You don't need to master all his tricks that constitute his high skill ceiling.
If anything, the main reason he's such a consistent S tier killer is because you just need to know how to flick and sometimes hug tech to excel. Of course knowing when to use power, how to use it at loops, etc matters but these are just killer skills you gain by playing the game and playing Blight. You get 5 bumps, which is pretty generous, so you'll be fine.
People that just use his power to catch up and get a hit between loops do fine in many of their games.
So, no his skill floor is pretty low. And his skill ceiling matters little if you want great results. Still good to improve on him of course, but not necessary to be an expert.
-
He can definitely use some buffs. At the very LEAST in the addon category. Like seriously, almost all of them are garbage. And somehow they managed to nerf Marvin's blood, the ONLY good addon.
I love the suggestions, but we all know these won't happen. Nemesis is popular and good enough to not warrant a rework. I mean some killers desperately need one and they haven't been touched.
Minor POSSIBLE changes would be:
T3 tentacle can now hit both pallets and survivors, and can hit through survivors. While this does make camping stronger, which is bad, it does essentially give him a powerful engame tool and this character is all about becoming stronger and stronger until the end of the game. T3 should also damage survivors whether they're infected or not. But in exchange is should be made a bit harder to reach.
T1 should be quick to get out of, he is just SO bad early game it's actually unfun. Or just remove it, it's as useless as Myers' T1.
T2 is honestly fine as it is.
I REALLY wish we could get a rocket launcher, but it'll unfortunately always be dreams.
I have no trust in making Zombie AI better so I won't even suggest anything there. I don't think being able to place them is a good idea as it'd just make Nemmy a more annoying Knight.

Are you not taking it personally? Pot calling kettle black. Maybe he just caps and tunnels because he feels he needs to in order to have a chance at winning?
Making a remark doesn't mean taking it personally. Nor does facecamping/tunnelling mean taking it personally.
OP is likely noticing that Killers get more aggressive when survivors do normal plays that they take offense over. It does happen, I can safely say I've had over ten games where I got slugged to death because I Head-On'd a killer. Some of them probably took it personally, some others may have wanted pressure that they lost after eating the flashy. But I have no doubt both are valid, because let's face it a lot of people that play this game are pretty damn delicate.

You're wasting your time with your comments, his cliche takes on the game shows me he's not experienced yet in this game and just goes with mainstream ideas that are shown in this forum.
Everyone and their daugther knows about the SM problem and people who deny it just are lucky enough to never play against one of the hunderds who play like that with this killer.
True. SM got on my nerves recently so I was in one of those moods regarding that character. I know full well no one in their right mind actually thinks SM is fine.
-
No. Loads of people do silly content on youtube that fit what you're describing. It's potentially reportable if a survivor teams up with a killer to sabotage the team. Even then I've yet to see any ban for this. People do farming matches all the time, so you're probably fine.

Getting big 'I personally was fine with Old DS and MoM' vibes from these sorts of threads. In a year we'll look back at them with a grin.

Why do you respect SM power so much?
Why cant you loop her?
As far as I know she is an extremely weak m1 killer, plaything for survivors.
But for some reason her drones are very well respected, yet survivors has no issue going vs plague, with 1 health, or has no issue, against Legion with 1 health.
But ohhh SM is too much, i really dont get it.
She has no power, outside making you exposed, and seeing you.
M1 loop her, dont fear the exposed lol.
Do gens, but hey easier to say, remove her, make her Myers basekit without exposed.
I really dont understand survivors
I don't.
It requires her chasing me. Most do not.
She is. A weak killer doesn't automatically mean fun, nor does strong mean unfun. I love Wesker, I hate Trapper. And yet one is strong and one is pure garbage.
What do you mean by respect? She doesn't commit to chases so deactivating the drone doesn't cause any problems and prevents an insta-down if she ever gets the jump on you with her undetectable.
What do you mean by 'too much'? She's miserable to play again. I can guarantee wins every match against her with a SWF. But guess what? These matches still last 20 minutes. Yes, 20 minutes, on a good SWF. Imagine how bad it sucks in the average public match.
She has the power to aggressively control an area. The exposed opens a survivor to being quickly slugged if they ever dare to commit to a gen for more than 10 seconds. I don't think you're capable of connecting the individual issues to draw the bigger picture. It's concerning.
How do you loop a killer that abandons chase five seconds in?
People do gens. The problem is it takes 20+ minutes on a good team. Nobody is saying she's strong. People are saying she's complete garbage design.
I really don't understand how this is difficult for you to grasp. Even the diehard killer main content creators admit she's total crap.

