How about this for a deepcut license that would never happen but might be fun: Tourist Trap.
Would also really love a full Evil Dead chapter, there is a lot they could do with that!
-
just give survivors a comms wheel with basic messages, having the 2 point and wave emotes is a joke.

Yeah but how exactly are you fixing this? A miserable experience in this game is a subjective thing. That mean we would have to let the devs decide what an "unfun" thing in this game
They shouldn't be devs if they dont know what fun gameplay is lmao

It isn't even that.
I can literally play as kind as non meta as possible, I can go in not doing ANYTHING bad, I can go in playing friendly and spread hooks and be super chill, I can go in and purposefully try to lose.
And the second someone loses a chase with me, sees I'm a Killer they dislike, or they make a minor mistake I don't even try to correct, they still DC.
It's 100% not just Survivors not having a chance, because when I purposefully give them a chance they still do it.When it's as bad as it is now, people don't have any incentive to play soloq so yes they will go next even more than usual because it's not fun anymore. It's the natural progression. So what you say tracks with my post. I expect it to continue to get worse, and my prediction is it will come to a head when they get bunch of new players from the FNAF chapter.
-
I agree, I experience the same sort of things. Soloq survivor is an unplayable slog. Killer is now too easy and boring. Game is going to straight up die at this rate, no idea what the devs are thinking other than they dont care or are not paying any attention to what's happening. Might be bad leadership who knows, but they keep making it worse so I give up hope they know what they are doing or will fix anything.
Since they refuse to give soloq any sort of comm wheel or comms of any kind, I agree swf and soloq should have different under the hood rules to even it out. Somethings gotta be done because the game is awful right now.
-
yes its awful. And killer is way too easy now, that it is boring imo. I had more fun as killer when survivors had a chance. Soloq survivor is probably the worst game experience out there right now. Why punish yourself to play it other than to complete a challenge real quick? even that can be painful. Devs dont give a damn so I expect the game to keep bleeding players. Instead of fixing the game they just add survivor bots to fill in for the players that gave up and quit the game. soon it will be a killer only game with nothing but survivor bots, but that seems to be what the killer only players who dont want any kind of challenge WANT the game to be, so be it. All my friends quit who played survivor for a reason.

We're talking about a game where the slightest Survivor error can doom the entire team (even without "going next"), and even finishing all of the gens doesn't necessarily mean they win. Is it any wonder why people go next?
inc killer mains who just want an easy win to feel good. Survivor side of game is a massive problem, its just not fun, too hard especially with no comms in soloq. its just a frustrating experience that WILL kill the game. Devs dont seem to care so it is what it is, hopefully some smart devs will look at what BHVR did wrong and make a better game some day in the same genre.

Because it's easy. I can see the frustration from getting bad solo queue teammates, or being unlucky enough to be the tunneled one nearly every time, but otherwise what is there to complain about as survivor? If I get on a certain time of day, I'm getting good teammates a little more consistently. Maybe people just need to find that right time slot. And if the killer's running strong perks or using strong strategies, aren't there survivor perks that just negate that?
dont worry bro, dont balance and fix the game bro, just roll the dice on a timeslot bro…

I'm fine with losing, mostly. It's the endless BM that eventually gets under my skin. Killers can be irritating in their own way too, but aside from the very occasional 4 man bleedout moron it's pretty mild. And that will get fixed sooner than later.
Survivors on the other hand - even by the law of averages, maybe 25% of the survivors I lose to will sit in the exit gates to BM. Or worse, 2 or 3 play hide and seek for the entire match and don't even touch gens. Yes, it's technically against the rules but even on the Reddit I cannot find any case, even anecdotal, of someone getting banned for it.
There are few things more frustrating than having your time wasted.
I'd say 5% of killers I've lost to BM at all, and a fraction of that in a way that deliberately wastes my time.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3857687#Comment_3857687
Oh the bleedouts are really annoying too, or the 'I really want that mori' type but those are really, really rare. And will 100% get fixed before too long, it's just too heavily complained about not to.
However, if we're going to compare something analogous, survivors that hide and avoid crows to BM or stall the game out waste far more of your time.
Something that's not even on the radar.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3857741#Comment_3857741
Survivor is miserable as a solo, but you cannot balance it for solos otherwise SWFs poop on everyone. The best of two bad options is balancing mostly around SWF. Yes that sucks, but you always have the option of finding a bunch of people who play via the Discord.
Game is night and day doing that.
bad logic and game design, Making the majority of the playerbase suffer bad game design because of the minority that play with discord friends is absurd. The correct course of action is to balance swf/soloq. Allow some form of comms, maybe a comms wheel, honestly anything. Imagine making a pvp game that requires teamwork and coordination to win and not allowing said ability to coordinate. Only people who use discord with some friends are allowed a balanced game. no thats dumb. bad design, bad everything.
-
I honestly dont know why anyone bothers trying to player survivor anymore.

