  • Actually while in the lobby I saw that and thought they were a SWF squad waiting to switch to Nea+flashlight squad at the last second

If I knew they were real noobs I would have dodged, pointless game, and I wasted a good offering

  • What do you mean? MMR is required to enjoy truly balanced matches like this one:

    Untitled.png

(I waited 15+ minutes in queue so I think matchmaking just gave up and took the first survivors it could find)

Ah yes for 6 years they have bowed to the whim of all the killer mains. No wait actually scratch that reverse it. DBD has favored survivor for six years. If you don't think that's true then you need to take a good look at your fundamental understanding of the game. Literally every big killer streamer who also plays survivor well agrees that the game favors survivors.

For the past years, sure, but now? Any source for your claim that "every big killer streamer who also plays survivor well agrees that the game favors survivors." ?

Can you explain why the escape rate of top survivor streamers like Probzz, Angrypug is below 50% if the game is still survivor sided?

Can you explain why a survivor main like me can get a consistent >80% killrate with almost every killer, and yet I don't think I've EVER managed to escape 5 times in a row as survivor ? The first time I played Nurse, I won 36 times in a row, and I recorded the streak (can share link). Since you're saying the game favors survivors, would you mind recording your survivor gameplay and show us your best streak too so we can compare?

What I'm saying is, that no matter how "unfair" the playstyles seem, both sides can employ them. I've had my fair share of matches as killer and survivor wherein the killer uses perks and add-ons to create a powerful synergy that allows them to win, or the survivors finish all the gens in 3 minutes while I'm only chasing my 2nd or 3rd victim, and all escape using 2nd chance perks, game mechanics, items, add-ons, and even offerings. The survivors can play Just as "Extremely Unfair" as the killer, and often do especially in the higher end. At that point, whatever tools, strategies, or mechanics the game provides that earned you a place to compete against them only matters if they still work, and more often than not, they don't and you get schooled.

That's not the players being mean or exploiting something broken, it's them taking advantage of what the game gives them in order to keep competing, and for you to regard this as "unfair" when you also can employ new and more effective synergies, tactics, or playstyles in order to compete, no matter which side you play, is just stubborn denial of a fair win. Sure you may not employ them the first time your opponent bests you, but learning from them, adapting your builds, and playstyle to meet them on the same level, is all part of the game.

Unless they are outright cheating, all IS fair.

Honestly, if your survivor team gets only 1-2 people hooked, and you all finish the generators within 3-5 minutes due to good builds, coordination, and strategy... is it because the killer player is a "Bad Killer", or were they simply unprepared to deal with your winning strategy? Is what you and your team accomplished "Extremely Unfair" in your eyes, or were playing the game by taking advantage of what made that win possible?

I ask these because, I bet to the killer player... it might feel "unfair", but eventually they realize that they can level the playing field too, so to me, there's no point in complaining about a loss to either side employing a winning strategy that was given to them by the legal mechanics of the game. There's much more point in discovering your own winning builds/strategies, and employing them yourself, or adapting to whatever your opposition might throw your way.

I can think of 3 strategies to counter a "Starstruck Nurse on Midwitch", 1. is boring and requires a lot of stealth and patience as well as shuffling as far away from a downed survivor as possible until they are hooked, 2. is pounding the gens out faster than she can down/hook your team, and 3. requires certain perks/items/builds and is a bit too specific to the situation, but ultimately would be at least decent against a large amount of killers, but most beneficial against this particular scenario (much like equipping Calm Spirit in case you ever face a Doctor, but still works well against any killers also running anything that reveals you through screams e.g. Infectious Fright, Deathbound, Iron Maiden etc). You are also open to many perks, strats, synergies, etc that allow you to gain advantages over that Nurse scenario, and you can't tell me that you don't.

I actually don't disagree on paper with most of the things you said, they are just not applicable to everything in this game

And yes survivors can play very unfair too. Eg. pre-patch an organized SWF could be invincible on RPD. Still now survivors can hide for 15 minutes to waste the killer's time, or bully a killer who cannot loop etc. But to me by far the most unfair things you can do are on killer side nowadays, right now I think the worst is Starstruck Nurse on Midwich but Facecamping Bubba comes close (literally guarantees you can kill the person you want).