Bait thread. Like seriously people aren't even trying anymore.

Skull Merchant isnt even very strong, but survivors love to complain about everything.
Every killer must be the same, and has no powers, only allowed which can be taken away by survivors.
I love how you're dismissing the issue with some irrelevant, cookie-cutter and barely thought out us vs them response. It becomes worrying when ChatGPT can probably provide a far more insightful response than a human could.
SM is an exceptionally unpleasant experience for the survivor side, and barely any fun for most killer players since she's virtually useless without her 3-gen strat. Just because some some edge case survivors complain about everything doesn't mean the SM issue is invalid nor that most survivor players think anything close to what you've said.
-
I had my Skull Merchant cherry popped today on both sides.
Yeah I hate her the most both to go against and to play. It's beyond abysmal.
Runner ups: Nurse, Legion, Spirit (Actually don't mind playing her), Twins (Same, Vic is fun), Knight, Hag, Trapper.
Varying degrees of dislike. Most I think are 'fine', but the gameplay just sucks so much.
-
I think the problem is that people would rather DC against things that ritualistically bring them misery. Waiting in lobby is more fun for them than dealing with how a good majority of players that use these killers play. Like, let's be real, there's also a pandemic of completely awful gameplay unprepared teams cannot deal with.
That said people also DC for nothing. I'm not going to excuse crybabies. I am, however, going to emphasize that an increased number of people DC'ing while the penalty is up indicates bad game health. Or just a phase after a substantial change has been implemented. Give it a week and if things are back to normal, then it was the latter. If things persist, it's the former.
I would love it if the means to make the game miserable for one side or the other were severely gimped. It'd be way more enjoyable.
-
Because it feels better to denigrate your opponent by remarking on the lack of skill they need compared to yourself when you complain about balance/power roles in this game. It's a bad argument tool from bad faith actors. Both sides can be very competitive or very casual, with both sides demanding skill if they wish to thrive at the higher level. In no universe does a Wraith player require more skill than a survivor outplaying a Blight or Nurse.
-
No. Because I'm decent at the game.

In tournaments there are rules to be followed.
In pubs there are no rules so you see map offerings, insta heals, 4 Dead Hard …
Some of them are unrestricted. And yet killers still win. There was an analysis of a tournament like that on this forum.
That said in public games killers are not restricted too, while in tournaments a lot of them have limited addons and even perk combos (see DMS + Pain Res for Artist). You cannot argue in good faith without acknowledging this.
That said, tournament players with restrictions will almost always outperform unrestricted public gamers. So ultimately, if your skill level matches your opponent's and you're not playing a dogshit killer, you very much have a chance to win. I'd wager even a good chance if you're very 'tactical'.

So Suupaalf etc can be cited when arguing for nerfing nurse but those guys arent an argument for tweaking survivors?
Double standard or am i just being a killermain? Lol.
Well, Supaalf ran around stomping public games for over 500 games. This video shows people playing in a competitive setting with the best of the best.
That said, people also said that survivor should be nerfed based on Hens' comp team going for some streak. Which, mind you, didn't last even half the games Alf won, and yet it had team Eternal members in it.
To be totally transparent, Hens' team did have restrictions while Alf had no such thing. Maybe they could do as much as Alf without restrictions. But ultimately, both are bad examples.
-
I like him. Beats facing the usual suspects.
His only issue is how easy it is to tunnel an infected. Because a lot of Wesker players in public games are unusually bad, however, that tend to be a more frequent experience than I would like, yeah. Beyond that I love playing as him and facing him.

