  • If you're concerned with post game chat toxicity, you may just block survivors in pregame lobby. So you won't see any messages they send you after the game.

And Dead by Daylight is most enjoyable when you try playing different killers, not caring what others think.

  • "Camping/tunneling is toxic"

  • @[Deleted User] said:

Spirit is a top tier killer, so it's going to draw more ire than any other killer. That doesn't make it okay, but that is just truth.

Your options are basically the following:

    • Disable chat and leave it turned off.
    • Leave it on, and just ignore it but file a report for people saying things like this. (ᵀʰᵒᵘᵍʰ, ᴵ ᵈᵒⁿ'ᵗ ᵗʰᶦⁿᵏ ᴮᴴⱽᴿ ᵈᵒᵉˢ ᵐᵘᶜʰ ᵃᵇᵒᵘᵗ ᶦᵗ ᵘⁿˡᵉˢˢ ᵗʰᵉʸ ᵏᵉᵉᵖ ᵃᶜᵗᶦⁿᵍ ˡᶦᵏᵉ ᵗʰᵃᵗ ᵒⁿ ᵃ ʳᵉᵍᵘˡᵃʳ ᵇᵃˢᶦˢ ᵗᵇʰ)

That's about it. I mean there are people trashing on trapper and wraith players on the forum here right now, people are going to give you talk like that no matter what. Just play what you want, turn off chat.

TBH they should make it an option to disable it in options; and show a mute/deaf icon next to your name in the post and pre game lobby. They insist what they do is enough; but BHVR doesn't understand human nature very well and that people are going to constantly feel the need to toggle it, or to reply, and so on....and having an option you can't change in the lobby itself would help a TREMENDOUS amount with toxic related problems in this game.

It's why I love console players so much. We can't say anything to each other, that's how I like it.

It’s a very good idea. Option to disable chat would lessen toxicity by much.

Also, maybe postgame chat should be disabled by default, so that new killer players wouldn’t be shocked and discouraged with what they get to read after their first matches.

  • Teabagging is toxic, by doing so in the exit gates survivors send a signal that the killer failed his objective and couldn't get them. It's just another way to say the killer is bad. If they just wanted to waste the killer's time, they could just walk or stand there. In many cases they teabag when everyone has left and they could just leave too. Some people might not realize what exactly they are doing, but they instinctively want to brag how they outplayed the killer and how better they are at the game.

Hook smacking is a similar thing a killer can do. Killer outplays a survivor, hooks him and keeps hitting, so that the defeated survivor feels even worse.

Not sure either of these qualifies as bullying, it depends on how to define bullying, but these are not nice behaviours at all, which are meant to upset the other side. And, apparently, upsetting someone else is considered fun, that's why it is done.

    Noed Doesnt :)

    DBD players

Agree. Many survivors also escape undeserved and think that they are good players.

NOED is a good perk, especially given that new killer players can be matched with much more experienced survivors and all gens can be done in 5 minutes. With NOED there's at least a chance for an inexperienced or unlucky killer player to turn things around.

  • Sometimes it seems that some aspects of the game were specifically designed to be frustrating. Playing survivors is meant to be frustrating cause your character gets beaten up most the game, while playing killer is meant to be frustrating because of some game mechanics (kobe, hatch) or survivors perks that can nullify your efforts to win. And post game chat on top of that, which is mainly used for insults and complaints as if something else can be expected in a game with so many elements of frustration.

  • Dead Hard, it is extremely annoying.

    Wouldn't remove any killer perk.

  • I think there should be an option for the killer to just give up or disconnect in such cases without penalty. Unlike with survivors disconnects, killer is playing alone and by giving up he's not breaking the game for his team.

Im actually a survivor main but sometimes I play killer for fun and for rift challenges.

When I play killer I play bad, but I dont tunnel or camp or slug and I use fun builds and bad perks. Because I enjoy the game and I dont care to win.

But half of end game chats there are always survivors complaining about me, insulting me for nothing... tell me horrible things I cant write here.... I always report this kind of players but I still saw end game chats like this.

Ive never seen a killer fair like me. I know that Im loosing but I still dont camp and ran away from hooks to practice chases and get better.

Survivors are escaping and still insults me in end game chat. They calling me a tunneler but everyone have been hooked twice...

I know the most popular opinion is that killers are toxic etc but its wrong survivors players are way more and insults killers for nothing.

Its very sad because this game is very fun but players are just trash people, sorry to say that...

I just want to say : Behaviour please do your job and ban players like this from the game. They are very hurtful for free, with no reason. There are games rules but they dont care because they are not banned and still in this game.

I just start to think that killer is the bad role and whatever your gameplay, kind or toxic, survivors just like to insult killers because they are the bad role.

What I noticed is that the better you play, the less toxic survivors are. If you confidently win, then, of course, they may still complain and insult, but to lesser extent. Killer is a more demanding role, so if you're not playing good and trying to be nice, then you may end up being disappointed with both losing and getting insulted in chat.

I was also confused on why do some survivors insult, when they played good and all escaped? Probably, it's something in human nature, some people enjoy piling on someone else's misery. If there was no misery and you destroyed them in game, there will be nothing they could pile on.

  • Hillbilly. It’s hard to hit with a saw, but even if a manage to, it still does not feel satisfying. And similar killers, Blight and Oni, are more fun and enjoyable to play as.

  • I think it would be better if strong Freddy players were matched with stronger survivors. Given that better matchmaking is going to be implemented, then killers playing Freddy will have to face strong survivors, and it looks it would be balanced fine then. I don't believe that even strong swf teams or very experienced solos are having many problems countering Freddy's powers. People say that Freddy is braindead, but it's not always like that. Killer player needs to predict where to teleport (and waste much time in case he teleports to a wrong gen), needs to know how to position snares properly, and survivors can wake each other up.