You are severely underestimating how unfair it is possible to play in this game, please try to play solo survivor for about 10-20 games, I think after that you'll see what I mean.

  • Well as you explained it's pointless trying to balance perks like this when there is one killer who gets a completely disproportionate use of it. The perk will always be OP or useless.

So I'd just patiently wait until BHVR finally makes Nurse's blink + lunge a special attack and then we can discuss the balance of these perks on a sound basis

I reckon you don't know what it is. They've got validation. Unless you think they can defy physics and rewrite reality?

Dead Hard is a good perk in the hands of someone who can use it. I suppose you can't use it yet.

Apparently even people like Probzz with 5000+ hours don't know how to use Dead Hard either

As Probzz regularly gets affected by the bug too:

    https://clips.twitch.tv/PlausibleQuaintToothPoooound-iWBWh8GpGI3RAT4q

If you watch frame-by-frame, he pressed Dead Hard about 100ms before getting hit. The prompt disappeared, and the animation started, but he still gets hit.

Please tell us more about that "hit validation"

  • Ironically, you can also not say "facecamp"

I'm hesitant to subscribe to the dumb "killer mains vs survivor mains" mentality that plagues the forums. Judge someone's argument by how valid it is. Not by how they play the game.

That being said, the arguments that @SuzuKR have used are not valid. As I have already proven. I'd just rather have this discussion stick to attacking the arguments of the person. Not the person themselves. Ok?

Note that I didn't say "killer mains" I said "killer mains on this forum".

There's nothing wrong with being a killer main, in fact, I think the request to nerf Starstruck on Nurse was initiated by a Nurse player.

But killer mains on this forum are special.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3167715#Comment_3167715

Actually I main Doc and Plague when I play killer, because they're more fun and highly underestimated, and haven't even touched nurse since they updated how she moves/blinks in 2018, but good try at criticizing my unbiased set of rules through attacking my character... you REALLY got me there, I swear, I might cry, there might even be tears. 😜

You are claiming that "If it's in the game, it's fair" in a game where extremely unfair playstyles are possible.

So either you have never faced any of these playstyles yourselves (I have a hard time believing one could play against eg. a Nurse + Starstruck on Midwich and genuinely think this was a fair experience), or you use them yourself. So that is not attacking your character,I'm just saying that by making such a ridiculous claim you can not be in a good position to tell other people what are the "rules to follow".

  • Don't start recording evidence just to argue with killer mains here, it's pointless, they will always say that something was skewing the results, MMR, or survivor misplays, or luck etc.

That Starstruck is too strong on Nurse is commonly accepted now, that's why one of the most popular nerf requests is to make her lunge after blink a special attack.

If you read between the lines, the people you're replying to are perfectly aware of the problem too. In fact both of them mentioned that there's a "map design problem", which I'll translate it for you it means "Yes this combination is totally busted on Midwich, and we know that Nurse players are also the type of players who will bring a Midwich offering - but we're killer OTPs who will never have to play against Nurse anyway so might as well make a long list of other arguments to distract the topic and blame it on survivors"

  • Dead Hard is bugged, it doesn't give you invincibility for the first ~100 ms

But killer mains said it is a fine perk now and "requires more skill than before" so it went past PTB and won't probably be changed for another year or so

  • "If it's in the game, it's fair"

I have the feeling OP is a Nurse player / facecamping Bubba and made up these "rules" as a way to legitimate themselves

  • I love it, you have perfectly caught the essence of solo queue in 2022

Right now survivors can already get ✦ +100% BP ✦ by queuing (in exchange for getting their ass spanked a bit)

Now let's add ✦ +200% BP ✦ on top of it if they have a teammate who DC's within 2 minutes.

