  • They have to have power on them which is BS. Most killers just bank it when they have it, I've followed killers around and many won't chase until they transfer.

I've tried for a couple of days now. Between other survivors needing it, killers banking it upon receipt, needing 2 be able to receive it, and afk killers in 10% of matches, I've had little luck. Stunned the killer many times, and only have 3 of 6

  • I'm seeing a recurring theme from skimming the comments. Like many others, it took me 3 matches as well. I'm uncertain how 12 hours is even possible. Unless you played a game at lunch and a couple of more before midnight.

No not when you're popping the gens before being healed, it's only 16 seconds to heal a survivor over 32 for yourself and if you ran even inner strength instead of self care and got totems like you were supposed to it's only 8 seconds in a locker after a gen , free Instaheal for doing an objective you should be doing compared to self care where you get a totem anyway and then still spend 32 seconds (if there's no sloppy or Thana) healing in an unsafe area

It's really a no brainer, self care is inefficient it's just that people don't trust who they're with or don't want to be injured doing objectives, the only time self care is effective is when trying to heal for an endgame save when you're solo/have more than one random

You are still missing the point. 16 seconds is not a time saver. 2 people are wasting 16 seconds.. 16*2 = 32 seconds.

A + B + C are on generators for 32 seconds and D is self Care for 32 seconds (1 person to go find a gen) Lost 32 seconds on generators.

A + B are on generator for 16 seconds and and C + D are healing for 16 seconds. (2 people to go find a gen) Lost 32 seconds on generators.

Do you solo survive? I never trust who I'm with.

What if teammate botches a save, or runs like a wild man after a rescue when you are facing a phased spirit, leads the killer to you, or keeps pinning you down for heal when you are trying to run cause you see the killer. It is a lot easier to see someone leaning over another than squatting yourself when you know you are safe. Also, not everyone has DLC. How can we just say use inner strength? isn't that from a DLC? and even if you have it, should you run around for an additional 30 seconds, groaning to find a totem that may or may not be out there... who knows cause there is no totem counter. Too many variables to just flat out say, 'NO', it should never be used.

Again, I'm not running self-care, but I think it could come in handy coupled with med-kit.

  • @The_Krapper said:

I'm not saying people who run self care are bad because that's not true but I'm saying self care users waste more time healing and doing nothing more than a survivor who if they're truly safe could just finish a gen with someone and get healed up or run inner strength and knock out two birds with one stone

If you heal more than twice in a match with self-care you've literally cost your team more than a whole generators worth of time and most self care users immediately heal when they get safe anytime being injured instead of doing objectives and taking a risk

Yes, if you self care twice you've cost the team 1 generator time, but if you are healed by another twice, you've still cost the team 1 generator time.

2 survivors - 100% healing and not doing gens (16+16+16+16) is just as much loss in time as 1 survivor - 50% healing not doing gens (32+32), and if that surv can instead pop on gen with others while you self care, the gen will go faster having more people on it. Actually aiding to heal a survivor with self care is negative gen time in this instance.

  • As someone already mentioned.. Looks like Jekyll/Hyde.. glass being a dropped beaker as he was a Dr. and as he transforms, he gets bigger, but not really wolf-like

  • Killers seeing keys as a 'free win' is the biggest misconception. A survivor escaped.. they did not win. They did not exit with the majority of their team which I consider a win (3+). A solo or duo escape is just that.... surviving, but it is not a win in my book, nor is it free.

Killers never mention that they can sacrifice a key carrier and if the team does not know about said key, they probably won't be looking to pick it up. They also fail to address that the survivor has to spend time searching for a hatch instead of doing gens, further hurting the possibility of a win (3+ escapes), which often actually helps the killer get more kills than they might have due to increased hunting time because of less people/time on Gens.

And maybe this is not the case, but I see killers complaining about keys because they didn't get 4k. When I wreck survivors and one or 2 get hatch, I think, 'dam, they are lucky they brought/found a key and found that hatch before I got them!', not 'OMG, keys are BS!! i wanted rank, pip, 4k bp that I deserve and stoopid key just ruined that for me!'

If you are complaining about 3-4 survivors escaping with 1 key, you were already losing, imo, since they knocked out 4-5 gens. I've never seen a 4 man hatch escape.. pretty much has to be swf to coordinate that.

  • If one of his really cool powers does not include disappearing from these forums, I don't care.

Voice comms isn't what this game is balanced for and so it's definitely an advantage. Besides I've seen people who say giving such opting out options is a bad idea as no one will play against SWF which is why I made this poll. To see whether there are people who will not opt out.

