  • I second this request. On Survivor it's not so bad for me, because you can use any of your characters to make up multiple builds that way, so long as you have all the perks unlocked on them (not the case for new players, unfortunately).

But for Killer, three pages doesn't feel like quite enough pages. It's not like a huge deal or anything, just would be a nice extra feature to have.

  • Obviously, an escape through the gate or the hatch feels like a Survivor "win" for me, but It's a bit more nuanced than that. And let's be honest, as a not so good Solo Q player I'm not getting out all that often. So I have to get my wins in other ways.

If I get value from my stupid locker Dweet builds, that's a win.

If the Killer kicks my blast mined gen or chemical trapped pallet, that's a win.

If I get value from Diversion, that's a win.

If I can Plot Twist right under the Killer's nose, that's a win.

    If I can progress a tome or a daily, that's a win.

If we get one or more Survivors out the gate or even power the gates, that's a win of a sort (and I can at least feel like I contributed to that). Of course, they're not really wins in a traditional sense, but it's fun things like this that keeps me playing.

For Killer, it's more straight forward. 3K is a win, 2K is a draw and 0-1K is a loss.

But I'm not tryharding on either side of the game anymore. It doesn't make me happy to play that way.

  • Low MMR has a similar experience, except it's half a dozen daily Ghost Faces, Shapes, Trappers and Doctors. I've not seen Doctor for a few days, though. I wonder where he went...

Most of the time, I get a steady diet of stealth killers and whatever Killer happens to have a tome challenge at the time (hello 3rd Dredge of the day). I'm not saying I'd like to face too many more Blights and Weskers, but not having to play the same 4 or 5 Killers in a row would be nice.

Does everyone else see the same Killers over and over again? I'm guessing most of the Killer variety is at mid MMR, which is where I presume the majority of the player base is.

  • I very rarely get hate in the chat for running certain perks. I guess I must play a lot of console gamers (and European/UK PC gamers aren't all that chatty, anyway). But I definitely get give up and go next vibes from some teams as soon as they realise I'm running Lightborn / Iron Grasp and none of their flashbang/flashlight/boil over/sabo/body blocking plays will work against me.

I don't really get why. I've literally devoted half my build to chasing and getting hooks on everybody. If I've just spent precious time trying to down somebody, why would it be so odd that I'd want to make sure it was all worth the effort? Do Survivors not want me to play for hooks?

If you've loaded into a game with the sole intention to deny Killers hooks, then you're my least favourite kind of Survivor and I'm only happy to be an annoyance to you.

On Survivor side, any kind of locker perk, Self-Care and Plot Twist seem to bring out the griefers if they can catch you using them.

  • I think the mobile game is mostly made by NetEase, which is a completely different company (one that specialises in mobile games). Probably under some kind of license, I'm guessing. I could be wrong, but I don't think BHVR have a lot to do with the mobile version.

And it likely doesn't share any of the core game's code anyway, so porting stuff between the two versions is probably a struggle. I'm not knowledgable about game development though, so I'm not certain about that.

  • Thanks very much, appreciate it!

They're pretty old now, so they should be shard price I think. Guess I'll keep saving my shards.

  • I honestly don't understand why some Killers feel like they have to get the 4K no matter what. Just hook the second to last Survivor and go hunting for the last. Most of the time, you'll still get a 4K if you want one. I just want these games to be over when I'm playing Survivor. Sometimes, the Killer will slug so they can give their preferred Survivor the hatch, but that doesn't happen too often. I'd rather just go next.

Personally, I tend to avoid the 4K and let the last Survivor go, because I know my "reward" for the 4K is to go up against teams that can loop me for days. They'll be bringing all the busted items / perks too, so I'll get 3 hooks max with no kills. That's not fun for me. But if that's what you want to play against, then be my guest and keep slugging for the 4K.

  • Part of the fun in playing a new game is in the learning process. I personally don't think Survivors should get detailed tutorials on how to counter each Killer. But I do think BHVR need to be better at informing newer player on the very basics.

In my first few games against a Legion, I went down to deep wound several times because I had no idea what was going on. I didn't understand the deep wound mechanic or even realise mending was possible, because the prompt doesn't appear until you stop running. I just assumed the best play was to work on a gen until I collapsed or try and run somewhere safe and hope someone would come pick me up. Same goes for making the mistake of hiding in a locker during a Frenzy. These things aren't well explained. Every now and again, I'll still get Survivors that don't know how to mend in my Killer games after 800 hours of play time. There are examples for other Killers too, like how using Wesker's spray cans will alert him to your location.

