So, apparently there's some talk about arachnophobia and accessibility going on. Seems like a lot of people wouldn't want a spider killer in the game. And although I'm one of those that actually DO want a spider-like killer, I started to wonder if there is a way we can make both spider lovers and arachnophobes happy. So I have to ask: would a killer that looks partially like a spider but doesn't have the shape of one still be very arachnophobia-triggering? I'm asking that to anyone here that has arachnophobia, knows someone who has it, or knows something about the subject. Of course, anyone else can give their opinion on the matter here.
To be more specific, would a spider-monster killer that looked similar to any of the ones below be as likely to trigger arachnophobia as an actual spider? Or would these be easier to deal with?

The Abandon feature was implemented because of players who would slug the survivors and then just let them bleed out (often while humping their bodies). There was nothing survivors could do to speed this up besides DCing and copping a penalty. In the situation you are mentioning, the killer has an option to speed this up - walk up to them.
so why didn't survivors just use unbreakable? that's something they could do and the survivor meta would change slightly

It really seems to have become a big issue with killers camping hooked survivors. They seem to know just how far to stay back as not to trigger the time release. Especially the killers with super acceleration they get just far enough to hit a survivor if they get anywhere near unhooking. It's really a bummer. Makes the game no fun at all to play. I see alot.of players just get hooked and give up. I hope they fix this soon.
i recommend you start playing killer and figure out why it's happening

Them waiting for a hit out is the same line as slugging out survivors. Letting toxic play continue when it can be patched out easily and when they have proven they will do that for survivors would be very one sided of the DEVs. And in recent years they have show much better efforts to actually balance the game and stop toxic play. This is just the logical next step
nah they only patch toxic play when it's a killer doing it to a survivor t-bagging at gates has been a problem for years

- I've played a lot (both killer and survivor roles) since Orela dlc, but i've literally NEVER seen anyone use "duty of care" (except Orela adept). it's possible that as it often happens in this forum, players can't get a clear idea of a perk and its real use in "everyday games" and it gets overrated? the same happened with "blood rush" and (it makes me laugh) "still sight", two really mediocre perks but declared as "op". Duty of care is a decent perk but really niche, suitable ONLY in specific builds or for making funny videos on Tiktok/Youtube, in my opinion it was clear since its release in PTB. Babysitter (for example) is an extremely strong and quite often used perk, but I've literally never seen any killer complain about it.
i used to run it but i just run do no harm since it makes healing slowdown a joke and that's w/o botany or resurgence

this sounds like nurse but having a worse power but also would get nerfed into the ground because of complaints about being unfun to go against but i can see the perks being meta

today Bhvr made a tweet about keeping the game acccessible by not planning any spider killers for people with arachnophobia, and of course they have been receiving praise online for it, the thing that bothers me is why is arachnophobia given thought and not other phobias or other disabilities. There’s no black option for blinding for epileptics, the rarity color rework made the game 100x less accessible for color blind people and the color blind options we do have are honestly quiere abysmal. HOH people are just screwed when it comes to spirit. If you want to be known as an accessible game then put the work in. I hope you never have to experience the feeling of a game you care deeply for becoming less accessible for you and to have your concerns fall on deaf ears. You say you want new players, I never thought it would exclude those of us with disabilities.
this is a sound based game and sound is super important if someone is hard of hearing they might need to play a different game since the heartbeat meter is already really good if they add something that counters spirit phase might be game breaking

pretty sure they do move why else would they need bones for animations. Though regardless, this isnt the limitation you think it is
just watched a video on xeno queens animations and the tiny arms outside of swinging picking up vaulting don't really move at all the tail sways in the walking animation but in general they don't move
this wouldn't work with a spider killer since all 8 legs would have to be moving as the walking animation alone unless they do a non standard arachnid killer
for example entoma but using her as a base they use a humanoid form but add spider aspects but at that point they might start looking like kaneki
but usually when people think Jorōgumo

do all 6 limbs move? i don't go against many xeno's much less the queen also there was a statement about not adding more zombies for 2v8

