The Issues Are Being Fixed With The Twins!

Blog Post - https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/207426/

Please note that the changes listed below are tentative. Their release date and exact details are subject to change

RELEASE

The Twins

  • Made the map-wide sound when Victor is released clearer.
  • After being attached to a Survivor for 45 seconds, Charlotte will see Victor’s aura and be able to recall him.

Sometimes a Survivor would keep Victor on their back to prevent the Killer from using their power. This way, there is a great risk to doing so and the Killer has the ability to forcefully regain their power after some time.

  • Replaced the Spinning Top add-on effect: This add-on will now cause Survivors to drop their items when pounced on by Victor.
  • Increased Victor’s movement speed while charging a pounce, and increased the amount of time it takes to reach this movement speed.

Due to the slow movement speed while pouncing, hitting a Survivor with Victor while they are around a small enough loop/object could be very difficult. These two changes while cause you to lose less distance while charging your pounce, making it easier to use in those situations.

Perks

  • Coup de Grace: Reduced the lunge increase from 60/80/100% to 40/50/60%.

The values for Coup de Grace on the PTB were higher than anticipated. We’ll be reducing them to a more reasonable level.

FUTURE UPDATES / HOTFIX

The Twins

  • Victor will be able to interact with lockers and hold a Survivor inside for a short amount of time. If Charlotte interacts with the locker in time, she will grab the Survivor. If the Survivor is not grabbed out of the locker in time, they will break free, killing Victor in the process.

During the PTB, Survivors realized that they can jump in a locker to avoid Victor since he is unable to search lockers. To prevent this, we’ll be giving Victor a unique interaction with lockers. This will take some animation work, however, so this will not be ready for the initial release.

  • Adding a delay to the Exit Gate blocker when a Survivor is downed with Victor on their back.

Currently, the Exit Gate blocker disappears immediately if a Survivor with Victor on their back is downed. This allows them to crawl out before Charlotte can finishing wiping her weapon. This delay ensures that the Survivor can be picked up before the blocker disappears.

Perks

  • Appraisal: The speed bonus no longer applies to unlocking a chest, only rummaging.
  • Appraisal: Each chest can only be rummaged once per Survivor.

This change prevents someone from rummaging the same chest multiple times, creating a large pile of items. We want to encourage people to move around the map and rummage different chests. The overall number of times you can rummage is unchanged.

Again, we want to reiterate that these changes are tentative. The exact details and times for these changes may vary from the list above. We hope these changes address any concerns you may have had, and we can’t wait for you to get your hands on Chapter 18!

Comments

  • I don't get why they're nerfing Coup de Grace, it was already quite limited in terms of what you could do with it.

  • Can't wait to try them.

  • ...eh. They still sound incredibly weak. Chances are Victor is far away and "short amount of time" makes me think 20 seconds or less with the way the devs word things. Lockers should keep the survivor stuck in them until a teammate helps.

There's also still no downside to keeping Victor and screwing the killer out of their power.

Also LOL nerfing Coup De Grace. Probably one of the least interesting or viable perks they've ever added.

Coup de grace is gearhead tier.

  • POV: New Coup De Grace

IMO they shouldn't have nerfed it, maybe made the perk lunge faster instead of longer, this makes the same distance as the perk does anyways, however quicker and does not cause the perk to look like the killer is cha cha sliding towards you

  • These are really good changes, I love them. Can't wait for twins to release.

Although only thing I miss is the ability to climb (and survive) on debris/walls, pity the decided it's not important and didn't include it.

  • It's a step in the right direction, but it doesn't really address the core issue with this killer. It takes the Twins twice as long as other killers to perform basic actions like hooking. They're going to have a massive efficiency problem.

  • Also, noticed no changes to switching back to Charlotte, completely throwing potential mindgames with Victor and Charlotte out of the window and removing a potential playstyle

  • CDG was clearly getting changed, so not surprised with that.

Killer changes need to be in action before judging how effective they are.

I was worried reading the Appraisal changes at first, but it's actually not so bad. The item depots you could create by using all your token on the same chest was the kind of silliness that should stay in PTBs. I'll still enjoy the perk when it comes out.

  • A survivor is still able to kidnap Victor for 45 seconds at a time and the "Big Risk" that devs are talking about is the killer being able to see Victor's aura after that long... I dunno what survivor that knows how to play the game thinks that a killer knowing where they are is anything more than a mild inconvenience. 45 seconds without your ONLY power is still ridiculous.

I find it amusing that the devs say some obstacles made it "difficult" for Victor to hit when the reality is that the piles of tires in Autohaven, or any object like them were a literal infinite against him. It wasn't "difficult". It was literally impossible to hit survivors around those obstacles. Would have been nice to have that actually acknowledged.

The thing with the lockers can be good or bad depending on the time they make it last. If Victor can hold the locker for like 15 seconds, maybe a bit more, then its fine. If its less than 10 seconds, then you'll waste half of that just changing back to Charlotte, and then you'll realize you're half a mile away from that locker, so you basically accomplished nothing. We'll have to wait and see.

The exit gate blocker change is good. It actually makes Victor mildly useful to stop someone from going through an exit gate. IF Charlotte is even close enough to the affected survivor for that to even matter.

Coup de Grace is almost an insult of a perk. If you purchase the killer with actual money, its a bad product. You're better off with Shadowborn than Coup de Grace. At least Shadowborn gives you a real benefit throughout the match.

I don't think there's real understanding from the devs as to what constitutes an actual risk for survivors or how time efficient killers must be. This killer seems like the opposite of time efficient.

It's a massive shame because there is so much potential for this killer, the concept and visual design of the killer are amazing. The execution, imo, is extremely lackluster and at least for now, I see absolutely no reason to get this killer. Might as well keep my iri shards.

  • And I thought the Devs are not listening? D:

Need to test out the changes when they all are live. Personally I thought on the PTB that the Twins will not be a Killer you will see often, because while being creative, they did not seem to be fun to play for me. Maybe it will get better with those Changes.

At the very least the Core Problems are adressed.

  • While it's nice to see some changes to the killer that Coup nerf is pretty bad. It already seemed like a meh perk at best and to nerf it seems rather silly IMO. They should at least make it so you get 2 tokens per generator then or some other way to get tokens.

If there going this route of reducing it to 60% then why not have it work on secondary attacks as well. You only get 5 uses after all and it just seems really really bad without some other kind of bonus to it.