And I'm saying the poll is biased under the premise that SWF is unfair. You assume the game is not balanced when people use comms.. I've seen killers get stronger and stronger over the years, and I can't even win as a solo survivor anymore unless paired with other great survivors. I played solo.. maybe 40 or so matches in the last 2 weeks. I've survived 4-5 times. 1 time the killer disconnected because I was playing with 2 red ranks and we knocked out a gen pretty fast with 3 toolboxes(which were depleted after the one gen), so I'm sure they assumed SWF and dc'd... we were not. I don't think SWF or comms are a problem. I think good players are the baby killer problems, and by seeing SWF they can avoid the chance of having to play against 4 good survivors who want to play together because they know how strong each one is individually(probably why the friended each other). When I play with friends, i play with real life friends and I have less chance of winning with them than I do with good survivors. Some people play with people they don't know in real life, but friended up cause skill recognized skill. Killers just want to avoid those types of groups, and by avoiding those, they'll avoid all SWFs... even if SWF is not the problem.

My premise is that many killers out there aren't 4k'ing these really good gamers and crying about it.

  • This vote doesn't have enough options. It begins with the premise that SWF is unfair. Both options seems to accept this as fact. I don't think SWF is unfair, but I would still opt out as a killer.. Why risk facing off against 4 exceptional SWAT gamers when I can ensure I never cross their path?

If the option is added, can survivors see who the killer is as well, so they can avoid killers they don't like playing against?

So that means SWF ARE an ISSUE that NEEDS to be addressed.

It's not fair to put people against groups that can do what normal survivors cannot without these people even knowing that.

You are painting with too broad a brush, and it is intentionally misleading. Yes, there are some really great gamers out there that meet other really great gamers and become SWAT SWFs, but there are other average gamers out there that just want to play with friends and have fun. The 2nd group is not OP and often loses to altruism and other mistakes. When I play with friends, I play worse at times just chatting with them and not really paying attention to the game. Surviving with Friends is completely different than winning with other exceptional gamers.

You want to trip someone into saying swfs are a problem. I don't think they are, and there is a pretty logical reason why not to show which you continuously gloss over with your brush.

    1. Killers see SWATs (good group of gamers) as a problem. Going against good gamers is tough for everyone. I've gone against incredible killers and survivors.
    2. Devs implement SWF indicator. It does not differentiate SWAT and any other SWF.
    3. All killers avoid SWF because of their disdain for SWAT and want to have their 4ks easy-mode.
    4. The whole group of SWFs which are not SWAT (maybe like 90%) never find matches because baby killers.
    5. Game ceases to be played with friends and loses large player base.
    6. No more survivors
    7. Killers in empty lobbies waiting long times for 4 solo-survivors so they can get their 4ks.
  • All the 'do bones' responses.... psh! Do any of the killers who say this play solo survivor? How do you know if 3 other teammates cleansed totems? How long should I continue to look for totems so that you have more time to catch me and less time on gens.. Should I scour the map for 2 min.. 5 min.. 10 min... 20 min just to ensure a totem still isn't out there. There needs to be a totem counter like gen counter for survivors to see... else I'll just hide in lockers for 30 min + and continue to look for totems because I don't know that 'bones aren't done'.

Here is a scenario. 4 survivors all 'Do BONES!!' 1 gets 2, 2 gets 1, 3 gets 1, 4 gets 1. Each survivor thinks there are still 4 out there except for 1, they think 3. So all 4 survivors should keep looking for bones so you can kill them? I know you all would be super happy if every surv in a match spent the entire match looking for non-existent items so you could catch them all.

I've heard some valid points in this thread, and numerous, 'you didn't do them all'. So, I ask again, how would anyone ever know that they were all done? Sounds like you killers are advocating for 4 man SWFS with comms, no?

Jason has the licensing issues going on and the Creeper has issues that can never be resolved

Yeah, and I've also heard people say the licensing issue might be over or over soon.. As one of the most iconic slashers out there, to leave Jason off the list seems absurd. The list is most anticipated, and it might not happen soon or even next year, but I would still expect that he could/would/should make the cut if the dust ever settles from the licensing issue.

Creeper is more of a want than anticipate. I enjoyed the original movie before I knew anything about the director's history as many did. I try to separate the fiction from the POS human that created it, but like everyone else.. wouldn't want him making any royalties off its inclusion.

  • I like the list, but if not for this thread, I would have no clue who Sam and Dean are? I've never seen supernatural.. I thought it was another CW tween show, and never gave it a shot. It might be great, but I don't think they are S tier.