Simple, Spiders have always been nightmare fuel for people. Real question is how to get a spider killer to work in DBD.
you can't. i'm pretty sure looking at it would kill your frame rate with all the legs moving which is why i think bhvr didn't have one yet

My issue with it is that if players are searching for totems and don't have the possible locations memorized on every variation of every map nor did they bring perks or items to help they are going to end up getting marked afk from running around looking for totems for too long, specifically you only lose crows when a cleansing is finished. This means that a full Hex build could be devastating as all the players would be counted as AFK unless they get lucky or are one of those rare players with the totem locations memorized.
or we can start using maps? i personally use maps since you never know if a killer is running a hex or if i want to run boons

the crappy maps almost kinda force it. what fo you do on Haddonfield vs Nurse besides just die? you bush tech lol.
I have fond memories of running Fixated + QnQ + OoO to "accidentally" reveal my aura while tbagging the killer thrn i walk to a locker and hide. seeing a Nurse start opening lockers, kick the gens, leave, come back, open lockers, kick gen, leave, but then they pretend to leave but actually double back, but I anticipate the double back and they still can't find me will always be amusing to me.
I understand killers hate that but that is what true stealth is; drawing aggro while burning zero resources .
don't high level people just run reshade and low settings so foliage is gone? i don't think bush tech is a thing at low settings or it nerfed a lot

so what's the obsession with a spider killer?

deception i would put in c tier since it seems a bit too niche since most lockers have los

Now that it's been a while since the latest Blood Moon event has ended, I remember that a big point of controversy was that the blood moon generators did not count as generators in terms of perks or powers.
I just wanted to say that I actually quite enjoyed this, as it allowed for builds to be made without having to focus on running full gen slowdown; it was very nice to be able to think of fun non-meta builds for whenever I played.
at least on the killer side it was terrible since you couldn't kick gas cans unless a survivor willingly dropped them survivors running with blood cans didn't affect them much and blood gens gave no information from any killer perks but the 8 kick limit was still there also i think prove worked on blood gens
it was a terrible event from a balance perspective

So, this morning I was playing Freddy on Midwich against a good team. I had only got two hooks before the final generator popped.
I hooked Kate in the middle of the courtyard and the survivors kept messing up the save.
I eventually had Kate hanging on 2nd hook with 2 slugs and chased the healthy one out the gate.
Then, all 3 abandoned. You're telling me that 3k I got doesn't count as a win for me? That's wild 😆
no for survivors before ptb goes live it's a draw for them but if killer abandons it's a loss essentially
so if you abandoned with all bots you "draw" even though they dc you have to play with bots or nothing counts besides bp
if survivors hide for 10 minutes to wait you out and you abandon as killer it's a loss
-

To be fair, I don’t think it’s very realistic to expect a player that has something like emetophobia (A condition that makes them vomit if they hear/see vomit) to not be allowed to play the game when Plague is 1 out of 39 killers. Not even taking into account her pickrate, at a 1.45%. You’re more likely to encounter a Nurse, with a pickrate at 3.24%.
This is just one example but some killers can trigger actual conditions that a player cannot control. Just like some players are actually colorblind. Just because it may have been a small percentage does not mean they should be excluded from QOL. Nor should we blame them for being born that way.
honestly i think if you have these types of conditions you shouldn't play the game for the sake of their own health.

Haddonfield had an issue because of Balanced Landing, and even then, the 110% killers were Huntress, Hag and Spirit, all of which could handle these windows.
spirit could huntress couldn't because of the angles the windows were at hag could if she placed traps either beforehand or during chase which then a survivor ran from that loop

I've seen a pretty good general perception for his addons actually being transformative. Foxy hook, Celebrate poster,Freddys tophat, Access panel to name a few all can have dramatic effects on Springtrap's power. And i know people were tired of the usual "extends range by x, increases speed by x" that we had for most killers now. It's better to have the power release strong enough and have the addons actually change it up. Though I have also seen complaints about some of these addons (namely foxy hook and celebrate poster) So what's people's honest opinions on the list?
i wish access panel was buffed to work on survivors looking at cameras rather than never hitting anyone or make it a brown add-on since it's actually useless

Why is this licensed perk in the Shrine of Secrets? It's an incredibly useless perk. You could give it global range and it'd still suck.

