Why is leaving a match prematurely such a big deal?

I get if you a serial offender then there should be repercussions. But if your teammates are acting like dipshits, or the killer refuses to hook you, and overall the game is just a waste of time then I think you should be able to have at it without penalty.

    Pretty much what he said.

  • Because you ######### over 4 or you ######### over 3

  • Dammit stay in the match and fight it out.

It builds character, just like working on your birthday...

  • Also because it was happening all the time, before the dc ban was implemented, if you went into a match you were almost guaranteed that someone would leave over something so silly.

Why wouldn't they? There was no drawback in doing so.

Now at the very least they have to wait for 5 minutes before doing it again.

Did you have to work on your birthday? Why didnt you take the day off 🥺

because if theres no dc penalty the match quality takes a nose dive

You make it sound like match quality is better with the DC penalty. Spoiler alert its still pretty bad XD

Because it makes you a selfish jerk.

  • Y'know, it's a bit unsettling to see how the OP made it clear that their 'teammates' already playing without them, and people still say 'it's unfair cause you screw other the others chances'...

The disconnect penalty should just be removed. If the killer is playing especially dirty and camping/tunneling/slugging early in the match, you should be allowed to leave the match with no repercussions. No one wants to play against a broken killer running broken perks and they shouldn’t be forced to.

Thank goodness you can easily avoid the disconnect penalty by killing yourself on first hook.

So if the Killer is trying to win, you should be allowed to quit like a child throwing a temper tantrum?

YOU. You are the reason leaving the match prematurely is such a big deal. It is you and the thousands like you with no courtesy or respect for the other people playing the match.

  • Well of course, it's situational. If your teammates are a bunch of blendettes who left you to die on first hook and only saved you at the last moment, and then refused to do the gen and self cared against sloppy butcher, then yes, scram.

But most of the time, it's the newbie who pre-opens the exit gate and makes a run for it before everybody else is gone. That royally screws over your teammates by taking one survivor out of the synergy.

5 Mins is not such big of a deal.

  • Remove the penalty! As a killer i support this. I'm tired of playing on haddonfield. with twins the swamp is a pain as well with victor being so short so d/c there as well. Survivors pop 2 or 3 gens really fast d/c, no point in going on. I like this idea. also if survivors d/c great! makes my job so much easier.

No recpercussions. Except for the teammates you screw over who might want to play the match out, not de-pip, and -- gasp -- who might have a chance to beat said killer if the match wasn't turned into a 3 v. 1 off the bat because your myopic viewpoint decided that what YOU wanted trumps what anyone else wants in said match.

Yep -- seems fair. 🙄 I don't play a ton of solo survivor -- it's to avoid players like you that I and so many others play in a SWF group as often as we can -- but when I do, I only hope to never have you on my "team", since that word is one you apparently don't care about.

  • The d/c penalty makes no difference in the quality of games. People either intentionally die on hook or straight up give up. Or they d/c anyway. D/cs are way down and people pointing at the hook and refusing to play are way up. Wow. Good thing they can't d/c. Makes a huge difference right there. Killer is standing in the corner pouting and refusing to play because gens went too fast. D/c penalty really taking care of the issues here.

If a killer decides to bring overpowered perk combinations such as Ruin/Undying/Pop/Tinkerer along with broken add-ons such as Mother-Daughter Ring, Wraith All-Seeing, Alchemist Ring, Clown Ether 15, they have ensured their own victory because these perks and add-ons provide the killer with a free win and cheat survivors out of a fair match. This is only compounded by the fact that killers can employ cheap tactics such as tunneling and camping to make winning even easier. Why should a survivor have to suffer through a match that will inevitably end with the killer sacrificing everyone?

The dc penalty serves no purpose but to keep survivors trapped in a hopeless match. Remove the dc penalty immediately.

"If survivors decide to bring overpowered perk combinations like Unbreakable/Iron Will/Dead Hard/Decisive Strike/Sprint Burst/etc. along with broken items like skeleton keys coupled with hatch offerings and Commodius Toolboxes with BNP's, along with broken map offerings like Haddonfield or the new Game map, then they have ensured their own victory because these perks and add-ons provide the survivors with free wins and cheat killers out of a fair match. This is only compounded by the fact that the survivors can employ cheap tactics such as sharing info via comms, bodyblocking, saboing hooks, and flashlight saving in groups to make winning even easier. Why should a killer have to suffer through a match that will inevitably end with the survivors all escaping easily and teabagging them at the exit gates?"

I assume you're okay with that approach as well, right? If not, you're a complete hypocrite. No problem with the killer DC'ing with no penalties the minute any of above come into play, and sending the survivors back to their 10 minute lobby simulator game after barely getting a chance to play the game? I mean, not everyone in the match is going to feel that way, but it's all about what one person -- you -- wants out of the five people who want to actually play the game, right?

    Sheesh.

  • You ruin the game for people if you dc thats why

  • Disconnects should be used only in emergencies or while experiencing game breaking bugs or rule breaks that make it impossible to continue the game (which is why the penalty starts out slow). Just because you dislike a round that is happening does not mean you can just DC without any consequences - it ruins the game for four other people still. There will always be games people might not have fun while experiencing them, but that can vastly differ from person to person as not everyone is the same.

I will be locking this thread, as it's rather asking to allow rule breaking behavior, which won't happen - DC penalty is here to stay and DCs have greatly reduced since it's implementation overall (BHVR has posted stats in the past).
