  • survivor perks don't increase gen speed but killer regression perks work. can someone from BHVR explain this? makes no sense. event feels absolutely horrid on the survivor side.

  • idk if i'm just locked into high mmr or if the event is terribly killer sided but it's not fun at all

  • i don't know. i've played a lot of 7 days to die and don't think it has anything very interesting to offer DBD in terms of a cross-over. this is better for 7 days to die though in terms of getting more revenue to keep the updates flowing.

  • far too many games have one side being greatly outmatched by the other.

what's the point in playing a game where the entire team of survivors can't survive in chase for 5 seconds? every time i take a long break from this game is always after spending a day playing nothing but those types of games. or on the flipside, what's the point in playing against a killer that struggles to get a single hook all game?

where's the balance BHVR? i know there are restraints but this aint it.

Which Killers are you even talking about? If you’re playing Nurse, I might get it, or Blight in the open—but even Blight’s power is practically useless on indoor maps. It’s obvious you’re being matched with 'baby Survivors.' I, on the other hand, get matched against coordinated teams with headsets who know exactly how to split up, hide, and pull off every trick in the book."

"You’re either just lucky, or you’re clearly a Survivor main pretending to be a Killer. To say Killers have it easy when pro-Killer streamers are constantly pointing out how every nerf ruins characters—including Wesker, who’s been gutted, and Spirit, among others—is ridiculous. You’re either making things up or your MMR is so low that you’re playing against clueless survivors who wander around, ignore gens, and get slaughtered like chickens.

    You are a troll

the thing is i'm not a killer main, but i do play killer. and i'm getting those results without much effort or a great deal of experience (though i have been playing since 2016). and when i watch real killer mains play, the ones with thousands of hours in the role, they almost never lose games and you don't see survivor mains going on hundreds of winstreaks or thousands of winstreaks, but you see it from many killer mains.

  • killers have it pretty easy right now. if i had to describe what my matches are like as a killer it's:

60% of my matches are easy wins that require me just going through the motions

30% of my other matches are competitive and can go either way

10% of my matches are just too difficult

this results in a solid 75-80% kill rate

so the imbalance for me isn't in the 10% of unwinnable games, but the 60% of effortless games. and honestly this is what i don't enjoy about playing as killer - it's that those 60% of matches that i stomp aren't rewarding or fun.

  • i mean there are examples where you can say, "this killer, playing at a high level is very difficult." i won't argue against that.

but even still, you can still say "this killer, played poorly, still has a higher kill rate than the escape rates of most of the survivors in the game."

that's the crux of these arguments.

further, i have almost an 80% kill rate across the board on every killer in the game. i'd also say i'm not a good killer. i'd also say i get easily dumpstered on by good teams. and most of the games i play as a killer DON'T FEEL MEANINGFUL because they are so easy. it's like 3 out of every 4 games i play require very little effort on my end to perform well. but then i can randomly get dumpstered by a good team of survivors and that feels really bad. and i might feel like there was nothing i could do, because their team was too efficient, too good at looping, used all their resources well. they easily destroy me. okay, and then the matchmaking gives me "3 easy games" where i kill everyone. then i go into another game and get dumpstered on by a good team again. this is what i'd argue actually feels bad about the game right now. games are too one sided. it's like the game is either too easy and unrewarding, or you just get straight destroyed by much better players.

    first off

Why the hell does Vecna, Freddy and Sadako have such a high killrate??
I rarely see them and there so easy to counter how the hell are they more deadly than Billy and nurse?

people really underestimate the value of map presence

  • i mean the developer could make the loops actually worth looping again but then you'll have people complain about that

  • so uh..

based on the language they've used when talking about kill rates and stats.. i can only conclude that they are perfectly happy having killers with 70% kill rates just so long as the average kill rate for all killers is close to 60%. and this seems to be the case. i think vecna had the 2nd highest kill rate in the game and then they gave him a massive buff.

  • dude the next map is gonna blow. just look at the walking dead map. it's a map with a bunch of rocks, a piss filter for "uniqueness" i guess, and a unique building that may as well the most disappointing IP-centric thing they've added to the game. like this company doesn't know how to do maps.

  • he takes skill but he's very forgiving with how often he can spam his power. and honestly, a killer that already gets to mostly ignore vaults/pallets and normal game flow should probably be less forgiving. unfortunately though we're in the era of the ghoul and new myers where killers aren't really expected to have a high level of skill expression anymore.

  • i've been watching onepumpwillie play him. he's on a 240+ winstreak currently and uses monitor and abuse with coulrophobia and a nurse's calling. his strategy is to slug and his perks help him get easy hits on survivors trying to revive their downed teammates.