Where is Jason? The Creeper? Sam from Trick-r-Treat? Jack Torrence? Those are up there on my list. Jason and Jack being S Tier for me. Creeper and Sam falling somewhere below.

Three survivors can't escape through hatch with only three gens done.

Yep, every poster I hear claim that Keys are OP neglects the fact (and maybe they don't know) that for 3 to escape, 4 gens have to be done. For 4 to get hatch, 5 gens have to be done. I've been in some 2 person escapes (still a 2k for the killer), never been in a 3 person escape, and the 4 person escape is Bigfoot. I've heard it might exist, but have never seen one.

Survivors complain about moris because they usually end with the killer getting 4k. Killers complain about keys because they might only got 2k instead of 4k.... if the survivors with the key is not sacked, and they both find the hatch. Mori's - 4 survivors lose vs. Key's - 2 survivors might escape, but 2 survivors still lose. I've lost probably 20x more keys than hatch escaped. The killer can actually kill a key carrier. How many times has killer not gotten 2+ kills using Mori?

Moris and Keys both result in Kills for the killer. Unless you are the unfortunate killer that can't kill a key carrier, and runs against map + key toting swfs 10 of 10 times which always finish all 5 gens before you get them. If that is the case, the 4 probably would've escaped without the key.

I agree but civ is a little bit different, those are nations with real historical leaders, for obvious reasons they are leaders typically not known for mass genocide, which is a good thing. So yeah depiction of real people in media and games needs to be thought out.

Jack the ripper is a real serial killer and probably shouldn't be in the game, but a killer inspired by that circumstance would be pretty good. Again a Victorian/Edwardian era gentleman in a top hat with a razor chasing survivors around cobblestone streets. Think how cool the map could be.

It could have a bunch of period/Gothic costume cosmetics for survivors and would fit with DBD really well.

While the generators are modern in design, the first generators (at least Faraday Disks) stem back to the early 1800's with more modern gens appearing in the early 1900's its not a stretch to include the theme.

    What name though?

    "The Ripper"

    "The Undertaker"

    "The Mad Hatter"

I'm thinking of a Tim Burtonesque character large top hat, razor, cane, cape and in all black.

As for a name, you've got some good ones, but i think the 'The Shadow' could work as well. Really like the idea of that era and setting.

sweat squads have a 90%+ winrate against the strongest possible killer players in this game with the strongest possible killers with the strongest possible addons. Your point would make sense if this was more like 50% winrate.

    Proof of this?

    Here is my take

If you balance top down and increase power of the killer to compete 50/50 with swat swf.. every other survivor player.. maybe 95% of the player base will always lose. Heck, I lost 7/8 matches a week ago.. All 4ks(1 mori) and I haven't played since.

Rank 1-5 killers complaining about sweaty swfs... You worked your way to the top, did you expect it to get easier? You should be losing some matches at high ranks. Does the sweaty swf always 4 escape? Or is everyone just mad they didn't get a 4k?

I see killers complain too often about non-4k more than anything else. Keys are OP cause 2 happened to escape in one match, yet the killer still got 2 kills (2 survivors lost). A 4k every match as the standard will always mean that 80% of the players in the match will lose. This would greatly diminish the # of survivors playing including newcomers to the game, and inversely increase the number of swfs.

I also keep hearing, let us know if it's swf. This is the most absurd idea ever in my opinion. Wait 5-10 minutes to get into a match and killer leaves even if i was in as solo survivor because 2 or 3 other survs were playing with friends. Not all swfs are swat or sweaty squads, some are new to the game and just having fun with friends(being overly altruistic and running for their lives). My friends haven't even prestiged a survivor yet, but I wouldn't be able to play with them any more because of killers too afraid to go against a group of friends.

  • Moris.

    Mori - 1 hook.

Hatch escape - 3 gens(minimum), and have to find the hatch.

Mori's often end in 4ks. A total win. 4/5 people lost the game.

Keys often end with 2 escapes. A tie. 2/5 people lost the game. (2 survivors died, and the killer still got 2k)

I say often because there is a possibility that the carrier is sacked and 0 escape, a 4 gen, 3 escape(which i have not seen), and the unicorn; 4 man, 5 gen escape(A total win).

How many 4 man (5 gen) key escapes (A total win) have you witnessed with keys compared to 4ks (A total win) with moris? It is night and day. That is your answer.

  • @Koukdw said:

Even tho they have genrush build. 28k you can't get that only by doing gens. They probably healed/save a tons. When i rush the gen im lucky if i get more than 15k

I was thinking the same.. that is a lot of points for survivors that just did gens, and the killer still got 1k... cannot expect 4k every match. I played a couple of days ago as survivor and 7 of 8 matches were 4k. Maybe we can nerf tools/perks/gen speeds so that could be 8/8 4ks with no escaping.

