The 1-sided nerf that nobody is talking about

As many of you may have noticed, hitting survivors on the hook is no longer a thing. Instead of the regular blood splat, now dust just comes off like you hit a wall. So killer bm has literally been patched out. My point is this: Why is our bm patched out but tbagging and flashlight clicking is left in. I don't care how petty of an issue you think this is. It shows a direct, blatant survivor preference from the devs. I want my bm back or take away the survivors' ; All or nothing.

You've always had the power to deal with teabagging. You are the killer. You move faster than them, you can hit them, and you even have a power to help you do so. If anything, it was in favour of killers for years since the guy on the hook can't just hit the killer to make it stop.

"You've always had the power to deal with hook smacking. You are the survivor. You can just not get caught" /s

I'm not too invested in this; it's a buff to killers that don't want to BM. Hell, it's even a buff to face camping. But if this actually is your logic as to why it was removed, then yes, that is blatant survivor favoritism. Especially after you've already removed BM mori spamming (which admittedly 100% had to go).

Also, there IS something the Survivor TEAM can do in response to hook smacking; use the opportunity to rush gens or go for a BT save while the killer is wiping his weapon then teabag to BM back at gates.

  • Is this for real? In all the times I have ever seen people complain about stuff, this is without a doubt the weakest. If you wanna bm people just bring a mori and tunnel.

*Teabag and spam flashlight near open exit gates*

Anyway, does not hitting survivors on hooked is suppose to be bug or not?

Does it stay forever or will fix it again?

Too bad that this game gives survivors enough second chances and free space to roam that they can safely BM while the killer either has to break the pallet, or go around an inefficient wall. Everything that the killer can do to BM survivors is either limited severely, or just outright bannable, yet nothing is done to limit teabagging or flashlight clicking or any of the other myriad things survivors can do to rub it in the face of the killer. The very few things that the killer can do to BM survivors will severely cost them precious time, because apparently the game can't be balanced around 5 gens and it has to be balanced around 3 gens.

I think it would be very revealing for BHVR to go out and ask gamers who don't necessarily play DBD what their thoughts on DBD are and what they've heard about it, you'd have a lot of important information as to why your competitors in this genre are starting to gain ground on you. Taking opinions of people who play this game would be redundant, as these forums show, every day, what the playerbase thinks of this game.

  • those things aren't in the game for trolling in the first place, those are actual game features people take advantage of. LIKE FACE CAMPING salty ass killer

That's under the assumption that it's the killer's game to win, which it isn't. Chasing that toxic survivor even for a few seconds could waste precious time and momentum. Every match for killer is a race against time. People would not complain about toxic survivors if said survivors had a low escape rate, but the sad truth is they usually escape. So no, in 90% of circumstances there is no 'dealing with' tbaggers. They act toxic, get away with it, rinse and repeat. That is why, as a former killer main, I only play killer for challenges now.

    This is silly.

Everything a killer can do to bm is difficult or bannable?? You clearly don't play survivor if this is your opinion. Maybe you should. Might give you some more ideas. ๐Ÿ˜‚

I play plenty of survivor. When I am BMed by the killer, my 3 other team mates escape, because I can effectively stall the killer for enough time for them to escape. You're right, the killer can BM survivors, but the killer can only BM 1 survivor at the cost of having the 3 other survivors escape. Inversely, every survivor can effectively BM the killer with very little to no cost to them or the game. The game gives survivors enough perks and safe areas that they do not need to play efficiently to successfully evade the killer and escape. Every single second counts to the killer, the same is not true for survivors.

If you are good enough as killer. And if not? And if the survivor team uses their plenty tools to deny the killer even that one hook or kill? Is teabagging then an issue and the killers fault because he could not deal with it?

  • I like this change, no longer do I hit the hook survivor when going for the unhooking one.

As for survivor BM, I love it when people stop after a pallet to butt dance and taunt, you could have run away you idiot! I'll just go ahead and smack you now.

This is cute, but the first part is also false. Unless you play low rank/skilled Killers...then maybe.

I will say you are right though, survivors aren't as pressured as Killers when it comes to time efficiency. They are pressured in other ways. That is the nature of the two different roles; two different objectives. But in no way can survivors actually use any BM that has a real effect on the game more so than Killers.

  • Maybe the devs should create a perk to counter T-Bagging with how many people complain about an animation. Lol

The game gives a killer 15 seconds at the start of a chase to either throw down a pallet or hit a survivor. If a survivor can refrain from getting hit within the first 15 seconds of a chase, they are reducing the overall amount of time the killer has to hook them all by a significant amount.

Just by running in a straight line, getting hit, then dead harding, and then getting hit a second time, you are wasting about 45-60 seconds of a killer's time. That's up to 2 gens done worth of time for your team mates. You can do this 2 times. The killers that can circumvent these grace periods are the killers that are seen as the strongest killers. It's not a question of fighting lower skilled killers, it's a question of fighting certain killers. The skill cap for killer is quite low, once you reach a certain level, you can't really improve much afterwards, barring becoming a master of psychology and being able to understand every single survivor you meet just by chasing them once.

Survivors can BM and not be punished for it. Whenever a killer BM's they are punished for it. What can a killer do at the end of a round, chasing a survivor to the exit and the survivor BMs just before they exit? Or if the survivor throws down a jungle gym pallet, they can easily bm without costing them anything, the only pallets they can't effectively BM at are unsafe pallets, which are quite rare.

I don't agree with most of what's in this thread, including the OP. But it's rich to say this to lower tier killers well known to be chew toys for a skilled SWF, and official dev statements have said those killers are in a fine place because they have an acceptable killrate vs average rank 1 SWFs.

Additionally, survivors BM when chasing them is a terrible idea in terms of time management. The opening of the exit gates in particular is a crescendo of stress and anxiety, because survivors seize their position of complete physical & emotional safety to be rude, routinely waiting 2 minutes at the gates just in the hope of doing it.

That constant sense of gloating, mocking hostility for letting anyone get out is corrosive to any sense of fair play or mercy. If 2K was my average, I would quit the game. It strongly discourages me from getting new killers and playing anything but high tier killers. It's the number one reason I don't play this game much more than I do; it does not feel good to constantly have to guard my fun from other people's contempt, and constantly monitor my vulnerability vs patience.

And they waste your time until come near

  • OP's priorities are severely misguided if they would rather BM a survivor on a hook instead of no longer having to worry about auto-aim screwing you out of downing the unhooking survivor. This change helps killers massively. Be the better person and strive to be a better player instead of worrying about how you can BM the survivors back.

  • @Mookywolf said:

so, what, you want a cool down to crouching and using the flashlight? because i cant see any other way to take either of those out

Survivors that crouch at exit games should instantly summon the entity for a killing blow. Bodyblocking should lead to exposure status.

But why would they do that? Sometimes people use clicky specifically to get the Killers attention and draw them away from someone/something...which is a legitimate strategy.

No it's not. No idiot falls for that. It's just annoying and you're extremely rude for doing this.

  • Now I can't have Bubba carve them up with his chainsaw while they're hooked :( That was fun.

  • Honestly, the only BM killer really needs is the ole' nod and headshake. They cost no time, you can do them in motion, and they always work.
