I tried my best.
I managed to obliterate the previous record for largest Forum thread here, but I feel as if I accomplished precious little.
I really get what you mean on this post. I feel a severe lack of care when it comes to optimization on console. I'll check out the the links todamorrow.

We all do.
Ya know I wonder how many banned people still look at the forums without an account.
Probably a lot tbh. One doesn't simply leave the community. Even when kicked out the game itself lol.

That all depends on what's being discussed
It can be overly positive or overly negative
But in responses I get tend to be mostly positive... not that much negative
I am glad to hear that. I tend to get negative ones. But when I post, it usually is to discuss topics to get to the heart of big issues. I'm glad people are being kind.

Oh yes. Especially that loading screen. My playstation dies and revives every time it starts. Remember to take breaks on the forums and Orion is always with you. In there *points to your colon*

Well hi there....
Ummmmmm... let's see here.... I'm a Console player (Xbox) with over a thousand hours in game.... I play both sides but not evenly I tend to play Killer more (I am a Pig main but do play most of the other Killers)
I do like the verity of killers but don't like the lackluster updates they do get
I don't like the DH validation and am in one of those threads talking about it
OH and the Lightborn issue (apparently there is one) Where someone is acting like a little kid saying it's not fair
I do try to be friendly but oh man............
What kind of responses do you get when discussing with others on here? Not to sound coy. I just like to get down into the nitty gritty.

If I could decide that, picking a head would be way easier! 🤣
Well we can figure it out together. When your Spirit walks in the room, do you want the survivors to go "oooh, nu it's a Spirit!" Or "Yaaaas gurl Spirit!" "Or "OH *Censored* A SPIRIT?!"

The Lightborn issue is stemed from Entitled Survivor players that want to "have fun" blinding the Killer at every pallet and every pick up
Yea there are things that the Killer can do to prevent getting blinded but (Bad Word)
And I don't mind DH being a thing though I just wish that we got real validation not just soaking up hits
Ahhh so it's the troller survivors that we all know and love lol. I don't use Dead Hard due to not wanting to be "that survivor." But that's my own insecurity.

We hopefully you will surpass them; and they'll challenge you one day to a forum debate of sorts.

Nice! I'm a PS4 player myself. I feel the Light orb issue is a weird meme of sorts. But I haven't gotten the full argument. I feel Dead Hard by itself is a bit ridiculous. I personally feel too much importance is put in perks in general.

How do you even know you are stuck at low MMR, we don't even know what our MMR is.
Frankly we don't even know if it actually exists BHVR could just be randomly matching games up and just telling us there's MMR.
You can tell by the level of players you are with/against. Once I started "being toxic" and winning consistently, it got better over time. A lot of matches were needed, but it got consistently better. Just because we aren't explicitly told, we've all been here long enough to tell.

Until someone starts crying that exhaustion perks in general are OP and shouldn't be in the game (I've seen certain youtuber like that, I won't name him because of my despise for him) xD
No, but like seriously - each exhaustion perk helps with different situation, no perk is universal, no perk works in every situation. When you're running in corn Balanced Landing won't help you, but Dead Hard will. If you're on Haddonfield, most likely Dead Hard won't be much help, but Balanced Landing will be borderline OP.
I wouldn't say fully universal, but Dead Hard does apply to many situations overall. I don't run it, but I see the frustrations/love with/for it. I think it's in the same boat as my trusty We'll make it, only worse. Most of the time, it applies, but when it doesn't help, it shows.
The streamer you mentioned sounds truly talented. I wonder if I've watched him before.

Im not experiencing any consistency in MM, as Killer or Survivor, which I play 50/50.
Im mediocre at best, at either (in my own assesment).
I only play one Survivor character, always, but several Killers, and there too is no seeming causality to MM.
Im perplexed by people reporting that they are consistently up against noobs or pros, whereas my matches on both sides seem to have no matchmaking whatsoever, just whatever was available thrown into it (including me).
In the same hours of play Ill go up against bully SFW on voice that know every dirty trick in the book and network them, then gaggles of solo-qers that have barely 100hrs between them listed on Steam (and it shows ingame). Also Killers that know my every move, and those that clearly are nowhere near knowing what they are doing yet.
But its the lack of any middle ground there that is most apparent. Those above happen far more frequently than what "feels" like a well-matched, match.
That's very odd indeed. Both killer and survivor have been pretty consistent for me on both ends. Especially once I got it higher. But then again, it's behaviour.

The only thing I can think of is maybe to wait for your teammates to die and then camp the door and take a gamble that you can open it after the killer kicks hatch? I do think it's a weakness of the system that you need a gate escape in order to rank up, since being able to open the gates depends on lot on what the other players do.
I ended up just being as "toxic" as can be until the killer just DC'd or stopped trying altogether. I wasn't a fan of it. But it did work without having to quit myself.