And to their comment, I'm glad I'm on PS4 and don't see post game chat garbage. They know what they brought, they knew they were going to be able to increase their odds, and they are just trolling POS's. Be happy that you got one cause I guarantee as a 4 man sweaty SWF, the one that did not get away was super salty, and his team feels bad for losing him/her in what they thought would be a sure-fire 4 man escape.

  • @malatruse said:

Where are those survivors when I am soloq-ing? 😪

For real. 7 of 8 games yesterday I played were 4ks, 1 of those was Mori, and I had 1 escape, but, yeah, gens are too fast.. 😑 In one game, I was the only survivor doing gens. I knocked out 3 and almost a 4th by myself, looped the killer for over 30 seconds(from progress on rift objective), and had perk to see auras of fellow survivors. None were doing gens. 2 were sacrificed by my 3rd gen pop and as i was working on the 4th, i saw the other surv patrolling the map.. presumably looking for hatch. I got caught doing the objective and he left me to die. I am so glad the killer got him, but 1 of 8 wins does not allow me to sympathize with this argument for gen speeds. lvl 20 killers wrecking high lvl survivors. Are all survivors trying to depip or something at the beginning of the season?

  • No. I don't know Springtrap. I don't want to know Springtrap. I've never played FNAF. I've never cared to play FNAF. Is FNAF as well-known as Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Scream, Saw, Halloween, or Silent Hill?

FNAF seems like such a niche gaming circle without the clout or popularity of Stranger Things, Nightmare on Elm Street, etc. To even put it in the same ballpark seems absurd. Seems like a waste of a license to go after a small FNAF fanbase, when much a larger one exists... Horror/Slasher film fans... Friday 13th, Candyman, Jeepers Creeper, Childs Play. I'd rather see any of those iconic slasher licenses over FNAF. Jack Torrence from the Shining scares me more than a robot furry.

  • As a survivor -

    1. Nobody d/c's, suicides, or throws.
    2. Escaping with more than just myself. I even consider my sacrifice a win if I aided in someone else's escape.

    As a killer -

    1. Nobody d/c's, suicides, or throws.
    2. Hooking many, pressuring over camping, and sacrificing at least 2.. the more the better :)
    3. Not getting trolled, looped, taunted by a superior survivor(high rank or smurf). This is a loss when they are that much better than me.
  • @CrowFoxy said:

Mori on death hook would make it useless.

I also don't believe in nerfing/removing keys. I just simply believe hatch shouldn't spawn until all gens are done for 2+ survivors honestly.

I like this, but think it should be 4 and not 5. Prevents a lot of Blendette hiders from 2 gen escapes and the not as common, but doable, 3 gen, 2 man escapes. I think 4 gens for any number is a good compromise(still 5 gens for all 4) because at 5 there is no point in carrying a key. It would be a wasted item slot knowing that you can open the gates at 5 without having to look for a hatch. The key bearer still has to survive through 4 gens, has to find the hatch, and somehow get teammates to follow. There has to be some incentive to carry a key, and 4 gen instead of 5 seems reasonable to me.

  • Yes, and while we are at it, let's remove the doors and gens too. We can just play hide n' seek until the killer catches us. Would this finally please the killer mains? Probably not, because they'd want to remove lockers at that point due to long matches.

I hear so many gripes about keys/hatches, but they are not easy and not a sure fire way to escape. The 4 person escape is a unicorn unless in a very well coordinated swf with key/map and even then it is no guarantee.

    1. You have to use or find a key
    2. The key bearer has to stay alive. key bearers can be hooked, sacrificed, mori'd (contrary to what killers would have you believe)
    3. You have to find the hatch(huge waste of gen time and are all 4 teammates looking for the hatch? I thought everyone gen rushed all the time)
    4. You have to somehow hope that your teammates have found the hatch or read your mind that you have found it when you wave at them, but they usually ignore you to go back to their gen.
    5. To escape with 4, you have to 5 gen at which point your teammates are going for gates(not hatch) and the killer lost anyway.
    6. To escape with 3, you have to 4 gen, and someone is usually on the 5th at this time.

I've hatch escaped many times as last survivor (no key), hatch escaped with one other teammate a few times, never hatched with 3, and still searching for the unicorn that is the 4 man hatch trophy.

I challenge all killers to solo survive and hatch escape with more than 2 people. You will waste a lot of keys and lose a lot of matches searching for the hatch without doing gens. Is the ire really from multi-hatch escape or because that one blendette that brought a key got out with only 2 gens done while you were on a complete rampage against the survivors?