Next patch, if survivors face Nurse and lose at 5 gen, they get a reward: ★★ +300% BP ★★

    Get tunneled and camped ? ★★ M E G A J A C K P O T +10 000% BP ★★

    Much love - BHVR

  • Thank you for sharing feedback, this is not OK. Will rework blast mine to prevent this situation from happening again. - BHVR

  • Well, regardless of solo survivor balance (which is horrible), OP is right that killer is the least attractive role. You are basically the enemy of everyone else in the lobby and having 4 people cooperate against you.

But there is a way to have fun as killer in this game, and interestingly, I think it all comes down to a quite philosophical principle that I read somewhere decades ago and that I found very applicable in a variety of occasions since then:

Basically. Something that we all know, is that when we compete with other people, we love winning and hate losing. In other words, we love being the winner and we hate being the loser. However, something that we don't realize is that our opponents share the opposite feeling.

When you win a race, the opponent players will not love you for winning the race, rather they will hate themselves for losing the race. Win too many times, and the other players will just stop playing with you at best, at worst they will start thinking you played in an unfair way, that you were lucky, that you don't deserve the win, and the more you win the more they will hate you. Because our brain has a very hard time imagining that a competitor has beat us fair & square.

In contrary, when you lose, you will think of yourself as the loser, but your opponent will not think of you as the loser at all - rather, they will think of themselves as a great player, and of you as a just slightly less, but still great player. Because it's way more appealing for them to think that way - they have no reason to think that they have beat a loser, that would only decrease their achievement. They will always agree to play with you in the future, because it strengthens their belief that they are a great player, who keeps winning regardless of the opponent's luck and effort. If this person is your friend, then they will be secretly be very thankful to have a friend like you, maybe they have an other friend, but this one beats them at the game, so they do not mind losing this "friend" as much as they would mind losing you (in fact, they always thought that this "friend" showed off way too much)

The thing I read back then was something along this lines: if you want to be liked and make friends with a lot of people, you should try to not be envied by others, you should not aspire at having the best car, the best house, because if others care about these things, you being better at it than them will just cause envy, not appreciation. Our ego likes having the best things but in many situations this works 100% against us. If you try hard and do things better than the others, your brain will make you think that this is good, but in reality, most people will hate you.

Now where this applies to DBD.

For a while now I've been playing very nice with survivors, I don't tunnel/camp even if they unhook right in front of me, I always give hatch, let them farm/escape for any reason - if there is a DC , AFK, or just if they are cute. I say "gg" after every loss etc. and 95% of my end game chats are now filled with very positive survivors which write genuinely nice things, ie. they are not saying "Thanks for the free win" but rather "Good killer gg" or leaving +reps on my profile. Before when I played normally the only thing I'd get on my profile would be "-rep tunneler" or similar even in cases where I didn't tunnel.

Basically, there's 0 reason to try to win as killer in DBD. People will just hate you for it, you will never, EVER, have someone tell you something like that:

"Wow you were such a skilled killer you 4K'd us badly"

or "Wow all these killer achievements on your profile you must be really skilled at DBD".

That's what your brain makes you dream of but it will NEVER happen because NOBODY likes to find a player who is better than them, even less congratulate them for it. In contrary if you're just meme'ing people will add friends & leave +reps saying you're a cool and chill guy. Add MMR to the equation and there is literally 0 reason to win, you'll just get matched against players who have 10k hours and you will get destroyed anyway.

they could have also just..tried to make it follow the MMR and fail. it took them 2 years to make a worse version of the emblem system so I wouldn't be surprised.

Yeah I have less and less trust in the devs when MMR is involved. In fact, BHVR almost never says anything about how their MMR works, and yet every time they mention it, they somehow always manage to phrase it in a way that is absurd / contradicts their previous statements

What? This argument makes NO sense! There could just be a bunch of bad killers on. You could be the only good one, it's not hard to imagine

I do agree it's one of the smartest things I've read on THIS forum, tho

OP has demonstrated that it's not possible for the BP incentives to be based on MMR, the interface is too simplistic for it to work the way they told.

Imagine you are low MMR on Bubba and high MMR on Nurse, and say the game has shortage of survivors at low MMR, shortage of killers at high MMR. Should the game give you BP bonus, or not? Both answers lead to a paradox.