  • artistically i like her but her kit is the worst designed in the game. you think of other poorly designed kits like trickster, twins, skull merchant; krasue is leagues worse than all of them. she needs a rework/redesign moreso than any other killer in the game.

  • my favorite killer to play against will probably always be huntress but i think he's not far behind. i do worry about what it will be like playing against players that have mastered him however. he might be really unfun to play against if a player can land the majority of his attacks successfully.

  • pretty sure the matchmaking system tries to force the 40/60% escape/kill ratios at this point. matches are too unbalanced, always one side stomping the other. i think at some point a few years ago i would have said 30% of my matches felt balanced but now it feels like 10%.

  • it's killer sided. game is balanced so killers have a 60% average kill rate (although many are actually closer to 65-70%). competent killers easily win >90% of their games no matter what killer they're playing as. i don't consider myself a good killer and have a >75% kill rate on every killer in the game.

if your argument is that it's SWF sided that's just not true. we know that only 10% of players play in SWFs. we also know that even high mmr SWFs on average have an escape rates below 50%. thus the argument that the game is SWF sided falls flat when you're really only talking about a very small number of overall players being able to outperform the odds.

  • Survivors gave up OTR, Styptic and Syringe for 5 seconds of extra anti-tunnel. Kind of hilarious honestly.

  • vote for old sable

  • this post is framed in a way that reminded me of when twitter accidentally revealed account locations and certain political accounts were shown to be from foreign countries. obviously op is a killer pretending to be a survivor lol

I check nightlight for the kill rates because since some of the people I watch that talk about the game use the site since dbd doesn't like giving us helpful stats that would actually tell us needed info

nitelight stats aren't accurate. don't take my word for it; bhvr even commented saying they aren't not long ago.

  • @big_boss said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/462379/so-still-no-ghoul-changes-huh

He has a lower kill rate then blight does and he isnt even at 60% so why would you nurf a killer that already sucks. He gets one free hit sometimes and thats it, he still has to chase you around.

    1. blight is the strongest killer in the game; exceeding nurse
    2. they haven't actually released any updated kill rates/escape rates since ghoul was released; the last official stats drop came in april, ghoul released in april.
  • should shame the devs for poor game design that results in such ridiculous discussions. you'll never see this complaint about 2v8 because they fixed the design issue there.

  • sure, but only if hard nerfs come to nurse blight and ghoul

  • if they don't want us using them they should just remove them from the game. just extra bloat of useless junk in chests and the bloodweb.

and by the way with the removal of the old styptic and syringe the survivor bloodweb is in its weakest state in the game's history. i don't spend bp on survivor anymore, no point to.

  • mmr is not as meaningful as people think it is. you escape a few games and suddenly you're put into matches with survivors who can't survive for 5 seconds in chase against all the 10,000 hour killers in the game. and if you lose a few of those games you suddenly get put into matches with the 10,000 hour survivors and low skill killers who struggle to get a single hook all game. this is the mmr system and it's a joke honestly.

further, your rating is literally only based on the performance of your last dozen or so games. your mmr is therefore not mysterious at all.

  • too much questionable stuff happened this last year ngl. it looks really bad once you start thinking about it all together

    1. why is the official stats page still counting abandons as disconnects? all abandons need to retro-actively be converted to deaths otherwise all the stats are useless. the abandon feature also just needs an overhaul in general
    2. why release the fog vial then nerf it to the point that no one uses it? now the bloodweb is mostly junk.
    3. maybe they should have asked the community if 5 seconds of anti-tunnel was acceptable in exchange for survivors losing syringe, styptic and off the record; its made the game more boring honestly
    4. cancelling the anti-slug update was a bold decision after promoting it for so long and nerfing tenacity while they "figured things out" upset a lot of people
    5. S tier killers that require skill may be acceptable, but S tier killers that require no skill are not (Ghoul)
    6. turning a killer known for intense stalking (myers) into a dasher before losing the IP is a head scratcher
    7. walking dead "map" is uh.. extremely disappointing
    8. meta has gotten to stale that this has almost stopped feeling like a live service game
    9. pallet density update made very little sense; so many loops are unsafe now that they're just promoting hold w gameplay
  • i got banned for a month for daring to mention their very generic names. they still do it for hours on end continuously every single day. the one time they stayed in a match they were afk the entire time.