The way BHVR has coded the SBMM makes it impossible to go out of low and average MMR even if you are a god survivor. The increase of your MMR is relying too much on what your random teammates are doing.
But don't worry, at high MMR, there are also total potatoes that have nothing to do at this level, resulting in terrible trials. Even when the killer is average, you cannot win a single trial as your random teammates are falling in 10 seconds and if you hold the killer for 2 minutes, there is barely one gen popping.
SBMM should evaluate the player performance only, how long did he/she hold the killer, when not in chase, did he/she does point saving or doing gens etc... harder to code but way more accurate.
It's funny that it's so hard to track that considering the points system that already exists in the game. (Albeit not perfect) but way more accurate than just. Well this person lived!

I don't know if you have found a solution yet but now that DC penalties are off keep in mind. DC = 0 MMR lost. So if you know what to do you will only win MMR...
I ended up bullying the killers into just stopping altogether and forcing the wins. I hated it. I felt like I just added to an already existing problem within the game.

Ah, the mystery box that is hidden MMR. People can think they're high mmr or low mmr, and no one can prove they aren't.
Come on now. You've probably played DbD more than long enough to tell the difference between good and bad players. In dbd it is pretty obvious.

Why do you care about the ranking system tho?
It's not the ranking itself. It's being able to play the game at a level that is not too easy and having the ability to achieve that.
-
@Lawlichan said:
seems like a skill issue (I'm joking of course, MMR is hell)
Clearly I need to level up. I need to learn how to run the killer whilst doing gens; heal everyone at once; and open the door when I'm the only person left. XD

Don't forget people that claim to "deserve" to be high MMR, but for some darn reason they never seem to make it. Naturally, it's all due to their teammates. Those are my favourite.
Trust me when I say this. I get it people always blame others for said problems. But I am not blaming my team for this. They are new. New survivors typically fall for things new killers use. But, I am a not new survivor. I would like to be back with the usual level I play with.

My advice: stop giving a fk about mmr. Why would you want sweater games? Play to have fun. I think if i got into a 5 gen chase it would be fun. Wouldnt matter if i got out. Thats just me tho. Fun > mmr
It's not about the ranking. It's about being able to actually enjoy the experience. Win or lose, the killers I face are just boring. They haven't learned how to be creative and because of a terrible design, I'm having to claw the way out of it.

But what fun is it if the 5 gen chase wasn't against a good player? At that point, where is the game? That's like an adult saying "I am so tough. I beat up 4 8-year olds." I am not saying I want campers. I'm saying I'd rather not be stuck playing on Easy Mode and forever be stuck there.

One weak link is all it takes to ######### over a team.
I'm bad but smart, I know that if the Killer finds me the match is basically over.
A weak link can do that. You are correct. But I have faith in you. It'll all come together so long as you don't give up. And remember you can always come to the forums and post a long thread venting your first world problems. You know, like this one.

From what i understand from the MMR system, didn't they run it for already a few month before implementing it? If that's the case, the system isn't the reason you are with newer player; it's either that you didn't play enough during that time, you got unlucky result during their "experimenting time" or you aren't as good as you think you are, the third option being the least likely since you said you can run the killer for quite some time.
If my information is wrong then refer to the other comments for helpfull tips.
The testing, yes. But the MMR that was in the test was not the same as what we've been given.

MMR hell is definitely a thing in this game. BHVR completely misses the point in how they grade survivors. Survivors often escape *because* of the actions of other players, and many times one player carries the team for 5 gens and dies. The players who did gens or hid gain MMR and the player who ran the killer for 5 gens is stuck.
I wish I could say it gets better, but the MMR algorithm is so stupidly basic to the point that it equates immersing/not touching gens and escaping to actually playing well and escaping. My survivor MMR is high enough that I get killers I know from the comp scene, and I still get sub 300 hr teammates who self-care in corners and hide all game.
It desperately needs nuance. But it was never meant to improve the experience for vets. They already have our money. The point of MMR is to give the players we're complaining about in this thread teammates like us.
Precisely. By the way, do you go by Edgarpoop on dbd? I am almost certain we've played together several times. (Most, if not all the time, successfully). You know...before the March on Coruscant.
-
It will suck for a while my friend. But it's kind of a blessing in disguise. You'll have partners who know what they are doing. And playing alongside them will help you learn on the maps themselves in real time. You'll be making "How I got here," montages one day.
-
Maybe I should have elaborated a little bit more. I didn't want to make you all read an essay. I already know how the system of MMR works. I have played the game for years. I know how to stay alive and do generators.
Trust me, the typical tricks are well known. I am looking for a few more out of the box ideas. I appreciate the comments so far. But I've done it.
Maybe I just need a buddy or two.

You need to learn to be selfish. Once all gens are done dont help anyone.
Higher mmr = go through the gate (do not use hatch).
If they dont do gens, do them yourself, die as last one if possible to lose less mmr. There is no other solutions to avoid bad players.
I understand that already. But one person can only do so much. I understand fully how the system works. I have changed the priority of my play on all fronts. Full run, regular, gen jockey-ing? I play for myself always. But there's no out the gate if the gate never comes.
-
@vacaman said:
What you have to do is tryhard as much as you can and when the last gen pops go right to the gate and ignore any teammates hooked, do not risk anyting and eventually you will leave mmr hell.
I have been. But even that doesn't work if your teammates can't last long enough to make it in time. Even with Kindred, they are stagnant. It's worse than I remembered. I thought we were all gen jockeys at birth. This experience has proven me wrong.