nothing but a camp/tunnel fest in ALL my matches.

I think the question is how did the whole team get slugged to begin with? Usually it's because whole team tries to play toxic and team blind/body block the killer when they try hook. If they do that then it's fair game. But if people are spread out doing gens then the killer shouldn't really be able to slug the whole team.. unless the team refused to heal the slugs.
I was just in a soloq match where the killer had us blind and was slugging everyone. Game is unplayable garbage for soloq most of the time imo.
-
Should take it a step further and allow all players who queue up in solo-queue to quit with no penalty or points loss.

I don’t personally slug, Except maybe at endgame to prevent hatch I slug one person to go find the other. However, you think that you are entitled to be actually doing something the entire game, and think that the killers objectives should be circumvented so that you can do what you want to do the key word is that it’s wants. That is the definition of entitlement you want to do something and you think the game should be changed so that you can do what you want to do.
"you think you are entitled to do something" imagine wanting to be able to DO SOMETHING IN A GAME. How DARE you want good gameplay! that's entitlement! You vll play zee bad gamez, You vil eat zee bugz, and You vil LIKE IT!

yeah, that’s the point that you’re not doing anything ie: gens. You’re literally admitting that you are so entitled that you think that survivors should just be able to do whatever they want for the entire game without the killer being able to do anything about it.
No, you think being stuck on the ground with nothing to do for such a long period of time is good game design and gameplay, and it IS NOT. It's absolutely SHOCKING that I even have to explain this, maybe it's stockholm syndrome.
'Entitled' is such a buzzword, we are ALL entitled to a good game, and I think the devs want to have a good game that is enjoyable to play.
It's simple bad gameplay to be stuck with no option but to stare at your screen while a slow timer runs out. IT'S BAD. Maybe you are just a troll who enjoys slugging people until they bleed out because you have nothing better to do with your time, idk. There are a lot of changes they could make to fix the issue, the easiest being basekit unbreakable of some kind but honestly ANYTHING would be better.
-
@Rutersxc said:
Can't they make a system that can tell what SBMM they're in and how many survivors are in a party then adjust the game accordingly to make the match even and fair as closely as possible?
Just give a comms wheel like most other games have. Evil Dead had a decent one.
-
@Gplays2000 said:
Taking unbreakable in Solo Q is just not worth it most of the time. In my opinion they should implement a basekit unbreakable mechanic to incentivize the killers to go for hooks and not leave people on the ground…as that is just completely miserable.
Yes the game needs this, and despite what any excuse anyone gives as to why they shouldn't the truth is simple, it's terrible game design to have you stuck on the ground with nothing to do for that long. Needs to happen asap. There is no debate, it's just a fact.

We do not play in the same game, right? Me and my friends - not even very experienced - they had like 1-2k Hours each and I was the only that had 6.500 hours. We played like 30 games without any perks and items, but we played for win. And what? We lost a game against Iri Blight that tunneled hard (we had no perks) and we lost like 2-3 games and now I don' remember them - I think it was Nurse and Billy - other games - completely disaster.
obviously your mmr was at the lowest it can be if their hours were that low, so probably easy games, makes sense. For the majority of players, that is not the playing experience. Def not mine.