  • multiple non-steam players in a lobby. its almost always going to be a bad match. it's like the punishment matches you get for escaping like oh i escaped the previous 2 matches, now all the people i get matched with are console players who aren't even bringing items. lobby dodging doesn't even seem to help, you just keep getting paired with console players until you finally give up and enter the match only to predictably be facing the 10k hour pc blight with console survivors that can't survive 5 seconds in chase. and it's unfortunate because it makes me play worse because i end up bringing clairvoyance or something to at least give me a chance to escape once every else is dead.

LOL BRUH KILLERS are nerfed enough.

why people act like killers are weak when they're not? like good players can win almost every single match playing killer. then we have people come in here and flippantly act like they're weak or something. just complete nonsense ngl

  • so many loops have been shortened, broken and diced up that it's kinda comical to say this

  • i mean.. if another survivor spams the wave animation at your butt are you also going to call that out in the same way or only when the killer does it?

  • for survivors.. good cosmetics and nothing annoying about their screams/grunts (i'd like lara but i hate her grunts, i'd like rick/darryl but i hate their screams).

for killers.. high skill ceiling + diversity in playstyle

  • <stares at a survivor for 2 seconds>

<forces survivors to pre-drop every pallet on the map for the next 60 seconds>

it's just obnoxious to play against but that's the state of the game

  • i think DND Vecna is supposed to be a God so i assume he should be able to.

i also assume he's only participating in DBD because he was bored completely and utterly dominating his own universe.

I will get another load of downvotes for stating it, but still here it is: because you can find lobby in a few seconds for one role. In games like deadlock, with more rigid matchmaking, it can take up to 20 minutes to find a game of your rank. So it's pick your poison situation, and I'm sure you will be more mad if you have to wait longer for a "better" match, because there are only so many players of your skill level that are queuing at the same time with you in your region.

The main thing that should be changed is making it actually skill based, and not escape based, or reverting it back to rank-based, but the problem will stay the same (e.g. rainbow ranks from the past)

i mean i refuse to believe that the difference in preventing a 10,000 hour player from playing with a player with 100 hours takes us from insta-queue to 30 minute queue. now i know that's not what you're saying, but it is the argument you've made. lol

  • i want to know why i was put into each game. like why am i put into a game with a 10,000 hour p100 nurse who claims to be a comp player when i'm queuing with my friend who has less than 100 hours in the game. like i'd want commentary on what part of the matchmaking algorithm thought that made any sense.

  • nurse, blight, ghoul and SWFs. things the game could do without. maybe they could just make a special queue for everyone not committed to poisoning the game.

  • doubt they'll nerf him. he's their "S tier power with no skill requirement" killer that is behind a paywall.

  • if we're honest.

Ghoul is a pay to win killer.

Blight and Nurse may be stronger

but Ghoul is S tier and extremely easy to play

In the past I've argued against DBD being pay to win; many times actually. But I believe due to his ease of use and overall strength he must be considered pay to win.

  • @Royval said:

what does Kaneki get in return for these nerfs?

survivors don't leave the game when they hear his terror radius

  • they should probably just delete items from the game, maybe have survivors start the game injured or in the dying state, maybe just remove the exit gates too so they can't even escape. lol

  • i no longer think we need to get rid of tunneling. rather, we need to give survivors a reason to continue participating in the game once someone has been killed. currently, if killers can remove someone from the game early then they essentially kill the entire team by default. if this is no longer the case then tunneling becomes less of an issue.

  • you get way more skill checks using a toolbox. so bring a big toolbox with all the charge addons and use the perk Built to Last. Pump your big toolbox several times into some generators and you should easily get 20 skill checks. Hyperfocus+Stakeout would make it even easier.

  • i mean it's literally the only item in the entire survivor bloodweb worth farming anymore. kind of a joke what they've done to the survivor bloodweb ngl, not even worth spending points on it anymore.

  • you could just have players post screenshots of their most played killers from the dbdstats website. i pump so much bp into my killers despite mostly playing survivor so prestige isn't relevant

  • basically you probably escaped one or twice so the game is gonna now force you to play against like 20 blights, nurses and ghouls to counter-balance that.

  • me playing duo with my friend who is still new to the game: first match against a 10,000 hour nurse comp player.

completely made me realize how toast the matchmaking really is

They're cheese tactics. Tunneling/slugging/camping take a few hours to "master". Running a killer for 2-3 gens takes far, far more skill from the survivor than any killer needs to secure a 3-4K.

that's a great point. telling a survivor to potentially gain thousands of hours of experience in the game verse a tactic that any new player can pick up after a few games is peak dbd logic.

  • krasue needs a full redesign more than any other killer in the game. like there are stronger killers, there are more frustrating killers, but krasue's kit feels like it just doesn't make sense anymore after the most recent nerf.