  • I like both of them. As a survivor, I don't take the game so seriously that I can't enjoy the fact that there is a 'wild card' factor that can either shorten my life or shorten my escape. Subsequently, as a killer, I don't rage when a couple survivors get away. I get more bummed when I don't get a single one, and that has nothing to do with keys.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1479582#Comment_1479582

I mean when the devs make these adept achivements they force you to play to the best (aka 3 hooking everyone smacking them enough stalling enough gens and winning chases). In this scenario i forced survivors into a 3 gen and 2 hooked everyone and 3 hooked one person. So now they were 3 gend i was pretty much guaranteed to get the iridescent for stalling gens. I got a gold for sacrifice because of the key and got the 2 other iridescents. So yeah i played perfectly and fairly and got punished for playing fair to get the adept achivement for pyramid head (who has zero gen control anyway). To have a adept right there in your grasp and get it ripped from you because of a RNG item in a chest isnt very fun.

I can understand that, and I feel your pain, but I'm sure you'll get the adept on subsequent attempts. Nerfing keys because it prevented a 4k, nay, an achievement(which should not just be handed out) in one match is a bit extreme. Have you ever tried to get the 'All 4 survivors escape through the hatch" achievement? All 5 gens + finding hatch + no sacrifices + all team using hatch vs. gate as a solo survivor?

@Mister_xD I still don't think of keys as punishing a killer for good gameplay. The fact that survivors have another means of potentially shortening their escape is on par with a mori which shortens their life span. I've been in many matches where a survivor had a key vs killer having a mori.... almost all result in 4k.

How often do more than 2 escape? What percentage of matches end in 2 escapes when a key is brought? Too many variables with keys.

    1. Survivor with key dies... no key.
    2. Survivor with key can't find hatch... no hatch escape.
    3. Solo survivor with key... team won't be with them if they find the hatch.
    4. If all survivors are alive, 5 gens must be done. (At which point, the killer was only going to 1k at best)

I've only ever been part of a 2 person key escape twice. I've never been in a 3, and I've never gotten the achievement for a 4. I've escaped many times with no key as the last survivor, but not as often as you'd think.

So what, 2 survivors escape through a hatch? The fact that the killer got 2 kills is reward in and of itself (you got rewarded for all your hooks and kills). you're not being punished because 1 of 4 people might have a key, might not have been killed, and might have found the hatch. The mentality from killers that they must 4k and gain max points every match or the game is punishing them, drives me mad. Many factors have to fall into place to even use the key to shorten an escape. Play survivor and try a key escape. I'd say roll SWF with 1 friend and try to get both of you out. You will lose a lot of keys.

  • As a survivor, almost every game I'm in where a Mori is used, is a 4k. As a killer, keys can end with any number of survivors alive or dead and it usually never amounts to 4 escaping through hatch as they would need all 5 gens done. I see you complaining that you didn't get a 4k? You ruined 2 survivors escape even with a key in the game. 2 of 5 players lost. You did not lose. You successfully made 2 others lose.

If the goal is to make it easier for killers to 4k.. who'd ever want to play survivor. Think of the odds. If 4k were possible 50% of the time, that would mean that 80% of the players lose 50% of the time and that 20% of the players(the killer) wins . 4k may be seen as a win to killers as it is you vs them, but to a survivor a win is just them vs the killer. IMO, if you kill anyone, you have successfully beat that person.. a Win. Killer already gets more BP per match than survivor too, another win. If you're playing for rank, than I'm sorry you don't feel like 2k was a win against 2 people.

I fail to see how you got punished for playing well. For 3 survivors to escape they would have had to have done 4 gens, known where the hatch was, and gotten a key. Are you saying that you were playing well because you killed one survivor by the time 4 gens were done?

@Leachy_Jr Can't even report them because it's alt accounts. Since its not from their main, BHVR won't do anything and Sony will only ban the alts and since an alt only takes an email address and you can save passwords, it takes 4 seconds to switch to an alt to harass you then to another then they get their friends who don't even play the game to do the same. It's a shitstorm over a game.

It's a blessing to be on PC. My favorite is when you put your profile to not receive messages so they send you friend requests. PS4 friend requests allow you to send a message before trying to befriend someone and shows them the message on your notifications before even saying yes or no to the friend request. There is no limit to friend requests unless you block/report, so either way, you're getting into a shitstorm. At one point, I had over 100 messages from random people with threats over a PS4 YouTuber who got mad that I beat him and his friends.