Plus accessibility issues. Do you hate going against The Ghoul because you think he's OP and unfair? Suck it up.
Are you unable to face The Doctor because his flashing lights and other effects cause you physical harm? This is a problem BHVR needs to address and in the mean time you should NOT be punished for needing to leave the game.
Are you unable to play against The Clown due to Coulrophobia? Fair, there should be something implemented to combat this, I am not sure what, but I'm not a developer.
Anyone who says anything like "If you aren't willing to play against a certain killer for any reason, you shouldn't be playing DBD at all." is an ableist.if you aren't willing to play against a certain killer for any reason you shouldn't be playing at all since that's called getting good at the game
if you aren't willing to play the game to have fun learn and get better why play dbd?

Well, survivors do need to have resources, they can't be left helpless. Having stronger resources in the game is a good idea to combat the more oppressive anti-loop killers and the wave of generic dash killers.
And most players are used to handling stronger windows with M1 killers from back in the day. I think it will be fine.
but that's not what happened it was so bad that they had to remove god windows from old haddonfield by just making them not spawn since 110% killers couldn't catch survivors at these loops

Back then BHVR hinted towards a "psychological horror" route for Sadako, which made me very intrigued, as she doesn't chase any victims or even appear too much in her movie. But then we got what felt for me like a quite basic killer. Not that I didn't like her, it just felt like a wasted opportunity.

I understand that new killers have to be OP and shiny on release to incentivize people to buy them, but I feel like a lot of the older killers have been left by the wayside. Chucky is awful to play, Xenomorph disappeared off the map, Trapper is still awful after years and years, and Ghostface still isn't great to use. Sadako's been left back where she was pre-rework with some nerfs to boot, and Skull Merchant is basically permanently killswitched.
Please even out the power of the roster a little bit. Both sides have been in a type of arms race, and it's feeling impossible for older killers to even keep up anymore. What will a bubba do against a group of 4 competent survivors? What will a Knight do? I feel like most of my games are just against Kaneki, Blight, Hillbilly, and Wesker.
And as for playing killer, it just sucks to play the ones that have seemingly been left as "fine" despite their current status. It's unlikely that Sadako or Chucky will recieve any changes for several patches, and we all know that the only thing holding this game back from p2w status is Nurse's atlas complex.
Please, just make the worse killers better/rework them. Put some time into killers that aren't the new shiny toys or fan favorites.
i mean isn't it up to the devs to ignore survivor complaints about a killer since nerfs make them end up on a bad state?

The Issue Explained
This is an issue affecting many killers including the newest killer Springtrap where chests and killer items use the same spawns and chests take priority when a map is generated. This means on certain maps where key locations on the map only have 1 chest spawn or when multiple chests are being spawned in through certain offerings, it is making certain killer items which rely on being spawned by generators, spawn in places nowhere near the generators actively making certain killers almost entirely powerless for the match or removing 50% of their power and making survivors interaction with these items incredibly difficult.
The killers who have interactive items that need to be by generators such as Sadako to push condemn, Xenomorph/Alien to pressure generators AND for survivors to reliably get the turrets to break him out of power, end up having their TV's/Turret Stations spawning great distances away from generators. Below I've created a video showcasing just how egregious this issue can get with these killers:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s0G9U2B-Ctc&
Most recently now Springtrap is also affected by this where his doors are being spawned edge map in places that are completely useless for both Springtrap and survivors. They are too far to ever reliably be used to spot Springtrap using the cameras and they are too far to reliably pressure certain areas of the map.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/02WIK8VW3TJS/screenbox-20252801-182811.png
The door beside me and the door in the distance infront will be useless for the entire match.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/FR39BBEWZC5P/screenbox-20252701-182716.png
The door off in the distance is so far aware from main that there is never a reason to use it.

