Ohhh yeah, MW2 and halo were my childhood and I’ve been playing forever, even had time logged in on the OG Xbox 😎 that’s what I mean by I don’t expect it to stop by any means, I just don’t recollect getting personalized hatemail multiple times a day 😅 but maybe I was young and naive 😂

Right...lol only if I’m mad, and I don’t do it for the entity, I do it for me. Call it killer self-care

My idea is for the post game chat to have filters, but not any kind of filters
For example
#########/#########! = my parents never hugged me when i was a little kid
N-word = Mom said no more videogames because its late, i am so mad!
F**got = I hope my parents never realize i am gay.
Etc.
It would be a fun way to deal with toxic post game comments.
Honestly tho that sentiment is too true lol. I’ve had plenty of interactions where I felt more so bad for a person than mad. You can tell just by how they talk.

To be honest, all you have to do is read through the forums to see that toxicity will probably always be ingrained in this game.
On one side, you have your "I'm not responsible for your fun, my job is to kill you" people who apparently have no sympathy/empathy or sense of sportsmanship. If they're not getting 4ks, then killers aren't strong enough. Take looping out of the game (I burst out laughing when I saw that post). There should only be 2 pallets and 1 window per map (I'm exaggerating, but I bet there's someone in this forum who has said something crazy like that). SWF is broken.
On the other side, you have people who want to nerf BBQ (it's really not that hard to counter guys). If I don't escape every game, I'm upset. Pre-nerfed MoM was perfectly fine (I was indifferent to it and it didn't bother me but I understood the frustration with it), And just general lack of sympathy/empathy for GENUINE killer concerns.
So any time a survivor main brings up an issue they have, the post gets flooded by killer mains (which seems to be most of this forum?) saying "get over it. get good. you probably just suck. etc"
AND
Any time a killer main comes through with an issue, the survivor mains comes through with the same thing.
It seems that very few people here actually play both sides and attempt to see things from both perspectives, and tbh I don't think people in here even make an ATTEMPT to see something from other perspectives.
I think that’s a huge component that I couldn’t agree more with. I play both sides, and I have friends who only play one of either side, and talking to them feels like they’re both playing completely different games. I had a game where I 3k’d with no gens completed, and the dude that escaped with a key said I got carried by bbq (get this - he had 40+ days of playtime and no kills). I hear more ridiculous ideas from the survivor side but I think that’s just due to increased exposure. I’ve had killers who tell me (on console) that billy is the only viable killer at purple ranks and above just because they couldn’t play the other killers well enough. So he wanted all of them to be buffed to the heavens. I guess that’s the main component, in most other games everyone is using the same basic mechanics, and has that common ground. Here that isn’t there unless you play both sides (which you should) and no one seems to be able to put themselves in someone else’s shoes. Which then leaves the question how do you fix that, or better, can you even fix that? You can’t force people to play both sides, but you shouldn’t have to be worried about “does this person have basic empathy/investigative skills”. Too many people revolve into shouting at each other (boy is that a trend), even tho I have a friend who is kind to everyone and has like 500 Xbox friends because they treat people with respect and patience. Maybe the best we can do is to encourage each other to be reasonable through our actions and words. It won’t prevent the problems from occurring, but it will help stop them from devolving. This game is dope af, even with its flaws, and I’ve met too many good people/players to think that hatemail should be seen as part of the experience.

I think as someone with a lot of experience who’s played for awhile, it’s easy to forget what it was like in the beginning. I started playing as soon as it came out on Xbox, so I ranked up before it was such a recurring problem. Dbd really needs to incentivize ranking up so higher skilled players don’t bully new ones, as that is a huge problem. Regarding the camping and tunneling tho, you seem to be on the right track. If someone’s being camped, honestly, rush tf outta the gens. At a high enough skill level everyone can escape before the first dude dies. You gotta figure that most campers do it because it has worked for them in the past. Break that cycle. Force them to change. Tunneling is a bit less annoying in my opinion, but relies more on the survivor playing. People unhooking can run bt, or you can run ds. I’ve also played games before where my teammates and I have forced the killer to hook us in rotations, giving us more time. If you want an unpopular opinion: play with swf. I play killer, it can suck, but it at least encourages play and makes strategizing/coordinating much easier. If you just wanna mess around and don’t wanna try for any of that, play the numbers game, not every killer camps and tunnels, tho bad experiences stick out in our minds more than good. If you’re new and need help, watch streams or ask experienced players. I know I’m always willing to try and assist so we can all have some fun.