    Good ole' PS4 :D

You can go into privacy settings and filter who can send messages, view profile, view trophies, etc. (none, friends, friends of friends, all). I don't find PS4 to be toxic at all.. esp without end of game messages. I just play the game and never hear a peep. I receive friend requests, but just ignore them. I filter all that stuff because Conan Exiles.. which is far more toxic than DBD imo.

  • Definitely weird looking but that goes for character models in general. I get that she is a bigger body type, but to be wide in the thighs with no depth just looks weird.. take the picture of her standing here. Look at how skinny the profile is of that left leg in the picture on the left. The depth is way out of scale with the width of her leg.

You can see in the comparison below to a normal figure.. Jane's legs should be thicker all the way around to adhere to the body type.

  • I believe the 'F' in SWF is the problem with any sort of nerfs to teams. Many high ranks are running against coordinated teams of high rank survivors who are not actually friends but have met equally competent survivors during their play time in which they can win with. The win and rank is more important than the fun, but you have to realize that nerfing those teams destroys people who actually play with friends.. some of which may be terrible, some of which may be excellent, but it doesn't matter cause they are friends and not looking for championship belts. These teams of friends and newbies alike are forced into Rank because it is the only way to progress in the game(perks/items). People being able to play with friends is better for the game....more people, faster matchmaking, healthier community, but nerfing that will turn away many newcomers and shorten the lifespan of the game.

2 of my rl friends won't play because they just get destroyed by rank 18-20 killers with all tier 3 perks and they themselves haven't hit lvl 20 with a single survivor.. they said the game is garbage/unfair and walked away. Mind you, they are good gamers, and excel in other multiplayer games. I tell them that they need to lvl up perks and other survivors in order to create builds that can aid in chance of success, but to their point, 'why would a ranking system ever pair them against someone who has invested over 100 hours?'

but that's just it. A killer can hit someone and break off with say.. Ghost face, and you would have no clue as a solo that has just happened unless you give up a perk slot for an information perk that a swf does not need to do, making themselves stronger.

You hit the nail on the head with the hook situation. Solo survivors do not know if someone is or is not going in for the save and thus WASTE TIME that swf does not by having multiple people move in for the save.

Swf coordinate perks and items to do things that rarely happen in solo.

    Totems are weakened.

    Traps are weakened.

    stealth is weakened.

    It all adds up.

Yeah, but your assumption is that all SWFs coordinate perks in such a manner, and my counter argument is that might be true at higher ranks or for try hards, but I don't see it that much. I see solos running metas regardless of SWF, and I think Killers are too quick to assume SWF even without verification. I don't run meta perks but utility perks. I like it. Am I ruining a rank seeking 3 man SWF? When I play with friends, sure, we are trying to win, but we are not hardcore rank seekers. We chat/laugh/talk as we play. I actually play better solo than with friends.

On the flip side, communication doesn't always work in your favor. I challenge killers to get a group of 3 friends, climb the ranks and successfully 4 man escape every time. If you and your 3 friends know all locations on all maps, can specifically call out killers, and are well versed in the map layout, than I would say you deserve the wins and rank ups. I can tell a friend the killer is by me at my generator or at the gas station, but I don't have a compass to say north, south, east, west, and my friend might have no clue where that is. I can say, 'I'm going to rescue you', but another friend is only 20 meters away and already working it on.

I prefer the, 'Oh #########, he got me.. help, help!' to the 'killer is in quadrant 4, and i can loop for 22.8 seconds, stay on those gens ya'll' type of play. To those who prefer the latter.. maybe they deserve some wins.

and then they all just spread out and hold m1 on gens. Good luck wearing out their defenses before they finish their task. Especially on large maps.

Nothing stopping 4 solo players from doing this as well.. spread out and hit gens. I solo all the time, and yeah, i stay on gens. I'd say a team of 4 solos that know what they are doing are going to be quite difficult. I don't need to be mic'd up to know that a survivor is being chased esp if they've been hit and i can see the icon on screen. I don't even go in for altruistic pulls right away, esp if i see another heading that way. I've seen lots of great solos.. biggest advantage killer has against all solo team is if all 3 go for a hooked teammate. (3 off gen and 3 potential victims if the killer is a camper) I lose more when I play with my friends cause we chat more about non game stuff rather than focus.. when I solo, it's all on me to do my job to help a group I don't personally know in the form of gens, pulls, loops, but as I've said in other threads, I'm more casual and am only speaking from non top tier perspective. Do Rank 1 killers get destroyed by SWFs every match? I'd think they would lose rank if so

  • True, but it is a POSSIBILITY to limit your kills which may not limit them at all. You may have killed the key carrier, the survivor with the key may not have found the hatch, they may not be in a group with friends to a. tell them where hatch is or b. to even inform they had a key. 3 gens to get out 2 survivors if and only if, 1 of those has a key, knows where the hatch is, and the second player knows the plan is to hatch jump.

