do you think this is a science project?
if you wanna know if people leave or not, its possible to see in steam how many people are playing the different games.
and yes, people can make judgements on a game based on their own opinions, its quite common. specially when one person has an opinion about the game that suddenly a lot of people share.
I think you misunderstand what I'm saying, partially because I worded it poorly.
People need to stop thinking that a few people being upset and giving up playing the game will not meaningfully impact the amount of players playing the game.
People act like saying "I hate this game, I quit" means anything. Just because a few people give up on the game doesn't mean the game is dying.
-
Can people please stop making huge judgements about the state of the game based on queue times and what 3 people on the forums say?
It means literally nothing. Without hard data to back it up, you cannot draw conclusions about the number of players leaving.
-
(ignores the parts about toolbox changes)
-
The Shackled or The Restrained, something in that boat is my guess.
-
DBD Community: people leave matches too much!!! It's unfair and unfun. You guys need to do something about this, it's getting rediculous!
BHVR: Okay. *adds DC penalty*
DBD Community: #########!!!! Why would you add these bullshit penalties???

I'm sorry did you sell the game to EAC or something? Devs always answer with "weeell, we don't care, but if EAC cares we can't do sh*t..". What the actual Fu**? Is it just me? Am I going crazy? Does an anticheat as ######### as EAC owns the devs by the balls? What the... F. Someone please enlighten me...
You pay EAC thousand of dollars and don't have a say in what is cheating in your own game and what is not? Are we supposed to believe this? Is this really the case?
Well, no. Not really. They pay for EAC to detect and handle cheaters on their side, the entire point is for BHVR to not handle the anticheat.

The devs released stats back in November, her pick rate is similar to clowns and her kill rate is below average. Of course this is outdated since the ruin changes, but I'm sure that wouldn't increase her kill or pick rate.
So you don't have a stat to back up what you said...
Low kill rates don't mean a lot on difficult killers, because people who play it to try it out will likely get 0 kills

I really hope the devs realize their mistake now that Nurse's one of the least picked Killers in the whole game, with one of the worst kill-rates. They just need to remove the base kit changes, the add-on changes are fine.
What evidence do you have that this is the case? Did the devs release more stats? Or are you just making stats up
-
2 killers in one game would be incredibly broken.
2 hatchets immediately hitting the same person for an instant down
2 tier 3 Myers
1 plague infecting and another long range downing
2 hags making loops unironically impossible
And these were just off the top of my head for duplicates. This doesn't sound fun to me
-
Not every perk needs to be globally useful. Some can and should just be situational.

@AntiJelly said:
Killers don't want 3-4 kills a match, they want a fair match. When you lose, it doesn't feel deserved. Even winning sometimes it doesn't feel deserved. There's too many broken and unfair mechanics.
(Also dev stats are completely meaningless. They use a tiny test-group and skew the data.)
Do you have any proof this is the case or are you just mindlessly spitting out "bhvr bad"

Saw this thread before checking out the hex ruin change.....
THIS IS LITERALLY THE MOST USELESS PERK IN THE GAME GET OUT....
Why? Because gen tapping exists. Kicking gens dude....just no. The amount of time you spend is negated by a single click, and in order to regress a gen you have to spend time away from tracking your targets to kick it. I don't even kick gens on my killers anymore its a waste of time, and I still get 4k's because I didn't waste time BSing with a gen and instead just kept the chases up non stop. Ain't nobody got time for this new ruin unless you're completely oblivious to how pop goes the weasel works, which is far superior in every way. And its a hex.....get out....
No perk can possibly be the worst when monstrous shrine exists

Sorry BHVR, I really had faith in you.
You seemed to be on the right path after that McCote Hag game but after the current ptb changes it's clear that you guys learned nothing at all from the former dark times.
I gotta admit that Ruin needed changes, because it was mandatory on any killer (80% userate at red ranks lmao), but why do you choose to not compensate anything for killer??
Just because Mc Cote can't hit great skillchecks in his rank 20 streams?
The last few weeks I have been playing as survivor on rank 1, 3/4 of my games are against rank 10 killers, because no one wants to play killers at red ranks.
I feel sorry for the workers at BHVR that have to suffer because of this poor balancing.
Any chance you have PROOF of this? Or just bhvr bad
-
Wow we are still spitting out this false info.
He wasn't talking about the PTB.
Nowhere in the post did he say PTB.
He was referring to *internal* testing. He was saying they were happy with out the *internal* testing worked.

