If you think so...
What's the point of posts like this? You think DBD devs will read this and say: "Oh this guy from the forum with 0 knowledge of the MMR implementation details must be absolutely correct, let's just throw the 2 years of MMR development into the bin."
No disrespect to anyone but have you seen the devs play this game? They are...not top-tier players.

Dead Hard doesn't cover a lot of distance as it is. It's a very short range dash.
Like I get how it can be annoying playing against multiple dead hards, but compared to every other exhaustion perk the distance the perk gives isn't much.
You are using it wrong. I abuse the leap for windows and pallets on the daily. Remove the immunity frames for it other than traps.

Not really 🤣.
Most high skilled killers say that the game swifted to killers' advantage and that most of the trials are boring to play now. Almost all well know streamer said it.
Some killer mains said this on this forum aswell.
But guys, you all defend camping & tunneling.
How is it possible to be unskilled to the point you don't see that this is a cheap mechanics lol... it's beyond me. As i said before, moderator should moderate the discussion around camping and tunneling. It's unhealthy for the game.
As a Killer it's super rare that survivors don't tell me gg in the end chat. I never get a "noob camper" or something. Well, if you think camping early is the only viable way to win a trial, you are bad at the game, that's all.
Sounds like a survivor main trying to take salty cheap shots.

Can't wait for all the killers crying here to be wiped out of the high rank trials.
I play killer as well and i will continue to play killer, properly, never using cheap mechanics as most of you do (campnig adn tunneling that you defend in every threads). And as a survivor i will enjoy to face skilled killers that do not camp and tunnel aswell.
It's not because you won't be part of the high ranked play that SBMM is bad. Maybe most killers should have never been part of high ranks playerbase.
:)
Sounds like a survivor main to me trying to take a cheap shot

If you wanna make your own nemesis just have a kid with your sister and teach him to be the perfect nemesis.
-
Trapper getting 2 traps base kit is a luxury. Won't change him getting stomped at a high level, you'll just feel mildly better about it.
-
The indoor maps are more balanced due to the way they suppress survivor information gathering and also give way to allow for more interesting play styles.
Survivors of course hate this. It is what it is.
-
The game lacks creativity which is to the detriment of balance. It's just a reskinned template for most of the killer palettes.
M1 reliant killers need buffs in the chase, seems that base vault speed increases would be helpful or increased base lunge speed or distance. Hell, even speed increases. Better chase will help with adding time for map pressure.
Stealth killers need help in stealth, buff undetectable and nerf spine chill. Reduce myers size and make GF's ability better - reduce his TR range.
Boost ranged killers to 115, reduce lunge range if required.
This lazy 1 size fits all approach to killer is horrid for a game implementing SBMM. The top-tier killers all have 1 thing in common. They are time efficient in the chase aspect of the game. The low-performing characters are simply not. There are some outliers but I am sure you get what I am saying.
-
the vids dont work
-
Its only worth getting Demo because all survivors are virtually identical.
-
SBMM isn't the issue, the game is the issue. It's built for the casual gamer and is extremely accessible. Accessibility lowers skill ceilings. Couple this with basic movement and environmental interactions and there's not much room for skill. There are of course outliers such as huntress for example. Huntress is a step in the right direction if you want to implement SBMM. There should be more killer designs following this direction with new unique ideas.
Agree with Otz but not for the reasons he states.
DBD's strongest marketing is through big streamers. If they don't cup their nuts the game will probably lose popularity at a noticeable rate.
Most streamers don't even seem to enjoy streaming this game as it is but don't have a choice due to financial commitments.
Other things to consider QoL (my opinion):
Widen killer FOV, fix stretched res, reduce survivor FOV, fix hit detection, reduce killer swing and hit radius (for better survivor dodge skill and killer hit interactions), give the option to remove aim assist (PLEASE!), buff stealth for both sides, fix overall sensory deprivation of killers (chase music is excessive), rework scratch marks, rework survivor objectives to incorporate other things (parts for the gens in the map to speed up gen repairs - reduced base gen speed), define what winning is for both sides, raise crap perks out of the dirt instead of nerfing good ones.