Of the many games I've played as survivor, I've escaped through hatch without a key when I was the only remaining survivor many times. I've only escaped once with a key, and have been killed countless times with one, or witnessed someone in my group being killed with one.

Escaped 1 with key vs. too many to count 4ks with Moris. Just my perspective and I'm more casual than many.. Keys escapes may happen every other match in the high ranks. idk, but Mori 4ks happen every few matches, and I just shrug it off and move to the next one

  • IDK.

Mori - I Agree.. make it more common in the web and just a cool way for a quicker kill as opposed to taking a survivor to their final hang.

Key - You still have to a. find the hatch, b. pop all the gens and open the gates before you can even open it with a full squad, right? So to me, the argument against keys is nothing more than a complaint that it might prevent a 4k GAME, whereas a mori prevents an unlucky caught survivor. NO GAME.

I mean, as a killer, if i killed 2 and they could escape with just 3 gens popped, there is 50% chance i already killed the key carrier. If you only killed 1 and 4 gens are done, you might not be able to prevent the escape anyhow. If all 4 could jump out the hatch at start of the match, i'd see your point.. it would be exactly like queueing up as survivor and getting NO GAME by being a victim of MORI. At least you can see the key in lobby and know who is carrying one; preventing you from just being able to troll the last 3 generators after 4 have popped. If all 4 survivors are escaping you with key, they would have gotten you via gate as well, or maybe you get one..

  • I think a horse could work.. think Billy's Saw run. Horseman calls for horse(phantom type steed) and has about the same control as a saw charge on steed and could 1 shot with a cutlass, but would obviously suffer same stun penalties if the steed ran him into an object.. where the steed would continue to run, but dislodge him from the horse (either warranting another summon or going on foot).

Breaking pallets, same spectral steed called in to crash down on the pallet and then runs off(but with animations that require the same time as a normal pallet crush). I'm thinking of horseman not attached to a horse, but the horse as a tool(ghost horse companion with little to no control).. even the summon.. like it is running by him and he latches on to its neck running near straight lines to either slice with cutlass or jump off some distance traveled. Horse is always in motion and moves through objects, but rider does not.. causing stuns.

  • They could do like Socom did back in the day. In Game chat (push to chat), say the survivors have walkies or some sort of communication device. when you push to chat, if the killer is in proximity, he can hear it too (direction and static sound of a walkie talkie or phone). It was great in socom.. you could chat with team, but if someone was within earshot of you, they could hear everything you were planning and pretty much know exactly where you were.

I don't see how you'd ever be able to keep people from discord, or PS Party, etc. I only solo lately. it would be nice to have in game chat. i think even with 2-3 person swfs, they might be more likely to use in-game if it means being able to communicate with the 4th player which BHVR could code to where the killer could hear.

I'm not high rank, but as a PS player, i see many teammates running same meta perks, but they are very rarely SWF when I can see their friends lists. If survivors were really concerned with chat, they'd invite me, the solo player, to their party, but I've only ever gotten 1 invite before a match and it was from the killer wanting achievements. At higher ranks they may all be SWFs, but I think many times some killers, not all killers, just assume it.

Also, when my friends are on, we die just as frequently and mostly just chat about non game stuff.. you know, just being friends.. only time conversation stops is when someone yells, 'he's got me!!' Take with a grain though, I'm way more casual than many on here.

  • I think Sleepy Hollow would be great. It wouldn't even require Depp or Sleepy Hollow license. Washington Irving wrote the short story 'The legend of Sleepy Hollow", but I'm not sure if anyone owns the license for A Headless Horseman as the folklore of headless horse riders had been around well before Irving wrote his book about Ichabod Crane.

I'm not sure where the license for Ichabod Crane lies or if one would even need to be procured.

The Headless Horseman, is an iconic killer, but his horse kind of makes him the killer he is. I'm not sure how you could have a horse in dbd.. talk about cross map gen pressure, but 0 to no looping due to slow horse turning. Maybe he'd have like a phantom steed that rushes akin to billy saw or spirit invis(i'm thinking that gross deathly looking horse on the carnival map), but he hops off at arrival and chases on foot.. throwing his pumpkin head at survivors would be awesome!! He could even, instead of stomping on pallets, summon spectral steed to rear up and smash them with front hooves.

