  • Had this happen on PS4 yesterday v Wesker. Hopped on gen after unhook and didn't have a single skill check. Killer downing and picking me up for second time seemed to fix it.

  • It's definitely off. I had a match where there were no additional BP offerings played. I had 32k normal BP and 7k event BP so 39k total. Was supposed to be 100% BP incentive but I ended up with only 70k BP.

I meant it to mean that the Endgame Collapse would start similar to if the killer stomped the hatch at precisely 30 minutes game time. The hatch would still spawn once only 1 survivor remained in the match, I don't see why that should change.

Never in DbD have the gates opened without having a killer or survivor open them, so that's a pretty raw assumption to make.

Saying "hadn't thought gates wouldn't be open" doesn't sound like you just meant gates powered it sounds like exit gates are opened - especially when it was in response to my argument about having limited time to open the gates and the killer being able to block them. But whatever, it was just a misunderstanding and you cleared it up so thanks for clarifying what you actually meant.

Where did I suggest the doors open automatically?

You really have just been trolling me this entire time haven't you?

I am such a gullible moron.

You said you "hadn't realized that the gates wouldn't be open for this End-Endgame Collapse happening." which I took to mean when you came up with your idea you had planned the doors would automatically open.

I hadn't realized that the gates wouldn't be open for this End-Endgame Collapse happening.

Still the solution is simple, extend the EEGC timer by a minutes. I'll edit the OP if I still can.

Yes they should fix map RNG and and fix the perks but I still think this should be added to the game since no game of DbD should last an hour.

No one in their right mind wants games of DbD to last an hour. It's ridiculous to defend it.

If doors automatically opened after 30 minutes for the remaining survivors killers would flip out. Good punishment for 3 gen stall but there's no way that wouldn't get a crazy amount of backlash.

I'm for shorter matches (I said before just end in draw if players really want to stall for 30 minutes) BUT the things that stall the matches in the first place need to be adjusted first because 30 minute stall builds would become more common if they went forward with this. Right now an hour match is a deterrent to doing a stall match because like you said, "no one wants an hour match," but 30 minutes won't seem so bad so it will be more appealing.

  • Yes, before the event started so I'm taking a DBD break now. When next level of the event tome comes out I'll get the challenges for cosmetics completed as quickly as possible and then go back to my DBD break until next rift opens.

  • I don't know why but only your profile pic is showing up as like tiny dot for me. Everyone else's looks normal.

Yeah, I do try and go out of my way to let people safety because *holy crap* is it way too easy to depip on survivor for what often feels like stuff out of your control. Honestly, depipping needs to go away.

I'll also often let folks finish a gen or get some extra healing for this purpose, especially if I've brought a flan or streamers.

Agreed on depipping needs to go away. Negative pips should've been removed the moment they switched to grades and they had nothing to do with matchmaking.

If you brought flan/streamers it's the smart way to play so you get BP too. I always find it odd when killers bring BP offering only to quickly kill everyone and get like minimum killer BP. Seems like such a waste.

  • 1. Gen and Hook RNG. Make it so 3 gens aren't a thing by spreading gens out better, also add a gen so there's 4 gens available when 1 gen is left to complete. Make it so there aren't hook dead zones, hooks broken by sacrifice return after 3 minutes so there aren't permanent dead zones but killer still needs to be aware of where they're killing someone to avoid temporary dead zone.

    2. Caps to healing speeds/debuffs, gen speeds/slow downs/regression. Put exhaustion like effect on perks like Jolt, Eruption, and Pain Resonance where a gen can't get hit by multiple gen regression perks in short time. Gens shouldn't fly by but also shouldn't take forever to complete.

    3. Trapper - add more ground cover to maps, make traps blend in better with different color maps, fix the trap collection to not require walking all around the map to collect them at start of match, any survivor that escapes a trap have deep wound so it hurts injured survibors too.

In Hens' video if EGC started after 30 minutes, no survivors would have gotten auto-killed and Hens would have struggled to get a 2k and probably have gotten less.

I would expect less than 10% of survivors to actually get auto-killed after 30 minutes with the lenient guidelines I set out in the OP. Those conditions are there just so the survivors have to try and not just hide the entire game. If anything, 250 seconds of gen time might even be too low.

