  • I was expecting people like "This event is so good" but I'm actually supirsed theirs complaints. I hate it myself cause the wait time for killer is so long i can't play and when I wanna play regular game mode I can't cause everyone's on 2v8. It's annoying

    Ahem -

Clown - As much as I like him as a character - I like clowns - I haven't played him since I've experienced how unbelievably unfair he is. His drugs making you slower and unable to vault or pull a pallet, when Clown is already faster than you, just isn't fair. And the counter? Pray he misses - that's not really a good way to make a character.

Freddy - He's nowhere near as weak as people say he is. The fact he's able to teleport to gens, by itself, is already a BS ability. Not to mention the fact I have yet to face a Freddy who wasn't toxic.

Xenomorph - She has a similar issue that Freddy has, with the added annoyance of having a longer range and a speed ability that doesn't inhibit her ability to hit you. Plus, those little turrets of hers don't really do anything.

Leatherface - One hit downs are not healthy for this game, whatsoever. Not to mention how toxic his mains tend to be.

Deathslinger - Where Huntress's hatchets at least feel avoidable, Deathslinger's shot doesn't. Not to mention, yet again, how toxic his mains tend to be. And, this is a personal pet peeve, when it's Deathslinger, I'm always spawned next to him, and either spend most of the match trying to run, or I get tunneled out.

Michael - Really, my only issue with Michael is my same issue with Sadako and Pyramid Head - a killer being able to kill you, without hooking you - regardless of whether they need an add-on or not to do it - is not fair. Other than that, a Michael without the add-on is actually not that bad to face. And Sadako can be pretty scary, so she's pretty fun to face in my opinion, even if I hate her insta-kill move - though I relent that with her it more comes down to user error than anything.

Wesker - I don't hate Wesker, but Weskers sure as heck hate me. I don't think any other killer has had some sort of grudge against me as Wesker has. I dunno if it's who I play, or the aura I resonate, or just my user name, but every time I face a Wesker, these S.O.B.s hard target me, and I don't know what I did to them. He'd be fine to face if each one of them didn't put me in their crosshairs every time they see me, whether they're already chasing someone or not. Don't me wrong, this has led to pretty funny moments - like when my friend was running from him, and as she warned me, I get pinned against the rock I was walking in front of. But no - Wesker mains, ######### did I do to make you hate me so?

Blight - Do I even need to say anything?

Nah actually, I love blight. I don't understand the hate on him. Please elaborate

Can't you just be a "hard boiled guy" and like turn around then walk away once you open the gate

I do then they play the sore winner move and do the "come here" wave move. It's annoying

    what is your current setup?

We would need to know which platform you are playing on, Ethernet or WLAN connection, do you see the red ping indicator in-game, what’s your internet speed supposed to be - maybe run a speed test online.

Do you play other online games and are those running smoother or same problem?

I play on playstation , and this is the only game this happens on, I'll be on cod on my internet is perfect. No red ping indicator either, it's just my character refusing to go forward or backwards, I can only walk sideways.

    Hey guys,
i just booted up DbD and went into a game when i noticed my game would stutter like every 1-2sec.
I checked everything, no other programs where open like Medal.tv oder Geforce expierence,
it started today, yesterday was all fine. No problems etc.

I dont know where to ask this but if anyone had the same issue and could help me, i would be very thankfull since i cant play the game anymore with perma stuttering.

If this question doesnt belong here (im new) im sorry, just delete it then :)

    Kind regards
    Pandah

Yea, I think some players are having that problem cause it's happening to me too, so bad I can't play and I'm still bronze rank when I would be iridescent by now. They probably won't fix it till anniversary. It sucks i know but you gotta work through it.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/416670/what-do-survivors-want

Ideally, everything that makes a killer feel "required" should become baskit, many of these "this thing is faster" or "this is slightly better" addons are just required to play the killer, otherwise it feels miserable.