Uhhh. There are maybe 3 killer's with the potential to deal with extremely well coordinated teams. If you really think Wesker, Oni and Artist have the ability to deal with a efficient comp teams, you are simply wrong. If there are no killers in the game that can contest them whatsoever that's just awful game design.
It's not a cope, they simply don't have the capability to deal with these teams. Nurse has 80%+ of her power in base kit while being disgustingly strong, Blight has maybe half of his max power level in basekit and his disgusting add-ons bring him up to Nurse level.
I don't think Nurse in general is fair or Blights top 2 add-ons are fair but one sides top power level can't far exceed the others. If you disagree with me on that point unparticular, then all I can do is laugh in your face.
Except they do. There have been tournaments with very little limitations where Artist, Wesker and Oni WON against some of the best teams in the WORLD.
Actually, in the case of Artist, she was the one that was limited in terms of perks for a brief period. Pain Resonance and DMS were so oppressive on her in competitive that the combination was banned.
I don't understand why people bring up the 'competitive' argument when they have no idea how it even works. The killers you mentioned are viable even without many/any restrictions.
I kind of have to agree with the personal cope thing said earlier. It feels like people's shortcomings are being projected in a skill level they definitely do not have to feel better. It leads to a lot of misinformation and resentment.
EDIT: My opinion on the topic. Blight is likely untouched due to biases in development. Less so because the devs are 'mains' than probably because the dev that led this character's creation has since left the company and was widely respected. There's a good chance there's a lack of desire to change what was left. Although I'm 100% convinced there is seedy bias among decision makers since some killers get disproportionate buffs/nerfs compared to others.

Ask yourself how stacking 4 bnp, 4 toolboxes, 4 hyperfocus, 4 prove thyself, etc is a good idea for the game. I don't understand this double standards. Why killers can't stack 3-4 slowdowns while survs can stack lots of gen speed perks?
I don't understand this drive to do whataboutisms in this community. You'd think in an asymmetrical game it'd be a bit less common. But alas.
Just because people are arguing about the slowdown stacking doesn't mean they don't disagree with what you're saying. Calling out a double standard is just trying to get strong reactions at this point.
The obscene gen rush build stacking is stupid, yes, and I personally think gen speed increase perks need to be heavily limited or removed, just as I think gen regression should be kept very tame or removed. The game should revolve less around slowing this game to a crawl and instead on skill and game sense. Fast gens should be countered by a killer that can get chases done fast and cripple teams efficiently.

I'd like it if they released a character and establish them to be LGBT from the getgo. I'm not a fan of retroactively applying it to characters to first make sure the character is liked. It's playing it safe in a way that makes me raise a brow the same way BMW selectively changes their logo to a rainbow one in social media accounts that aren't in the Middle East.
It's not like making such a character is a daring thing anymore. We've had massive franchises with characters like this, eg. Last of Us, Mass Effect, Fallout, Elden Ring, the new Harvest Moon games, etc. Not really a risky move to make these characters anymore so I don't understand the extremely corporate approach of withholding such aspects of characters from the start.
I'm ultimately indifferent either way. I've had my representation where it mattered already and I'm content with how those were handled. So long as the character is good, I'm fine with anything.

https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/372001/is-body-blocking-a-fair-technique
Survivors seem to think it's a fair technique when blocking killer from getting their hooks, so if that's fair..then yes, it is.
Sacrificing a health state to prevent a hook =/= Making it impossible to unhook no matter what the survivor does.
One side at least gets something out of this interaction, the other is completely screwed. This isn't fair in any way you spin it. This has been patched in the past, so this is definitely unintended.

How exactly is that a matter of map design? A killer for instance can simply block off the entrance to the basement by simply standing in one of the doorways. Map design still heavily favors survivors, there are far too many pallets and absurd loops to abuse. The entire basegame was designed with survivors in mind, killers will always be 2nd fiddle to the devs.
I have no idea what you mean by this. If you block off one doorway, there's almost always another doorway in. You cannot bodyblock the stairs unless you're the Twins, and they lose collision after a little bit.
The issue OP has is rare hooks that have only ONE way to get to them and are completely blocked by the killer just standing there. There was a similar issue in RPD's Library that happened very consistently. It was patched.
When it comes to map design, it does suck and killers have it bad a little more than survive. I will agree to this. But heavily favours? You can very easily three gen in most maps and win. I wouldn't call this heavily favouring.
Killers being 2nd fiddle to the devs has no basis in reality. It's actually ludicrous to say that a game that has 60% kill rate for one side is heavily favouring the losing side of that statistic. Sure, stats aren't all, but beyond that is your opinion. And it consists of you being fine with the maps screwing over survivors but are distressed that they do so to killer.