BHVR should get some totally new players in a room together and make them play against every Killer a few times, so they can understand what the new player experience is really like. They could use what they learn to make simple guides or improve their on screen pre-match tips.

  • Being a new player to DBD is a very rough experience, no matter what side you choose to play. I'm also relatively new to the game, so I hope I can share a few helpful tips (I started earlier this year with the Skull Merchant chapter).

As a new Survivor player, I would recommend not playing the way that streamers and youtubers tend to play. They tend to be more bold, confident that their skills will save them from pulling off risky plays. It's usually a better strategy to be stealthy but active when you first start out. Unfortunately, this play style doesn't make for great "content", so (with some exceptions) you won't find many good examples of stealthy play from the biggest streamers. But it should keep you in the game for longer and the longer you can stay alive for, the more chances you'll have to learn. Don't worry about escaping much just yet. Even very experienced Survivors like JRM and Ayrun can go multiple games without a single escape through the gates.

Make every game an opportunity to learn something new. Pay attention to what your teammates and Killer's perks do, the layout of each map, common gen, pallet and totem spawns etc. There's an insane amount of stuff to learn (even very basic stuff) that the tutorial doesn't mention at all. I'd also suggest making progressing a tome challenge or daily ritual your main goal for each trial. That way, you'll feel some sense of progression even if you don't ever escape.

I also recommend looking up some beginner guides and prestiging Meg for her Sprint Burst as a priority. If you do a gen with someone else and you can Sprint Burst away, the Killer will probably chase after your teammate instead. Then you can return to the gen later when it's safe to keep working on it. But let's say they do chase you, with Lightweight and Meg's other perk Quick and Quiet equipped, you can often lose a killer that's on your tail by breaking line of sight and vaulting a window or jumping into a locker. Sprint Burst will also give you some defense against tunnelling Killers that like to return to the hook. Of course there are many other stealthy combinations that you can use, this is just one example. Don't be afraid to experiment.

I'd also recommend playing some Killer games. I personally had more fun playing killer when I first started because I felt like I improved a lot quicker at this side of the game. It will at the very least give you opportunity to explore the maps and tiles at your own leisure, experience the Killer's field of vision, as well as learn how the other Survivors play and think, the places they like to hide, where they run to etc. All information that you can use to improve your Survivor games.

I hope you don't feel too discouraged. DBD is a difficult game even for players with many hours. I have over 800 and I still have a lot left to learn.

  • I don't think so. But then again, I happen to think it's OK for the game to have a handful of very strong Killers that can really clean up. And he's definitely that. I think even a mediocre Blight could wipe the floor with most of the lobbies that I've ever been in. Plus, having him in the game as he is keeps the more competitive parts of the DBD community happy.

That said, I probably see one Blight a month. So no doubt I'd feel different about him if I saw him more often.

I do think certain maps and perks are a struggle to balance for all the other Killers with him in the game, however. Nurse and Blight sometimes feel like they've been teleported into the Entity's realm from some other game completely. If BHVR are aiming for a truly "balanced" game, they are kinda game breaking Killers in that respect.

Again, no. 3 hits in rapid succession then run across the whole map (Sheltered woods) staying in power well past when I would have had the power drained after the last hit. if they were mending in terror radius (Something we never do unless there is a specific reason to or one of us calls out the legion being out of power) I am wondering how a legion can stay in power after last hit way longer than I can no add-ons. I know hitting someone who isn't in deep wounds resets the timer. I have been playing since Freddy came out. everyone always assumes I must be mistaking this for that I pay attention. this is what I hate about asking questions here everyone assumes you don't know basic game stuff and clearly you describe something NOT what people assume you are talking about then get defensive when you say it isn't that this has been this way for years. I am sick of asking questions about things that aren't performing the same and people assume I must be new and mistaking similar obvious things for what I am actually seeing. it's like with legion. if I vault a pallet as legion I can't turn around right away, it makes me stand there for 1/3 of a second and survivors can simply re-vault the pallet before I can move but people assume I am running out and losing track of the survivor when I talk about it here. When I say no I am not they assume I don't know ######### I am talking about and that I must be experiencing their idea rather than what is actually going on. I don't get taken seriously and people don't read my posts thoroughly as their theory is dismissed in the original post. people only take what they assume from the post and ignore what disagrees with their idea already formed. Instead they should be reading the whole question and if they don't have an actual answer move on. When I talk about pallets not dropping when I try to pre-drop running through a pallet they say I must be getting hit then hitting space bar, there are lots of times on my streams where you will see me run in circles 4-5 times then go down because I hit space bar several times trying to pre-drop the pallet but when I ask here people assume I am talking about trying to time a pallet stun on a mind game and when I say I am not they say I am wrong.