Honestly what is " Loop abuse " ? You mean their only defense to keep the game going? They can't fight back. The only other option is for you to just not find them. Would you rather have a game where you find no one and walk around aimlessly while gens pop and doors open?
and gen rushing is honestly such a stupid concept. It's really the only and the main objective for survivor. LITERALLY the job is " Do gens as fast and as much as you can before killer chases you off of it. You've got limited chances. " ---- Gen rushing isn't a thing, it's the priority. It's the objective. You're not applying gen pressure.
Are survivors supposed to just walk around and not do anything every few minutes?
You don't get it, clearly.

I am speaking specifically on the survivor side.
There are a lot of survivors complaining about Skill Based Match Making saying they get bad games now and it's not fun for them.
I personally have had the exact opposite, Survivor games are fantastic for me, people are actually trying to win, doing generators, saving their teammates, not getting downed in 2 seconds, many different, skilled killers being played like Hag, Hillbilly and Huntress. This is great!
I started thinking about it, and realistically, the only people who should be negatively affected by Skill-Based matchmaking are:
- Very High skilled people who will now get paired with equally high skilled, sweaty people
- Low skilled people who think they're good, but actually aren't
Now, I'm not trying to accuse anybody of anything, but all I'm saying is, most people probably aren't the high skilled people like Otzdarva or any content creator like that who have thousands upon thousands of hours in the game.
All I'm saying is, my experience from the tests that BHVR have put, says that the new matchmaking is doing it's job. I see a lot of other people who have had great experiences with the new matchmaking as well, and they all say the same things I do.
For those that are skeptical of the matchmaking, give it a try. You might actually like it.
For those that have had a negative experience with the matchmaking, maybe that's just where you belong :)
As for me, I am sure I will thoroughly enjoy SBMM when it is reimplemented into the game and I'll be glad to finally be able to play some good games of survivor and play some good games of killer without people instantly disconnecting when they see a killer they don't like.
Yeah but no. Otz got slaughtered during SBMM as did many big streamers. They didn't seem to enjoy it either and given that DBD streaming is the bulk of their income (whether directly or indirectly) they didn't have a choice. When I decide to play killer I tend to lean toward the lower-tier characters like Ghostface and Trapper. My win rates with these killers are well above 70% (by my definition 3k+) but during SBMM these killers are unplayable. So that weekend was a survivor weekend for me and every game was gen rush, gens before friends, loop abuse - in and out ASAP. This also was not fun.
The game was simply soulless while SBMM was active due to how fundamentally flawed the killer side is.
Before BHVR implements SBMM, they need to set some sort of standardized criteria for all the maps and treat each killer/killer category individually and review data within appropriate parameters. By killer category I mean M1/M2 reliance or ranged/stealth etc. This 1 or 2 foundational framework is holding killer back in 2016. Simple things like increasing base vault speeds on M1 killers is a step in the right direction.

This is a general discussion about how these perks are too strong.
The killer meta is overpowered and is a substitute for skill.
Can't stop the gens? Use Ruin.
Prevent the objective? Use POP.
Need more help stopping gens? Use Undying.
Need even more help stopping gens and help finding survivors before they can finish the hard to finish objective? Use Tinkerer.
Need more very easy to obtain bloodpoints for OP addons and auras to find survivors and stop the objective? Use BBQ.
NOED instantly causes the need to do 10 objectives. Devour Hope does exactly that as well.
Meanwhile, the killer objective cannot be changed or delayed.
Way too strong and is very unfair. These need to be nerfed.
It promotes unfun and unhealthy gameplay. It is causing genrush teams to be the only way to have a chance to win. With it being impossible to hide from so many aura and tracking perks, and killers having less and less counterplay, sitting on generators with no interaction with killer is the only way to win.
Until these are nerfed, if the killer wins with these perks you can't brag or feel good in the endgame. You didn't win. The perks won.
I call your bluff and raise you, good sir.
Survivors have a wide, high, and all-seeing camera.
Red Stain
Terror Radius
Time-consuming loops and pallet chains
Misleading scratch marks
Killer miss assist...aka aim assist
Survivor sided pallet stun hit denial
We won't even go into perks, items, and addons. I will keep it short and sweet on the BASE KIT.

How can people say that it's only the top 99.99% when SBMM was hell to play for rank 1 high win rate players. Even streamers struggled, it was an eye-opening experience into the state of the game. And it's not like we played the same people over and over. It was different teams every game. Once you hit rank 1 on killer there's no incentive to play it much anymore. A critical part of the game that no one wants to play and god forbid if you actually get a game that you would be grateful as survivor - especially if you lose.
And it's funny, people complain about this because they LOVE the game and what it could be. But survivors are happy because it's easy, and it really is. If you lose to a killer they probably didn't beat you. You beat yourself because you have everything you need to consistently win.