I don't know what game you're playing if you think guarding 2 gates from 4 survivors is easy, it's not DbD, that's for sure. The survivors literally have to throw in that scenario for the killer to get a 4k even with the closest gate spawns possible. This is especially true because the stalling killer has devoted most if not their entire build to slowdowns which leaves little room for NWO, NOED, or other endgame perks and they are probably playing a less than S tier killer like Knight, Doctor or Legion. The killer resorted to a stalling strategy so their ability to even catch survivors is questionable. I bet their average kill rate would be below 25% for games lasting more than 30 minutes.

In Hens video he's leaving the gens long enough for the survivors to work on them - he goofs off standing still watching a crouched survivor's aura until they move and just shaking no at a healthy survivor with a flashlight. If a killer knows that survivors can avoid insta kill from just attempting to work on the 3 gen until 30 minutes is up they won't be as forgiving and will try harder to prevent survivors from touching gens.

Guarding the doors with unlimited time from 4 survivors is difficult but if the survivors are limited on time because EGC has started it's much easier - it's why killers tend to throw out the idea that EGC should start when the last gen is completed instead of when the exit gate is opened. Just toss on No Way Out instead of No Where to Hide so you know which door they went to first, the doors get blocked and survivors have even less time during EGC to open the exits.

It's also assuming all 4 survivors stuck around - that none decided to offer themselves up or DC because they didn't want to be stuck in another gen stall match for 30 minutes and maybe escape but probably not. The 30 minute gen stall plus possibility of insta kill and the limited time to open a door because EGC are things that will discourage survivors from wanting to play the unfun match.

You can bandaid fix the problem with 30 minute matches but it is going to increase the amount of killers playing 3 gen stall matches and it's going to increase the amount of survivors quitting (DC or offering themselves up to killer) because they don't want to be in a 30 minute gen stall match.

This bandaid fix does nothing to fix the issue and there are better solutions like fixing gen rng, adjusting perks that are an issue with 3 gens (this is probably the easiest for BHVR), have more gens available to work on when 1 gen is left, if a killer damages same gen dozen times without hooking anyone a random gen on other side of the map becomes available to work on. All the other solutions wouldn't require the match to be stalled for 30 minutes and would end the match much faster. They also encourage progressing games instead of stalling them.

  • Turn off chat or just ignore it when there's a DC. Play how you want.

When I'm survivor I personally like the killer to chill out a bit - not farm but like let me atleast get some BP or maybe do enough to safety pip. I understand if they are just killing everyone quickly so they can go to next match to hopefully have a real match. I get annoyed when the killer decides to waste the remaining survivors time by slugging them until they bleedout.

Currently, if a game lasts 60 minutes the killer wins by default as all survivors get insta-killed as the match ends.

My suggestion gives the survivors a chance to survive after 30 minutes of torture with a possible exciting completion. This is a win-win for survivors: not only do they never have to suffer for a full hour ever again, they also get a chance to survive. But somehow in your eyes this benefits the killer.

Ending the game in a draw is boring. If survivors don't have a chance to win outright then what point is there to stick around in the match and not just go ask the killer for death so they can go next?

BHVR goes with band-aid solutions because they're lazy. Encouragement has nothing to do with it. They shouldn't have needed to be encouraged to fix the hacking problem by their big content creators, it should have just just been part of the games development for the last 6 years.

Anyways I don't think there is any way for me to sway your mind and you're not going to sway mine.

    Good day.

It's not a win win for the survivors when it encourages an unfun problematic gameplay. It will result in more killers going for the 3 gen stall which will lead to more of these unfun matches. A shortened time makes it more appealing to killers because they won't have to wait as long for results and can move onto next match faster to repeat same tactic - 3 gen stall 8 survivors in an hour instead of 4, sounds awesome and not ruining more players game time at all. EGC starting without a door open is also appealing to killers since it is easy to prevent the two exits from being opened for 2 minutes - especially if some survivors have already been auto-killed for them.

Draw would encourage killers to actually secure a kill over guarding the 3 gen. What's the point of 3 gen stall for 30 minutes if you won't get kills as a result? Survivors won't get bored and ask to go next because the killer will be forced to commit to chase - if killer doesn't and just continues guarding 3 gen they basically have thrown the game for no BP and no kills, just wasting time which they shouldn't get rewarded for anyway.

