Hey, I have a friend and he wants to play but he’s 15.
The game said it’s 18+ but otherwise kids are alowed if parents say yes.

If people under 18 could be banned just for that, this game would have 5k avg players online instead of 40k.
No, he won't be banned.
Ratings are more of a who you can sell to, and given parents permission you can play pretty much any game you want, there is also no way for them to verify.
At least in my country, the rating only prevents stores from selling to these ages, it does not however prevent a parent or guardian from purchasing the game for the child.
Legally, no. He isn't allowed to purchase the game, nor is anyone allowed to purchase it for him. As per BHVR's EULA (https://deadbydaylight.com/en/eula) "RESTRICTIONS OF AGE MAY BE IMPOSED TO ACCESS ONLINE SERVICES AND FEATURES IN COMPLIANCE WITH LOCAL LAWS". Essentially meaning that it is entirely possible your friend could have their access restricted.
However, that would need someone to report them for it, and to have ample proof to do so- after all, the principle of "Innocent until proven guilty" applies to most legal situations in Canada.
afaik age ratings don't matter if it's the parents that purchase the game for the user, they aren't legally enforceable unless you are the store owner or sales person selling the game to someone underaged.
im almost certain that similar principles apply to anything age restricted, be it alcohol, cigarettes, or video games, however i definitely could be mistaken. haven't learnt that one yet and i dont know if we'll go over it for this spec, sadly- but hopefully ill be able to conclusively know within a few years
yeah he isn’t allowed to buy it at some stores. But parents are allowed to let their kids play what ever they want.
ESRB ratings are guide lines and nothing else. They have no legal authority and are just a private group. The devs would be silly in a business sense to not accept any customer willing to give them money as long as nothing prohibits it.

Oh, the parents can allow the child to play it, but legally they aren't allowed to purchase it with the specific intent of giving it to a child, to the best of my knowledge.
But if an adult purchases a video game, be it digitally or a physical copy, without a child near them acting all excited absolutely nobody would bat an eyelid.
You can just google it, almost all instances of people talking about pegi ratings talk about the sale of a game to someone under the age ratings.