    • Trapper feels bad without a bag addon
    • Wraith feels bad without windstorm and swift hunt
    • Billy feels bad without cooldown reduction
    • Nurse feels bad without attack range addon
    • Myers feels bad without stalk speed increase
    • Hag feels bad without range increase
    • Doctor feels bad without range increase
    • Huntress feels bad without windup speed increase
    • Bubba feels bad without chili
    • Freddy just feels bad and all his addons are horrible
    • Pig feels bad without charge speed increases
    • Clown feels bad without reload speed
    • Spirit feels bad without movement speed increases
    • Legion feels bad without frenzy duration/movement speed
    • Plague feels bad without extra fountains
    • Ghostface feels bad without cooldown reduction
    • Demo feels bad without movement speed increases
    • Oni feels bad without charge speed increases
    • Deathslinger feels bad without reload speed increases
    • Pyramid head feels bad without range speed increases (although all the other addons are terrible)
    • Blight feels bad without speed increases
    • Twins feels bad without toy sword
    • Trickster feels bad without movement speed increases
    • Nemesis addons are all bad and should feel bad
    • Cenobite feels bad without that one purple addon to spawn extra change
    • Artist feels bad without repel time reduction and cooldown reduction
    • Sadako feels bad without the movement speed boost on teleport
    • Dredge feels bad without the one that lets him break out of locked lockers faster
    • Wesker feels bad without the egg
    • Knight feels bad without the map of the realm
    • Skull merchant feels bad without undetectable duration and cooldown reduction
    • Singularity feels bad without duration increase
    • Xenomorph feels bad without flamethrower reduction addoons
    • Chucky feels bad without cooldown addons
    • Unknown feels bad without the teleport recovery speed
    • Vecna feels bad without fly addons (so far in my experience)

I really think they need to do a massive overhaul of addons. Anything that feels "required" should just become basekit completely and the addon system should be reworked. Addons should never just "increase x thing" or "decrease x thing" they should be cool unique gameplay changes.

    Basically you should have:

    • 4 brown addons
    • 4 yellow addons
    • 3 green addons
    • 2 purple addons
    • 2 iri addons

I honestly think wraith is the best designed killer in terms of addons, despite him feeling bad in a few cases

Brown addons should always just increase bloodpoints and NOT weaken the power.

Yellow addons should always have 1 that gives double bloodpoints and weakens the power (hard mode addon/farming) and the others should do minor ADDITIONS to the power

Green addons should be major ADDITIONS to the power

Purple Addons should do minor CHANGES to the power

Iri addons should do MAJOR changes to the power.

So for example, if i were to redesign wraith's addons that were bad i would have all of his addons be like this:

    Basekit changes:

    • Purple windstorm now made base kit
    • Purple Swift hunt now made base kit

    Brown:

    • Gain 100% bonus bloodpoints in the brutality category, and hitting a survivor out of cloak gives an additonal 100% bloodpoints in brutality
    • Gain 100% bonus bloodpoints in the deviousness category, and uncloking near a survivor grants bonus bloodpoints in the deviousness category (new score event)
    • Gains 100% bonus bloodpoints in the hunter category, and being near a survivor while cloaked grants bonus bloodpoints in the hunter category
    • Gains 100% bonus bloodpoints in the sacrifice category, and gain bonus bloodpoints when a survivor is sacrifice while you are in a chase (promote not camping)

    Yellow

    • Grants 100% bonus bloodpoints in all categories, but reduces the movement speed bonus you get after uncloaking
    • Hitting a survivor with a surprise attack grants blindness for 60 seconds
    • Breaking a pallet, wall, or generator with automatically uncloak you
    • Your undetectable lasts for another 6 seconds after uncloaking

    Green

    • Hitting a survivor with a surprise attack grants mangled and Hemorrhage for 70 seconds
    • Reveals the aura of survivors within 8 meters of your location while cloaked
    • Survivors are unable to tell the direction or distance of the wailing bell (becomes a background noise)

    Purple

    • Action speeds while cloaked are 75% faster, but action speeds while uncloaked are 35% slower.
    • The wailing bell becomes completely silent and the wraith no longer makes noises while cloaked, but uncloaking takes 50% longer

    Iridescent

    • Movement speed is decreased to 3.85 m/s, the wraith can hit survivors out of cloak. Performing an action or an attack will uncloak the wraith. Cloaking now takes 100% longer. Starts the trial uncloaked (this tells survivors this addon is in play)
    • While cloaked, see the aura of all generators and their progress, and generators that are being repaired will be highlighted in blue, but while uncloaked you suffer from the blindness status effect.