I'm just trying to help. Nobody here means you any disrespect.

I'm guessing you already know about the rare bug that permanently locks Legion into their Frenzy pose, even when they're no longer still in Frenzy? Could it be that? (usually happens after getting stunned in Frenzy)

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/392960/legion-frenzy-animation-bug

Or maybe you've identified some other bug that I'm not aware of (or encountered a cheater). It might be worth sharing some game play footage with the devs to see if they can figure out what's going on.

  • There's no trick to it. Your team probably isn't as spread out as you think. Most likely your teammates are mending close by while still within their terror radius, giving them an easy extra Frenzy hit to chain and reach the next Survivor. If the Survivors don't spread out, Legion can bounce between Survivors while they're in Frenzy pretty quickly. If you can hear their terror radius (40 meters in Frenzy), there's a good chance they can reach you. Pressuring multiple Survivors is one of the few things their power is really good at. So get out of their radius if you can before you mend.

They won't likely be able to cross the entire map without add-ons, but they can still get pretty far if their Frenzy hits line up fortunately enough for them.

  • I'd need to know more about how it would work. There are lots of unanswered questions. I'd want to share progression between my Switch and PC platforms, but since I bought most of my Killers via Steam, I guess that would mean I wouldn't be able to use them on Switch? And what about the extra free Killers that come with the Switch edition of the game? Will I get Spirit, Hag, Adam, Ace and Clown added to my Steam account, or will they be stranded on Switch? What if I have higher prestige and more perks unlocked for my PC characters? Do they take priority when merging the accounts?

Ultimately, if there's not much that I can share between the two platforms because I didn't buy much from the in game store, then it will be a bitter sweet feature for me. It would be good to only have to grind through one rift / event tome instead of two, though. So if I could at least share that it would be something...

  • It's felt kinda strange to me since Chucky. I've had a 100% Survivor bonus almost all of the time since he was released. This is unusual because around 6 PM it would normally switch over to Killer for me, but that isn't happening until much later at night now. I've also encountered the same Killers and Survivors more often, sometimes even twice in a row. That almost never happened to me before either. My teammates have been pretty variable, too. Sometimes pretty decent, sometimes totally clueless. Same goes for the Killers.

More likely, I think maybe there's an imbalance in Survivor / Killer numbers that's broken the MMR system in some way. This is all just a gut feeling, though. I really have no idea.

  • I don't know where this restrictive definition of party game came from. Back in the day, games like Micro Machines 2 for the Sega Mega Drive would have fitted the definition of a party game, because 8 players could play together on one console (which was a rare experience at the time). So would GoldenEye 007 for the N64. Neither are Mario Party style games.

I dunno, maybe I'm just clueless and old but I'd say any multiplayer game with random elements and a greater emphasis on fun and chaos could be considered a party game. I think Smash Bros and Mario Kart fit the bill in that respect. Maybe casual game is a better definition, but I tend to think of casual games as having broader appeal and being a bit more relaxed / chill and DBD is definitely not that!

Of course, you can bring a hyper competitive mindset to the game if you want to, just like you can to any multiplayer game. But as I said, I don't think the game was really designed to be played with an e-sports mentality and your opponents probably won't enjoy their experience if that's how you want to play.

Most of the changes that Behaviour make to the game seem to be aimed at making the game more fun for players, as opposed to more competitive (hence why camping and tunnelling is somewhat discouraged and the strongest meta perks are often nerfed).

  • I went against two infinite tombstone Myers in a row the other day (different players as well). I guess this kind of thing just happens sometimes.