So they're glad how it turned out for, no offense intended a bunch of people who barely play and play very casually, instead of their customer base.
If you think people who *develop* a game barely play it, you clearly don't know what you're talking about
@53nation said:
This was decided in a meeting a long ago, it seems. It's a marketing move. The same reason that the new collectors edition has Trapper sharing the cover with Demo. Instead of just some dlc blurb at the bottom.
They want the game to be more accessible to the rage-quit inclined. They also apparently asked ppl off the street to play rank 20 survivor against ruin and everyone died.
This makes literally no sense. Obviously they'd advertise getting a deal with a major franchise like Stranger Things, this is extremely major. But "we nerfed ruin" is only influential to people who already play the game. It means nothing to people who haven't played it. Has nothing to do with marketing
-
Ptb is going to be a hard comparison to test compared to what live will be imo. Most games likely have ruin and most survivors probably expect there to be ruin, so they're just going to look for totems at the beginning of the game.
-
That screenshot that was posted is not referring to PTB. If that's what you're talking about, you're being extremely disingenuous.
-
>acting like the community complaining that a change ruins the game, is a severe nerf, and the devs favor the other side is something new in the dbd community

Devs dont listen to killers, only survivors, facts.
Yeah I really wish they'd nerf instaheals
-
Because people were using it way too much. People like to act like it's necessary to win games when it's honestly not. I hate using it as a killer and I hate playing against it as a survivor. Nothing about it is fun or creative and there's practically no risk or involvement from the killer needed.
Passive effects should never be overwhelmingly hard on the other side. If something is always active (until hex totem destroyed), it shouldn't be something that is extremely powerful.
No perk should ever have as high of a usage as Ruin does. Granted, this isn't an easy feat and I don't think this is a realistic expectation. However, I'm glad BHVR is remaining open minded to reworking perks like this and even emblems that could be directly affected by it.
-
Good
-
"Myer's tier 3 increases his lunge range slightly"
Did you seriously call his lunge range increase slight?
That is easily one of the best things about tier 3. Even against 4 no mithers, tier 3 can still be worth it just for the lunge range (and speed of course).
-
"why are you doing your objective? You're supposed to let me hook you"
-
"The thing is that the nerf heavily outweighs the buff."
That's... The point of a Nerf??? If everything got equally buffed and nerfed, then nothing would ever be different balance wise, itd just be different to play
That literally makes so sense
-
Suiciding on hook should absolutely not be punishable, what??? That would literally be punishing for using a game mechanic for one of the things it can be used for.
-
You can't use stats while ignoring the warning right on the page.
"Please keep in mind that numbers are not everything; there are a whole bunch of factors that could influence these numbers."
Numbers aren't everything. They don't rework just based on numbers.

I agree with you. But you seem to be replying to someone saying she has or doesnt need tells...
The shards don't glow. People looked at the game code, it's not there.
It might be a side effect of something else then in which case even that wouldn't be intentional and wouldn't be reliable, but it doesn't really change what I'm saying
Although I haven't seen anyone say that personally
-
Whether or not you think she needs a tell is one thing, but the glowing shards works only on some skins, if you are very close, and you spend time looking directly at her without moving or focusing on anything else except looking at her. It is pretty subtle and impractical midchase/loop, and it's honestly not worth it to even end up looking for almost any time.
Also, her hair "popping" happens very very rarely, and I don't think it's even intended, and I don't even think it's totally intentional, so I wouldn't consider it reliable
Now whether or not you think she NEEDS a reliable tell is a different story, but these just aren't that reliable. Personally I like the changes they made, and I'm excited to see how they play out in game.