When the killer dcs it gives the survivors a disconnect penalty. Even if you are having a bad game there is no reason for you as a killer to dc and penalize the other people playing the game. The only thing we did is having the bad luck to face you in a match.
I know it has been said before, but it would be better if the devs penalized only the player who disconnects. Maybe a better solution would be if a killer dcs it immediately triggers the end game and opens the exit doors. Then the survivors can still escape but cannot just stick around indefinitely farming points.
What do you guys think? Is it cool to penalize others for the killer's actions or to penalize only those who abuse dc?
omg if that were the case id be dcing every game, salty end game lobby as the killer is the best part of playing killer
gimme those sweeeet sweeeet -reps
-
Quality of life for this game only applies to survivors. sorry better luck next game.
-
I reckon that the description should be the same as it is now and that at the end it should say "lel should have done bones in the 5mins you gen rushed".
Id actually use the perk if it said that NGL
-
Play to win if that's who you are! The problem I face is also being a sore winner when I play killer - I just CBF to queue again. I call it KILLER FATIGUE. That's when you queue survivor or you open your steam library and play risk of rain 2 in a vegetative state for a while.

Depends on what you mean by higher levels. If you simply mean rank 1, every killer killer on the roster is viable at all ranks. If we're talking about an actual 0.01% comp team, then sure, a lot of the roster isn't particularly viable. But nobody is running into them in a public match with any sort of regularity.
Its not uncommon in my region to come across 5k+ hour teams. It's why I only play killer to rank 1 every month and then leave it. I don't like the meta perk play styles and I don't want to get gen rushed playing the fun killers who are outside the meta. I also don't like long queues which seem to be getting longer.
It just seems ridiculous that I can run a killer for so long simply because I can see around and over high walls and see what they're looking at due to the red stain showing through cracks and walls. It feels like the base fundamental structure of killer and survivor was stealth centric but over time the game evolved more heavily into cat and mouse without adapting the base information-gathering tools. I have no issue with perks so much as I do with the sensory deprivation of playing killer. Seems odd that I can block a doorway crouched and for them to think invisible wall before looking at their feet to see me there.
Game for me just needs a quality of life overhaul for me to want to play killer more frequently.

The red stain can be a boon for killers since you can use it for mindgames. It’s a pretty integral mechanic at this point
Well no, as it's seen through some walls and all cracks. It actually works greatly in favour of the survivors.
@sulaiman said:
While i agree with the red stain, i dont agree with an increase of pov. Stealth is a factor in this game, and it should be. If you want the game to resolve around chases only, go play a racing simulator.
Also, i still think you just cant balance the game around swf (with comms) and solo survivors at the same time.
Stealth is definitely not a big factor in this game. I would love for it to be but its simply not.

Killers are not underpowered. Yes, a lot of maps are broken if the survivors are good. But most survivors are bad across all ranks. As far as streamers losing a lot of games once SBMM was turned on, I'll just say that most of them aren't competitive level players and were suddenly thrown into pseudo-competitive matches while trying to run their usual bad builds and 12 hook playstyle. That's a perk balance/playstyle issue.
Most killers (the finest like trapper, Ghostface, Myers etc) are severely underpowered at higher levels. At this point its play meta or don't bother.
@Zozzy said:

Not really.
All you are doing is forcing the killer to work around crap mechanics that (with the sound NERFS) can screw them over so much. I have lost count how many times i have run behind a killer face planting a wall to hide the stain and they have no idea.
Meanwhile a survivor just needs to watch the corner and time it.
The amount of times in red ranks doing a double back walk around behind them actually working is incredible.
Also, I understand it's a "casual game" but at what point is it no longer casual and fun for killer. I finish every month at rank 1 for both and even after I win a game as killer I really CBF playing another round as killer again. I think it reached a point where this game has nothing left to offer to survivor mains is what I am getting at.

Most streamers make it look easy because they have thousands of hours and are playing against people with hundreds most the time
Yeah also on YT it's usually a compilation of selected matches they got actual value out of some low tier perk or combo