Whatever happened to regular and vanity/scratched mirror Myers, anyway? It feels like all I see these days are the infinite tombstone ones :(

  • Is it the same Deathslinger? I've found myself being matched with the same players (Survivors and Killers) a lot more often recently. Maybe as a result of a tighter MMR system, I don't know... But yeah, slugging and only slugging is definitely a strat that you will encounter some Killers using (most often with ranged Killers like Huntress or high mobility one hit Killers like Oni). Thankfully I don't find it to be all that common since most Killers play for hooks, but players like this are certainly out there.

Entity help us Solo Q players if knockout becomes a meta perk.

  • I consider it a party game in the sense that competitive DBD is the worst possible version of DBD that you can play. This game simply isn't all that fun when both sides are playing sweaty and bringing only the strongest possible items, perks and play styles to the trial. I think the balance and fun of the game quickly dissolves when players aim to play "optimally".

I will admit to being a somewhat competitive person and I do usually play to win. But I try not to sweat too hard for it, because I don't think that's a fun experience for anyone.

It's kind of weird that (for the Survivor side at least) I would queue to play a game I'm almost certain to lose every time. So I've tried to find other ways to have fun playing this game, usually by running silly themed builds when I begin to feel a bit disheartened. Because in Solo Q I'm only escaping around 20% of the time at the moment, if that. I'm honestly not that bothered about losing MMR anymore, because the MMR system seems to do almost nothing for Solo Q Survivors anyway.

You're not wrong. I always have Kindred on and yes, there are many times no one seems to pay any attention to it. That being said, it wouldn't hurt to add more info for those that do use it.

I wish more Survivors would run aura perks besides Windows of Opportunity, to be honest. It's a great chase perk, but it does nothing to advance the objectives or enhance team play. I feel like almost all Solo Q players would benefit from running at least one aura perk that isn't WoO and I often wonder why so many of them don't.

Players might say they want more info to bridge the SWF/Solo gap, but then they don't equip any of the Survivor info perks.

    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

  • I think BHVR were trying to say that there are certain things that Solo players tend to do more often that they simply cannot offer a design solution for.

Last night, I played against a team that let a Steve, their very best looper, die on his first hook. I wasn't proxy camping at all and they had plenty of time to go rescue him. You'd think after he hit second someone would come get him but they just... didn't. So it was an easy win for me.

Honestly, what are the devs meant to do about Solo Q situations like that? What are the devs meant to do when Survivors refuse to touch a gen 5 minutes into a trial? It should hardly be surprising to anyone that SWFs are generally more dedicated to a win for the team when you get a random mix of Solo Q players loading into a trial to do... who knows what at this point?

I feel like a lot of players are naive to think adding base kit kindred or something else is likely to fix Solo Q. The problem is the players themselves a lot of the time. Many of them are not using the tools the game has already given them to make smarter plays.

  • Some things I wish I knew as a complete beginner:

If you want to get the Iri 1 achievement as Survivor, do it as soon as you can. Once you reach a certain MMR in Solo Q, it becomes near impossible (at least in my experience). Killer Iri 1 will still be possible though, since all your Killers have different MMRs so you'll still be able to cheese the emblem system to get those last few pips.

New Killers, you might benefit from unlocking Lightborn as soon as you can. You will save yourself a lot of early frustration. Because the matchmaking system will put you up against Survivors that are way above your skill level. It's probably not a great idea to crutch on this perk long term and you should learn how to play around flashlights eventually, but you have enough to learn already. Learn to deal with beamers when you've gained a bit more experience in the role and your chosen Killer's fundamentals.

Seek out info. I didn't bother to seek out any beginner guides when I first started playing. I completed the tutorial and thought to myself "cool, guess I know all I need to know now". I could not have been more wrong. I didn't learn until much later that the tutorial doesn't even teach the basics. I didn't even learn about the endurance effect until about 50 hours in, for example. You can learn as you go as I did, but it's probably better to speed up the learning process by doing a little bit of extra research.

Never under or overestimate your opponent. Just because a Survivor had a bad first chase, it doesn't mean they couldn't run you for a couple of gens the next time you chase them. I've had Killers drop chase on me moments before I would have gone down. And I've had bad starts to Killer games that I've eventually won because the Survivors got cocky and over confident. It's never over until the Entity says so.

