Tunneling won't cease unless killers fear it. - 30 sec DS stun

It is ridiculously unfun being tunneled out of the game within first few minutes, just because the killer can and fears nothing. 3 vs 1 is automatic killer win in most scenarios. Reducing the DS stun from 5 to 3 seconds was a green light from BHVR (who mentioned they wanted to counter tunneling btw) to killers to tunnel rampantly. I've seen and experienced 3 second DS stuns, they don't give the survivors time to gain distance.

There is nothing to incentivize many killers to go for someone else, since that requires them to take 2 health states away from someone. Why do that when you can just take 1 from the person who just got unhooked (unless ofc they're running Off the Record, but most killers don't seem to care). If you want to curb tunneling, make it a high risk for killers, since successful tunneling is a high reward.

Some people say that a 30 second stun would be ridiculous. I'd say make DS active for 40 seconds (down from 60), so the killers don't get DS-ed by simply forgetting that the survivor was hooked a little bit before the another one they just hooked. The DS will have expired by then, but in case of intentionally tunnelling killers, it will punish them.

So, what do you guys think? Are you tunelers who hate this idea (ofc you would)? Or do you have other suggestions for disincentivizing killers from tunneling? The killers got huge buffs in the last Midchapter, and then surely hasn't helped against tunneling/camping. Making the game easier for killers don't seem to matter, tunneling is still the easier route.

  • and then a survivor aggressively uses ds. in these 30 seconds where the killer is unable to move, 33% of 4 different gens can be done. now that is balance.

what they could do, is make it better to not tunnel than to tunnel

  • if a killer is tunneling you just tell you r mates to push gens and if you keep him tunneling you for 2-3min all gens are done. If a killer really is only going for you and you can loop him just for a bit its allways a 3man escape so tunneling is not op you just need counter play it.

WIth aggressive use of DS, the killer sees what's happening and knows that the survivor is baiting a DS. Just slug the survivor that does that.

99% of time I play in solo queue. I can't really communicate anything to my teammates. Not to mention that Deadlock and Pain res + DMS combo makes the gen slow.

then they use unbreakable, and the killer has done nothing since the original hooking of that survivor, and then the killer loses the game, because theres a completely uncounterable, ridiculously op perk.

i dont know how you think this could possibly be a good idea

thats you problem. you will never play as good as you would like to in game with 4 teammates without talking to them. just join any dbd discords and play 4man swf otherwise this will happen over and over again.

  • I don't get it you're asking for a 30 seconds stun ? They could revert DS to 5 seconds and maybe add something like no scratch marks for 5sec and that's enough, current DS is worthless but you can't buff it too much

  • Look I hate tunneling and I do think it’s a problem but a 30 second DS stun is just ridiculous. No stun should last that long.

  • "Why does BHVR not listen to community ideas?"

    The community’s idea:

When survivors tunnel gens they force the killer to tunnel someone out of the game.

What you need to ask for is for the killer objective to take less time or the survivor objective to take more time.

  • So you just want killers to slug everyone so they can't be hit with a 30 second ds?

DS should be basekit and no longer a perk. This way they can adjust it as they wish. But that's the case for majority of perks.

  • Ds should allow survivors to mori the killer

  • And NOED kills all Survivors once the 5th Generator is finished if they don't cleanse all Totems on the Map. There are also now 15 Totems per Map

  • I really hope you forget a /s

As a survivor main that hates tunnel/camp and that would be willing to add some ridiculous punishments for camp/tunnel (as I consider them game-breaking things). I think this idea is just ridiculous. 30s DS in more then you need to get away and then some. I mean... I think they should have buffed DS instead of nerfining it in 6.1 (duration, not EGC part). But anything above 10s is just pure madness. 7-8s would have been very nice buff.

  • Laurie Strode deserves all the meta perks but I’d just be happy with the 5 seconds back lol

    yeah, cool story.

So the game should be made for killer to fear survivors. Got it.

    Let's move on lol

You can't agressively use DS? That has always been BS. As a killer, you can just down someone and not pick them up.

Now 30 seconds is ridiculous but 5 baseline, and 10 with DS sounds reasonable.

Killers need to fear DS. Tunneling will be used even when not tunneling becomes more effective. We need an actual punishment.

I'm sure you would like that :))

  • Despite being an obvious joke post. There is nothing wrong with tunneling a survivor put of the game to gain the upper hand.

  • This is a good shitpost, but in reality DS just needs to be basekit. Buffed back to 5 seconds, and deactivate at endgame. That coupled with the now basekit bt should be more than enough to discourage toxic gameplay.
