  • The Entity will only give the mark to someone that it views as a threat.

  • This is what BHVR has said on the official Dead By Daylight Reddit:

    Screenshot_20240809-182002_Reddit.jpg

So it seems plausible that it will become permanent at some point in the future, eventually.

I've watched the Survivor Trilogy and yes i know of the Yaaxil, it doesn't change the fact that it is still an action adventure IP and not a horror IP, nor is the Survivor trilogy itself advertised as horror.

Nor is Dungeons & Dragons, or Rainbow Six Siege. Horror is subjective. What one person finds scary another will laugh at.

Tomb Raider is far from the most disappointing chapter and 100% deserves a place in the game.

Trickster is still a horror character and that's reflected in all from lore to his mannerism in game, he's as much horror as Norman Bates and Patrick Bateman is horror and him being kpop or colorful doesn't change or exclude him from being that, as horror can be colorful and non-conventionally.

Dungeons & Dragons can be excused because it's a game engine to be whatever you want it to be and the devs went with a horror setting and very horror-esque killer.

Tomb Raider is not a horror IP nor is it even remotely horror-adjacent as the scary elements the main focus of the IP, exploring tombs and old ruins is, same way how Lara is only a Survivor, not than a horror Survivor. The IP is closer to that of Indiana Jones and Uncharted than it is to horror.

Have you played the Survivor Trilogy? Getting shipwrecked on a remote island by a powerful supernatural entity, then being hunted down by an insane cult that is doing everything it can to kill you and your friends, seems pretty horrifying to me. You probably haven't even heard of the Yaaxil..

That's fair. I do hate how inconsistent the charm sizes are. Some are super tiny, some are huge (the dear mask one comes to mind). I wish they would just find a middle ground and standardize it across all charms.

    Would be for the best!

Definitely Myers. I say that because the force that animates the body of Michael Myers is NOT the boy. It is something else, ancient callous and evil. It "is" the boogeyman. It isn't driven by trivial matters and suddenly becomes active over long periods of time, if/when it feels like it. In that respect it is not unlike Pennywise which might be active for awhile and then go dormant for decades. The motivations and victims chosen are at random, perhaps or perhaps not.

My point is Myers chose to enter the Entity's domain. The door was open, Myers recognized what it was, and didn't care. it walked in willingly and one would presume if/when it wants it could leave too. You have to be careful about what you invite inside your front door. The force that animates Michael Myer's body, like Pennywise, might very well be a cosmically powerful, alien entity itself. Like several other such potentates, Myers kills whenever he wants to do so and is not reliant on the Entity's permission.

I say Myers because we still, to this very day, don't know what is behind the eyes of Michael Myers and in that "not knowing" there is an iceberg of which we can only see the tip.

Myers is at the very least superhuman. Seemingly possessing incredible strength and the ability to teleport. This is why I don't like some slasher films, because the killers always have INSANE plot armour (Jason "cough" "cough"), but your theory would justify it.

Still, even if a weaker killer, such as a Demogorgon, encountered Myers, it would probably rip him to shreds without any trouble, unless he is actually some immortal entity.

Because survivors can still do so many things and there is enough way to waste time of killers, and chasing together generally wastes more time in finding survivors

If you ONLY look at the chase of course it's faster, but game isn't just about SINGLE chase

It's only efficient when killer gets looped, so basically a help for new players, trying to counter such a strategy never makes sense

Generally in my experiences, the killers are usually split up, then when one of them starts a chase, the other will swiftly run over to help end it quickly. Then they disperse again, both looking for survivors and repeat. It seems to work well for them.

  • @YamamuraVideoRentals said:

Honestly two killers taking 10 seconds to down one survivor is a lot better than the killers splitting up and getting looped, each taking 1 minute+ to down a survivor or giving up entirely.

It's mainly down to killer skill vs survivor skill, but killers teaming up greatly compensate for it. Meanwhile, while it's easy to say survivors blast gens and every chase needs to be 15 sec or less or they lose, not everyone is perfect and has perfect knowledge.

Finally someone that understands. Some people don't seem to realise that 2 killers chasing together is way more efficient than splitting up. Like, how isn't it?

You are adding endurance and it'll rob more seconds from both killers, so endurance is effectively working against entire killer team, you are literally asking for same thing as team wide expose, that's how ridiculous how your suggestion is

Not like any of the power or addons are as strong as survivor counterpart, too, they are equivalent or worse version of perks/addons in normal mode, unlike survivor power which is FAR better version of survivor perks

Calling the mode "balanced" is plain wrong, if both side has same skill in normal matches survivors will win 100% of the time in 2v8 due to sheer imbalance in it's core features, it's only balanced by survivors not even trying to win

Exactly. The Endurance will rob the killers of more of their time, which is precisely the idea. Survivors being chased by 2 killers are essentially exposed, so the basekit Overcome and Endurance effect (which would ONLY be there while in a chase with BOTH killers), will make the survivor a bit more difficult to down and potentially discourage the killers from chasing together. Everyone is saying that apparently killers are at a disadvantage if they chase together, so this should surely help them by encouraging one to break chase and instead patrol gens.

