror radius. Gen regression amount is garbage now like Pop, and the aura duration is pretty much done by the time you hook the downed survivor. You already know which gen they were on due to the scream and knowing what gen you kicked, so the aura is pretty worthless at 10 sec.

Hopefully they finally deal with perks like prove/hyperfocus and addons like bnps next

No good regression perks vs no good gen speed perks is way better for survivors. All the regression that's left, outside of being in a position to completely snowball PGtW and keep whacking the same nearly-finished gen, is PR. That's 15%. That buys you 13.5s.

Remember that the mere action of hooking someone is 1.5s.

It's only really viable because of DMS giving you time to do something.

13s to get from a possibly-out-of-the-way hook to a gen is barely enough time for downing someone even with instadowns.

  • Uhm... I can't be the only one, who realizes how insanely ######### this perk is gonna be? Game health? This PROMOTES slugging. I thought slugging was such a bad thing that we wanted to make less prominent? Seems I was wrong, then. Can't wait for base kit UB as well to make that perk entirely pointless.

Even then this perk is awful. It is a weaker version of Infectious Fright. I do not need 10s of aura vision on a survivor that works on a gen across the map. I do not need 10s of aura vision on a survivor that will be over after I hooked the one I just downed. Keep in mind this only works on gens you kicked. The regress is pretty meh and easily overshadowed by Jolt because you don't need to kick the gen in the first place.

I didn't use Eruption before but this is ridiculous. The 10s aura reading are great in theory but that's about it. Have fun kicking gens to get a meaningless regress and an aura on a survivor that you can only use effectively, if you commit to slugging.

There is a difference between nerfing a perk and making it pointless. This fits the latter pretty well imo.

  • PR and DMS will barely work now when survivor can see you carrying survivor unless they blind. Good luck

  • they need to undo the change to current progress. the perk's problem was applying incapacitated to everyone. hell, they could even rework incapacitated to only affect doing gens, i'm not sure why it makes you stop doing everything else (healing, totems, opening chests, etc.)

Because the status is normally associated with Victor.

  • It is going to be garbage, look how they masacred Pop Goes the weasel, it's going to reveal survivor auras yeah right, the auras will probably last 4 seconds because Nurse exists, and it will be useless info since you need to hook the survivor

Agreed on the slugging part. Can't wait to see the survivors who are happy about this nerf come in complaining about how a blight or a nurse slug them so they can get value out of the 10s aura reading.

  • they made Eruption worse than Pop Goes the Weasel and nobody uses that perk, they may as well have removed it from the game entirely lmao

    hopefully Dead Hard is next

it's not useless. This one will negate sabotage games. Also if you decide to slug, you have your target ready. It's good info. It's just way less useful on most killers (but huntress, nurse, blight and maybe even spirit will still use it). There are better perks now. But it does not mean the perk is bad (same can be said about let's say dragon's grip).
