  • Thats kinda sad if that is the case. I am curious though what would happen if a survivor broke the pallet while the killer is using the perk Dissolution

Triggered is an interesting word to use - I'd rather go with bored. Don't have work until Saturday, essay isn't due until Friday and it's only 100 or so words out from being done, sister's out with the dog… Why wouldn't I do a deep dive into some random stranger's grammar, especially after they insult someone else's. Pot, kettle, black - that sort of thing.

Also, if that's a book to you, I'd read more often. It's only 905 words - that's barely enough for a couple of paragraphs, let alone a chapter, let alone a book.

I'm glad you agree this is pointless though - a little bit like this discussion, pointless. I don't actually care, but in my mind writing that out was funny, so it's what I did during my 20 minute study break before going back to uni work. And at the end of the day, I'm glad you're happy - it's what all of us should strive for. I hope the rest of your evening can continue the joy the supposed novel from the self-appointed grammar police brought you.

    Oh, and it's self-appointed*.

You know your alright. I appreciate a bit of banter on the forums :)

If we're in the habit of complaining about grammar, I hope you have no complains to me checking yours? Ignore the quote line above, that's a forums error that copied over from Notepad and I can't seem to fix, sadly ^

"I can only assume that you have made this post as a troll?."

"You have" can be shortened to "you've" for each of reading, and there's no need to put a full stop following your question mark. A question mark ends a sentence, so there's no need to then re-end it.

"Ignoring the fact that the English grammer in this hurts my brain,…"

Everyone in this thread is speaking English; there's no need to clarify that the grammar specifically is English. Also, grammar*.

"…you basicly want to removed every part of his power and turn him into an m1 killer…"

Firstly, basically*. Secondly, "remove" not "removed" - "you basically want to remove…". Minor point, too, but the M for M1 should be capitalised.

    "…that can go stealth…"

The phrasing of "that can go stealth" is clunky - either go for "enter stealth" or "become stealthed", and instead of "can" the conditional "could" works better with the phrasing when using "that": "that could enter stealth".
Moreover, though, as the Wraith is a killer (a character and person, not a thing) the "that" is also not the best fit - you'll want to use "who", so while your "can" could be correct ("who can enter stealth/who can become stealthed") the "could" is still the best fit, IMO.

"…but then never have a benefit to that because of the insane debuff from uncloaking?"

This is missing a conditional clause, which was present in the last phrase (even when using "can"). "But then would never have a benefit" would work better.

Following this, you've got 2 line spacing, which can work if you're consistent, but in general you'll want to stick to just the one, particularly on these forums. Smaller line spacing can be accessed using shift + enter, so the double space is gramatically incorrect also. You can see what that looks like above.

"My assumption is that you have been destroyed by a good wraith player and just want him out of the game because entitled...."

Now this starts off promising (though again "you have" can be shortened to "you've" for easier reading, especially as these forums aren't generally hugely academic so contractions are allowed and oftne used, case in point), but you stumble near the end. The "just" is unnecessary to get your point across, though not hugely harmful to the sentence. There are, however, missing words between "because" and "entitled" - perhaps a "you're" wouldn't go amiss? "Because you're entitled" flows much better, but you've got some options here.
Also, an elipsis is only three - like this "…" - anything further is unnecessary and looks like the same issue with the question mark above - you're trying to end a sentence which the elipsis has already ended. While they can server many purposes, and don't always end a sentence, in this case the general rules of grammar dictate that it ends that sentence specifically.
Finally, Wraith is a proper noun as it refers to a specific person, place, or thing, so therefore must always be capitalised.

"I do hope your post was a joke because if it is a serious suggestion then you need to take a break from dbd my dude…"

Very nearly correct, but "dbd" should be "DbD" because it's a shortening of "Dead by Daylight", all of which are capitalised. Also, the "my dude" is a separate clause, so should be separated with a comma "…break from DbD, my dude,…" works much better.

"…because it's very clear your burnt out with dbd…"

You're using "it's" here, which is inconsistent with the rest of your answer. I'm aware I've corrected you not contracting before, but as here you are I'd advise that you pick one or the other - either go for a fully academic writing style, or use contractions constantly. To do otherwise reads poorly.
Also, it's "you're" and not "your". "You're" is a contraction of "you" and "are" - "because it is very clear you are burnt out…" - while "your" dictates that an object, place, person, or other thing belongs to the individual with whom you're speaking to. "Your burnt out" could work if it was instead "your burn out", as "burn" is then used as a noun and not a verb, however that would require further sentence restructing.
Finally, as before, it's "DbD" and not "dbd".

"…as of you're complaining about an of killer that is mid tier at best"

I'm not entirely sure what the "of" is supposed to be in either use - this simply isn't grammatically correct, and I'd suggest rewriting using a different word.
The good news? You've successfully used the correct "you're" here - why could you not do this earlier?
As you've contracted "you've" and "it's" above, contract "that is" to "that's" or uncontract the "it's" and "you're". Consistency is key.
Finally, you'll want to end on a full stop (or other related punctuation mark). For example: ".", "!", "?", "…" are all valid ways of ending a sentence.

Overall, I give it a 4/10, needs improvements. I'd advise working on your own grammatical standards before complaining about other people's. As the proverb goes, "Good writing is good editing, and vice-versa".

LMAO you spent that much time going through a message haha. I'm actually happy because is just goes to show that some people in these forums get triggered over anything.

Bottom line. This post is pointless. The suggestions for the "nerfs" were garbage and the original post was just pain to read with how badly it was written.

But I look forward to book number 2 from the self appointed grammer police 🚓 🚨

Seriously he one of the strongest and most insufferable killer to go againt. Seriously why he have so much broken stuff that make playing agains him almost impossible. For example:

    1. Why he has speed increase while cloaked?
    2. Why he has speed boost after uncloaked it makes mostly loops useless against him ( there is many times why il already vaulting but he is still get me cause stupid speed boost?
    3. Why flashlight dont stun him anymore while cloaked (literally it was only counterplay against hes busted power)?
    4. Why he has so insanely good addons that make him not just annoying but impossible to go against (fast breaking while cloaked, silent bell, gen aure, faster uncloaking and etc.)?
    5. And finally why he can bodyblock while cloaked its double unfair cause of his insane speed?