The only 2 notably good survivor powers is the shared Sprint Burst and Scout aura reading. Everything else is just OK. Killers get plenty of aura reading too in this mode, enough to mitigate the survivors' ability to use stealth effectively. They literally have basekit Nowhere To Hide.

2v8 is perfectly balanced, according to a developer on the forums, with an equal win rate of exactly 50% for both sides.

Although interesting, future iterations of 2v8 should probably scrap the powers and killer synergies in favour of perks. People would probably just be happier that way.

Vecna is wise enough to understand why the Seal is there. Vecna knows therefore that he has powers even The Entity knows is dangerous, but most of all Vecna has time. All the time in the multiverse.

Yeah, The Entity is definitely cautious of Vecna. I imagine it would feel the same way about the Deadlights (Pennywise).

It's true. There's no reason there shouldn't be 10 gens in this mode and some survivor powers are strong compared to the killers'.

Yet core survivor mechanics, such as stealth, are almost completely negated in this mode, as their auras are being constantly revealed. Also, survivors are essentially exposed when both killers are chasing them, as they can double hit.

2v8 may be more balanced if the powers and loudouts are replaced by perks. Yet the mode is apparently already balanced, with a perfect 50% win rate for both sides.

It could be mind control but I’m not sure. Vigo created the hatch which the entity didn’t want to happen I don’t think so he would be an example. Unless the entity secretly wanted it to happen.

I'm not sure. Vigo must certainly be somewhat powerful if he can do things like that. Maybe he will be a playable survivor one day?

As a Killer I actually approve of this idea, the way I envision this is that Survivor can do this once or twice until they are hooked twice. Though i don't think Survivors need the endurance, haste and Killer aura.

The Endurance would just be there to help out in case the Killer is 'humping' you, or camping. That way you can get some distance from them when they hit you, be a little bit faster and see their aura for a while to help in chase.

  • @Anniehere said:

By looking at the game in its early years, the original characters designed to be average people, and the base concept were survival with minimal resources. Along with the lore, the Entity's primary motivation is to manipulate and torment them. Making it nearly impossible for survivors to effectively defend themselves.
From a gameplay perspective, it requires balance and additional coding for each individual ability. Which is not easy to make and can cost extra money.
They may have taken this into account after or before they added characters like Bill Overbeck. And probably with no choice or by choice, the decided to leave the game as it was in the first place, and they gave them all the same mechanics.
You can look at this world as a 'hell' and not as a physical world that you can trust, because it is a world that changes and a world that is controlled by an Entity with supernatural powers. I don't think a policeman or a soldier can be himself in front of such a powerful being, they are pretty much helpless.

    Yeah this makes sense.

  • I actually quite like your idea, but honestly (unpopular opinion), I think they should just do this: Basekit Unbreakable at least once per Trial and if you fully recover yourself, you get 20 seconds of endurance, 7% haste and see the Killer's Aura.

Killers moan about this kind of idea, saying basekit Unbreakable would be way too strong and unfair.

Really? More unfair than having to just lie on the floor for 4 minutes (240 seconds) straight? "BuT ThERe's sITuAtIOnS wHeRE wE hAVe tO sLUg!". No, there's not. There is never a situation where you absolutely 100% must slug instead of hooking.

    Just an idea. 😀

  • I like the idea of Outfit Charms, but they're just so small, you can barely even see them and I'll forget they're even there. Hook Charms are much bigger and clearly visible, so they're cool. I guess right now I prefer Badges and Banners over Charms, because you actually get to see them a lot more, but if they increased the size of Outfit Charms, I'd pick them.

It's apart of the rules for the trial. I don't think anything actually hurts any of the killers. A pallet wouldn't hurt nemesis. Nor would DS. But the entity allows the survivors to make certain weapons and makes it stun the killer so that way the survivor can get away and increase the hope of the survivor, thus giving the entity more food since it feeds on emotions. I would assume Survivors don't have a choice where to stab the killer. Just like how they all can just repair generators despite never having worked on them before.

Everything that happens in the trial only happens because the entity allows it. With the exception of hatch as that was created by Vigo and not meant to exist. Survivors don't actually fight back fully because they can't. Otherwise Leon would be going sicko mode.