Here is is on Xenomorph spawning 3 turrets right next to one another rather than being meaningfully spread out.
Why this is Such a Problem
This is a major design flaw because now we have situations where you simply lose the match based on offerings you can't predict in the lobby. It also means any event where the event offering spawns in chests like the recent winter event and the last anniversary event become borderline unplayable for these killers and in the case of the anniversary offering, it repeatedly shows up after the anniversary because people are using it for bloodpoints not spawning in extra chests.
Simultaneously, in the case of Xenomorph and Springtrap, the survivors interactions with the killer powers become exceedingly frustrating since you either need to go out your way to get a turret to the parts of the map where tunnels haven't spawned or you just can't use multiple cameras/doors for traversal around the map and to spot Springtrap.
I previously reported this as a bug and then it was said to not be a bug and intentional design, then the whole post was ignored despite many of us expressing our concerns with the problems this mechanic caused. So, here I am pleading on behalf of all players that this finally be addressed because it's actively gotten worse with the recent PTB with offering changes since in the PTB, the coin offerings are now secret we won't even be able to tell when a survivor brings in these offerings.
How We Attempted to Fix the Issue
We had 2 ways to try and deal with this problem
- We could force close the game when multiple offerings that spawned in more chests were used so we actually had a power. Something that should never under any circumstances be something a player needs to worry about doing.
- We could run the cut coin to remove 2 chests from play. However, the cut coin method only worked if survivors also didn't bring in offerings to spawn in more chests.
Killers ability to play the game and likewise, survivors interaction with killer powers under no circumstances should ever be held hostage because of offerings not being ran for this purpose. This is a mechanic that simply shouldn't exist in any capacity because it does nothing to improve the game. Losing a match before you've even loaded in isn't fun to play, nor is it fun to play against. Imagine if the next anniversary offering rendered a meta perk like decisive completely useless, it wouldn't be justifiable but for some reason it rendering a killers entire gameplay loop useless is supposedly fine?
Potential Fixes
The best way to fix it would be to make killer items spawn in first during map generation so they take priority. That way if killer needs their power to spawn near generators to be useful and for survivors to reliably interact with it, it actually happens. This would be the best solution because now chests and chest builds can be used against and on these killers while not needing to rework maps and such (you would need to make an exception for the basement). However I've got some other potential fixes.
- Make the cut coin offering work like the new shroud offering. Instead of just removing 2 chests, add a secondary condition that ignores all chest spawn effects from perks/offerings and then remove 2 chests. This way players using event items for bloodpoints keep the bloodpoints while killers can remove the chest effects no matter how many are used. This puts this offering in line with Sacrificial Wards and the new Shroud offerings.
- Add more spawns into the map with a minimum 2 spawns in a 24m radius of generators and put a limit on how close 2 chests can spawn beside each other. This way there will always be a spot for killer items by generators should the killer need it.
- Add in specific spawns for killer items. This way chests cannot displace killer spawns no matter what because they don't share the same spawns.
Final Thoughts
Please BHVR, address this issue. This is a mechanic that is now affecting 3 licensed killers including the most hyped killer in this games history, we pay real money for these killers and we should be allowed to play them on an even playing field no matter what map/offering is being ran. We should be allowed to participate in events without worry that half our power is going to be completely useless and survivors shouldn't need to take 30 second detours with Turrets to be able to use them in more than 1/4 of the map. Please address this problem. Thank you.
yea it honestly it makes no sense why killer items don't take priority over chests/survivor items since chests being away from gens help survivors because killers are less likely to patrol those areas
-
@Kapkan said:
Whether it's original or licensed chapters, they're mostly neglected or postponed for the sake of focusing on new chapters to make money. Of course they have to make money but it feels so wrong when you want to dedicate a killer only for that killer to be made obsolete by another killer. I mean why would you play Wraith when you play Dracula? He has so much to give and Dracula is much better than Wraith.
In fact, why would anyone want to play another killer when Nurse and Blight exist? It's like they made Nurse on purpose just to create an excuse that no matter what killer they make, nobody will be better than the Nurse so they can push on selling chapter after chapter without repercussion despite the hate some killers get like Kaneki. Nobody can deny that Nurse is better than Kaneki. But what I don't get is when there is the Nurse, why would they nerf other killers like Chucky, Skull Merchant, etc? I just don't understand the logic other than Nurse requires more game time to understand her power than some of the easier killers? But then again, it still requires time to learn the game in general anyway.
Whatever the reason is, I don't think this whole business strategy is healthy in the long-term but who am I. I ain't no Mr. Cote or Remi Racine. I'm just some dude who play games lol
that's a survivor complaining issue