So to fix this broken mess he should be nerfed very heavily. Cause its not okay why so easy to play killer being that powerful that only comp SWF can do something against him. So here is fix suggestion

    1. Remove speed bonus while cloaked (He is already 4.6m killer and gain undetectable, more speed is unessary and broken)
    2. Remove speed boost after he is uncloaked (I think hes need to be slowdown after uncloaked like 8% hindered for 3 sec)
    3. Return lightburn mechanic
    4. Rework his addons to get Freddy/Pyramid Head treatment
    5. Make him lose colision while cloaked

I can only assume that you have made this post as a troll?. Ignoring the fact that the English grammer in this hurts my brain, you basicly want to removed every part of his power and turn him into an m1 killer that can go stealth but then never have a benefit to that because of the insane debuff from uncloaking?

My assumption is that you have been destroyed by a good wraith player and just want him out of the game because entitled....

I do hope your post was a joke because if it is a serious suggestion then you need to take a break from dbd my dude because it's very clear your burnt out with dbd as of you're complaining about an of killer that is mid tier at best

  • Maybe its just a load of people who don't want to play 2v8 but need rift fragments so are doing the tome and only the tome then going next?

  • I'm sorry but everyone is wrong. The Strongest Killer in the 2v8 mode is the Killer Queue times. Kills more killer games than anything else :)

  • There is only one perk I want restored to its former Glory…Franklins Demise. The entity demands sacrifice of not only survivors but their items :)

  • @christianrichards26 said:

As everyone knows, 2v8 killer queues have been abysmal since the mode was created. (im sitting a queue while writing this lol) I think BHVR should adopt a system that Overwatch use to have called priority passes. If a survivor ESCAPES anywhere between 1-3 matches in 2v8, they should be given a priority pass when they go to play killer that bumps them to the front of the queue. I think the survivor should have to escape so that people don't just go into a survivor game and throw in order to get passes. This would 100% encourage more people to play survivor and force them to take it seriously. As someone who has probably played anywhere between 75-100 matches, I only think it's fair that a player who refuses to touch survivor has to wait longer than people who are helping address the problem. What are your guys thoughts?

Ok there are a lot of things wrong with a priority pass in DBD.
    1. You will have killer mains who never play survivor trying to escape as survivor meaning they will do nothing all game but hide and wait for the exit gates to be powered/hatch. So this means more games where survivors aren't pulling their weight.

    2. You may never get the priority pass even if your trying unless you can put a decent chunk of time into the game each day as there is no guarantee you will escape a trial

    3. You are out right punishing killer only players for their gameplay choice. There should never be any punishments for the side which you choose to play unless it is a completely free to play game which DBD is not.

    4. Killers who choose not to play survivor and want to queue as killer anyway will face even longer que times because all the lobbies are going to be given to those who are happy to waste time getting several escapes first. This will take queue times for non priority pass players from 15 mins average to up to and over 30 min average.

    5. Let's say every killer main does escape 4 times first thing in the morning. Do they have priority all day? if so then hypothetically if all killers are doing it or even like 80% then the queue times won't be any faster because majority is in the same queue.

Having any sort of priority pass implemented would be really bad for the game as it will punish the killer player base forcing them to do things they don't want to do. And let's face it if your gonna add a priority pass into a game like DBD you just know it will be monetized

If behaviour want to make survivor more enticing for players then give some decent rewards for playing it. None of this sometimes 50% sometimes 200% BP bonus rubbish. Throw in a tome challenge that is "Play as Survivor 50 times in 2v8" and give like 3k shards or something as a reward. It won't cost behaviour anything as new cosmetics these days are auric cells anyway. Honestly if i saw this I would play 50 games just to get that reward

  • @jmwjmw27 said:

I've had this happen to me a few times, and I've accidentally done it once, where I forgot about the fact that I was in queue then started cooking something. There is a system in place that applies a DC penalty to you if you AFK the whole match, but I think if you don't move for 60 seconds upon game start it should kick you out so you become a bot. This way the match isn't ruined for everyone else, you can adjust the time up if you think 60 seconds is too little given how long queues are.

As for the length of queues, the novelty of killing with someone else is too much to really be able to do anything about queue times. Maybe +400% bloodpoint incentive on survivors, but I doubt even that would be enough.

Where exactly is it stated you get a DC penalty for being AFK all match? Never have i known that to be a thing in DBD and never seen it stated anywhere.

There has been an issue with AFK killers in 2v8 who are doing it just to be malicious but I do think an auto kick feature would be good for afk killers and survivors.

  • @I_Cant_Loop said:

I don't know why anyone would subject themselves to these ridiculously long killer queue times, especially given how survivor-sided this event is. Apparently killers weren't nerfed enough because there are still too many people who want to play the killer side!

Some have suggested iri shards to help incentivize more people to play survivor during the event. People really don't seem to care that much about crazy high BP incentives. I think it would help a lot, but of course BHVR gets worried about losing revenue for cosmetics once they start handing out shards, so it's not a simple business decision.

I think the reason killers still que up for this mode is because the killer que times in normal mode are nearly as long right now. last night I went back to 1v4 mode and was subject to 8 - 10 minute que times for killer. So i get why killers would que up for 2v8.
What strikes me weird is although killer is seen as the more fun side to play in 2v8 something else must be going on for ques to be that long. Given that you need to get 8 survivors into the lobby either there really is just a ton more killer players than survivor or the matchmaking just doesn't work.
Not sure if there was any clarification on this before but is MMR factored in with the 2v8 mode. If it wasn't stated then i would assume that either it is and its intentional or it is and BHVR forgot to turn it off because if lobbies are trying to be matched based on MMR then that would explain the horrific que times at least for the killer side.

