  • Coming to the realization that I dont care about pipping made this game ten times more fun. Prestiging sealed this. So now I just run about doing as I want. When I play survivor ill make myself goals and play a role. Make choices based on my current characters personality. This Cheryl is gonna pay back that Nea who safe saved her. Dwight and Also Nea tho? The ones that both blew engines and ran? Fuckem. But that first Nea? I'll take a protection hit so you can get to the hatch. I depiped, but had fun and helped get a good player to the choppa.

Same as killer. I love booting up clown with no perks, no addons and just stand still swinging like a bot. Afterawhile the survivors grow comfortable with me and start farming. I let them... until the final engine is fixed. They all run back to teabag me, because dont they all? Thats when I gas them, noed triggers and I down all of them. I then force them to crawl on their bellies towards the exit slowly teasing them. Usually they all leave... Usually. :D

Scares the ######### out of em. Also like two of em usually pop up and hit me with a pallet and open the door on their own. Or they cleansed all the totems because why wouldn't you. Still. Spooks the ######### out of em.

I stopped caring about depiping and de ranking and hoarding. This games pretty awesome.

Hrm. I don't know what to tell you, but I get grab quite frequently and I'm certainly NOT playing against Spuds. Most teams I play are all Red Rank Survivors and have been for some time. Full context, however, I play a LOT of Spooky Myers. I have no terror radius and I am fairly decent at sneaking up on people.

Its not actually as impossible as its being made out to be, but it can be super finicky. There are some grabs where I'm just blown away it happened, other times I should clearly have gotten that grab and instead im just watching them lithe away.

However I find gen grabs and vault grabs to be about 70% reliable, and I openly admit a good chunk of that was probably me, but hook grabbing seems to never work for me and I have no clue what I am doing wrong.

  • I had a weird situation as trapper when a Dwight jumped in a locker i did the full animation for pulling someone out, including grabbing Dwight, then he just appeared behind me looking as confused as I was.

The answer to why this is a common strategy is because the game is 100% imbalanced and it is impossible to hunt 4 people spread out throughout the map 3x each unless they are hot garbage compared to their capabilities.

    It is sad, but true.

Devs come up with such a good game concept, but the balance is dog ######### and they should not be forgiven until it is fixed.

The issue isn't explicitly balance, its that the game concept hasn't been altered since the beginning despite deviating away.

Dbd was not originally a team game. It was supposed to be four individuals quasi working together while only really caring about themselves. However DBD has changed into a 4v1 team game. This is fine, but the originally concept is lost while the old mechanics remain. If its a team game now it needs to be altered to represent that. Hooking needs a different punishment, killers need a different goal.

For example, boost killer speed slightly and make hooking no longer death. Players hanging from the hook hang indefinitely/set time out and killer perks/powers alter the trial based on how many hooks at once they got as well as total hooks. Once they get a set number of hooks, or hook everyone at once. The gates open, the survivors spawn in lockers randomly and the killer can now mori you. If the survivors complete their objective gates can be opened and killer cannot mori, but egc still exists.

This would essentially stop any legitimate need to camp and tunnel, because it literally means losing the game as you'd get nothing from staring at a survivor, hell make the point scoring for the hook not work at all while within the penalty radius alone.

I feel this gives the devs so much more room to play with killers. Killers can be threats again and it won't result in a 2 minute game. The killer has ample reason to keep hunting instead of camp or tunneling.

This of course is an armchair idea. I feel it would work, though I am sure tinkering would be required.

My survivor Q time in the morning is instant and killer takes 10 minutes, and it's the opposite in the afternoon.

I'm on the NA west coast and I get instant survivor times till about 6pm, then it switches and I get instant killer queues. In both cases the other is usually a 5 minute wait till about 430 when you can feel the changing of the guard.

Naturally I'm not asking where exactly you live but what timezone are you abouts if you are comfortable with that. Super curious if it lines up.

  • @Jejune said:

If you included weaker version of ruin as a basekit you would literally have to nerf majority of killer perks as well as top tier killers... There is a reason why there are 4 perk slots and you are giving a pseudo 5th perk slot to killers by doing it.

I had a shower thought about this today actually. The idea would be that gens regress by either a set amount or at specific stages automatically and must be kicked to perpetually drop.

So, as an example say at 25%, 50%, and 75% the gen will stop regressing however once its kicked it regresses as normal. It could also always drop say 25%.This could help slow the game if tweaked right without it being completely one sided. A good trade off is for survivors to get a version of kindred where the killer is revealed if the victim maintains eye contact within the penalty radius of the hook.

Just a thought of course, it seemed cool to me.