Strangely enough I’m awful playing as, and going against, the Clown. Idk what it is, maybe he’s too thiccc for me to comprehend, but he’s the bane of my existence on either side. I play on console, and I’m pretty sure my nurse is better than my Clown. I can’t even remember the last time I escaped Bozo squared.
-
I admittedly play both, and enjoy them both. I play more killer, but focusing on survivor, I like being able to get in a game and help others out. It’s also super fun to swf (even tho I’m a killer main I recognize how important swf is), and it’s always good to play both sides as it improves my gameplay for each. Plus having a long chase as survivor against a good opponent, or getting respect from my adversary, is always a feel good moment.
-
I rotate killers, it keeps things interesting and makes sure I don’t get stale in my play style. That being said, trappers always had a place in my heart. He was my first main and the one that got me to rank 1 my first season. He’s unpredictable, and 200 IQ traps are almost as nice as cross map hatchets for me. I don’t play him anywhere as much or as well as I used to, but he’s still my trappy boi lmao.

Well since there is gonna be voice coms toxicity will rise
I get that, that’s the nature of being human, we deal with conflict. But we shouldn’t just sit back and say “well s**t happens”. There’s voice comms in almost every multiplayer game, and plenty of toxicity to go around, but a day playing dbd vs. a day playing most other online games, even popular ones with higher player bases, still has more hatemail and lack of respect for opponents in dbd. Why is that? There has to be some factor that’s different.

Honestly I think a good step would be to remove post game chat. That's where it generally happens for me.
I’ve heard that a lot, and think it should be considered as an option to remove it. I know that option already exists, but you have to manually do it each game I believe. That being said, I feel like it doesn’t get to the heart of the issue. I play on Xbox, where we have no post game chat. Instead, people directly message others via their profiles, and can argue for days. Even if you block them, there is still the issue of them reacting that way. I get there will always be some people like that, who play victim and want to pick fights, but the amount seems recklessly high and I feel as though there must be other things at play.

Coding is not my expertise, and I imagine there’s a reason that higher sensitivity isn’t available. That being said, I also wish for it to be amped up, and recommend trying to get the devs to give us a response as to why it’s not as high. We don’t need an immediate solution, but at least a reason so we have some insight into the issue.
-
It’s a doozy I’ll give you that. Ultimately tho, I do think it’s doable, at least compared to other achievements in dbd. They have a habit of going big over going home (500 doc shocks, old skilled huntress, and others). Like @CoffengMin said, running bt will help, and there are plenty of scenarios where you can take a hit for a recently unhooked survivor. It will take time tho, and I can get behind it being reduced somewhat.
-
So I play killer and survivor (total 1,500 hours) and don’t run NOED. I think it’s too much of a crutch perk, tho I’m not tryna hate on those who use it. I don’t run exhaustion perks on my survivor either cause I’m all about pushing myself to get better. That being said, do I think it should be nerfed? Simple answer is no. I think survivors should have a bigger incentive to cleanse totems but as is this is one of the few perks (all hex perks really) that has a clear, definite counter. Not only that, but it can be taken out before providing any use to the killer. I get the frustration, but I can’t honestly say it needs a nerf no matter how many times I see it proc, because I know that even if it is active I have gotten out before without getting hit, even tho the killer was chasing me. Otherwise, you gotta cleanse the totems or take the risk.