    1v4 isn’t balanced, it’s killer-sided

2v8 leans survivor I think so survivors have an incentive to play. A lot of what was brought to this iteration of survivor is a response to (you guessed it) killers attempting to optimize the fun out of the original 2v8 via ######### tactics.

Survivors eventually stopped queueing for 2v8 so BHVR tried to address some of their concerns this time around.

If you did well with Wraith, stick to that killer. If you’re not decent with the other choices it’s probably not wise to experiment in this game mode.

Never said the original game was balanced i know it is very killer sided as a killer main. was saying the first game made the original feel balanced lol.

I get what your saying though. a lot of killers did take it to far to optimise the game but i feel with the new stratagies coming about this time on survivor side that survivor groups are slowly trying to do a similar thing. Hopefully its just a few groups as its a lot harder to organise 8 people than it is a duo.

  • @LowTierGod said:

The point is for you to enjoy the game but here you are crying about balance.

im not crying about balance im stating that the killer experience isn't fun. I will admit i tried one more game it wasn't so bad but only because i played wraith that i'm kinda good at and i effectivly had to play dirty to win.
But thank you for your valuable input into the conversation your comments have been noted.

  • @radiantHero23 said:

I think you misunderstood. 2v8 is not supposed to be balanced.

That's what makes it fun for me. It's chaos and that is great.

As killer, it feels like I'm doing the impossible each match. As survivor it feels like a fever dream.

    @Jacknalls_Paw said:

It's not supposed to be balanced but chaotic and fun instead, otherwise killer queue would skyrocket even more.

This isn't chaos. its just unfun Imo.

I wouldn't mind so much if it actually was chaotic but honestly that game didn't feel chaotic it just felt unfair. If BHVR want to actually put out a true chaotic mode for 2v8 then it needs to be the full killer roster avaliable and everyone both survivors and killers have random perks. Sort of a combo off 2v8 and Chaos Shuffle.

  • Im 36 and will be playing video games till the end. I don't get the insult you got to be honest. These young whippersnappers need to learn to respect their elders :)
Now the real question everyone should be asking is why they still allow kids (under 18s) to play this game?

  • @Laluzi said:

If used brainlessly, it's a killer perk, but I disagree that it helps killers in its intended use case.

Tunneling isn't about damage states, it's about achieving a 3v1 as soon as possible, because that's the point where you can pressure survivors out of ever being able to work on gens (or only able to work on gens once your chases take longer than reaching the unhook, unhooking, and healing… minus healing if they don't heal, but then your chases only need one damage state. Basically the survivors have to be really good in chase to progress the game, and most survivors are not.) Even if a player on the hook has less health states to burn through, the game is basically over for survivors as soon as they're removed from the game unless 3+ gens have already been done, so if I'm one of the players the killer is ignoring? I would rather spend my hook states now, prolonging the 4v1, than I would once it's a 3v1 and the survivors are just scrambling in circles. Saving my hook state for later won't do me any good unless the tunneled survivor can last 5 gens on their own.

And it can also be used aggressively. Imagine the SWFs with a designated looper - the one who clicky clicks and teabags, who fast vaults whenever the killer isn't paying attention to them. This is the most confident looper on the team. Smart killers will avoid them. Baited ones will fall for it and throw everything trying to kill them. This player can now potentially have 6 chases instead of 3, which is just insane.

Also, it's pretty hard to tunnel with Devour unless you're a teleport killer because Devour requires you to be far from the hook if you want stacks. Devour's also wildly unreliable unless survivors don't know what bones are… and bypasses health states by 3 stacks and bypasses the need for tunneling entirely when you do pull off the 5-stack, so I don't think it really factors here.

I think it really depends why a killer is tunneling. If I choose to tunnel in a game its to get an advantage not to get into a 3v1 because ive noticed a lot of time survivors will make a lot of mistakes when a killer tunnels and you get 2 other survivors protecting the 1. this means only one person working on gens and thats the perfect scenario, at least for me.

I'm excited to see how often this perk is used because as someone who runs devour nearly every game I think this perk is gonna help me a lot if I identify an easy down survivor who has the potential of 6 hook states.

As for a god looper having 6 chases then any killer who entertains that is just dumb. If I identify someone who is cracked at looping, gives the bags, clicky clicky (i run franklins so don't usually have to worry about this one) then that survivor is just never having a chase with me. I've had games where ive ignored them all game and just let them get the gate or hatch because would rather secure the 3k than waste the game chasing someone i may or may not be able to catch.

Regarding the "tunnel for devour" comment you would be shocked just how close you can be and still get your token for devour. Most of the time as someone like Nemi who is base speed im still able to get back to hook and pressure the survivors whilst getting my stack of devour.

    In-depth detail explanation below.

So sick of this, I'm sick of having to deal with a penalty all because either my teammates don't do anything all game so the killer just always targets me for actually trying to do gens because no one else is working on one or the killer just somehow acts like I'm obsession(when I'm clearly not & rarely ever am) and want to tunnel me all game and the only reason why it's all game because I'm trying to go on a hook take myself out the game(die on the hook) because I'm not having fun so why be forced to play a game that I'm not having fun in which is also why I've been uninstalled this game and just recently got back into it so to continue I'm still in the game because of survivors keep on unhooking me when I'm clearly trying to get out of the game, I hate doing all that in a game like I'm the type of person that plays the game the way is meant to be played because if a game is fun you can just play it the way it's meant to be played So I'm not trying to do anything other than play the game the way it is meant to be played, that said the game forces you to try to get yourself killed and then put on a hook to #########, now a lot of killers see you once right into them and don't kill you and keep you in the game, even nodding their heads back and forth saying no, this has to be the most stupidest game mechanic I ever seen like this game isn't even ranked, it doesn't even have a rank mode yet we're forced a penalty no matter the circumstances?