The problem with your argument is that the exact same thing (except for the length of time) applies to Killer. While Survivor did have crutches with pre 6.1 DH, release CoH, etc it's now the crutches are gone, that's in the past, and there are Killers, a minority but a significant minority, who are relying on crutches such as tunnelling as their failsafes.
Rather than being us vs them and attempting to bring up a past history that no longer currently applies it would be healthier if there were no crutches for either side so the exact same thing applies to Killers. It's time to learn the macro game, learn when to drop chase and when to continue, how to apply gen pressure, stop applying crutches such as tunnelling and put yourself in the MMR category you deserve to be at instead of being carried to higher MMR levels due to said crutches.
"a significant minority, who are relying on tunneling"
LMAO, bruh. Every single match I've played has a hard tunneling killer with proxy camping. I can't take most of these posts seriously. Soloq survivor is a miserable experience and killer is so OP it's boring. (I used to be a killer mian but it's gotten so easy I just play survivor mostly now)
-
This game is a miserable experience for survivor (mainly soloq which is huge majority) and too easy and boring as killer now.
This game reminds me a lot of World of Warcraft. Like WoW, DbD has been around a long time and has a ton of content that new competitors in the genre cant compete with, so instead the only thing that will kill DbD will be DbD, just like how blizzard has pretty much killed WoW with terrible design decisions and slowly ruining the game, only listening to a tiny minority of players (harcore raiders etc) I see so many similarities to BHVR and Dbd.
The Devs seem to be too arrogant to fix the design flaws of the game so I foresee it will continue to get worse and worse, such a shame. A good example of this is the fundamental design flaw that is the hook mechanic. We finally had proof of that with the 2 vs 8 mode, where the hook mechanic was entirely changed, and people actually were having fun again, imagine that.
-
I stopped playing Killer because it's too easy. This is a problem BHVR has created, they intentionally disabled the ability for survivor teammates to communicate in anyway in a game that requires coordination to win (lol). Therefore it will always be severely underpowered and frustrating to play soloq survivor, which is the largest % of players. This issue will ultimately kill the game imo.
In before someone says "Voice chat is tooooxxiiiiic". Voice chat is not necessary, there are a multitude of ways to communicate. A common way is the comms wheel. Only having a wave and point emote is laughable.
I started playing the game around when the Hellraiser chapter released, and was a killer main for a long time. Killer felt challenging and fun back then, but now its so mindlessly easy as killer that it is just not fun to play anymore. I mostly just play survivor now until I get frustrated enough to quit because of how oppressively OP killers feel and how bad the soloq experience is with a lack of coordination of any kind. We STILL don't even have the ability to see what our teammates perks or even offerings will be in the lobby!

It's pretty obvious when the unhooked survivors runs at the killer stopping just in front of them and then emoting at the killer to hit/kill them. People can open support tickets to supply videos when needed. Though would be nice for in-game reports to be better in general without needing to go through the support ticket system.
At some point, if you are spending so much energy trying to work around systems to not get punished for rage quitting, then maybe you should be playing a different game.
Yeah bro, just ban all your paying customers bro, dont fix the game bro heck no, just ban half the playerbase yeah thats the ticket!

all my friends quit because of it since they only played survivor and they ain't coming back either. I hope one day they will try to make survivor more fun before everyone else quits.

Their culture is very sensitive about people referencing their mythology, especially when it is bastardised as an internet version that doesn't reflect the original. It's best to respect that.
Instead, why not use one of the hundred or so other shapeshifter myths from every other culture in the world that also thought of one for the same purpose?
By that logic no-one could use or reference anything anywhere because someone somewhere would find a way to be offended or sensitive about it for whatever reason. Reminds me of the 90s when Christians wanted to ban doom and Harry Potter because it had demons/magic in it. Absolutely silly.

Got in an hour debate online all because I said I prefer the modern Wendigo with the skull and exposed bones so I hope it becomes a skin for a Skinwalker-like killer in Dead By daylight. I get called being dense and laughed at for being "Cultural insensitive". Asked to be left alone and I get responded to "You started it by preferring the modern Wendigo". Forgot the memo of online rules that there is always 1 person to hate you for a comment and will refuse to leave you alone.
I want to know if I was in the wrong for wanting an outfit for a DBD Skinwalker killer. I grew up with the Wendigo Skeletal version and I am 23 in college for Graphics and Game Design. I know the OG version is more like the Until Dawn one but I just love the ancient monster design more since feels more un-escapable and is more of a singular being instead of people suffering from affliction.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/AETD8U0CT8RK/image.png
This is more of the OG Wendigo
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/4YU8MI9F2LXE/image.png
This is the Wendigo I grew up reading and seeing all the time.
I am a huge Cryptid fan from El Chupacabra to the Jersey Devil of Pine Barrens which I did a middle school project of.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/26UV4B2SHYSZ/image.png
And I am just aware of this after that waste of time argument. Had no idea since I only follow up on teasers and log in game for codes. Been off and on due to college work.
I overall are just curious from a wide community view if I am really a bad person for wanting this.
Skinwalkers and Wendigos are classic mythical monsters. There have been a lot of interesting artistic takes on them, so I'm sure if BHVR added one as a killer they would give it their own unique spin. I always assumed the Hag was their take on a wendigo.
-
Devs don't want it balanced. I'd just like it if survivor wasn't such an unfun bully simulator right now. Killer used to be fun and challenging and now it feels too ez. Best option imo is just to play killer or play a different game