  • Naw, you'd be shocked how many times I've just gone still and a killer has completely missed me. Like yeah I will bail when you start walking towards me but I've had so many killers stop, stare for a second then wander off and im home free.

  • I dunno i just started getting more posts from this forum in my phones news feed so I said ######### it and made an account.

  • In the majority of cases it means the killer is eye ######### you. Honestly its better to stick with that definition and assume its what it means. If they get mad explain it. If they still get mad they're probably mad at themselves and are acting like a baby so just ignore them.

I already said, I took SOME of your points and tried to answer those. Eg ‚The For side is unfairly pushing their anger at legitimate homophobes onto to people who are frustrated because...‘

regardless what comes after this, you are saying that the For side unfairly pushes anger towards non-homophobes because of the homophobes. My answer to that -as I am one of the For side- was that I never pushed any anger towards anyone.

you may say i took it out of context - and I admitted that already, I only answered some of your points- but the sentence you formulated there definitely was a generalization of the For side that I wanted to distance myself from. Nothing more. I also never tried to invalidate your complete post and mostly I agree with it..

[Your first point was also ‚the reality is that the majority of the people arguing have no issue with an LGBT character.‘ which is just an assumption from your side that’s not necesserily true]

I feel like part of the problem is you see my lack of specifics in quantity as a statement of mass accusation. That wasn't my intention in fact I tried to avoid using those words as much as I could. I do of course use them, and ultimately hoped that not using them would communicate a lack of attempt to guess haphazardly rather than a mass judgement. Fun fact I have a great deal of trouble expressing myself to people, typing doesn't make it better.

I'm not saying there are no legitimate homophobes, in fact I am saying the exact opposite. There are, and they act horribly, and it causes people to unfairly judge and over react to other people who aren't the same.

Everything after your second point in your first post has nothing to do with what I am talking about. I'm saying to listen to what they are saying and recognize what they are actually saying not what you feel like they are saying. Someone can be afraid of something without evidence. They are called irrational fears, and it's not just about balloons. Irrational fears aren't fixed by mockery, there fixed through patience and compassion. Which is what my post is advocating.

I'm not saying any of the arguments are correct, I am saying they speak to the worries and concerns they may feel to pressured and threatened to share, so they transfer it to another argument because they know revealing being vulnerable rarely amounts to anything but mockery. Simply recognizing that a lot of men feel isolated and alone and it's not all their fault can throw people into such a shitstorm of anger. Which more often than not is the problem. There are people who insist they stand for equality to shield themselves from acting like total monsters, say horrible things, and advocate terrible behaviour if not perpetuate it. And rarely will anyone stand up to them or call them out for being a ######### person. Instead people get ridiculed for acknowledging them, because they acknowledged being harassed.

Which is why were in this place... As well, you have to believe people are ultimately better. If you don't you are going to approach every situation with the wrong mentality. I mean if you don't, what is even the ######### point.

I'm going to bed... The long and short of this is it was never my intention to accuse you or make you feel accused. I feel like a lot of what I said didn't come through so I tried to elaborate more.

I am sorry, I did not try to answer everything you said in my post.

i just wanted to clarify some things that you said about both sides, such as the For side pushing their anger towards people that are not actually homophobes. You made some generalizations for both sides..

maybe I should have quoted the points from you that I answered directly but I thought that was clear enough. It was definitely not written with anger towards you or the ‚against‘ side and in the end I just -rationally- listed the most common arguments against inclusion and why they are holding no ground (but that one was obviously not directly for your post)

And I am saying by the content of your posts you do not seem to understand my statement. If you did, you'd understand why what you're saying doesn't make any sense. I'd be happy to talk about anything to help clarify it if you'd like.

Just wanted to clarify because I see myself as one of the ‚For‘ Side:

    • while the majority of the ‚Against’ side might not be homophobes, there are still enough homophobes out there and clearly also in this DbD community (I know this because I have seen the Twitter comments, but also on the forums, the mods do a good job of deleting banning those though)
    • I don’t push my anger towards anyone and almost always try to argue rational (except for some rare instances where I for example called someone snowflake for not wanting LGBT representation; that wasn’t out of anger but it was meant to be funny/ironic)
    • most people against inclusion may argue it’s because they don’t want it because of pandering, devs were forced to, devs may implement them poorly/tokenized, sexuality doesn’t have a place in a horror game but really, those are all empty arguments
    • we know they devs want to be inclusive and the recent Q&A shows they care about good representation
    • pandering is not very well defined at all and is only described as problematic when it revolves around LGBT
    • The horror genre especially the movies have always involved sexuality; DbD has a growing lore/backstory that already includes heterosexual relations; therefore LGBT+ clearly has a place here (only in the lore)
    • there are no arguments against inclusion left..

