  • From my games, Cheryl, Ace and Thalita are the ones I want to fight alongside.

  • The Dredge and the Executioner are great fun, although the Executioner's add-ons are pretty disappointing. They need a complete change, but as a killer he actually feels like a killer.

You're also right about Oni as, once you get the gist, he is absolutely brilliant fun! Hillbilly, though ... even when I was absolutely trash at him I just loved running around with a chainsaw way too much to give a hoot about winning or not. For me, Hillbilly is top, but that's the joy of having so many different perspectives!

It isn't just the singular ISP. Every single network in the state of where I am has this issue. I legit can't do anything about it unless I move and since I have a family here, I can't really do that. No matter what provider is used, it ends the same: Eventually, it'll kick me off for some ungodly reason despite being the only one using it so much.

Sounds like a place in Canada I used to know. Those are unfortunate circumstances but, unless BHVR feel confident enough to differentiate between an ISP issue and a disconnect due to baby stuff, it's a scenario which will still incur the penalties because of the majority.

They start as low as 10s if you rarely dc just did for th3 first time in forever because of a cheater with insta blind 12s penalty

Ah, so it's got plenty of leeway before the bigger numbers then!

  • Maybe further down the line they'll rework it into something more controllable. For now though it's nice to enjoy a silly perk like this - but your suggestion is fair.

I just wanna be able to join back if the servers or my wifi boot me out of the match. Give like a 5 minute window so we can restart and join back in the game, y'know?

Isn't that what the disconnect bans are though, originally? They start from as low as 5 minutes initially, so that window is already available. If you're being booted out regularily, then that's the ISP's responsibility and you need to raise concerns with them to improve their service.

  • I feel remove the cooldown and spread the curse amongst all survivors (bar those with tapes) for each teleport. Keep the curse increase via hits for those holding a tape (maybe increase it to 1.5 curse per hit). This will mean getting a tape is more urgent, and more stressful when with it in chase.

  • The Oni, because I enjoy facing an intimidating Oni and playing as him likewise it both challenging and rewarding. He also has a rather brutal mori!

Honourable mentions: Executioner, Onryō and Hillbilly

  • Feedback for each:

Trapper: These are great and what really stands out is the reasoning for the effects. Of course a survivor will move a bit slower after escaping, because of the pain! The only minor tweak would be to have the survivor suffer from hemorrage, regardless of whether picked up or hit down and forget about the extra wiggle (although this is again just my envisioning what a survivor would be once ripped out of a trap). This is a rather brilliant update, so kudos!

Shape: I like how it adds an element of impending doom to proceedings regarding the faster break speeds. The Undetectable takes away from that a bit though, and especially someone with a Tombstone piece would be rather unfair to spring out of nowhere. I'd rather remove the Undetectable, and instead increase his movement speed and terror radius a bit more. Again it adds that fear of what will happen, makes him more threatening, but at least gives survivors a fighting chance before Tier 3 hits.

Hag: Yeah, this is fine. No issue here, although in return I'd nerf the speed factor of her Iridescent shoe add-on (not sure of the name). Otherwise it's good.

Nightmare: Again, a solid suggestion. I like how you focused on speed, especially since Freddy wants survivors in his dream realm for as long as possible. Reducing speed to actions also makes running to get that alarm clock or being woken up more important. Freddy could also do with some more dream effects too, such as totems which may grab and try to hold the survivor in place for a bit (idea from when Freddy's tongue comes out of the phone in the movie) and some small changes such as this.

Pig: Once again, great to see some other ways of thinking for Pig. She could have bigger effects when focusing on trapping gens and exit gates (mechanical changes), and more basic things such as pallets could simply have her tying them up so survivors have to loosen them to drop it, or maybe set trip wires on vaults which survivors can dismantle, or jump over and scream, revealing their location

Ghost Face: Everything is good, albeit if somebody reveals him out of a stalk then they shouldn't be punished as a result. Ignore that little extra stalk top-up, but the rest is fine.

Deathslinger: Yup, reducing the terror radius is the way to go for good ol' Caleb!

Executioner: Exactly the same as many others once. I did an add-on overhaul I'll try to remember to add into this after editing.