Edit: I forgot to say, don't be a meta slave. You'll miss out on a lot of the fun this game can bring if you ignore certain perks and play styles just because the rest of the community don't see the appeal. Experiment with different builds to find what works best for you. There's more than one way to play this game.

  • @MarbleThrone said:

    Imagine caring about pips.

(ok, if you need the Iri I achievements, it's understandable)

You know what I love most about the new UI?

Now that they're hidden away, I barely have to look at my grade or pips anymore. Pretty good job so far, BHVR.

  • I've enjoyed it the most out of all the events I've played so far. It's been a blast throwing snow balls at Killers and Survivors and jumping into snowmen.

I think I like it most because the event mechanics don't really make a big difference to the game. Join in or don't, it doesn't really matter. I know plenty of players probably preferred the Anniversary event because it gave us all ridiculously busted things to play with, but I found certain aspects of all that to be kinda frustrating.

  • I'd like to see the School Punk Susie Legion skin (the darker variant) and Meg's Alumni Party skin (Silver variant. The gold one is nice too, but I prefer the silver one).

But I think most of the mobile skins are a little bit over the top for the main game, to be honest.

  • Compared to the spooky atmosphere of a lot of older game play footage, I'd say it's lost some of its horror vibes.

But I can assure you, it's still very, very scary for beginner players and those of us with more of a nervous disposition. It does eventually feel kinda like Looney Tunes though, with the looping mechanics becoming the main game play focus for more experienced players.

  • My advice would be to play at peak hours so you can increase your chances of joining a SWF as an unofficial 3rd/4th member. This isn't a fool proof method, however. I've seen duos double DC when they get a Killer they don't like. And they might not care much for your fate if you get hooked in endgame and they're all at the exit gates. But generally speaking, you have a higher chance to match with better teammates if you play at peak times. The flip of that being the Killer will probably be higher skilled as well.

If your teammates are truly, truly awful though, You could also equip some of the more selfish perks. Distortion, Sole Survivor, Left Behind, Deliverance, healing perks that don't require other players like Inner Healing or Self-Care etc. Might increase your odds of Surviving a little better.

Personally, I'm trying to stop playing so much for escapes now. I find I have a better time if I focus on getting tome challenges done or a good chase or two.

And how do you know who exactly brought the offering? They might just play like normal until the hatch opens.

Not telling the killer would mean, that you basically guarantee an escape, if the killer doesn't slug for the 4k.

You can only tell for sure if all 5 players bring an offering. Otherwise, the one that brought the hatch offering is the one that you won't find on a gen when there are only two players left. But I guess both players could have the same idea and hide by the gates or hatch spawn location, and then you won't know who brought it. In that case, I'll might just kill both if I'm feeling mean, just to be certain.

If I see a hatch offering in play in my Survivor games, I don't go anywhere near the spawn location if I can avoid it. Because I assume that's where the Killer will probably go to look first and then it's a 50/50 if they come to my gate or not.

    @[Deleted User] said:

To be fair I assume quite a lot of the times its probably someone trying to do one of those stupid escape through the hatch challenges in the tomes.

Who wants to play multiple games hoping to be the last alive or worse still waiting for your teammates to actually leave 🙄 & then have to randomly run around trying to find the hatch.

Personally i'd use bill's perk over an offering but again if you get those teammates who will hang in the exit for no reason odds are time will be very short & knowing exactly where it is could get your challenge done.

Also from my experience a lot of players on both sides seem to pay very little attention to the offering screen (me included half the time) so maybe they also assume nobody else is actually going to know 🤷🏻‍♂️

You might be right. But why not bring the Bill or Mikaela perk instead? That's what I do too when I have a hatch challenge, because at least then you know you're not giving the Killer a potential advantage to get to it first.

  • I often wondered this. Why tell the killer exactly where to find hatch and your teammates that you're going to ditch them the instant things get rough? I make a point of killing anyone who brings a hatch offering if I can, because they're usually the kind of Survivor that hides and does nothing else for the rest of the trail whenever things start to go south.

I usually spend a bit of time searching main / shack or near the gates if I see the other player is still trying to complete gens.

  • It would be nice to get shards, a charm or you know, at least something for hitting those prestige milestones (P10, P20, P30 etc).

I don't feel any desire to prestige past the bloody cosmetics and perk charms. On the other hand, I don't need to be given any more reasons to dump even more of my time into playing this game so... I dunno. Maybe for the best?