BHVR does bandaid fixes because the playerbase is impatient and easily distracted. The bandaid fixes don't actually fix the issues making the game unfun. The bandaids just give the appearance they're trying to help while something else that's broken attracts the focus of complaints. With a bandaid fix the issue is still there, still unfun, and still needs an actual fix.

You're still missing the entire point. The survivor would only get autokilled if they hid all game, in which case they don't deserve a chance to live. If a survivor put in the effort to get the gens done and only 1 gen was left, they would be afforded an opportunity to escape in EGC. 250 seconds of gen time is not a high bar to reach in a game lasting 30 minutes.

My idea would have the exact opposite effect of what you're saying. Are you just assuming survivors hide all game?

Killers can have a very successful time doing the 3 gen stall strategy because your average survivor (especially SoloQs) in DbD is not going to try once they realize they are in a very bad 3gen, especially if the killer has been camping it and have the right perks. Most of them are going to go to the killer and ask for death and I am there right beside them. Even if I last the hour I still lose. I do not want waste an hour on a game of DbD and I am will to hand-deliver myself to the hook for the killer to put me on it than suffer through that BS. That's just not healthy for the game.

Seriously, who wants a game of DbD to last an hour? Please point them out to me.

30 minutes is an acceptable maximum.

If survivors know they could try for half an hour and have a chance at escaping if the killer chooses to do this 3gen camping crap that is possible with current meta, they'd be more than likely stick it out until the end. That would be good for the game.

I make this sort of suggestion because I know my target; BHVR. This is the exact sort of band-aid solution BHVR is likely to implement. Yes I'd love to see them fix map and gen-spawning RNG, but I know that just isn't going to happen.

Your idea still benefits the killer using a problematic strategy. It sends the survivors to EGC giving them 2 minutes to unlock the doors, which the killer can now easily use to wait out the timer while guarding the doors. Toss on No Way Out and it makes it even easier. 30 minute stall matches will become the norm with a band aid fix like you're suggesting.

If you want a match to end after 30 minutes you could just have the game end in a draw - no one escapes or dies.

BHVR goes with band aid solutions because they get encouraged to use them with ideas like this. Continuing to not fix the problems in this game and instead do band aid fixes is why the game keeps becoming more and more unfun.

The survivors already get auto-killed after the 60 minute timer runs out, or at least it looks like it in the Hens video.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3294409#Comment_3294409

My idea is not just cutting the game timer in half. It's a fully fleshed out idea meant to deal with multiple scenarios because neither side should have the option to stall the game out to get a win. It's horrible for the game.

With this solution stalling the game for 30 minutes would not be an automatic win for either side. As long as the survivors put in an effort to complete the gens (250s of gen time in the OP), they all get to take their chances in an Endgame Collapse. If the Entity found their efforts lacking, then they deserve instant death.

There has to be something there to make both sides try. Killers should not be able to get an automatic win for locking down a 3gen all game and survivors should not get an automatic win for hiding all game.

I wish I had more fun playing DbD. I'd be playing the game instead of coming up with suggestions to improve the game that no one bothers to actually read and will never get implemented.

The autokill after an hour is already benefitting killers doing the 3 gen stall like Hens, you're idea halves the time needed which encourages killers to continue doing it and hopefully get the time needed cut down further for easier auto-kills. It does nothing to discourage 3 gen stall games, it makes them more effective for the killer.

Auto-killing the survivors shouldn't be the go to fix for problematic game mechanics. Fixing gen rng, adding additional gens available to work on when one gen is left so there's more gens to keep track of when 1 gen is left, deactivating certain gen regression perks once one gen is left similar to how OTR/DS get deactivated once gens are completed. There's other ways to fix the problem that isn't "auto-kill the survivors because killer stalled the game with a 3-gen and wouldn't commit to hooking them."

  • Having the survivors auto-killed like that would just encourage killers to 3 gen and not commit to a chase even more often. You're rewarding that gameplay, not punishing it.

  • More tool tips would be nice. It would definitely be helpful too for the players that maybe took a break and missed out on changes that were made to certain perks/killers.

There's alot of game mechanics that players just don't realize are a thing. Like alot don't know that killer instinct isn't the same as aura reading, it will reveal a survivor trying to hide in a locker.

