You're right on fun vs winning. I'm a fan of mastering underdogs, so my main is a p100 ghostie. Sure I could win more as a nurse, but I personally have fun by giving survivors a sweaty break and playing more thematically with some silly shenanigans. If survivors end up going sweaty, ill bring my A game, but if not, I find the game far more enjoyable to play in a "competitive with room for silly fun moments" way.
Just as two examples, here are two of my favorite moments
I have a match I recorded off someone's stream against me I was shocked. They thought I was playing sweaty but in reality it was the opposite and I wonder how many survivors think like this SWF. I believe it's these survivors who think killers are OP but also do killers get beat by these survivors and then complain survivor OP?I only got this because of the funny stuff they were saying in end game chat and promoting as a ttv.

DBD is definitely a "mistakes lose the match" kind of game. Perfectly played survivors are going to win. Perfectly played killere can still lose. The match at high mmr always comes down to the amount of mistakes the survivors make and the killer's ability to capitalize on them. Survivors have all the tools in the world to guarantee wins, but it's difficult to make perfect plays consistently. That's why we see some SWFs ha ing 200+ wins in a row - some survivors are just that good at the game. The reality is, the game really is survivor sided, but how easy it is to make mistakes as a survivor is what makes the game playable as a killer. While it's easy to say skill issue, the amount of knowledge and experience it takes to always win is so great, that it's not realistic for any average survivor to ever win consistently. Buffing survivors definitely helps the average survivors win more, but it also makes experienced survivors absolutely unstoppable (unless nurse/blight is in play - they legit are incredibly strong in good hands).
I can't find a survivor win streak that is public for proof of 200+ only one by hens is 173 while there is a public killer streak of 1947. At the end of the day a killer has a cap on their skill and 4 survivors have individual skills in game logic the killer to win will have to deal with all of them for a win. I'd think if you want to win (just like any other game you have to play the meta) which means play nurse/blight and A tier killers are also really strong. Playing for the soul purpose of winning and playing for fun are 2 different things for example playing nurse vs playing Leatherface these killers themselves have a cap if you want to win more Leatherface isn't what gets you there. Also having fun on any game is subjective. I'd never say skill issue id say lack of experience. It takes a killer less time to perfect their game than it does a working team of survivors.

I think you may have completely misread my comment. I said the exception is nurse and blight which always overperforms at high mmr and needs to be nerfed. That's also why it's almost always those two at high mmr and especially competitions since the other killers become less and less viable at high mmr.
So I wanna compare this game to Evolve which is where my mentality comes from having played it from 2015-2021 and playing in it's comp scene. In terms of "balance" it is as the exact same. Same senerio at it's core Solo Q vs having a team (SWF). Perks and everything. Even right down to it's monster. In the world on Evolve Elder kraken would be the blight or nurse of Evolve .You wanna know what determined the true balance of that game and is the end balance of DBD it is the effort put into the game you could not consider yourself to understand the "balance" until at least minimum 2-3 years of playing a single role (mine was support) and having teammates that understood their role the same way even then the perfect monster player understands their role(monster and killer learn to play good much faster than it takes a true team that's able to win). It became a game of who makes the first mistake. I don't think the way DBD is and it's also the way Evolve was nobody wants to put in that kind of time but DBD is still a game that people love playing just because of what the game is where Evolve had it issues most time being referred to as a running simulator. It's those people who don't understand how roles worked on Evolve unfortunately. All in all how long does it take to truly understand this game? I've played it on and off since it's release and I know I don't. I feel like I'm leaving out so much. I guess my conclusion is on both games you have to be extremely dedicated to be the player you think you are as much could be said for any asymmetrical game who really knows? It a different genre so far not smiled upon. The answer on Evolve was and I was part of the forums there too if Solo Q is such a big problem then find people to play and practice with it's a overall easy answer for the devs and makes the most sense. It will be more fun than solo q and you'll probably get a few more wins. DBD has the tool (custom game) to improve.