Literally had a game yesterday where my whole team and I was being slugged to death, we were up against the alien from the alien movie series, one survivor already quit out the game within the first 60 seconds I don't know what happened but judging how I ended up getting slugged to death, it was probably some BS that made them leave. I was on a hook several times but had gotten saved by people clearly looking at me trying to kill myself like I don't understand the game, I don't understand the studio behind the game and I don't understand these goofy teammates that try to force you to play something you don't want to play, If you're playing basketball and you're wide open and nobody's passing you the ball would you keep standing there wide open or go do something else? Even if you're going to still play basketball at that point You're not going to play with those people so you would be leaving that game if you had any sense right? So what sense does it make to play video games that you're not having fun but to still force people to play those games that they're not having fun? Sorriest game mechanic ever, tou block people, you report people, nothing changes anything. They have got to be the worst dev studio on the planet and that saying something with companies lik Activision with call of duty out there or Ubisoft with XDefiant, that game has delayed for like a year to fix netcode, had a beta with nothing was fixed, season 1 came around the game was horrible was even worse than the beta, 2 and a half seasons in and a half seasons in and the netcode even worse then it was in season 1 and the game is now sluggish and it's a fast paced PvP so that makes it extremely frustrating as well as extremely horrible but guess what? Still more fun then this goofy bs, You're having a problem with the game, whether it's people using a overpowered gun or overpowered team whatever you can leave out the game no question no penalty.

I just don't understand people these days. People want easy wins yet the best way to win is to just divide and conquer and gen rush, played against a OP killer and gen rushed tf outta him yesterday(the one team that did gens) like if it doesn't work and you keep doing it over and over again that is just insanity, like you're not going to escape allowing only one person to do gens which mean only one gen is getting worked on so the killer follows the one gen that they hear, resulting in the only one doing gens getting taken out quickly, If you go to the game store to see the reviews on this game, it's always negative stuff about this game, so much camping and tunneling. Funny thing is I'm rarely ever the obsession but basically every game the way how I'm tunneled as well as can't you would think I'm the obsession.

As far as The game that I mentioned previously where I was getting slugged to death I had a full bar I wasn't going to wait that, then the teammates went out of their way to constantly keep unhooking me when the killer tried to kill me before then the killer just started slugging everybody and not hanging anybody on hooks. I had the most patience I ever had I waited about 10 minutes after I got unhooked and finally gave up and said F this I'm out.

First game on today, moments ago which triggered this post, me and three people work on a gen, I see the glow of Michael watching them from around the corner so I take off running, Dwight is the one that Michael sees so he goes after him, I'm running away from the scene, I already been running away from the scene technically so I have some distance but yet I keep hearing his music so next thing I know I see the glow and he's behind me So he gives up the white who is the obsession to come after me for what? When I already distance myself from that whole entire thing so he went out of his way to get me, why? When he had everybody buy the gen that he could have easily slugged because he got to tier 3, He could have potentially had two or three hooks right there but when are his way to get me? I just don't get it when I finally get games when people do gens the killer just singles me out even early in game so it's impossible for me to have done anything other than a one thing that pretty much my other teammates are doing so why am I getting tunnelled. I play all types of survivors from Thalita to Meg, Kate, Yui, Mikayla and Zarina So it's not like I played one person, I do know that killers always go after Megs or Dwight's but that's not even the case in my games, I chalked it up to just being unlucky to be honest. I never have luck when it comes to PvPs whether it's teammates or killers. Even my apex days I will always have the worst teammates that didn't want to listen to anything I say even after giving them everything they wanted as well as saving them numerous times and being the kill leader.

Another thing I'm sick of is all PVPs being the same type of boring/toxic/fustrating, I play XDefiant a fast paced PvP, everybody uses the same OP bs, same thing here, every killer runs the same perks, exposed, the gen locking perk, some stealth killer and either some killer that can one shot you, or long distance attacks, there's no cool downs or anything yet sprint burst is for a measly 3 seconds in a game where the killer walks faster than you run as well as crows give away your every move every 2 seconds, You're a scratch marks are shown, you leave blood trails, you make a bunch of noise, like how many crutches do killers need have stealth as well as the same hex totems. You get exhausted for 60 seconds with Sprint burst only lasts for 3 seconds like what, then you got other perks that are very good so they get to be used only one time per trial meanwhile Killers can spam the hell out of all these OP things, even the perk that locks the exit gate for a whole 3 minutes or gens, like that's the one thing we have to come back these killers like this dev team can't make a balanced game if it fell into their laps and gave them credit for it. Had a whole 5-minute penalty I had to wait then a 15 minute penalty all because Michael wants to tunnel me when I'm not even obsession smfh.

Last but not least three things that will change this game drastically is to 1 add game chat, 2 take away penalties, just add bots, If they want penalties have it in ranked mode. Actually give penalties to people that can't and things like that like they can tell if a killer is literally in front of a hook because after all you get a meter for it now well there should be a thing where if a killer stands in front of someone for more than five or so seconds they should automatically get a penalty otherwise the exhausted status when you unhook someone should get buffed, I hate leaving people on the hook all because of a killer who's face camping when that survivor actually was vital to our escape. Instead of face camping why not just go to one of the exit gates and try to take down another survivor, The way this game is it kind of makes the killer camp when they're about to lose So if you're the last person that goes down when the exit gates get open yeah good luck to you. I'm really hoping someone takes this formula but make it 10 times better with game chat as well as no penalties like I would take the BS in this game if I can just leave out from any game I might having fun like who has time to waste on the video game that not having fun, not only that people have real lives so they have to leave So giving people penalties is ridiculous

Far to long post didnt read it but based on a skim read your angry that you are giving up letting your team down and survivors are unhooking you? As a killer main there is nothing i hate more than a survivor giving up on hook when the game is very much winnable by survivors. If i have a survivor who gets hooked, tries to 4% to get out of the game then gets rescued followed by them running up to me pointing at a hook then you better be ready for a 4 minutes bleed because that's the punishment in my games for giving up. Now that may seem toxic but there is no punishment for the one who gives up on hook only punishment for the rest of the team therefore within my games I take it upon myself to dish out that punishment in the name of the Entity.