But anyways, it seems the decision is already made and this killer will be changed. Hopefully, the changes will not only make him weaker, but also he will remain as viable to killer players as he is now.

  • I played solo recently, also with lower rank players, and I always got unhooked. I used Kindred. Why wouldn’t green rank survivors unhook other solo players? Unhooking is not hard and points are given for it.

  • I was playing Hag with the Rusty Shackles addon for a week. It was a very enjoyable experience with trapping gens and grabbins survivors. No need to run around loops and waste so much time. It's nice to have Hag with such gameplay in case you become tired of repetitive chases.

  • I think it's a very good idea.

Many people claim they lost to swf, with this feature it would be clear if it is true.

As for chat toxicity, it is already very toxic, I don't think it can get worse. And in any case, swf survivors won't suffer from toxicity same as killers do, 2+ people can definitely talk back.

  • Haddonfield. It is very hard to track survivors after they vault windows there.

  • Wide variety of killers. I really like doing the same objective using different powers. I tried all killers, and each one of them has something special. It’s even hard to pick one to master, I like gameplay of so many of them.

  • I agree with OP. Killer can do everything correctly, but gets robbed of a deserved hit just because a survivor pressed a key. It’s very annoying to deal with (unlike other exhaustion perks) and has no counter play when done before a pallet or window.

  • Yes, I think for many people it is important to win. If someone dedicates much time to the game, then it's not surprise that they want to win consistently.

Since the original post refers to sweating by killlers, it also needs to be noted that survivors are not less sweaty. And a survivor letting killer sacrifice him (out of pity, because killer is having a bad game) is much less common than killers giving hatches. And giving hatch and then seeing that this survivor had meta perks such as DS or DH may be a little disappointing as it is an indication that is this survivor might be really sweaty himself.

  • I wish Blight's fov will be changed somehow.

From my experience, and I played him for 30 matches in several days, it can be pretty annoying to lose a survivor after hitting basic attack. Sometimes I'm just going after a survivor and lose him for no apparent reason. With Blight's current fov, it seems that scratch marks are not visible as good as with other killers. Especially it's hard to see scratch marks in tall grass.

It would have been understandable if such fov was drawback when using Rush, but having such fov for the entire match, no matter you use Rush or not, seems unreasonable to me.

    Hi all,

A little background first: I play both killer and survivor about 50/50 and generally find killer more stressful but more fun. I play at red ranks in both but generally believe that I am not a red rank player, more like purple. I have 400 hours in game collectively.

Tonight I had a killer match on myers where I anticipated a swf group from looking at the lobby and sure enough it was. As a consequence I used a ebony mori offering for "insursnce". Unfortunately, I had a terrible match and only downed one survivor-######### happens.

At the end of the match with gates powered I downed another survivor and camped the hook, even though they unhooked and all three got away, too bad for me. I do not camp hooks otherwise.

Needless to say my treatment afterwords was some of the worst I have experienced in game so far. Comments like "your mom this or that", "terrible killer", "should not be rank 1", "you are toxic for camping", among other nasty personal comments. I know some of you will say that this is standard but I always say "ggwp" no matter what happens.

I can now conclude, from my perspective, that survivors are generally more toxic than killers and I'm sorry we have these people in our community.

Thanks for the opportunity to decompress.

I agree with you. The game design allows mori and camping, while post game chat toxicity is rather something personal and shouldn't be part of the game.

From my experience, survivors are much more toxic when it comes to post game communication. That's probably because they feel more powerful since there're 4 of them vs 1 killer.

To avoid survivors post game toxicity, I think there should be at least an option to disable chat on the killer's side, also survivors should see a notice that the killer disabled chat for himself and won't read those messages. I believe this was they'll be discouraged from writing those toxic messages.

  • It's diffucult to understand why camping/tunneling and t-bagging are compared. I think these are not similar. Camping and tunneling do not show intention to ruin someone's game, rather to secure a win in the match. I don't think it's common for killers to do that just for the reason they don't like certain survivor, it's done because killers want to win, and they think camping and tunneling helps. T-bagging during the game seems to be done to annoy the killer, make him follow a survivor, it's done by good loopers who can waste much of the killer's time. So it's sort of a mind game, although it does not help if killer does not fall for it. In the exit gate t-bagging does not help in any way, it is done just to irritate the killer.

T-bagging during the game can rather be compared to hook smacking. Hook smacking might be done on purpose to irritate survivor, force him try to kobe, then not struggle and die asap.

  • I think postgame chat should be removed. I get tilted after receiving those insults. Also i feel i have to respond, so i start wishing them same things they wish me. It's just waste of time and I don't understand why this has to be part of the game. Hiding chat is not a good option. Some people will still be insulting, asserting themselves and thinking you're just afraid to respond.

But most likely it won't get removed as people don't request this and even ask to add chat to console.

hi im a killer main with 1800 hours and 7.5k kills

if you use noed your a trash killer unless you literally have no better perks or you are learning a killer like nurse and you know you will loss.

Even when i play wraith or trapper i don't use noed because while the perk is balanced and imo fine as it is using it is yourself expecting to loss so therefore unless you're new to the weak or hard killer or have absolute horrible perks you are trash for using it.

edit: of course the same goes for players running DS+UB you're actually worse than a boosted killer running noed.

Following this logic, if a killer knows that he might lose, then it is a trash killer? Like, good killers think that they never lose? But I think everyone can lose and having NOED for the end game just becalms a little.
