Its not genrush if you don't use prove thyself, toolboxes and/or you choose to do a gen instead of a save while killing your teammate in the process.

Its the same as tunneling and camping, people just using these terms without second thought and blame their loss on

This is the response, especially calling out tunneling as used incorrectly often.

If you are ignoring teammates and letting them die unnecessarily then the survivor is showing a tunnel vision of sorts. If the killer is ignoring logical choices to just hunt down and get rid of one particular survivor then that is tunneling. But terms get thrown around all the time without people really understanding what they mean I feel.

  • I let at least one person go in many more matches than I don't.

If they are clearly new and don't stand a chance I will almost always let them go, they probably appreciate an escape much more, even if it's not fully "earned".

If you play well and it's a great game but I still down you at the end I let them go also. However if I get annoyed by you for some reason then you are gone for sure.

It's very variable as to what annoys me about a player's behaviour but if they loop me for ages in an annoying way and are clearly very good then I have earned my kill, but it really all depends on how I feel about them during the game. It's rare that I consider someone's behaviour in game to actually be toxic, that word is thrown around for people just playing well.

However generally if it's a good game then last person I normally let go. Also depends on challenges a lot, if I have done my objective I am much more likely to allow the escape.

My maths isn't exactly what it use to be especially probability & all that but if I worked it out right

Getting the same killer out of a selection of 23 12 games in a row is between 0.5 & 0.6%

Of course those results are futher changed if you take in killer choice popularity where certain killers are way more likely to be chosen than others but on a basic level its pretty much 0.5% or someone with an actual degree in math will come along & explain it much better.

That's basically right though the odds would be way lower, the chances of facing something 1/23 twice is already 0.19% I think, although it wouldn't be out of 23 because not every player has purchased Bubba, but this should actually make it less likely I think, even if lots have purchased him for BBQ because there's a good chance they don't actually use him.

So yea the chances should be incredibly low, but then due to the nature of probability it's not just possible but in a way inevitable that someone will get a run of loads of games against the same killer.

Still OP has been crazily unlucky, I rarely see Bubba at all, suppose rank also comes into play.

how can I find this ######### gnome does the sound mean he is close by?

I think when endgame collapse happens you always hear the initial giggle to confirm he's spawned, but it's map wide so it doesn't have any indication it is nearby.

I then heard another noise which I assume is him moving.

Haven't actually found him as yet but haven't been searching too much. Think that is how it all works though.

Ha, hopefully they will be OK for a while as you don't get people sending so many awful messages in the lower ranks. Actually if on Switch messages aren't an issue as there's no function even on the same platform.

The thing is if I don't do it this way then I'll have like 60 challenges to actually do and complete before I can claim them lol

I do it this way so the second I decide to claim them, I can do it immediately

Ahhh I think I get it now, you can't actually do the next challenge unless you have claimed the previous one. I didn't realise as this is new to me and I have just been claiming and moving on. Thanks.

    My point.

If you are crazy, then your spirit is not calm. The perk should do what it says.

Someone can be crazy and perfectly calm. Someone screaming isn't calm.

If having a calm spirit meant not being crazy then surely it would basically counter all of doctors' madness/entire game.

  • I was playing as Doctor last night, trying to do the sacrifice 6 challenge, I had 3 from previous game because someone DC'd so was just trying to get 3 more.

Two were dead and I think there were 2 gens left when I was chasing an injured Jake (maybe Dwight), just as I was getting in range and about to lunge he found his blue glyph and started it. So I stopped in my tracks and watched him do it, them promptly downed him.

Carried him to a hook, then I was a bit shameful in that I stayed pretty close, I didn't full on face camp but definitely wasn't my normal self heading off looking for the last person. I just didn't want to have to do a whole game to get 1 sacrifice if he got rescued and they escaped. I came back up to him as he was approaching the end and hung my head in shame. I think he understood this gesture and hopefully was OK with the death as he got his blue glyph. But still in case you are on here I apologise for the being a big campy there.

I am pretty sure he was SWF with the last person who once I had downed I carried to the gate, went and closed the hatch and let him leave, to make amends for his friend and give them both something at least. Think the name was Wanillasky and not on Xbox.

I'll happily explain again but I just knew I had a pretty good explanation on a earlier comment so I thought I'd just use that again.

    Glad you understand now 🙂

I was also confused as to why you want to save some, I've read the explanation and essentially it's to claim a load of bloodpoints later to spend on the new RE stuff right?

What I am still unsure of is why do you claim any at all that aren't a direct path to the next page (i.e. the offshoots)?

This is all probably not relevant to me as I am still getting killers to 40 and just got Plague with the 4.5k shards discount. I'm prob being a noob and missing something obvious but would appreciate if anyone can explain, thanks.

Hmm... say that the survivor that unhooks the hooked survivor is injured as well. If the killer happens to come back to the hook and goes after the survivor that was just unhooked even though the injured survivor that unhooked the survivor is in sight, then it's tunneling. Whenever I play killer, I always avoid going for the survivor that was just unhooked so that the game is more fair and fun for them whether or not they are injured. If the survivor that unhooks is farming, then the killer isn't really tunneling, so it's entirely the survivor's fault for farming.

This is also why ds and bt exists, so that the survivors actually have a chance to play and survive instead of being constantly downed and dying before they even have a chance to play.

Also same, I've been a lurker for the longest time but being able to participate in discussions is so fun! :)

Yea, if an unhook happens in front of me and both are injured I will always go for the one who did the unhooking because I know what it feels like to get downed immediately after being unhooked and just basically lose a hook state/be sacrificed for nothing, and not get a good amount of time in the game at least.

But I still don't see it as tunneling really, I know people generally do use the phrase but it still seems to me that it's the killers choice of whats the best option to serve their aim.

If they were to go right past one survivor to only focus down one other then that's ignoring the better option for the sake of being malicious to the other, so that I would say is tunneling.

Just think most of the time the survivor doing the unhooking is the one who messed up if they unhook right under the killer's nose.

  • @fancynancy said:

@HelloSidney No, see, killers are good and strategic players if they don't face camp/tunnel. If they camp, they're wasting time at the hook, which allows the other survivors to finish gens thus resulting in the killer losing gen pressure and the amount of times they could've hooked other survivors. If they tunnel, they're not giving survivors a chance to actually play the game (which is why they're playing in the first place). I don't call killers "tunnelers" if another survivor unhooks me, and the killer goes after them, not me (even though they could've).

Been playing this for about a year now and that last bit still confuses me.

Is a killer really tunneling to go for the injured one rather than the healthy? I think of tunneling as ignoring the best options to make sure someone goes out, don't get me wrong when playing killer I go for different people depending on different things but is it so wrong to attack the injured rather than healthy?

I get that it's really annoying as I play survivor much more than killer, but if a teammate unhooks me in front of the killer, we both bolt, and the killer chases me then I think the teammate is the one who messed up with the bad unhook. I never blame the killer for this as it seems like the obvious best option for them. Whereas tunneling to me should be having tunnel vision and ignoring the better option just to get someone out.

Realise this has probably been discussed a lot before but I finally made an account on here, long time lurker.

    Thanks.