Killers. If you find a survivor like this, make sure they survive as long as possible. Don't kill them until they can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

    Yes Mate
Best i had survivor tried to give up within 30 seconds because i franklin their flashlight. They were forced to play out that entire game as i just ignored them all game untill end game. In that particular game i let everyone apart from this person live because Justice.

Seriously? you complaining because instead of being hooked at the end your able to be moried? Whats the big deal..

Wait let me guess. every single game your slugged for the mori and you can't wait an additional 30 seconds to be out of the game?

This is a video of a Xeno (aka a killer with a very strong antiloop power) running a full chase build (supposed to make said antiloop even stronger) getting absolutely obliterated by survivors doing 5 gens in less than 3 minutes. And then people wonder why are killers inclined to run full slowdown builds even on top tier killers ?

Seriously, at this point only average survivor mains can claim that "good killers don't need gen slowdown perks" cause they want to have easier games against them, but the gaslighting has got to stop at some point.

Mate survivors complain about ANY perks being run by killer. I run lethal, BBQ, Franklins and Devour. Devour gets got in 30 seconds. everyone drops their items meaning im running just lethal bbq yet im still told im running an "OP Toxic Build"

  • I understand that everyone and their mother is complaining right now "he slugged, he camped, he tunneled" however majority of the time when a survivor complains about tunneling its either just false and there wasn't any tunneling happening or its survivor induced. Now im not saying that there isn't any hardcore tunneling because of course their is but its not happening as often as everyone claims.
If you think your being tunneled every game then record your games and post them for others to view. I would think that at worst your are being "tunneled" maybe 1 or 2 games in every 10.
I think the term Tunnel has lost all meaning because its used for every little situation.
For example if i hook you, go off and hook someone else then i find you again. thats not tunneling. Thats your team not trying to take aggro for you.
Or how about i come back to hook because i can't find anyone with the aim of chasing the survivor who rescued. But they have gone stealth so my only option is to chase the recently hooked. Thats survivor induced tunneling
Or my favourite one the one just unhooked uses their Base kit BT to body block from going for the unhooker meaning the killer is forced to hit the recently hooked. Thats not tunneling thats just VERY poor gameplay by survivors because at that point your basicly saying "don't chase them go for me mr killer but im gonna call this toxic tunneling in end game".

I wish survivor mains would just get over it already and if you really want to complain that every game your being camped, slugged or tunneled then I say proove it else no one is going to believe you. If your on steam there is now a way to record your games so no excuse not to get evidence if you play steam.

  • Here's a radical idea. However the game has gone just move on. You get slugged then its a 4 minute game from the time your downed. You get tunneled then your likely going to be able to go next quickly.
If your in a swf and don't want to wait then your "friends" should really do a better job at managing the killer in terms of trying to stop the tunnel ect or as a group decide if a killer is going to play like that you all just go next.

Complaining about any method a killer uses to complete their objective is pointless because no matter what BHVR does or how much the community complains about it nothing will stop.
Base kit BT to reduce tunneling. You eat the bt hit and tunnel anyway
Anti camp mechanics - You proxy camp

Both killer and survivor have really obnoxious ways to win the game but thats just the nature of what DBD has become. Gen rushing, bully squads, toxic behaviour, slugging, camping, tunneling its all part of the game and I think everyone needs to accept it. If you can't then maybe its time to find another game because as i said nothing is ever gonna change and the obnoxious gameplay styles on both sides have always been there and always will be.

Gotta give people somethin to grind for you know? I mean, say we removed perk tiers and gave people fully leveled perks at Prestige 1. What should the reward be for P2 and P3? Should we just shuffle all the other rewards 2 levels earlier?

by that logic why do we not get anything for p10 and above? What you work for after you unlocked all perks is items, offerings and addons. not to mention having that shiny badge to show how addicted to the game you are :)

  • If you play DBD regularly then your MMR is likely at soft cap. Such is the nature of having a cap on MMR eventually everyone will be there because its easier to gain MMR than it is lose it. This is why after several months of playing your lobbies will be so random it feels like MMR isn't even a thing.

I have games as killer with god teams that destroy me but then have games the complete opposite where I destroy them. Very rarely do i get a game which i feel was a fair and balanced game in terms of skill level

  • @Emeal said:

I think the main game has changed so much it would be too incompatible, it would also require loads of work to make it safe due to hackers knowing the older codes better than the new, the question then is… How many people would find this version funny for how long? and Is it worth it in order to give people a new perspective on issues regarding the game?

The incompatibility is why i suggested that instead of just plonking the old game in a new game mode would have old versions of maps and old versions of perks. They re-made these for 2v8 so its not out of the range of possibility to assume they can't do it for this.

I think everyone missed the point it would be a new game mode built from scratch using old content. No old code, no old vulnerabilities that the old versions had it would be basicly Old School DBD HD remake so to speak.

As for how long people would play it for. maybe not long but for a 1 or 2 week game mode it wouldn't really matter

The topic of aura perks and their answers has been on my mind lately, as it has for a lot of us, and while I broadly think there's no huge overbearing problems with either side as a whole, that doesn't mean things can't be improved from either direction.

Something that I've been thinking about is Object of Obsession as an answer to aura perks without being an aura blocker, and how it + Distortion have a sideways benefit of telling you when the killer's reading your aura to begin with.

It lead me to consider Spine Chill, and how both thematically and mechanically that perk could very easily be given the same benefit as its primary draw. Something like the following:

    • When the killer has clear line of sight of you within 36 metres, or when the killer reveals your aura at any distance, Spine Chill activates. While Spine Chill is activated, increase the action speed of Blessing, Cleansing, Gate-Opening, Healing, Repairing, Sabotaging, Unhooking, and Unlocking by 2/4/6 %.

