  • Yeah, I'm gutted by the rework. Myers is what really got me into dbd and its my main as well.

I find myself now playing him like a generic killer cause he's relegated to fast chases instead of meticulous strategic pursuit. Like many people have said, he really only needed some tweaks, not complete overhaul.

  • I play mainly killer and I love it when survivors sends butthurt messages. We actually love going back and reading messages cause I troll them back and I have a funny message that I send them that infuriates them more, and we end up laughing about it.

So don't take those messages seriously, troll them back. lol, its fun! :)

  • Whoever posted those images has some serious mental illness. Its not just the fact that he posted it to troll people, but if those are the images that he's looking when surfing the net, he need serious psychological evaluation.

Couldn't believe it at first, thought is this AI? but after seeing the rest of the pics, it was disgusting.

i said it many times and will say again, old myers actually felt like a threat. as survivor, if i know its a myers i wouldnt dare get in his face because i know its game over if i do. i certainly wouldnt try to piss him off by tbagging at every opportunity because 1 slip and i know im getting tombstoned. it made the game feel scary and tense like horror games should feel. Not only that but it was a breath of fresh air to get a myers instead of a speed freak auto tunneler like ghoul, blight, nurse. Myers had counter play which was avoid line of sight, or stay on a gen or use lockers or hop on a totem if there is one nearby. He had virtually no anti loop and no speed so he needed somthing to give him a bit of an edge.

New Myers is a joke if im honest, he still lacks the speed for traveling around the map, he still has pretty much no anti loop (his dash is mediocre at best), hes still very much map dependant but he lost his tombstone edge so he no longer seems like a threat. i feel confident to get in his face, drop a tbag and run….worst case is i get downed and hooked. i would never do that with a tombstone myers. personally i think new Myers is way more boring to go against than old Myers. Added to the fact so far every match i have had with a new myers i have escaped and mostly ends with 3 man escapes. i have seen Myers get 2k at best in my matches as survivor.

Was tombstone piece op? maybe, but they should have tweaked it imo not neutered him completely by removing it entirely. True myers can basekit tombstone after the survivor is on death hook but by that point its pointless and provides very little benefit, 0 benefit if that survivor is alreadly injured. might as well just down them and hook them as normal.

I agree completely. When I used to play survivor all the time, the only killer that really I'm scared of going against was Myers. He's not like other killers where its just generic goal of fast chases, rinse, repeat.

I always dreaded he might pop out of nowhere and I'm always tense as he can pop anywhere. Myers may seem weak to casual gamers, but its because the way to play him takes a lot of mind games. If he was chasing you, and disappear, is he still on the chase, did you lose him, or still lurking in the background?

My biggest issue is the rework of Vanity Mirror as its my biggest asset to play Myers. Scratch mirror is just a meme add-on, its great to scare some people, but good luck playing against good players, or playing with other than probably 3 maps you can only use that on.

Vanity Mirror lets me not care which map, or whoever I'm playing against. Of course, like any games, when its a great team that plays great teamwork, they'll win, but I usually do well and can get 3k to 4k many times.

With new Myers, I'm typically 0k to 1k on most games. And I feel they just made him bland and play like generic killers…fast chases, use power, rinse, repeat.

Myers was the only one that really keeps me sometimes in playing dbd. I'll play other killers to mix things up, but he's the one I really enjoy playing. Its another example of if it aint broke, don't fix it. Or better yet, just tweak some things and let players decide. Look at the add ons, everything revolves around this new play set. The only silver lining is the New Halloween game coming out next year. I hope it plays like the old Myers.

  • Exactly, he feels like a generic killer now. Myers could have used maybe a few tweaks, but don't completely change the way he works. Its really hard to be a stealthy killer now. My biggest gripe is missing the old Vanity Mirror…if you have to kick a gen, if they're hiding nearby, "Ah, there you are, and you can go back to being stealthy in hunting them down. Now, you kick a gen, there goes your 4 seconds. Really a big fail with just this add on, as most of my presets are built off Vanity Mirror.

Scratch mirror is trash, and that's the one they kept. The only time you'll do well is playing against newbie players. Once players know you're scratch Myers, you don't stand a chance. Devs probably thought its what Myers main want as you have all these Peekaboo Myers YouTube videos. But if you really want to be skilled in being a sneaky killer, old Vanity Mirror is basically THE Myers power that totally makes him different than other killers. Now Myers feel like another generic killer.