Same! I'm also PS4. Contacted BHVR about it and went through some basic troubleshooting and nothing fixed it. This only happens with DBD. Really does seem like this is an actual issue on BHVR's end. I sincerely hope they fix this soon.

He never gets a DC penalty when it happens so at the very least he can go into a new match right away. Only time it's happened to me (I'm on ps4 too) we both get kicked at same time so assume everyone else was kicked as well.

  • My swf teammate is on ps4 and it has been happening to him pretty often for like a month+ now. Last time was as I was opening the exit gate and he was standing next to me, would've escaped but nope, the game randomly kicked him. Has happened as he's being carried after he has been downed or midchase, he knows it's about to happen because all of a sudden he can't move/wiggle. Every time he can see the killers load out on the end game screen even though the match is still going - on his screen it says the killer DC'd too. I made a bug report here when it first happened to him.

  • @fake said:

As a previous suggestion, I think a casual mode should be added in addition to the current ranked match mode (there is no rank, but it says so in the game).

They've said no to that because sweaty competitive players would go into casual mode for easy matches which would defeat the point of a separate casual mode. They have also mentioned not wanting to divide the player base into separate queues.

If they designed events to be a separate game mode they can make it so they are truly a casual mode and it'd only temporarily impact the queues since events only last couple weeks.

  • Since it requires the killer to DC they should kill switch the Twins until it's fixed.

yeah I'm not sold on the green myself either.

I have to work with DbD Brand Colours - so I am limited to what colours we can use. Problem with Red is that it's really hard for our colourblind folks to see anything as red on a dark background doesn't shop for them, which is why I'm trying to make things more accessibile. We'll definitely sort something out about that though.

Font being too big - that I might be able to change next week. I'm not sure about the names though - the names on posts look too small?

I'm not sure how much I can change with regards to the notifications on Mobile, this theme (it's a new theme, that's fully supported with updates etc, whereas the previous one was out of date and every update things would break, hence the change!)...It's definitely things I can bring up as requests to the hosting provider for sure though.

Ohhh I would love an actual mobile app - that would solve everything related to mobile (and yes I have requested that!)

Just want to say thanks for being so quick on making changes based on feedback. 😁

I'm glad to see the dev/community manager/mod badges showing that they've commented on a post. Is there a way to make it so if you click on it you get brought to the first comment they made in a post like on the old forum? Right now if I click on the community manager badge on this post instead of it bringing me to your first comment it brings me to a search page showing all posts made by community managers on the forums.

Also is there a way to change the color of the dev/community manager/mod badge so it sticks out a bit if you're scrolling through a post to find the comments made instead of relying on profile pic? It was easy before to scroll through the comments on a post to find additional comments made by dev/community manager/mod when there was random red badge catching my eye. Currently the badge blends in with the rest of the text in a post.

  • Would post more kitty pics but Darryl won't let me take pics, he demands constant attention and love and snuggles when I'm in the room with them. Occasionally I can sneak pics when he's hanging out on my back. In this one he's switching off kneading my back and then the air. 😂

    _20221207_223046.JPG

Dante still won't let me touch him 99.9% of the time. He does enjoy game of I put fist out and he swats at it with his paws and claws out. Currently taking a break from that game so my hand can heal so he attacks my slippers while I'm wearing them. He's definitely not as pleased, I think he prefers the sound and feel of his claws ripping through flesh. 😂 Husband made these pics after I sent video of Dante playing attacking my hand. First he made Mikey because Dante swatting me reminded him of Mikey stabbing. I said it's more like Freddy because of the claws.

Kitties have gotten so big over the last month. Dante still smaller than Darryl but he's definitely alot closer to same size now.

I might keep some, we're low on space so we do need to free up space for the newer ones

Makes sense. I just like the idea of seeing the old perk logos that aren't in the game anymore. I'm more so looking forward to finally having more neutral sided options.

  • Doctor - he's my easy BP killer. Get a bunch without having to kill anyone. Plus I enjoy making survivors scream.

Trapper - I like the snap sound of catching survivors in my traps and finding random places to catch them. When I can find places where survivors step in one trap, free themselves only to step in a second in brings me joy and makes me laugh.