That list of actions is just what Spine Chill does now, for the record. I could easily see removing one or two here and there in exchange for the benefit being more consistently applied, or perhaps adding some kind of cooldown to the aura reading effect to limit its consistency. That kind of thing would need to be tested, that's just basic balance tweaking.

The idea here is to revitalise Spine Chill with a new niche, as it's somewhat lacking at the moment, and to sort of position it in the middle of Distortion and Object of Obsession in terms of design space: Distortion blocks auras but has a chance to not have tokens at any given moment, Object of Obsession turns auras around on the killer at the cost of also showing your aura unprompted… and Spine Chill alerts you to what aura perks the killer has but doesn't actually interact with them outside that, other than with a small action speed bonus. To this end, I'd also suggest giving it an audio tell like Distortion has, just to make sure it works in that niche.

It'd be a nice way of giving the "know what the killer has" effect with more consistency and no downside, while still being weaker overall than the other two perks on account of its extra effect not being the strongest. It'd also be nice as it's a general pool perk, rather than a teachable- Distortion is on a character you can get with shards, at least, but Object is behind an actual paywall.

Plus, it's really thematic to Spine Chill's flavour text and icon, which is a bonus.

What do we think? Would Spine Chill's current list of effects be perfectly fine here, or would it need toning down to not be too strong?

I really like this. When you think Spine Chill you think of that feeling you get that your being watched. Having it activate on aura read makes complete sense and doesn't break the perk to the point that its overpowered. I hope that some devs see this and consider a change like this because i think it would bring spine chill to a point that its used a fair bit more

    @SoGo said:

    Oh, what a coincidence!

I made a rework idea some time ago that would fit this perfectly. Initially I thought of giving it to Premonition, but decided to use Spine Chill for it instead.

    • This perk activates when your aura is shown to the killer. While your aura is revealed, the perk's icon lights up and an auditory warning starts playing.
    • For every 12/10/8 seconds of your aura being revealed, gain a token, up to 2/3/4. Each token delays the revealed aura by 1 second.

(Explanation: If you have 4 tokens and the killer uses an aura reading perk, he is still able to see your aura, but not where you are currently, but where you were 4 seconds ago. The aura reading also starts and ends later, so the duration of the aura read stays the same.)

    What do you think?

Edit: Your idea is fine too, but as others mentioned, it would become a sidegrade to Object of Obsession.

This is an interesting idea and one that I feel could be a great change to the way aura's seen. However in this idea of yours are you saying then that all auras are stationary.
The way lets say BBQ chilli works is i see your aura for x amount of seconds and i can see which direction your running if your moving. Now with your idea i would get that information 4 seconds delayed but would the aura still be running so I can track your direction because if not then you are turning an aura reading perk into a survivor screaming revealing their position type perk.

  • My issue with wanting 11 hooks before mori is it won't change how a game is played. The new mori system isn't why killers slug for the 4k, they have been doing that for years. However what is more prevalent is slugging the last person waiting for the second last survivor to die on hook so they can mori which i feel is fine because its usually less than a minute of waiting.

The big issue with the 11 hook requirement is this.
I go into a game and 1 survivor is stealthing all game. I hook and kill everyone else…great thats 9 hooks. Now i find the stealthy one and want to mori them but i can't because they decided to stealth all game and not help their team.
In order to get a mori in a game like that (lets face it there is always that one solo q team mate who does it) is killers would have to risk throwing the game to find that one stealthy survivor and at that point tunnel them to ensure they don't lose them again. Then it becomes a complaint about a tunnel.

  • I would love to see it but alas i don't think it ever will. The only thing i can think of to make it work is similar to how games like Trackmania or old school doom do it and that is to record inputs and have them translate into a replay. Even then likely not possible with the current way DBD is coded.

I would say if your intention is to review footage for either checking for cheaters or just to look back at your gameplay then i would suggest recording your gameplay every game.
I do this myself so if i have a game where I think to myself "those gens got done far to fast" or "that survivor seem to gain to much distance" i can go back and check the footage and see for myself. It also has the side benefit that if you get an insanely good play you want to post you have the video already :)

  • @BetaRaider said:

I am really getting tired cause nobody wants to be the 4th person to die cause now it is just a Mori, and it is getting very tiring. BDB needs to remove this. I have had so many game where people will try to die on the hook instead of having to deal with the Mori. Then again they will slug the 3rd person and then track the 4th down, put one on the hook and then wait for them to die just to Mori. I didn't mind the Mori every now and then, but every single match and it get tiring, and boring.

What does it matter. You suffer an extremely short animation or you suffer a walk to hook and hook animation. Either way the game is over why not let the mori happen?
The truely boring thing here is the amount of complaints moris get.
Honestly now every complaint i see is just someone crying because they lost the game and had to endure a few second animation. If you hate it that much DC and take a longer time out which means we see less of those types of players in the game.
The new mori system hasn't changed how games are played and 4 man slugging is not how you get a mori and hasn't come about because of this new system.

If i had to guess the ONLY reason base kit mori is in the game is because BHVR has plans to sell cosmetic mori animations in the store. Which I will certainty buy if they are decent

The way i see it is this.

Survivors are crying on the forums about this mori because killers are "being toxic" with it so i will tell you all what killers are told when they complain about tbags at the exit gate. Get over it its just a game and it doesn't matter.

Don't like the game don't play the game it really is that simple because the crux of it is there are plenty of people who will continue to play this game regardless of the changes because they treat it as a bit of fun and if your not having fun then don't play it.
I wish sometimes that everyone who threatens to "leave the game for good" on the forums actually did and didn't come back because eventually the community would just be filled with those who want to just play the game and not sit and complain about it.