[edit: here were my add-on ideas: https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/378466/the-executioner-add-ons-rethink#latest

Blight: Yup, change those 2 add-ons. He's strong enough without the added headache these put on.

Twins: I feel they need a more substantial chamge, but I couldn't tell you what that would be. At least you're offering a buff, but they need a more robust change overall.

Nemesis: This works like your Myers take, which again adds a sense of dread and intimidation to the ever-evolving Nemesis. These make sense to me. Great change!

Mastermind: I wouldn't be averse to this. It's neither here nor there for me, but this is such a small change there's no reason not to.

Skull Merchant: This will male the drones more doverse and gets rid of the more unfair aspects of her 3-gen strategy. I like this. Then again, any change to reducing the effectiveness I'd like. The exposed status is a bit of a joke, so glad to see this done.

Singularity: Hux does this in the cinematic, doesn't it? It's surprising this is not an option, although perhaps it's to do with collision in more narrow areas. However, sticking a glob in an open area sounds perfectly acceptable!

Overall, some fantastic changes! Please apply for the DBD team as soon as you can.

  • I do empathise with those games where you forget it's a 4v1 asymmetrical game and feels more like a 1v1v1v1v1 battle royale, with alliances mysteriously forged against you.

You probably know this already but when a survivor works with the killer you can report that. It doesn't help with the feeling at the time but, with the new report feature incoming, at least you should get a sense of robust feedback from them.

The event ends in a couple of days and then the farmers will undoubtably decline in number.

  • To back you up, I'd actually suggest killers (and survivors, for that matter) switch up their playstyle throughout the trial. It's a clever way of trying to throw opponents off-guard. So long as a killer isn't repeatedly smacking a guy on the hook, then it's quite understandable that a killer will change tactics and camp or tunnel.

Granted, it's no fun for the survivor on the receiving end, but so long as there's no BMing involved then the survivor needs to understand this is not a personal attack against them and simply a tactic the killer has decided to employ.

  • I agree that neither the killer, nor indeed fellow survivors, should be able to view your item or prestige. It's also strange that - at the very least - a player should be able to choose what can and cannot be seen by the killer.

The item bit is fine to view, because it is a 1v4 and, although the killer can view them, this does not stop survivors from doing last second switches.

So I really do not understand why it's so complicated to simply remove the ability to remove the Prestige level in the opening lobby. It really cannot be that hard to do.

  • They have no intention to remove them and that's fine. Someone who rages enough to dc needs to calm down anyway.

  • "Alien" is my absolute favourite.

Notable mentions go to: "The Evil Within", "Alan Wake", "The Magnus Archives", "A Plague's Tale" and for cosmetics - "Ghostbusters"

I think bHVR has outsourced that part to the Community, but most selfmade Youtube stars are not that good. Its hit or miss, you have to watch a 24min video and then you figure out the advice is superficial its just worthless and it makes you feel bad about doing it again.

Ofc the only solution would be to do it properly myself, but its takes a lot of to do tutorials properly.

I'm thinking it would mainly be about basic mindgames and the rewards of being proactive, plus concerns of solo players and how to work better without swf. That sort of thing. They may have outsourced it, but nothing wrong with them sticking a video or 2 about tips in the game itself, so people can go straight to an official source for ideas.

none games have that, i think it would be bad idea. They can make more "advancement" guides, where it's shows what should you do in different game situations, or against every killer. But if person wants to improve, he can easily do so on his own, especially if english is his native language. There's so many guides available.

Just because no game has that does not mean it's something to consider in future.

BHVR have done nothing wrong in this regard, but this may be something that could be a nice little extra to have.

  • There could be some great killer legendary outfits from this:

The Nurse with "The Librarian" skin

    The Spirit with "Gozer" skin

    The Knight with "Vigo" skin

The Clown with "The Stay Puft Marshmallow Man" skin.

  • There are a number of guides available online for both survivors and killers to help improve gameplay and encourage a proactive playstyle.

However, it would be a good idea for DBD to perhaps make some video guides available from within the game so people can look at how to try out some techniques. Just for ease of practicality.

  • They usually wear a pig mask to show their sadness, but fortunately this is easily identified by empathetic survivors, who will often boop those sad killers and make them feel better. This is clearly because of how overwhelmingly loving players are and how they want to help.

