Imo that goes for both sides. If more killers played solo q survivor maybe they would think twice before hooking the person who was just farmed off hook without BT etc
I play mostly survivor* and used to get really mad when killers were slugging, tunneling, or camping me. Then I tried killer and suddenly I couldn't get mad anymore. If anything I try to say "gg" to every killer I play against just to be that one bright spot in a sea of toxic survivors.
*My play time is about 90% survivor and 10% killer. However, that 10% negative experience is enough for me to be an apologist when someone camps, tunnels, or slugs me.

My simple advice against survivor tryhards is to just AFK the game. They can try to farm their BP and you can do something else that you enjoy. It's a win-win situation, and when the match is over you'll only have to wait a minute for the next game while they have to wait much longer.
The best thing is that when you start depipping as a killer you are more likely to get average survivors who are not trying to sweat and you can have a normal game.
Seriously, the best tool in the killer toolbox is to AFK into a rank that has more enjoyable games than the red and purple ranks.

Well that's just speculation that they don't have time (600 employees btw). I agree they should focus on balance rather than on new content but i genuinly don't feel like they are getting overworked unless they got spagetthi code, in wich case they better start working on DBD 2 with better design from the ground.
Yeah, I don't buy that they are overworked with the current release rate and 600 employees(I have worked at smaller big time studios with better release rate than this). All of the graphics are last gen, the engine is very basic, and the arena is so limited that there ain't much to do except redo the map entirely if anything is needed.
Most likely they have a skeleton crew working on DBD while the rest is working on new projects(ie. new titles or ports). That's the standard MO for game studios like these. Only time you have a large proportion of the employees dedicated to a single ongoing title is in MMO type games.
My guess is that we are halfway to getting DBD2 rather than a proper overwork of the current one.

If we want to create more empathy players should be forced to play Killer for every 4-5 games they play as a survivor. I learned to empathize a lot with killers after I started playing one. It would also help with the waiting times and regenerate some of the killer pool. I wouldn't mind playing a killer for every 4-5 games I get in as a survivor.

The best thing to do when you encounter a sweaty SWF team is to just AFK the match. Clean the apartment, start cooking dinner, or watch youtube. I mean, it is the perfect solution as you won't have to suffer abusive survivors and the survivors get the killer they want to play against, ie. a killer who is just there as set dressing. Then, when it is over, you'll just have to wait a minute or two for another game(and your apartment will look better now) while the survivors in the previous game get to wait a long time for their next game. Win-win for everybody.

Let's not punish people for playing together, shall we?
The SWF people are punishing the killer for playing because they(SWF) are going to outperform solo survivors. So it is always alright to punish the killer then? No wonder this game has a killer shortage with that attitude.

Probably won't save him, but having 2 traps on him by default(without using an addon) would at least be a small saving grace.

...it's because of you. You are the problem. You are the reason the state of gameplay is what it is. It's all fun and games until there is nobody left to play Killer. Don't forget.
Pretty much this. Doesn't matter how many survivors are not being douchebags. If every 5th or 8th game has ultra sweaty, abusive, and toxic survivors it will be enough to ruin your mood towards the next 5-10 games.
My best approach to the worst of the worst survivors is just to AFK, only to move when the gens are done and I can open the gates for them. If I don't engage they don't really have a game and when the game is over they'll have to wait 10 minutes in the survivor queue again while I'll get an instant game.
Although, I have sometimes managed to rack up a very nice BP count in AFK games as the survivors desperately try to eke out their own BP. All while I am painting or watching youtube.

There would probably be more killers like that, except if you gives survivors an inch they will stretch it a mile.
You have survivors for example who, are in a basement and you are trapper at 5 gens, and they step in literally EVERY basement trap and you're going to just demolish them- so you take your traps and just let them get out and recover instead.... suddenly they turn the game around and laugh about how bad you are for messing that up, t-bag you, etc.... and you can't say anything like "I let you get out of the basement" because they are going to say like "lol sure buddy w/e you need to tell yourself" and antagonistic things like that.
They are going to still DS you, jump back in a locker, head on stun you and t-bag at a pallet.
This is so uncomfortably common that I am honestly surprised there are killers left playing this game.
Regarding OP: I love nothing more than to just play and even allow people to live if it ain't a sweaty match. There are very few things I enjoy as much as carrying a survivor all the way to the hatch. Just now I allowed the last player to leave because the other two survivors who were left decided to jump ship and into the hatch without her. I can't stand betrayal like that so I allowed her to live.
-
Two things kinda need to happen.
Remove post-game chat. It's not doing good for anyone and the "GG WP" you get every 20 game is not worth the 10-15 toxic post-game chats.
Reduce the amount of bloodpoint grind. I think this hurts people the most as they feel like they are losing out if they can't maximize their BP gains.
-
I used to get mad at killers for camping and tunneling. Then I started playing killers and now I can't even be mad anymore. Does it suck when you are tunneled/camped? Yep, but it's a part of the toolset and sometimes your best tool versus sweaty players and/or SWF. To ignore the toolkit so you can be an NPC that the survivors will either way berate after a match is just a level of masochism I don't understand.