  • I think time/money vested is the biggest problem this game faces in balance.. coupled with rank resets.

I've played on/off for a bit, and have only prestiged 3 survivors. I don't use or even have access to some of the meta perks and even as I lose, I'm constantly ranking up. I've played consistently for a week now and have moved from 20 -> 11 and my odds of winning diminish with every climb in rank. I feel that even survivors on my team are trolling me and giving me up to the killer at times(shining lights on me or popping my gens). By the end of game, I'm usually the only one that doesn't have rank 3 perks from multiple different characters.

How is the game ever going to be balanced or inviting to new players if the new players are playing side by side with others of similar level who have previously invested the time and money to acquire all the perks from the majority of the whole roster? I've faced rank 16-20 killers who have all tier 3 perks from multiple killers, and my Nea, for example isn't even lvl 15 for her 3rd perk. I understand the grind, but newcomers will not realize what is going on, or why they got destroyed, and either uninstall or research. Most people today would uninstall unless really drawn to the concept(which I was as a horror fan)

Overabundance of perks is only making it more and more difficult to balance as time goes by. I'd honestly prefer each killer/survivor with their own 3 perks(not shareable across) and then a pool of fewer universal perks to choose from. You might actually get a team of 4 different survivors to use their unique talents to aid the team as opposed to the same 4 survivors all just borrowing the best perks from other survivors. IDK... Obviously, I'm not as knowledgeable about the high level play and meta stuff, but I do know a smaller set of mechanics would be easier to balance. It would also be nice to not see 3 of the same survivor on a team.. how about locking a character out when selected by another.

  • I like the concept, but free unhooking? no, that would just be unfair. I think if the killer is at closer proximity and camping the hook, you would be more terrified and struggle harder to get off the hook knowing friends might not be coming to save you... for every 5 meters up to 20 meters maybe... increase the odds of unhook by 2%.. 10%, 8%, 6%, 4% chances depending on killer proximity. Then, even reaching up to pretend to unhook becomes it's own minigame to push back the camping killers.... or they just continue to face camp, waiting for you to pull off the hook. In hindsight, probably better to hang, accept your fate, and let the 3 others have a chance for survival.

It would be nice if they got close enough, you could swing your legs up around their neck, propel self off of hook, stunning them and running for safety

  • Jason is my #1 and I think these could be added to list.

    • Friday the 13th: Jason
    • Jeepers Creeper: The Creeper
    • Trick-r-Treat: Sam
    • The Shining: Jack Torrence w/ "Here's Johnny!" on successful locker find.
    download.jpg

  • Jason Vorhees.

I'd like to see some of the remaining iconic slashers in this order (yes, i like originals too, but the icons sold me on the game, and i know tons of horror buffs that would get into the game if it only had Jason.. he being their favorite):

Jason, The Creeper, Sam (Trick-r-Treat), Chucky, Candyman, Pinhead

Sam and Creeper are not as iconic, but I think they'd fit in well.

I would also like to see an original Scarecrow.. too many farm fields to not have a scarecrow of sorts. I also really like ghost pirate, mummy, werewolf ideas.

  • May have been said as I did not read all 3 pages of posts, but if SWFs are superior, *build in game chat*, and balance game based on survivor communication. If people still choose to stay partied with 2 and not join the game chat, that is on them. And that if is subjective. As stated by some killer mains, they don't find it much more difficult, so maybe no adjustments are warranted, but with all that said, in game chat would be nice! I run solo survivor all the time and nothing worse than all 3 players going for 1 hooked survivor (mind you, I only dabble in the game and by no means climb the ranks)

  • My list, ordered by most wanted (*licensed):

    1. Horror Slashers* - Jason, The Creeper, Sam (Trick-r-Treat), Chucky, Candyman, Pinhead
    2. Jack Torrence* ("Here's Johnny" on successful locker grab)
    3. Scarecrow, Mummy, Werewolf (Originals mentioned elsewhere)
    4. Pennywise*
    5. Alien* (I was never keen on the monster/alien types as they aren't really supernatural slashers, but they broke that seal by adding Demogorgon). If they do alien, it would be cool to see a spaceship level and instead of generators, some kind of circuit panels which open cargo doors with escape pods/ships, but begs the question.. how did the survivors get into space?
    6. Pirate, Viking (Originals mentioned elsewhere)
    7. Universal Classics (The Mummy and The Wolf Man if not done as originals listed above)
    • The Mummy
    • The Wolf Man
    • Dracula
    • Frankenstein
    • Creature from the Black Lagoon
    • Phantom of the Opera
    • The Invisible Man
    • Bride of Frankenstein