  • Look at what your personal expectations are in terms of performance and use that as the basis of what constitutes as a win or loss. Mine is simple about getting 9 emblem points or more.

With killer, it's really hard to "feel" like a winner sometimes. You could get a 3k, but if that final survivor leaves via the gates and makes sure you see them leave via the gate, it's fair to say the emotions you feel may be akin to those felt when losing. Likewise, getting 1k against 4 survivors who play absolutely brilliantly and feeling the satisfaction your endgame score was good otherwise will feel like a win.

DBD isn't as simple as "1k = loss, 3k = win". Ultimately, unless you're playing in a competition, make your own rules as to what a win or loss is. Don't give a toss what anyone else says is a win, because I am certain they don't give a toss and have their own measures too.

  • So many suggestions, so apologies if any of these repeat previous suggestions:

    Survivor Perks:

    1. Bloodrush: When the killer enters tier 1 bloodlust during a chase and the survivor is healthy, "Bloodrush" grants a 0.2m/s boost to their speed. If the survivor escapes chase, they become exhausted for 60/50/40 seconds.

    2. Blessed Hook: At the start of the trial, 30%/40%/50% of all hooks become "blessed". If a survivor is hooked on any of these hooks the following effects happen:

    a) the survivor can attempt to escape 3 times during the second hook stage. b) the chance of escape is 10%. c) should the survivor unhook themself they immediately become full health.

The hook then loses its "Blessed" status once unhooked by any means.

    3. Itza Meee!: If a survivor drops from a height and lands on a killer, the killer is stunned for 5 seconds. Randomly, one of the following actions could occur:

    a) The killer suffers from "Blindness" for the next 20 seconds. b) The survivor suffers from the hindered effect for 20 seconds. c) The survivor gains 50 iridescent shards to their account. d) All survivors become exposed for the next 30 seconds. e) Any chest that survivor comes across next that has been opened can be rumaged through for a common item. f) The survivor will randomly shout "WOOHOO! and reveal their aura for the next 6 seconds.

This perk then goes on cooldown for 80/70/60 seconds. No occurence can happen twice in a row.

    Killer Perks:

    1. Power Lunge: When a killer hits a survivor with a "lunged" attack, the survivor is hurled backwards. approxomately 15 feet or until they hit an object. The killer gains 100% bonus BP for the hit and the survivor suffers from "blindness" for the next 40/50/60 seconds. This attack has a cooldown of 50/40/30 seconds.

    2. Hex: Party Lights: At the start of a trial, a totem is hexed. Every 30/25/20 seconds, the hex moves from that totem to another random hex, unless it is being worked on. After every 3 switches a token is gained:

1 token = survivors will reveal their locations for 5 seconds. 2 tokens = same as 1 token plus a perma 4% reduction to gen repairs. 3 tokens = same as 1 token plus a perma 6% reduction to healing. 4 tokens = same as 1 token plus any chest opened from now on will flashbang blind a survivor for 6 seconds. 5 tokens = all of the above effects plus a 30 second period of exposed. If any more than 5 tokens, it grants a 15 second exposed effect.

    3. Hex: Totem Recall: A totem is hexed at the start of the trial. Once the hex is cleansed, the following occurs: a) the killer can do a "Blight sprint" once (but unable to hit that turn), b) the killer can swing an additional 1/2/3 times with a basic attack with no cooldown until they hit a survivor, c) another totem becomes lit. Once the second lit totem is cleansed the effects go.

  • Maybe not the meta some were thinking, but by god they are the best damn perks we've seen for a while!

Just saw Scott Jund try out the "Matador tech" with them. Absolute brilliance!

  • Your post made you come across as the exact type of person this game would be better off without. Glad you're jumping off. The exaggerations and attitude are unreal.

Also, Otz does well as @I_CAME stated in their post.

  • No real issue, honestly. If an injured person goes for the save they still go down and even a healthy survivor making that save will most probably go down. This just stops the cluster-######### of people being downed and a survivor still on the hook.

I mean, if they kept the grab option for an injured survivor that would have been fine also. However this feels fine.

  • With the exception to Hangman's Trick, all of these sound like nice changes for players wanting to diversify their load-outs. Claustrophobia I feel has had the nicest change and will become rather more effective than what people may consider. Coup-de-Gras and Crowd Control are very nice alterations. Trail of Torment is a small change, but it's a step up so there are no complaints.