Ah okay I understand. I wonder if there was ever a survivor that could resist The Entity's mind control?

It's just as drastic as 1 survivor receiving endurance because you are wasting two killer's effort at once, survivor don't deserve any kind of compensation because game is already extremely tilted towards survivors by 20 seconds AOE sprintburst, scout aura view, 2 less gens to do than basegame, cage "anti tunneling", all that

If game was actually balanced or fair as normal games it MIGHT makes sense, but it's not, survivors are already compensated by ridiculous powers and mechanics, there is absolutely no reason to punish killers for their teamwork

Both killers chasing a survivor does not waste any of their time, as they'll get the down in about 5 seconds. It's actually more effective.

Killers in this mode also get regular aura reading and a variety of abilities, such as being Undetectable if they're near a Wraith.

The mode is actually pretty balanced. It's just whichever team is better sided.

  • @Neaxolotl said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3774467#Comment_3774467

if like 90% of players in a team is a literally does nothing they don't deserve a win in slightest, game should be balanced around those who actually plays the game, not those who messing around without using any brain

With your logic, killers must get instant hit because there is a situation where one killer is afk or extremely useless nurse, just so single wraith can win against 8 players who are actually playing

Of course those kind of balancing will results in unwinnable game against actually competent opponent, definitely stupid way to balance in PvP games

All survivors being exposed because a killer's AFK is a little bit more drastic than 1 survivor receiving Endurance for being chased by both killers at the same time.

Survivors deserve a little compensation if they're being chased by 2 killers, regardless of if other players are actually repairing gens or not. Basekit Overcome and Endurance is a fair treatment, as otherwise, being chased by both killers will result in you being caged within 10 seconds.

People are saying that it's bad if 2 killers chase a single survivor, because other survivors will just gen rush (which is mostly false). Well, if the killers that always chase together knew that it's harder to down a survivor they're both chasing, maybe one of them would actually leave to patrol gens instead, like everyone seems to recommend for them.

How many hours you have? You could be in low mmr in normal mode but 2vs8 does not have mmr so you can face players of any skill level. What killers you and your teammate play? What playstyle do you spread pressure or stay together?

My experience has been very different. My worst game was 4-5 hooks in this mode but I played badly I was just off. Most games I have won getting 6-8 kills. Mostly I play with friends but I have done some soloQ too and even that's mostly been success and debends if my mate is decent.

Well I have won even with some baby killers but I say it's too hard to win 1vs8 in this mode if your teammate can't get anything going. One game I had 16 hooks but we still lost...

I'm kinda new, I started the game some time around late November last year and probably have 500 - 1000 hours, maybe more. As survivor I can usually make it to Gold 3 before the grade reset and Silver 2 for killer. I play on console so I struggle to do things such as 360s. I'm almost always never in direct communication to my killer teammate, so I don't ever really know what they're up to. Anyway, I changed my stance on this mode recently and kinda decided this: 2v8 is whichever team is better sided.

2 OK killers vs 8 SWF? Survivors win 9/10.

2 good killers vs 8 OK survivors? Killers win 9/10.

1 bad and good killer vs 4 bad and good survivors? I don't know, depends.

2 killers that chase together vs 8 survivors of any skill level? Killers win 99% of the time. Killers that chase together remove every survivor from the match so fast you'll wonder what even happened.

You knew the game mode was extremely survivor sided just from looking at numbers, two killers can only do so much when survivors got literally anything they need with much fewer objective

As long as survivors simply do gens, pretty much any killers simply can't catch up, only strategy that barely works is tunneling

Some dev put out a thing on the forums a few days ago, with statistics of the 2v8 mode. Apparently the win rate for both sides is EXACTLY 50%, which I find very hard to believe.

  • Yeah I've wanted this since the beginning. I think they should make it like Ghostface though, where you have a reduced terror radius if you're crouched, or just no terror radius. 😈

Then all you need is skill based matchmaking, not basekit mechanics

I mean "my teammates are ridiculously incompetent so please make it possible to win with survivors who don't do gens at all", is rather ridiculous statement

I'm pretty sure everyone can agree that 'skill based matchmaking' doesn't work in this game. What you have said still doesn't address the main issue of this post, which is how being chased by both killers = dead in 10 seconds. Unless you are an insane survivor. Everyone keeps saying "If both killers are chasing you then all the other survivors will gen rush!". Haha, I wish. Like I said, MOST of the time none of my teammates are doing gens. Why? I don't know, not my problem. All my matches lately both killers chase together because I think they've started to realise that this is actually more effective. Run to a loop, you'll get cornered. Caught out in the open? You're done. They don't have to worry about chase time, because the chases don't even last 10 seconds. They'll just move from one gen to the next, killing any and all survivors that were there pretty much instantaneously. So yeah, taking into account that survivors seem to be doing anything but gens and killers are just sweeping the floor with us, I think a little Endurance would be nice.

