As I am not aware of english profeciency in asia, especially with the many different countries. What would you guess the % of killers are capable of understanding a content creator like OtzDarva in order to learn. Also, while there is a ton of educational killer content creators, survivors don't have that many resources to learn from. Would that be the same over there?

The average English proficiency among Japanese people, myself included, is low.
Japanese people can probably understand content on YouTube if they use automatic translation. However, I think it's extremely difficult to understand things like Twitch streams.

But more than that, Japanese people know almost nothing about English-speaking Dead by Daylight creators. Even players who know about Otz probably don't make up even 30% of the total.
I think less than 10% of Japanese people discover videos by English-speaking players and can actually understand them.

This is my personal observation, but Korean players seem more competitive than Japanese players, and their average English proficiency is also higher. Among them, probably over 30% can understand English content.

While Killer guides aren't plentiful, Survivor guides are quite abundant. Survivors are significantly more popular in Asia. Typically, Killer wait times rarely exceed 50 seconds.

Well, I would counter with this question.

If Killer skills are, generally, underdeveloped and their best strategies are met with social stigma and not widely used, then how can we say Survivor skill is high?

As mentioned above, very little information is available about Wesker or Chucky, but I believe the skills of other killers are largely comparable. However, whether the average killer skill level in Asia is truly high or low remains unknown to anyone unless all servers are unified.

Incidentally, the high usage rates of wraith and selfcare stem from the fact that many killer players on Asian servers favor hit-and-run strategies. Players who persistently chase a single survivor are generally considered beginners. I believe this is another major difference between Asian servers and others.

  • There aren't many videos or guides in Japan that are useful for killer players. For example, Chucky was considered very low tier in Japan, and one reason for this was that various Chucky techniques were hardly known. (Another reason is that because selfcare usage is high, Hidey-Ho Mode wasn't very useful.)

Similarly, Wesker is currently considered quite low tier. The reason is the same: important techniques aren't widely known. These are often viewed in Japan as akin to bugs or glitches and don't spread widely. (Sharing such information often draws strong criticism.)

For these reasons, it's possible that killer players' techniques are underdeveloped.

Survivor play skill varies by player. However, on average, the skill level is somewhat high, while the number of extremely powerful players seems relatively low. (Of course, this is just my personal impression.)

I've noticed Asian Survivors aren't better at looping, they just stick to gens. There isn't really any altruistic play at all. Likewise, the Killers don't tunnel or camp.

Makes sense why the KR is lower. Killers aren't playing up to their potential and Survivors don't care about each other lol.

I'm very curious to know how often survivors give up on hook/disconnect early on in the game on the asia servers, if you could give me an idea.

Out of 10 matches, it happens maybe once or twice. Even when tunneling, camping, or slagging occurs, disconnects or “Go next” are rare, and most players don't give up. That's because these are seen as strategies and considered normal. I think this is a major difference in mindset between the Asia server and others. (This is not meant to imply one is better or worse than the other.)

  • For those interested in statistics:
These statistics cover the period from September 1, 2024, to August 31, 2025.
They pertain to regular matches, though those with low MMR have been excluded from the data.
(As noted in the disclaimer below the image.)

  • This statistical analysis revealed the most popular full-body outfits among the top 10 most-used killers.
However, these exclude standard outfits, Prestige rewards, and combinations of different outfit types.

While there is little difference, the most popular skins for Kate and Meg differ between Japan and the rest of the world.

    キラースキン.png suv.png
  • I am Japanese. Thank you for your interest. If you have any other translation assistance needs or questions about the Japanese play environment, I can answer them. (However, I'm not very good at English, so I'm using DeepL translation.)
The Killer usage rates for parks ranked 6th or lower are as follows:

    Japan
    6. Deadlock
    7. Corrupt Intervention
    8. Lethal Pursuer
    9. NOED
    10. Brutal Strength

    Worldwide
    6. Bamboozle
    7. Barbecue & Chilli
    8. deadlock
    9. Corrupt Intervention
    10. NOED

Matches with low MMR have been excluded from these statistics. The same applies to escape rates and killer usage rates.