  • I have a P12 Legion, P10 Meg, P9 Dwight and a P7 Ripley.

I don't see the point of prestiging past 9 in most cases, since there's nothing further to unlock. I almost never bring items into my Survivor games and I'm not likely to run out of my favourite Legion add-ons anytime soon. So I guess I'm not much of a BP spender these days and only really spend it if I've unlocked a new perk in the Shrine or have a new character to level.

Some Survivors and Killers will only ever be prestiged to P3 for their perks, since I don't use them.

If you want to run silly builds then let people dodge. You will eventually get players running silly builds and you can all have fun together.

Sorry for wanting to have fun playing a fun video game, I guess? I don't know how it is for your games, but consistent escapes and decent teammates are in short supply in mine. Sometimes you've got to find your own amusement in this game as Survivor, because most of the time you're not going to be winning.

Personally, I'd take any player with a silly build, so long as they still touch gens and try to make altruistic plays. I've seen plenty of "serious" meta gamers hide as soon as the match starts to go bad to preserve their MMR and maybe get a hatch escape. Even in games that I felt were still winnable. The build a player is running doesn't necessarily determine how much of a team player they'll be in the trial.

  • I don't want to get my favourite boys and girls nerfed, but The Legion can hold a pretty good 3 gen. Especially with the Filthy Blade and Fuming / Frank's Mixtape add-ons. But you didn't hear that from me...

Side note: Please, please, please only force a 3 gen as a last resort, or because the Survivors are gen rushing and not paying close enough attention to the gens they're completing. Don't be the kind of Killer that glues themselves to a 3 gen and refuses to chase from the very start of the game.

Not gonna lie, I probably get most of my wins from taking advantage of a 3 gen and I'm already apprehensive about BHVR's solution to them. Don't be the reason why they get removed from the game entirely.

Perks being shown in the lobby:

I don’t want perks shown in the lobby because it would just be one more thing that I have to walk on eggshells about. The private loadout Otz suggested wasn’t a bad idea, but it could lead to conflicts and sandbagging against survivors who run private loadouts. Everyone being private by default leaves a level playing field with no room for discrimination in that regard.

If you want to bring Sole Survivor which lets you open the gate 50% faster as the last survivor, you’ll get sandbagged because it’s seen as a selfish and taboo perk. Ultimately this is just a video game, and we should be able to use any tools that are available to us without facing discrimination from others.

It’s bad enough that every action you perform as survivor is under the microscope with the HUD update, fostering sandbagging if another player feels like you aren’t performing up to par or maybe because you just cleansed a totem.

The gap between solo and SWF:

I understand the developer response got a lot of hate on the topic of bridging the gap between solo and SWF, but I agree with the response about the crux of the problem. In an SWF, if one of your teammates is getting camped at the end, you’ll nearly always go in for the save and play selflessly. On the other hand, if it’s all solos you might consider just playing it safe and leaving. This scenario is one of many examples relating to the core problem of Solo vs SWF.

Solos just don’t care about each other a lot of the time and with that said the amount of teaming I have been seeing lately has been rampant, where a survivor decides it will be more fun to team with the killer over actually doing the objectives. This is the kind of issue I want the devs to focus on, because for an apparent ‘bannable offense’, I see it way too often.

I also don't want to be able to see Survivor perks in the lobby. As someone that frequently uses low prestige Survivors and the anonymous mode, I don't need other Survivors to have yet another reason to dodge my lobbies and mess up the matchmaking.

And I don't think players should feel pressured into running meta builds just to avoid being dodged. What if I want to run a silly locker build sometimes? I think this could result in less perk variety overall, because players would feel judged on their load outs and may feel like they have less freedom of choice.

  • I wasn't playing before its nerf, but I'd like to see Self-Care be a worthwhile perk in its own right and to not require Botany to be any good. Obviously it's good for the team that I have to bring botany along, but it's still half my perk slots being used up just to make another perk be viable and even then, it still sucks against Sloppy Butcher.

I also miss the visual indicator that used to be on Spine Chill (the one they removed after adding the visual terror radius). It was useful for gauging the direction and distance of the Killer and it had some mind gaming utility at certain loops. Wouldn't touch the perk now though.

  • Maybe Predator? I've been struggling to follow scratch marks since a few updates back, though I'm not entirely sure why.