Ghostface - I like finding a place to hide and mark survivors. Love watching them scurry away paranoid about where I am. When they finally think I'm just marking and won't down them I'll pop out and hit them. Then go back to watching them be paranoid anytime I mark them.

I really mostly just goof off as killer.

Mm. I'm calling it a day after that horrible, horrible game - I'm wondering if getting in and out clears them then? Because this person ended a 30+ minute match with 3k BP and never once got crows, or me seeing them.

I swear, people just don't like playing against Wesker.

Probably did the equivalent to locker hopping to avoid crows and would've done that even if there wasn't an event. You only get like 100 event BP from jumping in snowmen and it caps at maybe 5 times? After that you don't get anymore event BP from jumping in them.

The only 2 killers I had that goofed off in snowmen were Weskers. One did it the entire match and refused to 2 hook me even though I offered. The other decided to let me live and goofed off in snowman for a bit after killing my teammates. Rest of the killers seemed angry there was an event.

So...the old Small game will be gone?

Or I misunderstanding about "drop the perks" part.

Noooo. Please keep the old original perk designs. Be fun thing to have on forums. 😁

  • Last year they exploded once you crossed the escape line.

  • I definitely got crows in a snowman. My swf teammate was being the absolute worst at listening to me tell him where I was (next to another snowman) so he could give me snowman high five and I got a crow waiting for him. I started moving to get rid of it.

  • It's not just matchmaking incentives being kill switched that increased queue times for killer, it's the event too.

Killer side you get more BP from the event. All hook BP is yours, there's no splitting it up with 4 others. Survivors need to be on the gen when it finishes or else they miss out on the limited event BP from those - which can be frustrating if you're stuck in chase with killer or get run off at 95% complete and someone runs in to finish it. Snowmen also give killers more easy BP scoring events than survivor and the snowmen give killers a basekit Insidious while in them.

Potentially huge news for the Cute and Cuddly thread...

Your favorite poster on the forum (...no, not GoodBoyKaru...no, not Mooks...no not Gent for crying out loud, it's Tippy!!!!) reached out to the organization where I got Holly and Olive because I really liked working with them for my cats and I love cats (and puppers but this place mainly works with cats) and I've been looking for a volunteer opportunity.

I've volunteered with them and it just so happens that they needed a "caretaker" for their local partnership with the pet store. Basically someone to come into the store each day to feed and water the kitties (especially water, they'll stay tiny and smol if you don't properly water your cats!) and change the litter box and whatnot. So in theory, we're about to see a lot more new kitty pics!!!

That's awesome. When I worked at petshop the employees were responsible for feeding/watering/changing litter box and the kitties barely got attention because we were limited for time. When I'd close/open I'd rush whatever crap I needed to so I could give the kitties extra love but it was inconsistent. It's good your rescue sends someone to do it.

Make friends with employees, maybe they'll let you snuggle other animals in the shop. It was like the one perk of working in petshop, access to animals I couldn't take home. 😂

    Hot Cocoa Gang rise up!!!!

I wish I could get into coffee. But it's super icky :(

I know you can add all kinds of cream and sugar and ish to it but I went to a coffee shop and asked them for the item that they would recommend to someone who doesn't like coffee and they made me some drink stuffed to the gills with caramel and chocolate and I still didn't like it

I feel like alot of coffee shops like to use "dark roast" as their go to and it's impossible to hide the bitter taste with that. I enjoy coffee but hate dark roast, can fill it with all the sugar imaginable but it still tastes like burnt and bitter grossness to me. 😂

  • I switch it up between coffee, tea, and hot chocolate. I do alot of local coffee shops for lattes because I don't have anything to do a good espresso with at home and coffee shop lattes just hit different. I do have a milk frother that I love though that makes coffee and hot chocolate extra tasty - use it mostly for hot chocolate.

My favorite brands to make at home:

Coffee: Bones, Deadsled, Godiva, and Diddly Squat Farm (to me this one tastes like a coffee/tea mix).

Tea: Twinnings Irish Breakfast is my absolute go to for hot tea. Lipton is my go to for ice tea.

Hot Chocolate: Kakawa (the best), Godiva, and one from local chocolate shop.