So like, the gist is, brown addons are for bloodpoint farming. There's a yellow for more intense bloodpoint farming that makes it harder. The rest of the yellows give minor additions to the power. The greens give more major additions to the power. The purple changes the power in some smaller ways by strengthening in some ways or weakening in others, and the purple changes your power completely, almost as if you were a different killer.

These probably are not balanced at all, but i'm just showing like the kinds of things they should do.

As an oni main, the charge speed means nothing. As long as you can balance chase and blood orb absorption your good. Sure it's a bit hard to balance it at time but keeping at least an injured survivor distracted from healing is better than having no power for along duration cause the blood orbs give more progress towards blood fury. So once you down the survivor, hook them then go get the blood orbs.

So, I mostly just like Dead by Daylight for the lore instead of actual gameplay. I understand a lot of the lore, but there's just one thing I've never been able to grasp: what is the Dredge? I know he's supposed to just be a manifestation of negative emotions, but what is he really? (Like, as a species). I know the Unknown's whole thing is that its' origins are a mystery, but I feel like the Dredge's origins are even harder to understand than the Unknown. The Dredge seemed to be more like a Tulpa than a manifestation of negative emotion to me. Can someone help explain this? Trust me, if it's about the Dredge, you'll know more than me.

Personally don't know, but I have heard people say he's a sort of fragment made by the entity. I could see it cause he does have a pocket dimension which he pulls survivors in when he does his mori.

It helps! What perks do you run on him? What are your favorite addons?

It depends, im trying a build to get max potential from my power so I'm using Hysteria, Play with you food, Thrilling Tremors and Nowhere to hide (That ones kinda filler for me). My favorite addons are the fang (Increases blood fury by like 8-10 seconds, i forgot) and i also run Renjiros bloody glove (So if anyone runs into a blood orb i get some aura reading benefit). Hope this helps

Would love some help, suggestions, builds. I play on ps5 :)

    pleaseeeee

Gotcha bro. So when it comes to ability it kinda depends on your playstyle. Either you go for the multi or you knock one and then pick up which save charge. For builds, I recommend at least one recon perk so you know where your going when you activate blood fury, for me I run Thrilling tremors so I can grab a survivor and see if anyone is on a generator. But it honestly just depends on your playstyle. Hope that helped you.

I'm not super tech-savvy when it comes to the nitty gritty of computer stuff, so I'm not sure if this is a me issue that's suddenly started happening with coincidental timing or if the big update started making a lot of people crash along with the rubberbanding issues I've seen people having.

I feel like I'm crashing all the time, with it happening nearly every match I play when I'm SWF. The game runs okay (aside from aforementioned rubberbanding occasionally) and it always happens when I'm loading back into the lobby after a match. I've checked my internet and it's fine, and I've verified my dbd files and that's all well and good. I have no idea if this is just something I'm dealing with in a vacuum or if this is widespread.

Yea, it's not crashes for me but the lag is nuts. I know it's dbd cause my other games are fine. I'm forcing myself to play with this internet and I can't even get a kill or if I'm playing survivor j can't even run, when I do run I get rubberbanded back where I ran from. It's annoying.

  • @Lexidoll said:

Windows use rate is now at 35% usage rate, meaning that it's guaranteed that minimum one survivor will have it and at worse every survivor will have it. But on average 2 to 3 survivors WILL have windows equipped. This somehow beats out pain res and pop as those perks have 28% usage rate.

you'd think all this perk does is give the survivor information how could this perk have 35% usage rate?
If you only play survivor the reasoning for this isn't going to be obvious and probably think how could it possibly be ruining the game.