People really don't understand the amount of solo players in this game.
Since 6.1.0 solo queue has been so painful that I've migrated to playing killer more often. And regardless of how much killers complain each time they get nerfed, I've had a solid 85~ish% kill rate with, like, a couple of unusually hard matches each month. Getting BP, completing missions and winning the game is super easy as a killer because solo survivors do not play efficently, they're here to have a good time, and killer is so, so, SO ahead of them that walking to them and clicking them immediately makes them combust. 90% of the chases are about 15 seconds long.
Every time I go back to play survivor (Because I still like the concept of survivor more than the concept of killer, as I'm more a fan of the Alien Isolation type of powerless fantasy rather than the God Of War power fantasy), I am about 95% sure I'm queuing into a losing match. My rank must be so low it's physically impossible for me to find worse killers, and regardless, killers keep winning. My only escapes tend to be either a lucky hatch or a killer takes pity on us or is memeing around. That's the MAJORITY of my escapes.
And yet, killers keep complaining when they can't double tap people off the hook, and SWF keep playing the martyr card with their "You can't punish us for playing with friends?!?!?!?!?!? How will we cope?!?!?!?!".
Most people that play this game are usually solo players that like the concept. By focusing balancing around SWF, you make the game only fun to play in a SWF, while you push out every player that feels like they're being punished because they don't have a group of friends they can play with.
well said. Same experience for me.

https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/405173/why-is-the-player-base-decreasing
All games die.
That's the natural way things work. New games are constantly coming out competing for attention. Meanwhile, no matter how good a game is, people get bored of it and look for something new.
Maintaining an active playerbase for as long as DbD has is an amazing achievement. Time is far more of a threat to the game than any particular complaint people have about it.
In theory the player base should increase and not decrease.Given what I mentioned above, game improvements need to be made just to keep the player base stable.
All bad games die*
fixed that for you.
-
funny thing is they don't need to learn, the devs made this a viable strategy that works every time, especially against soloq and since it hasn't been addressed I take it's the way the devs want the game to be played. *shrug*

I mean, heaven forbid Killers try to win, amIright?
Survivors can use 12 META perks, be in a SWF, and use Discord.
They also have BT basekit if 'tunneled', which they abuse to bodyblock, then complain that they can still be downed; A mechanic to self-unhook if a Killer 'camps'; A new mechanic that prevents Killers from kicking gens too many times. All basekit.
But a Killer trying to secure kills? That's 'lame' and 'boring' and 'killing the game' and 'toxic'! 🙄
^ It's not a us vs them, it's a good game or a bad game. Its simply bad gameplay and needs to be changed for the health of the overall game. Its not about who 'wins' so much as is it fun gameplay, its really that simple.
-
despite all the cope from killer only players who can't win any games without camping and tunneling, the whole camp/tunnel tactic is lame and boring and killing the game. All my friends quit because of it and won't be back. Since I also enjoy killer I still stuck around however. Also the Anti FACE camp mechanic doesn't really prevent FACE camping either. As I already mentioned you can easily go into second stage from a face camping killer if he just does the ol' 2 step dance once or twice.
-
100% of all my survivor matches are proxy camp and tunnel out. very boring, brutal in soloq. I dunno if anyone else's experience is the same, but I've given up on survivor. The ATF needs to at least progress slightly faster as you can still facecamp well into 2nd stage easily.
-
every single game in a row is literally nothing but camp and tunnel. 100% of all my survivor games. Its about as lame and boring as it gets. Time to only play killer I guess.