It's been mentioned a few times about maybe having competitive vs casual modes, but others have mentioned that alot of the time sweaty players will take advantage of easy kills/escapes. So chances of sweaty players sticking to competitive mode is slim. Most will still come over to casual because they don't want to play against people with their same energy

By event mode I mean an entirely different mode that is specific to the event, remove aspects that could make it sweaty. Like a 10 minute hide and go seek where survivors need to hop in and out of as many snowmen as possible while killers need to pop them - be like whack a mole. Something goofy for players to just chill out.

  • I feel like they need to make a separate game mode when it comes to events. You want to play normal/sweaty games can play the normal game mode, otherwise there's a separate event mode that isn't the normal game that you can earn event stuff in. This way players that want to goof off and have fun have the event and those that don't have the normal game mode.

You’re so welcome! Honestly I’ve had so much fun. I saved my Ormonds for months lol so I could be Krampus Claus..I have to say I played a few matches as survivor just to see how the event was from that perspective….

It was terrible… killers were going so hard, it was making doing challenges way harder and less fun then it should be.

Much more fun being a Holiday killer…and tbh the survivors have been great for the most part, they wanna have fun back and I’ve left every match w no less than 30k points…and lots of laughs ☺️ One girl left on a snowman and turned around and waved at me, it was so adorable 🥹

I hope everyone will eventually just have fun w it. I’ve decided I don’t care about my rank this month, just here for fun!

If I didn't have to do tome challenges to get the event rewards I would just play killer during the event and enjoy the snowmen but unfortunately to get the survivor cosmetics need to play survivor during the event. It's a bummer.

  • Snowmen seem unnecessary this year. Way people are playing can't really enjoy them. Try to go give a high five and you get hit out of them. Killers just seem super angry seeing them even though they can injure survivors in them and the can get BP for giving high fives in them.

Wish the gens gave everyone BP when they are finished so those stuck in a chase unable to touch a gen weren't losing out on event BP. Bummer missing out on BP and it just encourages people to chose staying on a gen instead of rescuing someone so they don't miss out on bonus BP.

Barely getting any event items in the bloodwebs.

Wish the challenges encouraged more relaxed attitudes for both sides like "hop in X snowmen" or "give x high fives" but instead "finish x gens" requires Survivors to be more gen focused which makes killers play more sweaty.

Overall pretty disappointing/meh event. I'm just going to get my challenges done for cosmetics and then play holiday event in different game.

  • I keep randomly getting signed out even though I selected the option to stay logged in. Kind of annoying.

I hope you get me! I brought everyone Ormond as Krampus Trapper for fun lol I Fr-pipped, but had some good laughs..so it was worth it 🙂

From a survivor thank you for doing that. I finally got a laid back killer, a Wesker hanging out in a snowman. He, myself, and another survivor spent majority of the match just goofing off in the snowmen while the other 2 were focusing on gens. Tried to get him to 2 hook me but only did the 1 hook. We spent probably an entire gen worth of time just high fiving for the snowflakes. 😂 I wish more matches were like that because they are way more fun than the sweaty matches.

I've been getting inside snowmen as killer trying to have fun with survivors, but they just wanna rush gens instead. So boring.

It's unfortunately the vicious circle. There aren't many killers playing like you, most are playing extra hard right now so the survivors are reacting by focusing on gens which make killers that would've relaxed play sweaty. There's nothing to encourage both sides to just relax during the event, if anything the challenges encourage the sweaty play style.

you sure? people had said bhvr had deactivated them a few weeks ago and hence the surge of DCs now.

That was just for playstation players because of the cursor error. They fixed that in the hot fix a couple days ago and turned the DC penalty back on for those players. DC penalty is on for everyone right now.

They are acting very lame..I stopped playing after 2 games.

I'm just going to complete the challenges for the cosmetics then play something else where the players don't seem so angry during what should be a lighthearted event. Bloodwebs barely have the event item anyway and the new winter cosmetics are exempt from their new shards after 4 weeks policy so it's not like I'm being incentivised to keep playing to earn BP and shards.

  • The killers seem so angry during this event meanwhile the survivors just want to high five in the snowmen. They should've made challenges for killers and survivors that were "enter x amount of snowmen" and "high five x players" in snowmen, maybe that'd help chill some people out.

  • I had this happen as survivor on ps4.