    Weird...

    I’m not doubting you.

Just that camping was the dumbest thing to do as old Freddy.

He was much more of a force to be reckoned with when he focused on the survivors as a whole by making sure those that woke up were put back to sleep ASAP

Probably Old Freddy that was played on the PC side. Maybe since there's more PC players, most of them know how to utilize his powers.

I play on PS4, and maybe most of these new console players dont bother to learn how to play him, so they resort to just rinse and repeat camping. I would joke about it that Freddy is the bane of my game experience.

Newbies had great trouble with old Freddys invisibility and aura reading.

But the devs did say one of the core reasons for the rework was that they felt the action penalty was far too un-fun for survivors. Which is another way of saying he was indeed OP in one particular aspect.

Truth is, in capable hands, if old Freddy ran the right build and right add ons, and didn’t want the survivors to get the gens repaired, then those survivors absolutely were NOT getting those gens repaired. That was kinda OP and oppressive.

The problem with the old Freddy was that 8 out of 10, at least the ones I encountered, were Campers. If they caught you, you get hanged...they wait til someone unhangs you, and you take a few steps and sure enough, he's right behind you. Hang, and he'll just wait there until someone frees you and chase you again until you die. After I die, I watch the game, and he does the same thing to next player. Rinse and repeat.

so I'm actually glad about the Freddy's new powers. I've yet to encounter a camper Freddy since the upgrade.

This is a very well thought out post. While I don't think the game is perfectly balanced (certain perks, items, add ons and killers need various kinds of tweaking), I do not think that one side is heavily favored over the other in general. There are way too many factors that go into each trial, especially due to RNG, to make blanket statements such as killers or survivors are OP. But certain killers, like Trapper, do need some buffs and QoL changes that would greatly improve their standing (for him: holding multiple traps by default, being able to reset traps when pulling survivors out of them, etc).

I have great games and terrible games on both sides. Sometimes I destroy survivors, sometimes I get destroyed. Sometimes I am able to run a killer around or juke them endlessly, sometimes they outsmart me and I'm practically useless to my team that trial.

Thanks. True, indeed the game isnt perfectly balanced, as most games like these will always need some improvements. But basically, I was referring in General, the game is more balanced than I thought. When you play 95% of the time as a survivor, and up until recently, didnt really care to play killer, it can be frustrating, and you start to think that developers are only listening to hardcore players that frequent the forum. I'm more of a casual player, and I was starting to feel that developers didnt care for those players.

I usually dont mind paying dlc's to support game makers that I feel are doing a great job. So when I first started playing this game and was enjoying it, I was buying dlc's and skins, etc. But for awhile when I thought this game was broken, I said to myself that I wont invest anymore penny on this game.

But now that I realize that the game is more balanced than I thought, then I certainly wont mind putting more money into the game if there's something that I end up wanting in the future.

The killer experience is typically SUPER easy at rank 20, expecially if you already have some knowledge about map layouts, perks and all that from your survivor experience. This can give ppl a false idea of what its like if they dont play it often. I remember talking with someone who barely touched killer and thought Wraith and old Freddy were OP because they could be invisible. In reality, things that work against rank 20s dont work nearly as well against rank 5s.

I didnt even think about that. Very true.

  • @Johnny_XMan said:

The thing is as killer you have more control over your own actions. As solo survivor you don’t, you rely on others and put your faith in them that they have half a brain to do something.

Which is why I find SWF balanced. Not because of comms but because I trust them to do the right thing when it comes down to it.

Agreed completely. That's why I do think that its still more heartbreaking when you play as a solo survivor.

Even when I have a close game as a killer, and hook someone when the last gen was done, and they they eventually save him and everyone lives, I dont get upset and actually give props for the group for playing so well to have everyone survive in the end.

But as a solo survivor, like yesterday, I played 3 straight games where we finished all gens, and I did at least 2 gens by myself, and I still died in the end. Its definitely still more hearbreaking playing as a solo survivor.

But I'm just glad though that I dont think anymore that killers are too OP.

Man, I was playing last night where I couldnt even kill any surivivors. At one point, It was even so bad I couldnt even hit a survivor. lol.

The only way you can defend yourself against the killer is with The Flashlight. Nothing else.

I havent seen flashlight work in like...forever.

Anytime I see someone uses flashlight, killer just looks away.