Dev's won't read this because it's worded in a way to criticize the dev's. More over it should noted that the game has been in this state for years. Maybe trying being genuine and less angry about balance and and offer a solution and maybe it gets read. I really don't notice the amount of bugs your talking about this game actually feels good compared to a lot of other games. For me sometimes latency gets me but to be expected.

do you even play killer, please don't make claims without knowing anything.
I sure do beat a at least 3 person SWF ttv group with pop goes the weasel when it's combined with other slow downs it's just ridiculous so what happens if you buff it more more more more? I was playing a 3 gen it took me a little longer because main was in the 3 gen. They did abuse that. The way the match played out I tunneled 1 out played a 3 gen but still it wasn't that hard. I was also just playing wraith so nothing crazy I bounce between wraith and spirit. If I was on spirit my main this would have been a lot worse for the survivors. As to criticize ones skill a dev said " a kill equals skill and surviving equals skill" I got the 4k with 2 gen's left which also means the survivors were also trying to break the 3 gen. I guess I'll include the build I was playing. Pain res, pop, eruption and brutal strength and the add on were green windstorm and purple shadow dance.

I think a lot of what's going on currently with DBD can be described as this: Certain playstyles started to emerge, and these playstyles, whether they're right or wrong, led to a large group of people choosing not to play anymore. Over time, this created a situation where these playstyles became more dominant, as "casual, play for funsies" players went on to other games.
So what we're left with is a playerbase made up mostly of loyalists, who play the game because they enjoy it or used to enjoy it, and people who want to win at all costs and have adapted certain playstyles to achieve that. Now, I'm not passing judgement on how people play or saying this is bad or that is bad. People are going to play however they want. But I do think it's important for the health of the fandom to try and bring in as many new players as possible. After all, we want DBD to thrive and grow. And the current state of things like soloq could potentially cause both new and current players to hit the uninstall button.
I guess the game has already had it's success and continues to be successful after what is already a good run. If I was a dev I guess my attitude would be no need to change much on terms of Solo Q or SWF who cares at this point really they get paid all the same as long as they are making content. Game really hasn't slowed down no matter how unfun it is . Like I just got instant killed after 1 gen by a Myers and questioned to point of it. On to the next.

Whenever adding voice chat is brought up the devs have said over the years their reasons against it are the language barrier across the regions and the availability of built-in comms on the consoles and things like Discord. The toxicity question actually comes from the community itself.
Imo they do not wish to have to moderate any voice chat they add, but that's just my take.
I mean there's only 2 real ways you are going to fix solo q and SWF at the same time . The first is get rid of the ability to invite anyone to a lobby effectively killing SWF(would be the worst decision ever made on any game ever even though this game focus was solo q no communication) or the second put in the game what makes a SWF so strong and that is they are speaking to eachother. Otherwise you will never be able to balance this asymmetrical game by adjusting perks, add-ons , items or abilities. Why does BHVR think they need to moderate a chat system? The reports on end game screen are ignored to begin with(to be fair most are false reports by people mad they lost a game). So like every thing else I have reported on the game is through the platform itself. Also if it's so hard to have on the game why does every other game that has MP have it?

BHVR is never receiving feedback over the years from solo Q casual survivors. They listen and worship feedback from overplaying killer main streamers that don't play survivor outside their comfort zone. I won't name any names but one streamer cried continuously that medkits are overpowered and guess what? BHVR in usual fashion obliterated them. Now think what happened as a result? This was a nerf to only solo Q. SWF can meet up and still heal. This is one example whereas I can list over numerous examples of how survivors are severely nerfed, specifically solo Q which is now unplayable.
The only way to help this game is for BHVR to stop listening and obeying feedback from people that practically never lose as killer.
Balancing where SWF is a requirement for winning and not allowing survivors to have any kind of skill expression is severely suffocating the game's success. The game is not a killer only game and that mentality needs to drastically change.
It really is suffering. Something as simple as some kind of in game chat is a game changer in terms of balance. Solo Q and a SWF is polar opposite and it's the killers balance that makes it so different. I'd think with any kind of voice chat could you not theoretically in most cases buff killers? Then SWF isn't so miserable for killer and at least in Solo Q you still at very least tried to communicate. I don't know why this is a questionable addition to the game I really don't. Hell it could even balance out the comp scene. People against just bring up o it would just be toxic. I'd ask so what's your point? Block features are built in to every platform. If you are one of the people who just like not having the chat then good for you I'm sure you will be able to disable it but you will probably find yourself falling out of favor with people who want this.
-
The fact that BHVR has ignored this forever is telling. I've played the game off and on a little after it's release. It's actually gotten even worse if you ask me. Just look at all the perks and how long it takes to accumulate the blood points to unlock the perks after having to buy the character to be able to unlock the perks. Killers always accumulate faster. Solo q vs SWF. As a Solo q I've been tunneled out a lot. Sometimes I have good runs and sometimes I don't but I rarely get to do other objectives so I probably get most cases per game 8k-20k blood points more often than not. It's gets you nowhere in terms of unlocking perks. It punishes Solo q players. There are other things that only punish solo q players most notable are killer perks the same perks that have no effect on a SWF. I can't name them of the top of my head but knockout is definitely one of the to go along with the recent complaints of slugging (may go hand and hand). Is this game not meant to be played as a Solo q? The lack of voice communication in game would suggest it is. So SWF probably should receive some hits for sure and then balance killer stuff so the game can be played by solo queues as intended or give voice communication in game. Proxy chat would be fun and keep it somewhat more inline with a somewhat real experience.