What was the point of adding them if you're not gonna expand on the idea or do anything with them for such a long time? You add a general Perk that allows Killers to break boons which was pretty neat, but not add any general boon Perk to Survivors so the Killer Perk could be used at all? So that perk only works on a mechanic locked behind "luck" through the Shrine of Secrets or a DLC…
Then boons get nerfed (rightfully for some), but then the brand new cool general Killer Perk becomes an unusable dead perk in 99% of matches, because nobody just uses those damn boons, and why would they?
I just don't get it, BHVR has so many options to improve upon the Survivor gameplay by expanding on ideas they already have in the game, like boons, breakable walls, teamwork perks, etc…
Anyone can answer this?
killers actually can't break boons they only break the totem which is still a problem since boons can be placed infinitely but hexes can't

How is that balanced?outside of the pizzaria rng usually is awful with doors especially with 2 floor maps like midwitch

Other than windows I've never seen so many survivors running the same perk.
Is the perk an issue or is the map design the issue?
Just curious because I'm definitely in the category of you pay your money you play how you want with whatever perks you want.
no the 3 gen strat got killed by 8 kick and anyone keeping track of gens can just split up gens to prevent a 3 gen

Yes, most killers have certain similarities, but this is not a bad thing nor mean that they're a cheap copy of other one, we ALWAYS, since the start of the game, had killers that derived from other ones
Hag → trapper
Bubba → Billy
Og Freddy -> wraith
Clown → huntress
Spirit -> nurse
Ghost face → myers
Oni -> hillbilly
And the list goes on, but are they bad, uninspired etc? No! They're all really good/cool characters
Look at Xenomorph, a lot of people say that she's Just Demogorgon and Nemesis in one killer because she can travel the map and have a short range projectile... but they ignore the fact that Her tail Works in a completely different way, anyone who actually plays nemesis or xeno know how different they feel and play, and her "tunnels" are also very different to the portals, and the same thing applies to Dracula, houndmaster and our brand new killer
"He's just huntress and dredge together" yes, they share similar concepts, but there's absolutely no dimension where Dredge's teleport works like the new door system thing, the way you play them is completely different, same for the hatchet/axe
---------------------
That's all I wanted to say :)
the og freddy to wraith comparison is a stretch the only really thing they shared was invisibility but back then freddy was completely invisible until he pulled you into dream

the gen kick limit puts a hard limit on gens and to pull out the cope killers are allegedly the "power role"

Strong but ultimately really boring & derivative.
The axe recall time being as punishing as it is encourages waiting for guaranteed hits, which is going to be felt long term as people stop trying stupid ######### with him. I personally wish they leaned into the close range orbital playstyle more (or did the classic weapon recall = new attack vector thing) instead of the useless killer instinct bubble that only really serves as a means to enable add-ons. And the security room thing is literally just Forgotten Ruins portals but incredibly killer sided due to the fact that he can instadown survivors caught in it and trying to reveal him on cams is a total waste of time (and incredibly risky besides). Like yeah you can (relatively) safely travel between doors as survivor when someone's in chase, which is cool and useful for macro, but that's about it.
Given that I don't think he's going to get any massive design changes I think the bare minimum they need to focus on is giving survivors a better incentive to use the cams (and doors in general). Because for something that was hyped up as this amazing new side objective thing survivors can do and as something that's the bread and butter of the games (or at least some of them, idk I don't care for or about FNAF as an IP) the cams thing is arguably tied for the last important part of the entire power and feels incredibly tacked on and directionless. The meme factor of the cams is nice for clip farming I guess.
i used doors in chase before as survivor it just but you have to mash a random door and springtrap has to break a pallet