  • This mori change has hasn't really changed much in terms of slugging. Killers who want to play like that will play like that. Its like the anti camp change. killer still camp just proxy instead of face.
All this mori change has done is maybe caused the second to last person being slugged so the killer can find and hook the last person. Its at worse a 4 minute slug timer you have to deal with and 9/10 times your not slugged that long unless a killer is purely going for bleed out (which has nothing to do with mori's and hasn't increased because of it).

Personally i think those complaining about base kit mori, which give no gameplay advantage to the killer, should kinda just get over it and accept this is the way it is. Killer players had to accept all the base kit changes survivors got like Anti camp and Base kit BT which DID effect gameplay.

Gates not getting opened, survivors giving up, killers sweating like their mom's lives are on the line. What is the fun aspect here?! What i can get tunneled at 5 gens and then humped for 4 minutes oh great. Seriously I'm getting so sick of this game and if the devs think I'm buying ######### DLC and outfits they can think again!

I can guarentee this isn't every game or even half your games mate. Before deciding that this game is nothing but toxic record a good 20 games and see exactly how many are that bad. you will be shocked at how few have that level of toxicity.
The other thing is if you are feeling this way its the perfect time to take a step back from the game

  • Instead of some form of base kit unbreakble why not at this point just buff the unbreakable perk. Instead of a single use have 2 or even 3 charges. This would mean that slugging would not be an ideal strategy at all for killers.

However i will note that every post i see about slugging its called a strategy. Why should ways to kill in the game be stopped fully? Reduce it sure, make it harder sure but it should never be removed from the game because when you start out right removing potential strategies from the game your telling players how they can or cannot play.
Also removing one hated strategy from the game will lead to others such as camping and tunnelling eventually being removed from the game meaning killers then have no alternative ways of playing except down, hook, hunt, down, hook, hunt and so on.

All these strategies are completely fair when used in a general game what everyone needs to make a point of in posts complaining is this is about a toxic use of these strategies. Such as 4k slugging at 5 gens, Hardcode tunnelling at 5 gens. Not complain about slugging because its the best option at the time. Or tunneling because the unhooker has hidden leaving the only option a tunnel unless the killer just throws.

  • @Lixadonna said:

When Killer want to be able to open Exit Gates at any time match not going their way but can't be bothered to open Exit Gates during End Game and complain about 99 Gates.

I dont understand killers who do this tbh. If the game has gone bad the moment that last gen is done the gate is opened by me to force a quick endgame.

Some way to open the gate during the match if killers want out i think is a good idea but it has to have limitations. X amount of time played for example so you can't just load in, get borgo and leave. I get surivors can do this which i think sucks.
To stop survivors doing it i would suggest that "attempt to escape" doesn't reduce your hook timer. 3 chances to try to escape then you dangle for the entire hook state only being able to escape in stage 2

  • @OrangeBear said:

What does "abusing deep wound mechanics" mean?

in this instance it was a 4 man group running a specific perk set that meant that despite going down constantly they were able to quickly heal off the floor and basically have permanent deep wounds. similar to the videos posted by skerms and others have done.

It worked because they are very good at the game and i play a handful of games per week so am at a lower skill bracket so no disputing that. But as i was playing wraith who in a single loop has no power I had no chance to snowball because by time i got 3 people down (all 4 were together at all times) the last one got the first down back up and the deep wounds + metal of man activates meaning everyone is back up. Basically rince and repeat this.

i say abusing. its more like just using perks in a very specific way to basically be immortal in the 4 man group and this type of gameplay is purely down to bad perk design by the devs unfortunately.

  • @Royval said:

I feel like killers should be able to just open the gates whenever they want to.

This would be a great change to the game. Maybe not whenever they want but when certain criteria have been met to give the match a chance.

This is probably the most fair way of doing things, however I'm not a fan of giving either side a "give up" option tbh

The problem is survivor side already has ways to give up. Be that let go on hook or simply just go find the killer and point at the hook as a sign they are giving up. survivors have always had a way to get out of a game they don't want to be in.

    @Senaxu said:

Yes, a valid suggestion in itself.

But you always have to think the whole thing through carefully before implementing something like that.

As someone has already said: If the killer opens the exit gates (if there are still gens left to do) and thus starts the end game, all of his perks and also his power should be deactivated at the same time so that game mechanics cannot be used to his advantage, just one example.

If all survivors DC in a match and the killer is left with 4 bots, the killer should either be allowed to DC too (without penalty) or the bots should be programmed so that they run out directly when the killer opens the exit gate.

On the survivors side there could also be something like this where a special voting(majority) can take place when specific conditions are met.

But here too, the criteria for such a special vote would have to be chosen very strictly in order not to abuse the system to one's advantage (wrong killer, wrong map) as a reason for an instant ff vote.

Agreed there has to be a lot of things thought through before implementing anything like this.
Regarding DC i believe that if any single player D/Cs withing x amount of minutes of the game then the entire game is ended, some bonus blood points given to the rest of the survivors/killers left in the game and everyone gets to que for another game.

Some form of "out" is needed for many reasons for example like u said if 4 disconnects and 4 bots. I don't want to be in a game with 4 bots however at the very least they will slam gens if u leave them alone.

    @Autharia said:

It's really clear killers here don't read the Reddit posts from all the killer mains there praising the task manager quit to dodge DC penalties.

This only works before the game has fully loaded in. Both survivors and killers do it if a map offering is played that is usually getting abused because of a bug or many other reasons. I will always stand by the fact that disconnecting before a match begins is fine because no one is commited to that game untill the game officially starts.

  • So you complain you go down to fast in 2v8 because your "running like a snail" and that gens take 5 years to pop.
So gen speeds are faster in 2v8 mode and them going slow has nothing to do with the game it has everything to do with your team.

The running slow i don't understand this. You run just as fast as you would in normal games. Bring the sprint burst class if your bothered by it. The fact that every tree and rock has a pallet on it means that a survivor if they wanted to could just run pallet to pallet for ages while being chased (yes 2 killers could outplay you but for this example its 1v1) meaning you distract a killer for an extreamly long amount of time.