Hangman's Trick feels like it's a continuation of the meme "Nerf the Pig". It's actually quite an accomplishment to nerf the unnerfable! The one thing which I do like is turning it into a Scourge, but rather than do what they did, maybe do something like: as long as someone is on this Scourge Hook, survivors give Killer instinct whenever they are within 6m of any hook which continues for a couple of seconds once out of range. Also add that Scourge Hooks cannot be sabotaged as a mini extra bonus.

  • In some ways, you have to hand it to them: this perk was almost entirely useless up to the point of being near-impossible to make worse, yet by jove they bloody well did it!

  • When I read the first bit about them updating Sadako I was really excited! However, after reading the changes I'm more concerned.

I am happy to hear about Sadako's change in her demanifested state, but the TV and tape changes feel like they'll significantly weaken her. There's no real rush to lose tapes as the condemnation timer has gone, the ability to flow through TVs (which I enjoyed doing) to confuse feels like it's going to be much less effective. If people keep taking tapes and putting them in any TV, her teleportation will become even more weak. This makes me feel she's been made nerfed overall.

Of course, there will be the PTB and BHVR have been far more reactive to feedback, so I'm not ridiculously worried as if this is not working well then I'm confident they'll act (so in some ways I applaud them for trying something). I'm certainly hoping they know something most cannot see, but it's not adding up in my head right now.

  • Never say never, but presently it's unlikely. Not to say that BHVR haven't been trying, but it sounds like Netflix are not wanting a discussion for now.

  • I don't really feel it's all that important. Sometimes it's best to leave things to the imagination, rather than spelling out every detail.

It's understandable that a few were disclosed earlier on when BHVR unwittingly went against their original idea to purposefully ignore sexual preferences in characters, as well as maybe future characters. However, there could be an issue with characters having their sexuality as their defining characteristic. People are much more than just their sexuality and some characters are there to tell stories based on other aspects of who they are (religion, race, beliefs, etc..).

I'd have no real issue with it, but it would feel rather pointless and take away from people's ability to just come up with their own headcannons.

  • I wonder if Saku may become a character in one of the new games being developed within the DBD universe, so maybe she won't become another survivor but be walking within other areas of this thing. Perhaps in the narrative, story-driven game being developed?

I'd welcome her as a survivor, but I'd like to see greater things for her than killer-bait.

  • The Entity is like a sentient universe, able to create many realms to host trials at the same time to sustain itself. Something so massive won't be able to survive on a few trials, let alone reach into multiverses to grab more.

The campfire area is probably one of many where survivors regroup. Beyond these trial realms lie many more alternate realms which will possibly be explored by the two studios writing alternative games in DBD beyond the trials.

My belief is, because of a thing mentioned years back, the survivors and killers we play are a microscopic selection of all those trapped in the realm who ultimately escape. Can't remember where I read that, but my guess is that they either find a way out, or are ejected when the Entity dies (if that happens).

However, the Entity is constantly growing stronger, so overcrowding is not ever going to be a problem for it.

  • What's funny about this is that this sounds like getting those crowns originally was like a job. It's a game! You play something to enjoy it. Getting a crown at the time may be an achievement at the end, but it's old news now.

  • For survivor, mine are: Deja Vu (prior to the current buff), Bite the Bullet, Blood Pact, Smash Hit, We'll Make It, Lightweight

As for killer: Dark Devotion, Forced Penance, Spies from the Shadows, Blood Echo, Darkness Revealed, Lightborn

  • I've played with randomizer apps as soon as they came out and really it makes the game so much more fun than just sticking to the same handful of perks. It adds so much value and also shows that some "bad" perks actually have some decent uses!

Really glad they brought this into the game.

  • I am not a fan of pro-DBD games. They do come across as dull and predictable much of the time. Of course the guys who play it are great at the game, but every game essentially boils down to the same flow of chase, hook, tunnel, hook ... it's just very unentertaining to me.

  • It's there for variety. Not every map has to cater for a Blight or Wesker. Nearly bugger all maps work for a killer like Trapper, so Lery's actually helps there, alongside stealth.

I like the variety. Would be dull as ######### if every Map was the same.