It's a pretty weak perk, so adding it as base-kit probably wouldn't make a game breaking difference and I don't think I've ever seen anyone use it anyway.

Aside from Nowhere to Hide, I'm not so into using Killer aura perks to be honest and in some respects I don't think they're totally healthy for the game. I tend to just patrol gens to find Survivors or use my Killer Instinct. Or I use perks that can't be countered by Distortion (like Surveillance, Tinkerer or Discordance).

Something to combat excessive hiding and game stalling if no-one has progressed a gen for a few minutes might be welcome, though. Something similar to the object of obsession aura reveal mechanic, maybe.

I want to preface this by saying Kindred is mandatory for me so all builds listed include it.

    Generator Repair Build:

    - Deja Vu

    - Resilience

    - Prove Thyself

    Altruism Build:

    - We'll Make It

    - Botany

    - Desperate Measures

    Self-Care Build

    - Self-Care

    - Botany

    - Desperate Measures

For the Altruism build, I'd maybe swap out Desperate Measures for Borrowed Time. That way, if you get interrupted healing by the killer or if the Killer is proxy camping, they'll have a bit more extra time to make it to safety. Or maybe We're Gonna Live forever for picking up slugs.

For the Self-Care build, I'd consider swapping out Desperate Measures for Resilience. That way, you have something in your build to counter Sloppy Butcher or a Plague or Legion. I like to 99% my heal whenever I've got resil equipped, but this isn't so useful now with the recent Self-Care bug sometimes preventing you from seeing your healing progress. Self-Care shadow nerfed, confirmed!

To be honest though, if I'm playing "seriously" I personally prefer to run balanced builds (one perk equipped for each emblem category), rather than builds themed around specific purposes, but you should run what you like.

  • I wish I had the escape rate that some of you guys seem to boast. I've not escaped for a good 15-20 games (unless you count a Huntress on Lery's with only one yellow perk equipped but I don't). Even had a few games where I maxed out my boldness points by running the Killer for what must have been worth at least a gen or two. Did anyone touch a gen in the time that I bought the team? No, no they did not.

I 've gone from escaping a decent amount to almost never making it out of my Survivor games. Meanwhile, my Killer games have been much easier. Some long waits to get into a game even when the 100% BP incentive is up. It's weird. It's like my games have made a complete 180% turn to how they were when the MMR was first tweaked. I don't know what's going on.

During events, such as Anniversary and Bone Chill, gerenator and hook auras receive a different colour, mostly because they are now special event props that award additional bloodpoints.

However, there currently is a bug that only makes indoor gens orange whereas it should be all of them.

Oh right! That explains why the shack gen on Erie was yellow while all the other gens I could see were red (main might have been yellow too but the survivors completed that one pretty quickly).

It really confused me to see a single yellow gen at the start of the game for no obvious reason.

She's a mix of both rare and uncommon. I do see her a lot more than Lauries and Elodies

Really!? I see Rebeccas all the time. She might be less common than the other Resident Evil characters though, so maybe that's why she seems kinda rare.

I wouldn't blame him at all, either. Look at No0b3, arguably the biggest name in DBD, he quit years ago with only randomly showing up to post a vid or two every year or so. AngryPug is trying to not say adios, so he plays other games to subdue that tension and stress. Umbra, a well-known DBD streamer who mains Huntress is pushing herself to play only due to the fact that it's what primarily brings her income. Lots of other well-known streamers are becoming less and less active in DBD as well. Otz, Ayrun, skermz, and JRM are like the few very well-known players that are actively playing daily and creating content often together. People need breaks from this game, it's healthy, especially when balance isn't there.

That's not a DBD problem in my opinion. That's a "I can't get off the content creation wheel because my engagement goes down, my money dries up and my bills won't get paid" problem.

That's the somewhat precarious life of a Youtuber / Twitch streamer. I hope branching out into different content is a success for him, because as much as I love DBD I'd still hate to be stuck playing this game every week of the year to earn a living. Obviously, it's their choice to stream and there are plenty of much worse ways to make money, but it does seem to have its fair share of downsides. As you say, it's healthy to take breaks from the game now and then, but if it's the reason why people watch you stream, what can you do?

  • If I'm in a good mood and just vibin', sometimes I like to put on distressing and my two favourite mix tapes (Julie's & Susie's) so that Survivors can hear Legion's awesome terror radius theme all over the map. I call it the Legion mobile disco build.

