i don't blame survivors for disconnecting. unless they do it mid or late match n screw everyone over during a hard fought match. if you're gonna d/c, do it early.
-
to me the fix for dbd is simple:
revert the game back to pre 6.1 update
this will solve 90% of the games current problems
we'll be back to survivors complaining about nurse and blight, and killers complaining about dead hard. the good ol' days.
-
i mostly play solo queue and before 6.1 it was easy. all you had to do was spend some time on a gen, take the killer on at least one good chase, and make a hook save or two. maybe you don't pip without the escape, or maybe you do. but unless you were tunneled out of the game early you're not going to depip.
now it just seems incredibly frustrating to get anywhere because more often than not someone dcs or suicides on hook early. killers chase less and chases are generally much shorter regardless. chases are more difficult, generators take longer, killers camp+tunnel extensively, survivors constantly dcing, all of that means not only is it harder to pip but you're actually more likely to depip due to things out of your control.
-
The screwed up thing is that camping used to be an INEFFECTIVE strategy. it was toxic because if you spent too much time at a hook you lost the game.
Now, unless you're playing against a SWF with full gen-based build you don't have to leave the hook. You just get your first down, you stay near the hook, that survivor either dies on the hook (and in many cases disconnects from the game) or you get a free down from the first survivor who goes for the save.
Tunneling just becomes an extension of this strategy.
When killers have to pressure gens (or lose the game) suddenly they camp less, which means they tunnel less. Killers need to naturally be pressured, or else the game devolves into what they are good at - which is camping a downed or hooked survivor.
-
they'll never fix camping. its been over 6 years since the game launched and they haven't done anything about it. why 6 years later would they try? likely they'll add some perks you can buy that will only make camping slightly less effective (while simultaneously releasing killers and perks that actually make camping easier).
-
it's okay there's likely enough knights hook camping that they'll get at least a few kills. at least how most of my games have been.
-
pentimento is amazing against teams you likely would have won against anyway. that's the problem with it. not good against good teams, great against bad teams.
-
honestly, i don't even want to spend bloodpoints anymore because of how long it takes. like i kind of value my time.
-
this is 100% my view.
look at the facts:
Solo queue is far worse now than it was before. It was already the weakest way to play the game and it got worse.
The strongest killers in the game like nurse and blight got far stronger.
Annoying killers like legion and plague got far more annoying.
Build diversity for survivor was lost and there's a lot of confusion on what to actually bring. Do you bring Off the Record because no one brings Borrowed Time, or do you bring Borrowed Time to help your team and yet get screwed the moment the killer decides to tunnel you off hook?
Perks that were perfectly fine like self-care and spinechill were hard nerfed because the devs stated they saw survivors having a "slight edge" in performance when using them at high ranks. Like, what?
The game feels like it took a huge step back and it's simply not worth playing anymore which is a shame because I love this game.
-
strong killers are even stronger.
tunneling and camping are even stronger.
many annoying thana builds and bugged regression builds.
solo queue survivor is far worse now than it was before. (its always been the weakest in the game)
honestly, i'm not sure how the game got better unless you just like to play killer and stomp games.
-
in the former state of the game i would agree. the current state of the game however is trash and should be treated as trash.
-
the scary thing about nurse is that while all these mind games do exist the real threat comes from her perks. when survivors don't know you can see them and they can't see you then they really have no defenses. it doesn't matter how good they are. when hex:retribution/haunted ground go off at the same time they're going down. when they start healing and nurses calling activates and they can't see you; they're going down. when scourge hook: floods of rage activates and they're safely running somewhere you shouldn't normally see; they're going down. there are no mind games here, it's all up to the nurse to make the right blink and the good ones will 9 times /10.
-
so i only play killer/survivor until i hit rank 1 on both of them each month. when i play as killer an effective strategy to double pip is to always secure the maximum number of hooks and get 4 kills. to do this it helps to slug (especially the last 2 survivors) to avoid any hatch escapes. not sure why you'd need to slug more than two at 5 gen; seems like bad killer or trolling.
-
honestly, i'm not sure how you can play nurse/blight on console (controller?). that just seems incredibly difficult. that being said those are the only 2 killers that lower my blood pressure when i play them. i hate the normal chase design and they (especially nurse) help escape it.
-
when i play killer i play competitively
when i play survivor i play casually
-
when i play killer i often wonder, "when does the fun start?"
sure, it can be fun to have someone run into a trap or to get a nice hit with a hatchet but what about the other 99% of the time when you're just stuck running the same loop you've run a million times that you know will just end in a dropped pallet and then onto the next loop which will just end in a dropped pallet, and then 2 gens pop and maybe you get a hook (or not, maybe you're blinded, body blocked, sabotaged and all that time was wasted and against good survivors the time lost from a single event like this will lose you the game).
in theory perks like plaything should add a lot of fun to a game but good survivors just ignore it. rush gens, laugh at killers futile efforts (unless they are a strong nurse or blight), and teabag your way out of the exit gates and then harass them in end game chat for thinking they even had a chance.
-
honestly, SWF would likely be more fun to both play and play against if it played by a different set of rules than solo queue. for example, what if perks were made unique so only one instance of each perk could be used by the group. or make this optional for SWF groups but they get a BP boost if they use this option. Similarly, let killers decide if they want to match against SWF groups or not, but let them get a BP boost for doing so.

i've been running onryo with bbq + make your choice + nurses calling and corrupt intervention. took me to rank 1 with all games being double pip or close to it. she has so much map presence that with the right addons (bloody fingernails) you can guarantee the first hit on projection and if you can't down them soon just project to another gen, hit, project to another gen, hit, and eventually you'll catch them healing with nurses calling which i think is the best addon with her because literally nowhere on the map is safe when she's projecting everywhere and staying stealthy when she's not.

Watch CoconutRTS he is like a huntress god with 7000 hours playtime and he is getting destroyed by survivors and complains about everything I said too . They don't get any better than him as a killer but still the game is survivor sided even if you're a pro killer...
the thing about huntress is that she's 100% mind-gameable unless you're playing on an open map. she walks slow. falls victim to respecting pallets. thinks she can get free hits but doesn't anticipate a crouch or the survivor stutter stopping at the last moment. of course, you throw in DH and it might be too much but i don't think many survivors ever complained about huntress being strong. she's probably the funnest killer in the game to go against honestly.
-
sometimes you just need to play more. you might be doing something wrong or inefficient or not anticipating mind games/reacting the right way. i'm one of those survivors with many thousands of hours and don't believe i need dead hard to play well. this really isn't the issue. there are over 100 survivor perks in the game and a good survivor doesn't need any of them to do well (unless we're talking about going against all star blights/nurses).
-
my experience is this: every 20 games i get 10 games with bad teammates/strong killer, and then i get 10 games with good teammates/weak killer. i don't know if this is due to mmr or some aspect of matchmaking but it seems to be a fairly consistent pattern. so even if you get a bad team or go against some all-star blight/nurse just load into the next game but bring a positive attitude and try to have fun and improve as a player.

i wouldn't worry about using NOED. i mean, i have 4000 hours into this game. i expect NOED. sometimes it kills me, sometimes it doesn't. i don't really consider a game lost if NOED is the reason i die. the only thing i don't like are all-star nurse/blights and scourge hook: pain resonance. literally every other aspect of the game can be tolerated, including NOED. good survivors will keep an eye out for totem locations as they run around the map even if they don't cleanse them and if NOED activates they won't usually have much difficulty cleansing the totem. it's part of the game anyway. by running NOED you handicapped yourself for the main part of the game so you deserve a spike boost if survivors didn't cleanse or know totem locations.
