legit question for the devs
why are you so SLOW to make any changes?
take overwatch for exemple, I know Blizzard this is a HUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE company compared to yours Behavior, but they can manage to do like 10 changes a month, which most of them are number changes, so why for you it takes 3-6 months to make few number changes?
increase trapper traps to 2 instead of 1, number change, make wraith reappear 0.5 seconds faster by default, number changes, it is SIMPLE, I know nothing about programming, but this is simple number changes, why can't you make some more ptb to TEST like they almost always do to test those changes?
most of the killers need number changes, i know for add-ons it takes more time, but for killer who are fine as they are but need a speed boost or anything, it really shouldn't take you much time.
so my question, why are you so slow for number changes? or any changes at all?

Trapper is mostly fine as is. They have reworked both wraith and trapper wraith is fine as well with his cloak lol you probably didn't play when uncloaking took 3 seconds and placing a trap took 3-4 without add-ons. They aren't a massive company and are busy trying to fix other things. Comparing them to blizzard is like comparing a chihuahua to a wolf.
if they make "small" changes to base killer stats they have to revamp every add-on to coincide with those changes otherwise things could very easily snowball.
When Dedicated Servers are rolled our for good, it would nice for them to section one off as the permanent ptb.
Small change ideas like this could be continuously added, evaluated, and removed. They don’t even need to be announced. People choosing this server would understand that things may behave wonky. BHVR collects data internally and decides what changes are viable for global rollout or make it to a specific, limited ptb.
They reworked his addons that had 500 negatives to 1 positive and increased trap placement time if you want to talk buffs in 3 years. The biggest problem with Trapper is how little impact traps often have and that good survivors can easily avoid them and make you useless quite often.
Doing something like removing the RNG aspect of his traps so that when you actual do catch someone in one, it actual has meaning, instead of a 1 in 4 chance to. They should also, by default, allow him to carry 2 traps.
Something just really needs to be done to make his traps a bit more impactful. Mostly fine? Maybe. But definitely not fine.
They're busy spending money keeping Deathgarden alive (and possibly other studio projects) instead of hiring more people to work on DbD.
They made a point to mention why they didn't hire more people and the reason surprised me.
If I understood it right, they have their dev group who understand the game as it is and bringing in a lot of people to help with it would also bring in people who don't "get" the dev group.
This might also translate to "we don't want more people who might change the way things are run"
I dunno, it's just one statement, but it'd be nice to see them get an influx of people to work on all the little things that drive players nuts while still keeping up with their crazy content schedule.
They are so fast to nerf things but when it comes to buffing something they take for ever to go through with the change like legion could totally have his old speed but they rather give spies from the shadows a cool down or nerf surge before it even gets to the ptb
The weird part is, overwatch players typically can't stand when Blizzard decides to Nerf or buff half the cast every other Tuesday. Doing constant changes without seeing how each will affect everything is just making a mess.
Well the answer is actually in your post the difference between behavior and blizzard is the fact blizzard has over 5000 employees vs behaviors 500 you see the difference there they have a way smaller team.
Also what people call small changes you have to realize the devs have higher ups they have to answer to just because the community wants something does not mean the higher ups agree with it theres a ton of things the developers want to do but between time constraints and making new stuff and fixing bugs and buffing and nerfing not everything they want to do can get done.
If we really want to go into how long it can take to fix things like bugs it can take some time a lot of people like to pretend they know how coding works but finding and identifying a bug can be a lot of work depending on what happened some bugs are minor some are more advanced.
Basically if Behavior had the type of financial backing as Blizzard had you could bet they would hire a ton of people to help with the game but you cant compare a Triple A to a borderline Indie company its not a fair comparison.
If you can find a company of behaviors size that can put out 10+ changes a month then id gladly like to see that so in conclusion cut behavior slack you dont know what goes on behind closed doors some things the devs really want to do but sometimes other things take priority.
Imma create a thread: "not legit question for the devs"
What seems like small changes to you are really huge changes for the devs, don’t forget every change has the risk of creating even more bugs... let them fix the older stuff first
Behavior's code is the technical equivalent of spaghetti. Whenever they update something, something else breaks horrendously.
I don't think SFM is as buggy as Dead by Daylight in all honestly, Unreal is a great engine how the hell did they make Unreal Spaghetti?
Especially when you look at the game.
Matchmaking? Really bad.
Lobby times? 90% of the time they are trash
Balance is all over the place.
10$ for a skin with no new visual or sound effects
Takes 3000 years to grind shards.
Takes 9000 years to grind the rift.
Takes 2000 years to grind for BPs without 2X.
Frame Rate is disgusting.
Some perks are not viable, others are OP as hell.
Super toxic community.
And this game isnt even free to play.
Doesnt matter how many licensed chapters you add ,if the game is broken, the playerbase isnt gonna grow.
I love and hate these devs;dont ruin a game with SO much potential.
I think that translates to "We're the only ones who are familiar with our game's engine and code, and teaching new people how to use it and modify it would take too long".
Plus, having more people doesn't always result in a better product. There is such a thing as "too many cooks in the kitchen" when it comes to game development.
I complain about the devs too, but I think there's some huge issues with the coding of this game that makes changes problematic. Most patches with have some kind of massive break or glitch or exploit that has to be hotfixed soon. There's too many shared assets in this game that make any changes even numerical to just be a fix. Remember Sloppy Butcher when they updated it? It actually broke Wraith for some bizarre reason and his attacks with Sloppy Butcher would cause a nonstop survivor bleed that would mess with frame rates and make the survivor into a blood fountain.
The only thing that bhvr and blizzard have in common is china
But blizzard has more projects to work on aswell so it evens out