  • I've watched a few of his streams recently and he does seem pretty burned out by the game. I'm not saying the things he says don't have merit. He almost certainly knows this game better than I do. But when you're burned out, it's very easy to focus on the negatives and only the negatives, ignoring the positive changes that have come about for the game. I get that as players we might have different priorities to the Devs, but at the end of the day, this is still their game and their creation. And no creative person on earth wants to do what their audience wants them to do 100% of the time.

They'll have different ideas for the direction they want to take the game and I think as a community we don't always respect that. There's tons of stuff I'd like them to address or fix, but if the devs don't see those things as urgent or worth committing the resources to, then that's just the way it is. In an ideal world, they could spend a year addressing quality of life stuff and forget about adding new content or events, but they'd probably be hemorrhaging players before long because gamers will always need new content to wrestle back their attention from other games. BHVR can't win, it seems.

  • Have honestly given up even trying for Iri. I'd need to play too sweaty for Killer and Solo Q is gonna be Solo Q. Guaranteed to de-pip a lot once you reach the gold grades.

Forget it my friend. That way lies madness.

But if you must, when I still gave a damn I felt like DeJa Vu, Second Wind, We'll Make It/Botany and Sprint Burst might be a pretty decent build for it. Or Deja Vu, Self-Care, Botany and Sprint Burst (my current Survivor build). Basically, a balanced build with perk choices that should help pipping in each category.

I've never reached Iri 1 Survivor though, so take my advice with a pinch of salt.

Killers Like Legion that can farm BP and prolong games are a fairly good choice for hitting Iri on the other side.

A lot of old Onyro players don't like the new Onyro. Being stronger isn't the only thing that matters to the players of killers.

Trickster is also the most recent one and I don't think anyone had anything good to say about it.

I hope they take a best of both approach (and it sounds like they are). I actually like playing her more now. She feels like much more of a threat, maybe a bit too much, if I'm honest. It's a little too easy for her to build condemned.

But Survivors just ignored her tapes before the rework and I really don't want to go back to that.

  • I think it's going to be a fun niche perk that won't see a lot of use outside of meme builds. Honestly don't see why anyone could be all that worried about this perk.

I plan to use it to make my Legion comically fast in the endgame with NOED, Batteries Included, Rapid Brutality, Superior Anatomy and the BFFs add-on. Will it help me win any trials? No, but it'll still be pretty fun.

  • Maybe they'll remove the weird pause that prevents you from swapping from Victor back to Charlotte. Maybe also give Charlotte a short haste boost after swapping so she can go pick up the slug a little quicker?

But since they've put the Twins on the roadmap, perhaps there could be a much more extensive rework on the cards. I guess we'll find out.

  • I see them a fair amount. Blood Favour, Devour Hope, NOED, Plaything, Hex Undying and Ruin seem to be pretty common.

Some of them can be pretty miserable to face in Solo Q games, because unless they're in a very obvious spot, you can bet they'll be staying up all game because nobody knows totem spawn locations.

  • This is great news! I've got most of the Survivors and Killers that I want already, but this should make unlocking characters and perks for newer players a much less painful experience.

I think the cheaper auric prices will also tempt players into trying out the Killers and Survivors they might not have considered before.

I mean, there's no way I'd spend full price on Ace with the terrible perks that he's got (plus all the extra grief that Mad Hatter Ace has given me in my Killer games), but I did get a snazzy looking knitted waistcoat in the rift for him, so I'm feeling mighty tempted to unlock him at the reduced prices.

  • With MfT nerfed, Killer bloodlust, so many haste perks and buffed Coup De Grace, can you blame Survivors for wanting to play it safe at loops?

Anytime I try to "loop" I end up dead near instantly (skill issue on my part obviously at play here).

If I do drop a pallet at a strong loop then I'll try to loop around it, but most Killers will just break it instantly (which is fine, because I do the same when playing Killer too).

I think nearly every Killer that I've faced in the last few days has had some kind of anti-loop power (Wesker, Huntress, Plague, Knight, Dredge, Spirit, Blight etc).

  • I've found scratch marks to be harder to track recently. I wasn't sure if it was just my imagination playing tricks on me or if others were having difficulties too.

I guess I'm not the only one.