  • This also occurs when animatronics enter doors or when Singularity uses cameras.

  • Oh, I hope it's just a bug.
I'll wait for the bug to be fixed. Until then, I'll play Survivor.

  • There is clear evidence that this is not “just a figment of the imagination” or “just bad luck.”This is my Blood Web. Fresh coffee is emerging from a mystery box at Berry Rare. This is a bug, as mystery boxes only reveal items of higher rarity.

    Untitled Image

There is no evidence of this, but it is very likely that the appearance of the Hinami umbrella and Taiyaki add-ons are also bugged.
Taiyaki are available in large numbers as if they were common add-ons. Hinami's umbrella also appears as often as the uncommon add-on.
Perhaps internally, fresh coffee is incorrectly set as a Very Rare add-on, Taiyaki as a Common add-on, and Hinami's Umbrella as an Uncommon add-on.

    bugg.png

Please check the number of your taiyaki and hinami umbrellas. You probably have more than a few.

  • This was still a bug. The coffee appeared from a Very Rare mystery box. The mystery box should only produce items of higher rarity, so the rarity of the coffee was incorrectly set to Very Rare or higher.

  • >Question 6 | True or False: Crouching use to recover Exhaustion faster.

I believe this was fixed in a patch a few years ago.I believe the recovery rate is the same now.

    https://deadbydaylight.fandom.com/wiki/Status_HUD/Exhausted

    >Patch 1.8.0

    • Nerf: removed the functionality of accelerated (+33 %) Exhaustion Recovery while crouching.
      • Exhaustion then recovered at the default rate while crouching.
  • It is no surprise that deathbound is being nerfed.
The slagging strategy rarely uses hooks. In other words, it was too strong as it was always triggered.

  • New deathbound promote very unhealthy play.
When used in a slugging build, it gives an oblivion effect every time you recover a downed survivor. And since there is no hook to use in this build, they remain permanently oblivious until the match is over.
This should not be implemented as is.

This may be a language barrier or mistranslation here, but it looks like you're saying there are few Survivors that ARE toxic. There are actually just as many toxic Survivors as there are toxic Killers, most Killers just want to play the game the same as Survivors. Killer toxicity comes from frustration with Survivors being toxic, and Survivor toxicity comes from frustration with Killers being toxic. If anything, the chance of seeing a toxic Survivor may be higher, because there are four times as many of them as Killers in a round. So while you see toxic Survivors more often, Killer toxicity feels worse because you can't do anything about it.

If that wasn't what you meant, I apologize. :)

Perhaps it is a language or cultural barrier. I thought it would be a little offensive to survivors if I said, “There are a lot of toxic survivors.” So I tried to keep it low-key so that it wouldn't be offensive. Yes, to be honest, there are many toxic survivors. Thank you for pointing that out.

it seems the problem is heightened in your region in Asia. The problem with this is play style is that killers will lose skill expression for map pressure using hooks - so if BHVR do change the game to make slugging weaker in the future, killers who rely on it will probably not be able to adapt and complain more.

I don't know what will happen, but perhaps people will adapt. Irruption used to be popular because irruption is strong. Now, slugging is in vogue because slugging is strong. If using hooks becomes stronger after this, using hooks may become fashionable. But some people may not be able to adapt. That is why BHVR should improve the current situation before those people get used to slagging.

Yes, I am a Japanese player. Considering the language of the developers, I think this forum is the best place to get their opinions.
But please don't misunderstand me. If I wasn't interested in this game, I'd quit this game silently. I enjoy this game and that is why I am giving my opinion to enjoy it more. Not because I want to attack the game or the developer.
I try to be as calm as possible, but I am sorry if I have offended you.

This has been the case on the American servers for years, and probably the EU ones too. It's unfortunately not new, it's just a consequence of the game changing slowly.