Xbox gangggg lol red rank survivor/killer normally since the day it came out on console, glad to be a part of the not always-toxic dbd community, and willing to help out or talk if ya need ✌️
-
I think we have too many counters to it for it to be considered OP. Lockers hide auras, being within the range prevents it from revealing you, distortion (tho I don’t think you should have to run one perk to counter another specifically), not to mention the mind games if the killer does see your aura, such as backtracking, walking then running, predicting cutoffs, there’s just too much for you to do for it to be OP. Yes, I and many others run it mainly because of the bp, but it’s not useless either. Auras matter when survivors don’t take advantage of the counterplay, but even in the cases where the survivor is in an open field with a billy streaking down towards them, that’s not an unwinnable scenario and won’t happen every game. I get the concern and am glad it’s a discussion, but it’s not OP, at least not that I’ve seen.

Spirit is all about the mental headspace of both participants. Don’t be predictable. I get that listing perks isn’t the best since you don’t know what killer you’ll face before a match, but ones like spine chill, iron will, and any components of a Houdini build are great regardless of killer, so it’s good to at least keep in mind. Use your scratch marks as decoys, and don’t be afraid to go for bold walking moves, as a good spirit could hit you no matter how well you run. @thesuicidefox already brought up a great tip about windows, as you have a lot of options when approaching one. Also keep in mind that a spirits hair rises when she’s phasing, in case it’s a fake, but this can be hard to tell based on cosmetics or distance. If you reallyyyy care, make sure to play both sides, as you’ll be able to learn routes that survivors normally take, and try to avoid them.
-
Red rank survivor and killer, and I could not recommend enough that people play both sides. I’ve ran into too many survivors who are the meme-worthy “you suck and didn’t play right” but have never played killer. I also know plenty of entitled killers who think that they’re always the victim. I cannot recommend playing both sides enough. As far as nurse goes, I’m admittedly biased. I play on Xbox, and on over 1,500 hours have only ran into two or three nurses that felt like pros, and only one that made me feel incapable of countering. As far as PC goes, I’d say wait for the add-ons to get looked at first, as they are the real threat. Nurse may very well need some changes after that, but I think the add-ons prevent us from getting a true picture of her strength, unless you cite some pro player as evidence.
-
I appreciate the attention for my trappy boi lol. I don’t think he should get traps at lockers, but I do agree that something should be done. My best guess would be to just have him start out holding all his traps so he doesn’t waste the early game away. He’d still have to pick them back up wherever he left them, but as is he’s practically not even in the game the first few minutes. If he needs more, then we can discuss it, but I think that would be a good stepping stone.

Personally, I don’t give hatch but I don’t slug to get the 4K (generally) either. I give them a chance to get it too, but I don’t want it to be a freebie just cause they happened to outlive the others. That being said, I probably would give hatch if it wasn’t for the fact that if a dc or selfish teammate happens, I let all other survivors go by default. I’m not gonna push that on others, I’m a huge advocate for everyone playing pretty much however they want, but that’s my general attitude, excluding exceptions.
-
Okay but like...why? They nerfed her end game foothold (which was a shame because I was looking forward to playing against end game piggy’s for some excitement), but at least you could track the logic of that decision, even if I personally didn’t think it was necessary. I can’t do that with this tho, dash attacks aren’t that much stronger than standard ones, and only keeping some effects but removing others? Poor piggy’s turning into bacon bits...

An Xbox killer main who plays plenty of survivor and tries to be kind to others? Are you a better version of me? Lol but fr, I see your point about mori’s. I don’t run add-ons or offerings so I rarely use them, but I’ve been on the receiving end a few times. Ultimately however (in my experience) I don’t run into them often enough for me to wholeheartedly consider reworking them. The devs put a lot of work into those animations but you want them to be seen as a viable offering, not just a different looking death hook animation yknow? Plus if you’re having a bad day and run into some jerks, it relieves some stress for me at least. Ultimately I don’t think it needs a rework, at least not above some other features, but I think it’s a good thing to note and I’m always willing to change my opinion if the argument is good enough.

I totally agree that the killer adepts are harder than survivor ones. I believe they should stick with the 4K requirement, but leave out the 2 pip part as that largely is not influenced by how well you play (I.e. gatekeeper). That being said, are there any particular adepts you are struggling with?