I'm a killer main but played a lot of survivor in this event due to que times and as someone who is hot garbage at looping i was able to run a wraith for a good 40 seconds before my first hit.

Bottom line is the speeds are fine. if survivors wanted to win every game simply slam gens there is nothing killers can do about it.

  • Honestly why are blindness addons (or blindness perks for that matter) even a thing no matter how long the duration. Blindness is that one effect where if a survivor has it then "meh" they deal with it. If blindness removed the initial alert of things like hooking so that you are truly blind when a survivor is hooked then it would be strong and used but given that you get given the location of a hooked survivor then blindness is really only efficient if a killer is slugging.
Regarding this PURPLE addon I get the feeling the team in charge of it just simply run out of ideas (which is why all blindness addons for every killer exists). This addon could have easily done something like increase the speed boost from the scent balls in wolf form, extend the range of hellfire or even done something to make bat form useful like have survivors intermittently blink into view instead of being purely invisible for bonus tracking
Just another example of lazy design on the devs part unfortunately.

  • I played survivor for the tome challenge and I will not be doing that anymore. its extreamly boring to play as there is literally nothing to do apart from gens. Because this is a cut down version of DBD the only thing survivors have to do is gens so what's the point of playing.
As a result no one wants to play survivor as even if u lose as killer you can still actually have fun with the game as there is still a fun objective to do.
I've played 3 matches as killer so far and racked up a total of 45 minutes + queue time

It makes sense why it would take a while. It needs to look for another killer, not queued up as the one you are playing as.

The player numbers will probably be insane for it tho

I was trying to que with a friend so all it had to do was find 8 survivors lol

  • Be thankful you got a game. Been in a killer que for over 5 minutes then my game crashed twice now.

This is just the first iteration of the mode. It will be available temporarily and then disabled so that they can look at the stats, gauge feedback, and make changes for the next time it's added. If they were to release the mode with everything unlocked, it could be possible for a group of killers to use a broken combo that is unwinnable for the survivors, or for survivors to use a combo of perks that make them impossible to catch in a chase.

Sure this is the first iteration but from the gameplay we have seen judgement can be made on how it will play out. Again I hope im wrong and this is a really fun gamemode.
As for the possibility of broken combos should everything be available, of course there would be. So an easy way to fix this is random perk mode for 2v8. Stops any op perk strategies forming or overly toxic gameplay (8 players running full head on builds bullying for example)

Once this game mode has come and gone at the very least they need to enable every killer so that everyone can play the killers they want to play. This time round is gonna be the same due of killers or killers dodging every solo que lobby that has a trapper XD

  • I mean crazy idea here but every bug fix why don't they actually test them rather than just push them to live? I'm sure all devs will say "we test every patch before launch but some things do fall thru the cracks" but come on the latest round of bugs are game breaking and so obvious that its there it shows no testing was done at all.

Legit suggestion. Have more PTB's. Every time you do a PTB you make changes afterwards and that's fine. But once you have made your changes throw out another PTB with these changes for like 24 or 48 hours and ask players to just test it. You don't even have to change anything gameplay wise from this new PTB you simply have to check for game breaking bugs. This will ensure that what goes live has been tested by the player base and its not tested on live servers.
Of course some bugs are so unique that its not always possible to spot them when testing the update but a massive hole in the side of a map….thats kinda easy to spot if you tested the update before live.

  • Usually characters and occasionally cosmetics. Unless a cosmetic is a drastic difference (Mr puddles for clown for example) i generally don't bother with cosmetics so i just save the shards for new unlicensed characters

  • that depends where you are located but here in the UK updates and new things are usually dropped at 4pm UK time.

    So… Title.

  • I don't think it needs a nerf. if survivors want to run WoO its a perk slot not being used by some other meta perk. What I am more worried about is they change this perk a lot and then add some sort of WoO as a basekit feature for survivors as we all know the devs love to add basekit things that should be perks on both survivor and killer sides.

  • Just chiming In here.

I've been running franklins on every build way before weave became a thing. I do this because for some reason survivors think that their items are the thing that will win them the game and clearly can't play with just 4 meta perks only they have to bring a stacked toolbox or flashlight.

With the addition of weave its just made franklins have a use more than just removing an item. But here's the thing. If a killer has both perks that's 2 gen regression perks we aren't brining.

So Many complain about this perk combo and I've had people insta give up against it (fyi do that in my game enjoy a 4 min slug). It's so easy to counter and if you do counter it you just removed half a build from a killer.

This combo is also only decent on mobility killers for the most part as a lot of the time the aura reading you get is cross map.

Once you know the killer has it drop your item in the corner and carry on the game as normal. If you truly need the item to either enjoy your game or do well in the match then clearly your mmr is to high and you are boosted at the game because the perks you bring should be all you need

  • I asked this same question I guess it's just a 1v 8 if a killer dc. Honestly this game mode will be played for a couple of days and then no killer is gonna want to play it.

  • Borgo, borgo and.....borgo.

  • I pray they add some sort of system that ends the game on the case of a disconnect. Else your right it will just be a case of 8 survivors not completing the game and just trolling/being toxic to the killer

  • Also experiencing this. My killer games multiple gens being done at same time with not enough survivors left (2 survivors, 1 in chase and 2 gens pop)
Partner also has experienced this and managed to clip the video if its needed. She completed a gen with 2 left and gates are instantly powered. Other 2 survivors left were both with the killer in chase at the time.

    Can't run lightborn
    Can't run map offerings
    Can't run irry addons

  • As a killer main i don't want to do this but im going to give you the counter to this combo. It comes in the form of a perk that a survivor can run…Object Of Obsession. As it stands object allows you to see the killers aura whenever he is reading yours. One would argue that its more powerful when used with the killer combo because if you are carrying an item you can simply drop it, find the killer, pick it up and carry on.