People should be allowed to play with their friends. Instead of nerfing SWF like everyone says, they should buff solo queue.
Don't have to nerf SWF. Buff Solo Survivors and Killers vs. SWF groups and you can have some modicum of fairness.
-
How about just giving the killer bonuses based on how many are playing SWF in the group?
Let's say that for every friends playing together the speed of the killer increases by 3%, maximizing at 12% if all 4 survivors are playing SWF. That number could then be scaled back and forth to find the perfect middle ground.
Could also make it so that for each SWF player in the survivor group gen regression is increased.
I think there are multiple things that could be done to make SWF more balanced.
We could add, on top of that, if there is a solo survivor playing in a group including 3 SWF the solo player gets 30% more bloodpoints as they are more likely to be screwed over by the SWF(friends before randoms and all that).
At this point I think we are dealing with BHVR unwillingness to deal with the problem rather than lack of possible solutions.

It just shows how irritated killers are with the game. And how childish survivor mains are.
...and then survivors wonder why survivor queues are getting longer and why there aren't more killers playing.

I love NOED purely for the amount of salt it generates in the postgame chat. It could provide enough salt for the entire global population if it were harvested.
-
MMR will not change anything if they still have that rule where a high rank player gets matched up with lower ranked ones because of waiting times. Then we'll just have the same system problems with different ranking.

I don't know. I just had a nea complain to me about giving her hatch, because apparently my playstyle sucked, and I was a boring killer. Survivors complain about everything. At this rate nothing surprises me in this game anymore.
Pretty much this. It's amazing how much survivors can complain. Kinda wish they were forced to play killer every time they complain. Might improve the attitude.
-
I think the hidden MMR is just going to make things worse and more toxic. Now I'll at least get the rare SWF group apologizing for the mismatch, but after the change it's going to be toxic town until BHVR and DBD are no more.
I do hope the MMR makes things better, but I am not optimistic.
-
If the survivors took out all the totems then kudos to them. It means I won't be able to pressure them in the end game, but that's because they did the work to deny me that. Can't get mad at that.

I dont consider genrush or looping toxic (just boring), but tbagging is designed as an insult. So people should not be insulted by insults. Is that true if someone gives you the finger (i hope that is right, i am not a native speaker)? Because hey, you should not be triggered by someone showing you his extremities, right?
Teabagging is designed as an insult. The intend is to insult. And that is toxic.
I treat my behaviour in tiers. If the survivors are gung ho, t-bagging, and flaunting themselves I will treat them with all the evil tools I have at my hand which is letting them bleed to death, tunnel and/or camp them. If the survivors are just playing the map without horrible behaviour I will avoid camping, slugging, and tunneling, even give the last player the hatch or something nice.
In other words, my behaviour is entirely based off on how the survivors act in a match and I don't know how often I have sighed and put on my "evil face" when a survivor acts in a toxic manner.

Hell yeah brother. Wish more killers were toxic to survivors. I recommend slugging and letting them bleed out its really funny.
Did that once as the Pig in the Saw level. They were running and trying to be very smart by rescuing people in front of me. I managed to get one hooked and three on the ground. I made 3 of them bleed to death and the one on the hook watch as they were running perks that allowed all kinds of shenanigans which meant that it was safer to let them bleed to death. Was also a good session in humility for them.
The best thing was the flames I got post game.

So a person who messed up mashing a button and dies on accident should be punished too?
There's no way you'll ever figure out which people intentionally killed themselves on hook and which people didn't.
They should actually remove the button mashing. It is a stupid game design that can fail by accident more often than not. It adds nothing to the game.
-
We should also add punishment to the survivors. If they stay still for more than 10 seconds without actually doing a gen they get exposed with a sound effect and aura for a minute. When they teabag their speed slows by 20%. Lots of ideas.
I know people want to nerf killers into oblivion and make them play your game, but as it is it is barely worth it to play a killer due to how things are set up now. Sure, you can go for the tryhard builds, but the game at that level is not fun and requires a lot of killer grinding.
A better idea would be that nobody can play a survivor unless they get one killer to level 50. Then the player will know the frustration of playing against SWF, tryhards, and how annoying certain things are. This might actually create empathy and sympathy which would help the playerbase.
-
When I encounter a horrible matchmaking I just stop playing and just roam the map doing nothing until they fix the gens, maybe break a blockade or two just for the meager blood points and to have something to do. Then I go and open the exit myself. Usually I just watch youtube at the same time until the match is finally over. This way the games are shorter than chasing the tryhards around for half an hour as most survivors will get frustrated and finish the map when they realize they can't get you to play the match as they want you to.
-
Although I have never facecamped at 5 gens I will facecamp if the survivor team is bullying me. I am not here to play for the amusement of Survivors so if I am being bullied I will retaliate with the only tools I have at my disposal. I don't care about pips or ranks so punishing me that way will not make me do less of it. If anything I will take the depip as a badge of honor.
Here is the thing: you can do all the penalties you want and the only thing you will get in return is longer queue times as killers stop playing. I used to hate killers who camped/facecamped/tunneled, but after playing a Killer myself for a little bit I now understand why people do it. It's not necessarily the griefing, but the sheer boredom of the matchmaking giving rank 14 killer a rank 2 survivor group, or that survivors want to use you as a farming stick while bullying you. These are the only tools, as bad as they are, to get a smidgen of entertainment out of playing a killer.
I have thrown games where my goal has to be to ensure that survivors get as little points from me as possible. They can get the escape and the gen points, but nothing else. I will even open the exit just to claim the points for myself and end the game sooner.
I remember the carefree days when I started as a killer. I wouldn't kill all the survivors and even if I was doing well I would still love to let 1-2 survivors escape. It was an enjoyable experience that made me a softie. Then I gained ranks and high-tier survivors turned me into a cruel killer that only thinks of ways to grief survivors who act like ********.
This game is very toxic in its balance and matchmaking and now I understand very well why the survivor queues are so long - survivors have bullied most killers out of the game.