  • The killer long wait is unusual.

Survivor wait though is not unusual. Even before bp, its not uncommon for me to sit there and wait 10 minutes for a game.

I hope they fix this issues soon for ps4.

  • @Bithard said:

What kind of gun though? I'm sure a Nerf gun would do for legion but you are going to need a grenade launcher for trapper 😂

Or a gun that nukes the map by firing Head On Jane 🤔

Just a regular handgun. Just enough to stun the killers for a few seconds, which could be the difference between actually being able to survive or still die.

I got the idea, this week from almost surviving a few times this week on endgame, with literally, just a second or two from opening the gates. I thought of how people complain and asks for the gates to be further apart, or make the gates open a little faster, or how I wished I had at least a firecracker to run away and stall the killer and stun them a few seconds to run back and try to open the gate again.

With the fireworks only given during that limited time, I thought about instead of fireworks, how about random handguns?

This way, developers dont even need to alter the distance between the gates.

And since the gun is random, majority of times, you're still screwed on Endgame.

If you had the gun and used it early, you're screwed. If you're chased when the exit gates are open and wasnt able to use the gun in time and get hooked, you're screwed.

Its a random chest loot, and someone else got the gun, you're screwed.

The gun was never in any of the chests, you're screwed.

At this point, once the killer closes the hatch, I think I have only seen a handful of people escape, once the hatch is closed, It usually results with an auto-death. You're screwed.

Finally playing a very good game...1 v 1...the hatch is closed, sneak to a gate...two seconds from opening the gate...killer is here...run away from gate, try to loop, use the gun to hopefully stun the killer, run back to gate, and hopefully have enough time to open the gate...survive...EPIC!

  • Again, this is not to give every players guns, but only as a random chest loot, like the fireworks.

  • Its not a a fighting game concept. Its a concept thats in the majority of horror movies.

Heck, the very first Halloween, Loomis shoots Myers, only to see his body gone.

Its in many horror movies, How many times have you seen in a horror movie, people shoot the boogieman/Killer, Only to see the killer eventually get up again?

This is a horror game, that's not a new concept.

People here always make it seem like everyone here plays with great SWF groups.

I've only played a few times with a good group. 95% of the time, I play solo, just like a lot of other people who bought this game.

With People playing hide and seek instead of working on generators, DC at the first chance they can get, etc.

There's a lot of people that play this game, only as a casual players.

With the introduction of Endgame, its made it even harder. Not everyone can be hardcore players.

This is not to make the game easy, its only to give people who play casual, or solo a fighting chance, and introduce something that's not even new to horror movies.

To be honest, I actually do like the idea of a single-use gun in DBD as a really rare item (perhaps one that can only be found in chests and can't be taken out of a trial). Give it a big-ass recoil so that if the Survivor screws up the shot, they're basically down for the count.

Exactly! Its not like an auto "I win" mode.

Just like the seasonal fireworks we got from chests.

Use it early and wished you saved it in the end.

Use it later, only to be downed by the killer for the last time.

Its situational and still requires a strategy.

Look at all these topics of please remove Endgame. Its a way to actually keep it, but give survivors a fighting chance to survive endgame.

Think about the seasonal Fireworks we got from the chests.

Use it early and you wished you saved in the end.

use it later, and not get a chance to use it if the killer was able to hook you for the last time.

Still requires strategy if you're lucky to get one.

  • Yeah, this game is extremely buggy for ps4.

Kinda frustrating, cause its a fun game. But my experience when I first log on...

wait 10 minutes. Play one game...then wait another 10 minutes...

Then get queued to play, and before the game starts, kicked out...

wait another 10 minutes, game about to start...gets kicked out again and need to queue back in again.

    Just tooo much waiting.

Which makes it frustrating when someone DC...cause then have to wait another 10 minutes to play.

There's a bit of an issues there: Someone could just restart the game after disconnecting to avoid that. It would count as a different session so the counter would reset.

We are currently in the planning phase for a new system to punish disconnects, though. It's a very high priority for us and we're hoping to have it out at the same time as dedicated servers. For more details, check here: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/63559/

Very glad to hear you guys are making it a priority to fix the DC issues.

I absolutely love this game, but there was a period there recently, where I finally stopped playing for weeks. I recently, just now started playing again, and it feels like the DC is even worse. lol

Thank you for the response, and keep up the good work! :)