@Canas said:
Survivors get to bodyblock during endgame to guarantee their 4 man escape, meanwhile the killer isn't allowed to secure at least one kill by bodyblocking survivors from getting to the hook? Now that's a double standard.
The difference is you can work around this with killers powers/competent movement/not letting survivors get in such an advantageous position. Like seriously, how do you let them get away with this in endgame without blundering to extreme levels or playing way too nice?
In this case survivors can literally do nothing no matter their perks or skill level. This isn't a double standard, there is a clear robbing of player agency due to a failure in map design. One of many.
It's telling of your character when you complain about map design in one thread just a couple of days ago and now you're totally fine with killers taking advantage of clear, exploitable flaws in map design to secure effortless kills. You could at least TRY to be less transparent with your biases.

I've already identified this guy as a troll based on his weak responses, constant repetition even when the arguments were debunked or further information requested, refusal to directly acknowledge points and fall back on "well you guys said it's annoying and this is a horror game so that's the only points I'll talk about" and making things personal, yet pointing the finger at us for that aspect. I'm done engaging with him, in anything other than asking him to leave if this doesn't matter to him, lest this fall into an even further pointless circle.
Thank you for all of your reasonable (not just because we agree!) feedback on this thread and the attempts to shed light and reason on the topic. Regardless of what he said we are allowed to agree with each other without it being "mistaking your opinion for fact.", at the end of the day we can support each other in what we wish to happen in this game, regardless of the opinions of someone who seeks nothing more than a rise out of people.
"I don't find this a problem so neither should you", is an argument that could be made about literally anything, but is historically proven unhealthy, as this is a manipulative mentality and stance to have. Sure some people on this forum are ridiculous with their requests and are absolutely crybabies, but our request is genuinely reasonable and the solution already exists in the game. If we don't talk about what we find a problem, we all become sheep or a hivemind, and that is not a real humane community. We are allowed to disagree and that should never be challenged with a "I don't care though" if he didn't care, he would have been gone long ago. Him not caring does not mean we should not care too, his first comment on this thread ended with a "change your perspective" and his current last comment ended with a "I hope they don't change it because I think it's fine", as if he needed any more ways to say "My opinion is the only one that matters" That attitude needs to look itself in the mirror before telling others that they are mistaking opinion for fact.
Today BHVR announced the coming changes to the bloodweb people have asked for for ages, I guarantee this is something a small percentage of people "didn't see as an issue", but the majority definitely wanted the change, and this wasn't even something that actually impacts you inside the game at all. If nobody mentioned it, or those who did mention it were met with "well I don't care so neither should you" at every turn, this great change would not be coming soon. BHVR has been making great changes to this game over the last year that I've been playing.
He's arguing just for the sake of arguing, regardless of whether we agree with some of his points or not, and claims that to be a consistency issue. I don't think it's inconsistent at all to say, "Hey this is irritating to me when it absolutely changed the outcome of my game, but if there's times where the gen explodes and nothing comes out of it I really don't care that much about it in those moments", it's just admitting there is some of his claims I can agree with, even if we don't agree fully.
But I digress, it was made quite clear in his last reply to me what he seeks from us, and I'm done feeding the troll.
Unsure I'd qualify them as a Troll, they've posted too much on this forum for it to be the case. Likely more of a case that they want to haggle as many advantages as possible for their gameplay no matter how it affects others. It's abundantly common in anything asymmetrical. Especially in a game where you can get very high win rates by adopting specific playstyles, the notion of losing becomes very unpleasant and every benefit to your cause becomes righteous to avoid the dreaded losses.
That said they're entitled to those opinions even if they argue terribly.
On the subject of this thread, yeah totally agree, it's incredibly dumb. It feels like a 'win more' thing when I play killer. Must be unbelievably frustrating for the players.

As usual op puts killer perspective on game and is immediately inundated with toxic comments about their skill level.
If you can't be constructive and/or have a proper conversation then don't say anything.
Take your toxic/skill comments elsewhere and take a good hard look at yourself as to why you feel the need to bring down someone you don't agree with.
This is what's wrong with the dbf community
It might have something to do with demonstrably good players not having this experience and win games without feeling obligated to use these tactics too often. The only differentiating factor in this case is skill (and probably attitude I suppose). Hell, I'm not as good as those that make content but I wouldn't say I feel forced to camp and tunnel all the time. I still win more than I lose. If other people don't have this experience then I can only assume they're just less capable than I am.
That's not to say there aren't issues. But the game gives you more than enough to compensate.