Imagine for a second if every match you get into doesn't have a weak link, if every single match you get into every survivor knows EXACTLY where to run to the next resource, knows where the deadzones are and actively avoids them or runs past pallets to window vaults to save resources because they know they will make it to the window, even if it's completely obscured without ever even coming to that part of the map before.

THAT is what windows does, it single-handily raises the skill floor of every survivor you run into with it.
A survivor that without it would be running into the edge map and going down because they do not know where any resource is, since it was buffed has become a survivor that knows EXACTLY where every resource is and all they have to do is run to the yellow aura. If the killer is a hold W killer, like tapper, pig etc. This essentially means trying to break pallets in connecting loops to create deadzones is pointless and only starts actually helping when the distance between pallets becomes so great you catch up to them before they make it to anything.

Originally when it was buffed and even pre-buff the mood behind it was that if you're good at the game you don't need to use it, and most don't. the issue however is that it makes a bad survivor that should be going down quickly, last so much longer and all they have to do is look forward and hold W to achieve this.

(This is probably one of the single most frustrating things for me in the game right now, a clearly low skill player never looking back, only holding W, running me for a whole gen just because they know they will make it to the next yellow aura before I can hit them)
(The amount of times I'm chasing someone and they run directly to the edge of grim pantry and find the one pallet between the trees is starting to get to me.)

The knock on effect of this is that if you combo it with lithe (checks notes: is the second most used perk in the game, only beaten by windows) EVERY chase you start where the survivor isn't exhausted which will be the case most of the time. will run to a loop, vault a window and run to the next furthest away yellow aura, rinse repeat until either you mindgame them or they run out of resources. which just extends the chase by 10 - 30 seconds every single time it happens. which just translates into more gen progress.

And the knock on effect of gens getting done "faster" because chases are artificially being extended, is killers will bring more and more gen slowdown, play killers that have anti chase / anti loop and generally play sweatier and sweatier, which makes survivors play sweatier and sweatier with no end in sight.

In a world where survivors don't know where every resource is and isn't you could break a connecting / filler pallet of a good survivor who's gonna make it to a stronger tile, drop chase and chase another survivor into that area and get a hit because the next survivor wont know there isn't a pallet there anymore, until they visually see it.
However again, because lithe windows has such a high usage rate, half the survivors you chase will just run past areas they know the resource is gone and will always run towards where the resources still are, again and again.

And now that we're seeing nerfs for a bunch of the most used killer perks, especially anti gen perks without so much as a mention for a perk that has a 10% higher usage rate. Do people, including the devs not realize just how strong windows is? Gens are going faster because chases are lasting longer. Do people just think, oh it's a new player perk so it's fine if it has a high usage rate because it's "helping" low skill players?

That is the EXACT reason it is so strong, it's just so much more insidious because you don't hear a long gong when it's used, you don't see it from a distance. you only see it when you see a survivor holding W, not looking back, making it to every pallet on the map. every. single. time.

I don't want the perk gutted, it IS useful perk for new players. It just needs it's old cooldown back, or shouldn't be usable in chase after the first window / pallet. That's all I'm asking for, because as it is. I genuinely think it's unhealthy, chases are lasting much longer, gens are getting more progress because chases are lasting longer, low skill players are getting propelled into higher skill lobbies, and the only current counter to everyone running it is running blindness perks/ addons, which people largely consider the worst in the game, just to disable one perk for 10 - 60 seconds.

Even if you think I'm complaining needlessly, if the devs are nerfing perks with a 9% usage rate, because they're giving the killer too much extra time, they NEED to nerf a perk with a 35% usage rate for the exact same reason.

I just learned to work around survivors who are using windows, plus of you play killer just rum zanshin. WoO isn't that bad if you know how to work around people who use it. It's perfect the way it is, personally as a killer main I don't think it needs any nerfs. And as I said before just run zanshin if you wanna try and counter it.