I'm sorry, but it appears you don't understand what I said. Please try to read what I said with a clear mind, empty of assumptions.

  • I wrote a big long thing. No one would have read it. Here are the spark notes, I mean this calmly.

-The reality is that the majority of the people arguing have no issue with an LGBT character.

-The issue lies with past harassment and unfair assumptions.

-The For side is unfairly pushing their anger at legitimate homophobes onto to people who are frustrated because...

-The Against side isn't actually against it but rather feel constantly attacked and harassed by people who outwardly identify with your arguments. They are unfairly projecting those feeling onto the very concept, when it's the ignorant sh1theads who hurt us that should be held accountable but...

-Because the For side rarely acknowledges or even advocates extremely pre-emptively hostile people. Whether you care or not a lot of people get pissed when you make blanket "the white men does this" comments. A lot of these people have to tolerate being treated like crap or being labeled as part of a hate group because of their appearance, even when outward behavior indicates the opposite. As much as you don't care or will ignore it happens, it happens, and it's really not uncommon. For example, how many people took that to mean "White men are oppressed" or "white men have it tougher". It doesn't by the by. It means belittling peoples problems and making gross assumptions about them is wrong, stop it.

-The problem then self perpetuates as both people are arguing at someone who isn't even there. I honestly want to believe that no one here wants to push people out, but rather would be fine with more. The problem is the infrequency of when those that do argue to push them out show up many of you stay silent, and it feels like passive approval. I mean this for both sides of the argument.

-People project their feelings of anger and resentment from real abusers onto people who have nothing to do with it, which makes those people more willing to listen to terrible ideas they might not have before.

The reality is we all need to stop. Cool down, and honestly really think of the subject and discuss with clear minds where the anger comes from.

    -We won't though.

Mori was not “nerfed into oblivion”. It’s still quite powerful. If you are struggling to get kills without a mori, that has nothing to do with balance, and instead, has to do with lack of skill (most of the time). Keys have been acknowledged, but will take much much longer since they need an entirely different mechanic.

Mori's have super been nerfed into the ground. They effectively do nothing.

Mori's were already an item I ignored, something I had to grab because a better item was behind it, but they were at least strong. A once every so often for shits and giggles thing.

Now they aren't even good for that. I was already dissapointed when they popped up and now I see them as literal bp locks to get the item behind it. I'd much rather they were either removed completely or downgraded to at the very least yellow status. Maybe they won't show up ever single web that way.

  • The mori's are useless to anyone who doesn't hard tunnel or camp. People who actually play killer know this. It's essentially a vanity offering that costs 7k and acts as a roadblock in the bloodweb or the booby prize in the random boxes.

Which is why I want mori's to just be removed, bp returned for any unused ones, and a bump to appearance rates for killer specific ultra/very rare add-ons.

  • @Mandy said:

I think we have different definitions of useless...by using a mori even after a second hooking you are still saving yourself the flashlight save attempts, pallet stun save attempts, firecracker save attempts, sabo save attempts, plus the survivor won't be able to body block a hook - nor do you lose a strategic hook as no survivor would have died on the hook so no permanent hook loss. That to me sounds far from useless.

Edited to add - not forgetting DS.

The issue is that all those situations are very rare unless you are up against a coordinated swf. When I play killer im paired against rank 1-8 survivors frequently despite being rank 14. Unless its a swf most survivors will either flee or buzz around like gnats so they can hook dive with bt and or ds.

Same with running out of hooks, its a non issue unless you are hard camping/tunneling or are against a coordinated swf.

Realistically mori's are practically useless, and its not just from a competitive aspect, its just a waste when I could use even the most garbage bp boost item and still come out ahead.

Which is why they should just get pulled and give us a bump to killer specific ultra rare drops. At the very least knock them down to 3k trash with all the other useless offerings.

With something like the ebony mori, it's really hard to find a middle ground. It's either terrible or OP, there's no other options lol.

The other option is removing them and refunding any unused mori's back to players.

Which is the better option. Would you rather pay five buck for a bag of dung or pay nothing and get nothing.

To be clear, I do consider just removing them and returning spent bp the middle ground. I'd much rather my trapper ultra rares replaced a worthless item a barely used before and will never use now.

  • Honestly I just think they should simply remove it at this point. They were already a thing I usually ignored in the bloodweb to begin with, now its something I have to actively avoid so I don't waste bp on something that doesn't really do anything. I have never been in a situation where just taking someone to the hook isn't a better option then getting stuck in an animation.

I just really hope they take them out of the game and refund players for any in their inventory. Rather than having a useless offering there to eat bp.

    Edit: There, their and they're
