Buckle Up needs a buff

This perk is just terrible, it sounds good in theory but it's just bad.

As a golden rule survivors recover within 30 seconds while slugged, about 20 if unbreakable, so the aura of slugged survivors is nice but negligible. The aura of the killer been seen after picking up the survivor is also neglible, 9/10 times you already will know where the killer is and it won't help the survivor who was picked up. Seems to be a perk designed to help noobs but offers no real value to experienced survivors. Why would I bring this over DS or unbreable? I wouldn't. Any other survivor main who would? probably not.

This perk should apply the endurance effect for 15 seconds after picking up a survivor or something.

  • While the Endurance effect sounds cool, it’d be too powerful when combined with the DS+Unbreakable combo. It’s just Soul Guard except for when you get healed by someone else. You’d have a near invincible Survivor. I think a better idea for Buckle Up would be to let you heal downed Survivors quicker, see their recovery progress, and remove their status effects (except for effects like Torment and Madness).

Oh so you mean like Botany, Leader, Autodidact, Tenacity, Unbreakable, We'll Make It, Resilience, and Desperate Measures?

Yeah, no. There's already plenty of better options if you want a perk that heals faster. Even Medkits are a solid option. You wouldn't be making Buckle Up a good or decent perk with that change, it'd be more of the same and a mediocre one at best.

Applying the endurance effect when you heal a downed survivor makes the most sense for a perk based on slugging.

Did you even read the rest of it? It’s not the only effect and there’s no condition like We’ll Make It. I didn’t even list any numbers. Seems like you just read to that point and got upset.

    Buckle up is alright.

As a solo player here’s the thing: not every slugged survivor bothers to recover while slugged.

Buckle Up truly has been a valuable regular perk in my loadout so that I can know from quite a distance away who to NOT bother running in to assist from the dying state. I lose count of the amount of times without Buckle Up i’ve tried to go get someone up, accidentally got the attention of the killer, the slug hasn’t bothered recovering, and now I’m taking a hit/in a chase for absolutely nothing.

The only buff I’d like to see to Buckle Up is if the user is in the dying state this also triggers reading the killers aura when you and your rescuer revive you.

Yes I read it, it's the same perk except it heals quicker and removes debuffs. Vigil does that too. I know you think you're buffing this perk, but you're giving a terrible perk a hit with a wrench and saying it's fixed.

Your change is to heal faster but only when a survivor is downed. God that's so situational any other healing perk would be better used.

  • Doesn't Cherl's perk do that? The endurance thing.

It should certainly act as a pro-slug perk. His other perks involve getting injured and wiggling free.

Maybe it pins you to the ground instead, allowing other slug perks to do their thing.

Soul Guard applies endurance when you pick yourself up or are helped.

I was thinking Buckle Up could apply endurance to the person you pick up, making it an altruistic perk instead of self preservation.

Slugging happens a lot more these days. Healing a downed Survivor faster will come in handy more than you think.

Botany, Autidact, Leader, Desperate Measures, Tenacity, Unbreakable, all these perks heal faster or recover faster. Autodidact will heal 50% progress with one skill check, assuming you get a skill check, Desperate Measures heals 14% faster for every injured, dying, or hooked survivor, max stack being 54%, pair that with botanys 33% and you can heal 89% faster. Pair that with a medkit, and you're healing faster than We'll Make It. There are so many better healing builds, that's the issue with your suggestion, you only heal faster for dying survivors, on a perk that let's you know when the survivor is 99 recovered. It's too much of a niche. If you make it a passive healing buff for any healing action than it might be decent.

  • I would be totally fine with Buckle Up doing something completely different. It is one of the worst Perks, so a whole different effect might work out.

The recovery progress should be Baseline IMO. We all know this great situation when you run to a Survivor, just to see that he did not recover at all.

  • Honestly, yes, with one stipulation: the endurance effect only activates if you heal the other survivor for more than 1.6 seconds. That way, UB's cannot literally 99.9 the perk for an insta-up and still get the benefit. (Normal recovery takes you to 95%, requiring the survivor picking you up to spend 1.6 seconds healing you.)

It would definitely make it a strong perk, even a meta perk, but not in a way that it combo's with already-kinda-OP perks.

    Good idea, nice balance touch.

  • Yeah no. Second Chance perks are unhealthy.

Do you feel the same way about 1 shot perks and add ons that the killers have?

This, and honestly Buckle Up is underrated for solo survivor

Yeah about all of them without drawback like iri heads.

For example the newest oneshot UR needs you to use all your rush tokens, so there's an requirement.

Just like deliverance, it needs an unhook.

This. I've lost games going for a save on a slug only to thing over a minute has passed and they aren't even half recovered.

Exactly. The killers aura being shown is just a bonus so you know which way to not run. Buckle Up is really about making sure you don’t get yourself killed because of a lazy teammate.

  • Buckle Up does need a buff.

Making it the next in the great big pile of second-chance "I can take an extra hit" perks is not the answer.