What is skillful or fun about having your power limited artificially (blinking easily half as much before the changes) or when it screws you and eats a blink or the charge wasn't done so you lost the 2nd blink?
These are not skillful interactions, they're a byproduct of band-aid patch on Nurse that doesn't make mechanically or logical sense.
And who cares if they were spamming blinks? I'll let you in on a secret: if they were bad it doesn't matter if they were using blinks 24/7 or barely using it at all. SPAMMING BLINKS DOESN'T = REWARD. It just means you're moving a lot. That's all it has ever meant. You must USE YOUR SKILL in combination with the blink or nothing happens. Why does this stupid argument keep coming up?
If a trapper places a million bad traps or no traps, is there a difference? No, it takes skill to know where/when to place the trap. Spamming them doesn't get you a reward, it is the SAME for Nurse, except now you can't even use your power with confidence or fun anymore.
If you know how to use your blinks, then this change won't affect you.

You usually get punished for your mistakes when you play with Nurse. Now you need to play PERFECTLY. If not, you get double punishment. How this new Nurse is better?
Because if you double blinked into someone, missed, they ran away, they couldn't get far enough away, you already have two blinks again. Now you actually have to use some thought process into how many blinks you want to use.
-
"completely repair" means "repair to completion", not "repair by yourself from 0 to 100". You just need dark sense to proc x many times in the trial by being on the gen when it finishes.
-

Says the person who probably never played with Nurse back and before the nerfs
I've played her both before and after, and still enjoy her. I haven't had as much time to get used to it, but she's much better now imo. Instead of just being able to blink all the time as much as possible, now you actually have to think about whether or not it's worth it to blink the second time. "can I get a hit here if I use my second blink, or should I save it and blink twice at them?" She's much more rewarding for players that are skilled with her, which is what she should be.
Why do people always try to assume people dont know what they're talking about and flame them for it without even knowing? It just makes you look silly.
-
@TeambossFloze said:
@Peanits can you confirm that the 3 gen dark sense challenge only needs you to participate in and not complete solo three gens by yourself?
This dead horse has been beaten so many times, just let it rest guys.
The goal of this challenge is just to get dark sense to proc. You do this by being on a gen when it completes. In other words, you need to repair it to completion, or completely repair it. It says nothing about doing this by yourself or doing this from 0% to 100%.
-
@Kalec84 said:
Also, only 74 shards in this level vs the 80 of the previous level... can't wait to finish the rift in 70 hrs...
Are you complaining that there are *6* fewer shards in this level
-
"I'm bad at nurse and it isn't easy to learn her, so the Nerf was bad!!!"
-
Nurses rework is actually really well done imo. It kept her power feeling the same, but opened up more counterplay by making it more punishing if you missed a blink and by making so you actually had to ration them out.
-
All right everyone, say it with me again
For this challenge, you just need to be on a gen when it is completed 4 times, you don't have to fully repair it. It isn't that difficult at all to do, though it might take a few trials attempting it
-
Why are you "dreading" something that has barely been hinted at yet? We have absolutely no way of knowing what it is yet. I think you're getting ahead of yourself here, nothing has been confirmed yet
-
You guys act like the devs really don't think of anything, huh
I am extremely confident they are looking into why she's overperforming (because she is, anyone who says otherwise just plainly is wrong).
Recently, I remember someone on the dev team saying that nurse didn't have high sacrifice percentages, because while she is really one of the best killers, she comes at a cost - she's REALLY hard to get the hang of. Spirit on the other hand had high sacrifice percentages because she is very strong, but doesn't come at a high difficulty.
She is just too easy to be able to get high kills with her. She needs some changes so that her power, which is actually a good idea and seems like the kind of thing I'd have fun mastering, actually has a skill level that matches it.
-
If someone doesn't have counterplay, and you change the killer to give them counterplay, that is by definition a Nerf. You are making them less viable. That isn't a bad thing though, spirit definitely needs it imo
-
Spirit is not fun to play against. It's practically just RNG what happens and there's very little I can do about it. I could care less about losing, I do it plenty, but spirits just not fun to be against.