  • @Devil_hit11 said:

generator are… 70 seconds in this mode? 3 survivor on a generator is 23.33 seconds. you lose a generator every 23 seconds. every chase needs to be 15 second long or less.

Most matches my teammates aren't even doing gens. I swear they're having a party somewhere or something.. 😭

  • @Rickprado said:

The counterplay: 7 people doing gens. If 2 killers commit to a single chase, even for 30s, they will probably lose the match. Its an assymetrical game, you shouldn't be able to 1v1, and even less to 1v2.

Even against Nurse and Huntress I think its fun to try to survive when they double trying to get me down hahaha

It's kinda fun but they'll both just get you in 10 secs 😭

  • I feel the complete opposite. During the first week of 2v8, I was winning almost every round as survivor, usually without being downed. Killers would give up chase after 20 seconds, survivors would absolutely gen rush and it just felt so easy to win as survivor. Likewise, I played as killer and it felt impossible to win. The past few days however, every killer seems like they have 5000+ hours in the game. They're all so sweaty, tunnel, chase together and end most chases within 15 seconds. What happened?

I made these perks for a survivor I made, her name is Victoria Zhu and her perks kind of reflect on her helpful and badass personality, shes also a famous model, here they are:

    Saving Grace

Your fans are in need of help, saving them encourages you to stay alive so you can support them further.

Whenever you unhook another survivor safely, gain a token, up to a maximum of 3 tokens.

Whenever you end up becoming injured by any means, consume a token, gain a 5% haste,
and your scratch marks, pools of blood, grunts of pain, and footstep sounds are suppressed
    for 15 seconds.

    Stunning Icon

Your days as a model has gained you some ways to dazzle your audience more frequently.

Whenever you are in chase for a total of 60 seconds, Stunning Icon Activates.

The next stun caused by a pallet will increase the killers stun duration by an
additional 3 seconds, and they are also blinded for the duration of the stun.

    The perk then deactivates.

    Runway Tampering

Sometimes a different theme on the runway will make things more interesting.

After you repair a total of 60% worth of repair progress, Runway Tampering activates.

Whenever you go into a locker, press the active ability 1 button to create a Fog Thrower,
press the active ability button 2 to throw the Fog Thrower down, releasing a wave of black
fog in a 28 meter range for 60 seconds, hindering anyone's vision who enters.

Whenever the killer or the survivors are in the fog's range, they gain the following effects:

    • The survivors leave no scratch marks, grunts of pain, pools of blood, and footstep sounds.
    • The killer gains the undetectable status effect, their breathing and footstep sounds are suppressed, and they gain a 10% haste.
    • Both the survivors and killer gain the Blindness status effect if they are in the fog.

Runway Tampering then deactivates, and the fog clears after the duration ends

These are all such good concepts! Actually the other day I was thinking to myself that it would be good if they added a smoke grenade type item similar to a flashbang.

  • I'm 99% sure that even if you buy an online game, like Dead By Daylight, you still need Xbox Live Gold to actually play, as it's a requirement to access multiplayer features on most games. The only exception to needing Xbox Live Gold is (as far as I'm aware), for free games like Fortnite (Fortnite is free whether you own Game Pass Ultimate or not).

Unfortunately for you, even though you bought it, you can only play Dead By Daylight if you also have an Xbox Live Gold subscription, because the entire game is multiplayer. I don't know for sure and I may be wrong, but perhaps you could play custom games or the tutorial without an Xbox Live Gold subscription, as technically they're not multiplayer, but I'm not sure.

It's easy for people to get confused with this topic, especially if they own/owned Game Pass Ultimate, as Dead By Daylight appears 'free' to install. Xbox Live Gold is included in Ultimate and Ultimate gives you access to lots of games for 'free', including DBD. However, if you cancel your Ultimate subscription, or switch to Xbox Live Gold, you will lose your ability to install DBD for 'free' and the only way to play it would be to purchase it. But like I said before, even if you purchase it, you still need Xbox Live Gold to play it.

Hope this clears everything up! 😁

  • I personally think it's a good change because before you could only get 2-3 chemical traps per game if you were lucky. The 120 second duration was also just completely unnecessary because you only need to place a chem trap whilst in a chase at a loop. Some killers I faced would actually loop the loop for the full 120 second duration instead of just breaking the pallet 🤦. So yeah a 60 second duration seems more fair, especially with the new shorter 20% requirement. Overall, chemical trap seems like it will be in a much better place after this update.