I only played the event as a survivor and only 4-5 games honestly felt like killer was a little sweatier than usual but also I kinda just want to have some fun with the snowballs and snowman but definitely didn't happen. So I gave up early on the event. Some people want to have fun and some don't I guess it's whatever. The last game I played in the event was fun. 2 people just playing for unhooks I guess leave the game pretty quickly so that left me a the person I was playing with with 2 gen's left and for some reason killer decided he wanted the 4k I was slugged and carried around for a very long time while my friend was cruising around in a snowman. The game took at least 45 minutes because the killer was carrying me around and not hooking me but if I wiggled he would just follow me and down me again and carry me around again. We finally messaged the killer and told him to stop holding the game hostage. It took another 5 minutes for him to do that. I didn't do anything toxic in game unless hitting the killer with a snowball triggered him or something.

Granted, various MMR levels will have different experiences. The lower end MMR bracket has killers absolutely stomping. Mid MMR it's roughly balanced, and high MMR survivors have a lot of control over the killer. At high MMR, a match loss or win usually comes down to the amount of mistakes survivors make or do not make. Perfectly played survivors are unstoppable. Perfectly played killers can still lose. High MMR, it's all about capitalizing on survivor mistakes, but very experienced survivors make very little of those. That's why you can find survivor SWF groups who have 200+ wins in a row.
The exception is solo queue which naturally is in a weaker position vs killer than being in a SWF group. Additionally, nurse\blight is strong enough to even cause trouble for very experienced killers - those two killers are just genuinely broken, imho.
I think you need to consider a high MMR killer actually sweating on nurse or blight they will always win if we are talking about the highest skilled killers vs survivor. IDK why everyone suggests that when if you simply watch twitch you'll see it. It will be clear as day. I do no include DBD comp because of perk and add on bans. Comp doesn't reflect the way most play the game. Suggestions like the one you have made is why the game is in the state it's in . I'd say low MMR survivors get stomped mid get stomped but still do a few gens and high can win but struggle to do so if the killer is going all out playing the most reliable perks to get the win which most don't. I watched Tofu's Oni streak to 100. Oni isn't even a S tier killer according to him and he only faced a team that somewhat scared him a little 1 out of every 15 matches. I think of killers like Lilith omen's blight. Who can beat that? If he is absolutely wants to win? 1 out of 15 survivor teams has a chance. These are the highest MMR players playing. I'd say it's the opposite killer>survivor. Just did a little research highest survivor win streak end a month ago at 173 and highest killer win streak is a blight with 1947 wins this is complete opposite ends of a spectrum.

If you have 4 minute games and want more nerfs to survivors I want to see game play 10 games in a row time stamped. Should be done in the next 24 hrs or I'll consider this post as you are trolling and topic should be closed.

If you didn't notice people quitting the matches because of many reasons and slow downs are one of them promise you. You are really making a case for more of that? This is just crazy.

I wouldn't mind...if I ran into the same players when I was playing killer. But nope, always the 4-man SWF commando elite death squads.
Well put mmr is irrelevant because one can't know that. I have a total 0f only 700 hrs on the game. With the new ranking system(how much it matters or not) it only takes me 2 days to get to iridescent 1 as killer which is a problem altogether when I play survivor I feel as though I know how to decently run a killer because Id say 2/3 of my time is spent playing killer but........ It's always the same thing with teammates wondering around the map, dive bombing hooks, killing themselves on the hook or just quit the game as soon as their caught. I do none of this so why am I getting teamed with these type of player?
-
I cant play survivor anyway teammates are always dead before gen 3 gets done really hard to play with brain dead ppl. So go team killer. Or whatever.