It's not "bad Killers", it's not problems BHVR created, it's none of that. No matter what anyone says, it's not ANY of that. It's the fact that this community has turned this simple little tag casual game with competitive elements, and made it into a super comp e-sport, and used that to create divisive us vs. them rhetoric, toxicity, and bred such distrust of the other side that it's entrenched now. The need to win on both sides outweighs the need to have fun, and despite what BHVR tries it's probably not going to go away quickly, if at all.

Unfortunately, people like the commenter above show EXACTLY this issue I am talking about. We see it on the forums every day. There is SO MUCH loathing of the other side simply wanting to play the game as intended, everyone goes "I don't like that the other side can win. Better sweat, because I want to win." Which then makes THAT side sweat, in this case, when slugging happens Survivors sweat more with stronger genrush perks, and that makes Killers not even slugging sweat even more. It's a vicious cycle and it will continue until we all funally agree to a ceasefire and just… stop trying to win so friggin' hard every. Single. Game.

BHVR can help by disincentivizing sweating for 4 man outs and 4ks. Reworking the emblem system. Making pips trivial so people feel like they are hitting a goal, but not having to GRIND for that goal by playing in an unfun way. Grades and Emblems need looking at again. BP gains across the board should be equal on both sides. And MMR gains and losses need to occur at a 1 to 1 rate, not this "you gain faster than you lose" crud that creates the very arguments people are having.

Yes, you are right, I feel that there are so many more players who want to win more than have fun.
With a very small percentage of toxic survivors, I sometimes put winning first to keep them from T-bagging.

The game is still healthy if the killer is best used to hook to win. However, if it is best to slagging it is quite unhealthy. I would like to see BHVR change that.
But your idea is also very good. If this game could be more casual and fun, there might not be so much slagging.

  • @kosaba11 said:

First, killers are already over powered, they don't need BBQ to be base kit. In fact, killers shouldn't even have aura reading perks.

Second, average killers are capable of killing survivors faster using hooks than slugging with ever be - put a survivor on hook three times, and they're dead, and that's if they don't give up. The only killers who think slugging is an okay thing to do are bad killers.

Third, hook placement is done is such a way where wiggling is useless. There is always a hook nearby, and even more so now that they respawn even after being used to kill a survivor.

Fourth, slugging has only become rampant because there's nothing to defend against it on the survivor's side, and bad killer are taking advantage of it. That's it - good killers don't need to slug.

First, whether the killer is too powerful is debatable, but that's not my point this time, I want to reduce the relative advantage of slagging by giving the advantage of using hooks. slagging is not a fun game to be the most effective tactic for winning. slagging is not a fun game to be in. it's not a fun game to be in. it's a game to be in.

Second, as you say, using hooks kills survivors faster. However, it is slagging that can apply pressure more quickly.
For example, Bamboozle, Brutal Strength, Spirit Fury, and Enduring perks can end a chase quickly, but many killers use Pop Goes the Weasel, Pain Resonance, and Surge. Why? Because it is more important to apply more pressure than to end the chase quickly, and the difference between slugging and hooking is about to become the same.

Third, wiggling is not essentially a system in which the survivor escapes the killer, but rather a system that prevents the killer from choosing the hook of his choice. It is the killer's natural right to use the nearest hook. However, some people choose slagging because of the risk of being thwarted by flashing lights, sabotage, etc. If you can waste flashlights, etc., then not using the hook is an excellent strategy. Yes, it's not fun, unfortunately.

Fourth, the fact that there is no way to prevent it means it is an extremely powerful tool. If even a weak killer is strong enough to use it, it stands to reason that a strong killer would be even stronger using it.

Of course, this is not a fight, but a discussion, so your opinion is also helpful. I respect it. Thank you very much.

  • If a survivor leaves the lobby, the number of generators required is reduced.
If the survivor continues to watch the game without exiting the lobby, the number of generators required will not be reduced.
This can be checked in the custom game.

  • Simply entering the locker before being attacked can nullify the knockout.

  • I can provide that video. It is a free chain from the time it is unhooked until the nair is ready to move.

You will most likely not always find the same ratios. The increase is very minor, so it should not be that noticeable. There is an increase, but it is not worth to prestige just for that higher chance.

If someone wants to do it, he/she should not prestige.