  • @jamally093 said:

Your playing survivor and you get the gens done exit gates are powered now your basically just going to sit at the exit gate for two minutes and teabag? Why first off you were hit and hooked so you can't really say hey I made it out without a scratch so screw you. Two its childish to me it is unless your staying there because a teammate is injured and you want some extra points go for it most times once I see okay their powered and no one is in chase with me I won't go near the gates I'll look in certain areas away from it kick a few pallets if any where left since I'm not giving extra points for 'boldness' because they want to stay just inches away from the exit. If it's to get under my skin doesn't really work "then why are making a post about it" because I can and I want to know why people do this unless the killer basically was just a jerk you know slugging and tunneling then they won't get a teabag from me because they played fair and worked hard so I don't waste their time I leave so I can get into the next match and so can they. So why do people still teabag at the gate I really don't see the point of it better yet I see as a your going to be screwed because there was a time killed a Jane as Deathslinger with NOED because she got way to greedy.

If it's like a chill ghostface I'll do it with him but I usually just do last second heals.

i get the frustration, you're obviously allowed to feel frustrated, but unfortunately at the end of the day, some people's fun is just from winning. it sucks playing for fun players get matched with people who don't care if the match is fun or not a lot of the time, but it definitely do be like that sometimes.

I understand that, I mean a wins a win but like. Seriously, do they gotta do it all the time. And when I'm not even tryna win but have a good time they wanna do it. When I'm actually trying I get babies in my servers but when I don't try I get p100 Leon's and Steve's. It's annoying

real, i cant play one game without meta perks no matter which role i play. If i try to goof around i just lose when the killer tunnels or survivors genrush and tbag at gates

I agree man, I had just tried playing a goofy hag build and I got a bully squad with flashlights, I didn't run lightborn cause its a waste of a slot in my opinion and of course they were all on their hands and knees for me too chase them. And 2 of em brought meta. I understand you wanna win but still like, at least have some creativity.

Pop is the only perk that you said that is good. Half the time my scourge hook placements are so stupidly placed that I don't get to use it at all. At least with pop I get value, I would rather floods of rage instead of pain res.

  • @yobuddd said:

Gens can definitely go quick, but there are strategies you can use. It’s worth mentioning that the repair time was actually increased by about 10 seconds fairly recently.

Are you new to the game? I’m only asking because with 12 posts, you’re new to the forum (and welcome!)

If you’re new, here’s my best advice:

    • Don’t play to win, instead play to learn. Pick a killer you like and use the match time for practice. Personally, I’m having a blast with Hillbilly. He’s tough to learn, but oh so fun! If gens go really fast, oh well, just remember that they got stare at a circle and you got to practice chases. You’ve already won!
    • Learn to spread pressure. If you’re chase goes by an active gen, sometimes there’s more value in letting the chase go so you can interrupt repairs. Getting around the map quickly to patrol gens is a huge plus (again, Hillbilly.)
    • Focus more on quick downs. (Ahem, Hillbilly 😁) Get someone on a hook, and then do the hardest thing for any new player to do: leave the hook! Patrol gens and stop repairs. Someone has to get the save, so that’s already pressure while you’re out there starting new chases.
    • If you’re learning a new killer, or trying to improve chasing skills, then the best thing is to be in chases often. If you have these perks, then here is my favorite “practicing” build: BBQ & Chili, Darkness Revealed, I’m All Ears, Nowhere to Hide. These are all aura perks. They help you to always be in a chase, but they don’t actually affect any game mechanics. That means anytime you win a chase, it was purely your skill! There are plenty of other information perks if you’re missing some of these. (Highly recommend Spies from the Shadows).

    I hope this helps!

Yo, actually I am relatively new. I just bought oni and have been merciless as any player should be. I haven't really got perks to make great builds so that's mainly why I'm complaining about the gen speeds. But thanks for the tips and hope your Billy game stays good.