All the people here arguing probably run crutch/clutch perks like NOED and Ruin paired with an Ebony Mori.
And if you have to run either of the two perks listed above, then you're actually a garbage killer.
I wouldn't say ruin is a crutch perk tbh. Without ruin, there are games where survivors can do 1-2 gens before you get a first hook if you're unlucky enough. (At least, on most killers. Some really don't need it)

ah ok gl doing 4gens by urself in a single game xD
Again, this is still not known to be correct. I'm fairly confident that you are supposed to *complete* 4 gens, not completely complete by yourself, aka, get Dark Sense, the perk in question, to be activated 4 times. I don't think you need to do the gens fully, simply be on 4 different gens when they pop.

That's not entirely true. You don't just randomly unlock them as you play (like steam achievements). You have to focus on one in particular. You have to have that goal in mind so it affects your gameplay decisions. Now if I could unlock them through play randomly, I'd be fine with that. Some of these are just... un-fun to even think of attempting.
That's exactly my point. By focusing on them this much, you aren't a casual player. There's nothing wrong with that though. But by the 4th level in the tome, I should hope that the challenges would be this difficult. That way that take at least the rest of the time to complete, possibly longer. The current challenges many people were able to finish in a day, which while theres nothing wrong with that, I'd like to see the challenges pick up in difficulty.

There is a difference between hard and straight up impossible unless you play swf and throw the game. Or once in a blue moon when the killer is a potatoe and your team mates are potatoes aswell and to afraid to even touch a generator and just hide in lockers the whole game.
These challenges are not that impossible, they're just difficult and may take don't time to complete. But they're completely doable.

The amount of hours required to complete the rift without doing all of the challenges rivals that of a full-time job.
That's not casual friendly. That's not even consumer friendly. It's manipulative to force people to play more or miss out on exclusive, limited time rewards, and also to frustrate people with virtually impossible challenges so they can skip the grind with their time saver. And yet they have the audacity to try and advertise it as a consumer friendly thing despite the Rift manipulating people in this way, and they have the gall to say that it should only require 1 hour a day to reach the end even if you don't do the challenges, when the actual math and the hard facts are that "an hour a day" is a woeful miscalculation of the actual time required. It requires at least 5 times what they said it would take. It's a blatant cold-faced lie.
Yes, it's "technically" possible to complete the rift through grinding. That's the point and that's what they're baiting you with. However it shouldn't be "technically" possible. It should be realistically possible. The math shows that it's not realistic at all, let alone for casuals.
They do one consumer-friendly thing in the rift in letting you wait to buy it until the end, and that's literally the only defense people who support this can say in defense for all the other anti-consumer things this rift does. One right does not validate several wrongs.
You have absolutely no way of knowing what you are claiming to. The rift has been open for one full day (out of 70) and you are already claiming it would take the same time as a full time job.
Additionally, you are mixing up a lot of things. Someone who wants every reward in game without paying at all and without having to work for it is not a casual player, they are just greedy. If someone wants to unlock everything, that is completely fine. I even want to do that. However, that no longer makes you a casual player. It is going to be harder to complete.
Your expectations are sort of all over. You're saying it's manipulative to have a limited time event?? Every major game does this, it's a really good way of encouraging people to play more. Additionally, you don't even have to get rewards through the rift. Many of them will become available for purchase later.
You can't expect them to just give everything out for free with no challenge whenever it's convenient for you.

Except the part where they advertised this whole thing as being "casual friendly" and how they preached they're trying to be "consumer friendly" and "fair" as possible.
But hey, if they want to blatantly lie to everyone's faces and be just like Bethesda, then that's fine. I hear Identity V is doing pretty damn well.
Something being hard doesn't mean it suddenly isn't going to be consumer friendly. As a whole, the Archives still are casual friendly. Almost all of the challenges you can do passively through games with little or no thought put into them (albeit it will take a few games to do) and you can get all the way to the end of the rift as well.
If you want to complete every challenge, you are NOT playing casually. You are no longer in the same boat, and challenges SHOULD be harder.
They were not lying, I would still say what they said is true.