  • Find an area to focus on, get survivors to waste those pallets quickly and then you'll find it a whole lot easier. Again, no guaranteed win, but without pallets the Game becomes a bit more even.

  • I feel brown add-ons are at their best when looking at Trapper and Wraith. They offer small yet interesting ways to play the game. I also like the meme ones with the extra BP.

So little changes like Trapper being able to not get caught on a trap or Wraith revealing itself after breaking a pallet - those little changes really do suit the add-ons.

  • The Terrormisus will probably be usable after the event anyway. I still see cakes from a year or two back cropping up in regular trials, so if you do not wish to use them during the event, just treat them as Party Streamers later on when you feel the games improve for you.

  • Personally, there's little I dislike about the game. Even unbalanced maps I enjoy because of the challenge.

In particular, as a survivor I enjoy being against a killer who is able to illicit fear. A really good killer can make even the least threatening such as Trapper into something to fear.

As a killer, I like the tougher fight and challenge that brings, so rarely would I tunnel (and if I do it's because the survivor made the error). I prefer tough challengers and feel a sense of satisfaction if I do well.

Basically, I love challenges. Hate taking the easy options.

  • If I were to choose, ironically it's one of the weakest killers: Myers.

However, it's that not knowing of when or how he will strike, especially on indoor maps. Despite his weaknesses, he is the only killer who can erase a survivor from a game in one single hit (add-on dependant).

Bubba comes a close second, with Executioner third.

  • There are quite a few options, come to think of it!

yeah people do tend to focus on the negative but i don't think people over hyping how bad solo q is. Also congrats on the games dude. I don't think you should conclude "it's just a bunch of amateur dramatics" just base on a good streak of solo q games tho. I had 30 plus streaks with pig using brown addons, and Myers using vanity mirror (all with little to no tactics or slow down). I wouldn't say these characters are fine even base on my own personal experience.

I didn't base the amateur dramatic comment on a streak. I based it on some of the reactions groups of individuals have. The streak was just to point out people have good streaks, followed by bad streaks and it is naturally what's happening. Some people are probably doing better than they think but focus on the negative trials, which is what I also stated in my comment.

So I feel amateur dramatics is a good way of describing some of the those complaining. My only amendment would be to have made my final sentence a bit clearer as to it being aimed at those who do over-exaggerate or outright lie. I hoped the rest of the comment may have made that clear, but hindsight dictates otherwise.

You expect us to believe that you have a 76% survival rate as a solo survivor?

I expect you to understand that my post stated a 76% survival rate in the past 25 games, not solo survivor in my entire time.

People have good runs and bad runs. It's happened to me and everyone else.

  • UK servers here. It's certainly nothing like what those individuals are saying from my experience. In the last 25 soloq survivor matches, I have escaped 19 times (5 by hatch, 1 of which the killer gave me). However, I can see what makes people believe it's worse since the 2 games which stand-out are when a Wraith and Huntress got extremely pissed-off and smacked me persistently on the hook.

However, for the other losses and wins the trials have been tough, yet fun. When putting into perspective, it's been enjoyable.

My guess is that some do indeed have real bad luck in matches or are screwed by the system. However, I feel most are either: a). Focused on the negative experiences too much, b). Lying to try and influence BHVR to change aspects of the game, c). Protecting their ego, d) Brought it upon themselves by being toxic or e). Trolling.

Again, there will be some who have just the worst luck and I would feel for them. At some point I am definitely due some real ######### luck! However, I do feel it's just a bunch of amateur dramatics.

  • It was not this event that showed those colours; it was always there. There have been and always will continue to be wankers with selfish and spoilt motivations. Some of them even think people are entitled because they're looked down upon because they choose those actions!

The best thing to do is make a note of all the times you do not have those scenarios vs. those that do. With some fortune, it may help to bring into perspective those wasters are the minority.

  • The game is good! The best way to enjoy it is not to go on the forums though, because then it appears everything is terrible and the game is about to die.

It's like walking into a second-rate haunted house at some dodgy travelling fair for the most part, although there are some more interesting topics about.

  • If I'm right in thinking, won't the Terrormisu offerings still be usable once the event ends? I've seen people bring in the gateau and cakes from previous events even in the past couple of weeks!

1 … 29 30 31 32 33 … 98