I mean with a weapon in hand, my point is getting stabbed randomly whilst carrying someone and dropping them with 0 counter play is not fun.
No weapon in hand? Semantics. Flashlights/fireworks/flashbang/decisive strike are a weapon that is carried by the survivor, so I still can't tell if you trolling or just want to argue because you hate change of any kind. Who said there wouldn't be counter play? That's like saying flashlights and pallets have no counter play.
I think the game would be greatly improved by adding some new survivor weapons to vary it up and add some spice. We have only had flashlights, flashbangs, decisive and pallets for forever. Lets add something new. The flame turrets were a good addition as far as survivor weapons but it's tied to one particular killer.

It might just be me, but I’ve wished to be able to fight back against the killer. I think it’d be fun to give the survivors a perk that’s an actual weapon and doesn’t just stun the killer.
“Widdle Me This”: A perk that gives the survivor a wooden stake after repairing a generator that they can use to inflict bleeding on the killer.
It would have a one time use like Deliverance, but could be used to get killers to drop survivors they’re carrying. Or get away if they find you on a generator. All the killer would have to do is mend themselves (takes 5 seconds) or else it’ll drastically slow them down.
It would be a way to reward survivors for working on generators and add a bit more pressure for killers. Anyone have thoughts about it?
Good idea. More items in the weapons category would be great as we already have Flash lights, fireworks and the perk flashbang, so why not add some new variety. Your idea would be basically be an alternate Decisive Strike which would be nice actually. Could be a pipe or something from the generator that's not needed anymore when repaired. But it would be a perk. I think we should have new actual ITEMS with addon potential like the flashlight.
A few ideas;
1 .Pallet Wood-Planks/Baseball-bats. Green tier: wood plank(From a broken pallet so would have the same aesthetic), Purple tier: Wooden baseball bat.
The broken wood plank would never appear in a chest, but would have a very low % chance to spawn at broken pallets. The effect would be a single use melee attack on the killer that stuns them for a few seconds. Ideally used for Saves or at the right moment to help teammates in a chase. Would be too slow and interrupted if faced to face with a killer attack however. Baseball bat variation would simply break after 2 hits.
- Addons for the Woodplank/Bat: 1. Barb wire : extra stun time. 2. Nails : Extra Stun time. 3. Grip Wraps: Faster swing/windup
2. Molotov-Cocktail. Purple tier.
Would work mechanically the same as the flashlight in how you aim by holding down right MB. The main difference is that there is a delay for the survivor to light the Molotov with a lighter. Throwing the Molotov with a direct hit on the killer would stun + blind combination. Hitting close to the killer would cause a short blind if they are in its AOE. Some skill would be required for the survivor player to properly aim and hit the killer, it would arc in the air similar to a Huntress Hatchet.
- Addons for the Molotov Cocktail: 1. kerosene Wick : Shorter light time. 2. Napalm Mixture : Extra Stun time. 3. Gas Mixture : Extra Blind time.
-
I wish they would add a communication wheel like Evil Dead the game has. Need to be able to communicate in soloq.

We don't need voice chat, although I think it's very amusing with proximity chat for anyone who played Friday the 13th it was wild, but I think DBD needs a communication wheel like Evil Dead the game has.
-
The game still has the fundamental problem of requiring teamwork and coordination to win with no way to communicate in the game.
-
I had a Wesker hold my game hostage by carrying me into a corner/deadzone and downing me over and over and carrying me back into the corner. I was infected and slowed so it was impossible to escape even though I tried. This lasted for around 40 minutes. I reported anyway.
-
I'd like a new exhaustion perk that lets you do a running dive through a vault/window gaining I -Frames. You'd come to a rolling stop at a further distance on the other side of the vault.
-
atleast first 30 secs so I can dc against grossly OP killers like blight or nurse etc.

That's bait my friend but I'll bite.
First : true facecamping doesn't exist. YOU CAN UNHOOK THE SURVIVOR. Facecamping made it impossible to unhook the survivor.
Second : camping is sometimes the necessary evil against survivors that become too efficient for the killer to handle.
it's so efficient to camp that 90% of every game I'm in the killer camps and soloq has a much harder time dealing with it. just admit you enjoy the camping life and quit pretending to be objective.