  • @Metronix said:

I like it. Hit the surv, who got of hook, chase the unhooker. Two persons who are not on gens. One has to mend the other is beeing chased.

The best is by far to hit & chase the unhooked person. Unless they severely outplay you in the chase you'll make the game 3v1 at 1-2 gens and win easily. I win 90% of my games when I tunnel and the remaining 10% are due to losing the chase (due to OtR noise reduction). Tunneling has always been the best way to play even before 6.1.

  • @TheLastHook said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3163080#Comment_3163080

What kill? One still has to get the guy in the hook. Can be unhooked again.

Also maybe don't unhook in my face after 10s when I already saw you nearby. No reason for me to go a wall and do like if I didn't see you.

I am meant to be pressuring gens, I cannot do that if a Survivor or two are coming for the rescue because it makes no sense to do so.

That hook you want to unhook with zero risk meant a generator or two to be repaired, mind you.

Dude this is incredible, what you are asking for, is the game to give you a way to tunnel people, but without making it look like you wanted to tunnel them.

It's your call to decide whether you want to tunnel or not. Not the game's.

Just assume the unhooked person always has OtR it's that simple. So if you want to tunnel, hit them immediately off hook because it's too risky to wait 10s anyway. If you don't want to tunnel then just don't hit a person you have unhooked for the next minute.

  • OP: props for thinking this through, this is actually very solid reasoning and one of the smartest things I've read on this forum.

This goes way beyond just BP incentives, I think it hints at serious flaws in the way MMR works...

He said 20s BT is op not the 10s base, did you miss the entire animated picture or did you just go off the title?

Point still stands. OP thinks he deserves a kill because he can count to 10 sec. Unlucky, the change is designed to prevent that.

(On top of this he's plain wrong, you can still tunnel as good as before; good survivors were already playing with OtR anyway and buffed BT doesn't give anything more to them except a slightly longer haste. So with this thread OP is not just showing that he's a tunneler, he's showing that he's a bad tunneler.)

  • @Brokenbones said:

In the video you posted on the other thread why didn't the survivors just mindgame you?

I was told that's what you're supposed to do against Nurse. Just mindgame her.

    😏

Good luck in your endeavours, I'm sure there's many a argument to come your way about how Nurse is completely balanced.

I think Nurse is not that broken though and you can check my history I'm a survivor main.

The problem is more from the Nurse mains, who tend to be the most tryhard and unfun people to play against. And God knows how this game rewards tryharding to an excessive degree, there are so many things that are despised by the community and that the game still allows somehow (eg. bring Midwich offering + Starstruck, facecamping, excessively slugging for 4K etc.), in fact it even rewards the killer for it. THIS is the problem with this game is that you can get matched against a total d*ck and you have 0 way to prevent it apart from DC'ing.

As soon as Nurse is nerfed, Nurse mains will switch to the next OP killer+addon combination and the game won't be any better.

  • Please can you stop complaining about Blast Mine all the time? We know that Blast Mine is too strong, no need to make 50 threads about it. We are aware that Blast Mine is an issue and have already nerfed it following your feedback. - BHVR

  • This is what broken MMR has lead to, in solo queue now it is common to get 10+ loss streaks and having the majority of your playerbase get loss after loss is not healthy. It makes people start the matches in a very defeatist mindset.

  • Imo, Myers. In solo queue Tombstone piece is completely busted, you're gonna 4K most games and Myers has several other unique addons which make him a very fun killer imo. Just be aware that his addons are quite expensive and he doesn't get a lot of BPs so it's best to not play him as your main killer.

According to high level players (eg. Otz' tier list), Myers is weak and Ghostface is better but that's because they assume coordinated SWFs which know how to play against tombstone, which nowadays you rarely see.

  • Unfortunately it is not a problem that can be easily fixed, survivors DC'ing is just the symptom of a much deeper problem, not the root cause.

I do not advocate for people DC'ing/suiciding on hook. But you cannot put all the blame on people who DC.

A few days ago my first DBD game was against a killer who picked Midwich offering. Within 30 seconds of the match, you can guess it, I hear the Nurse sound, baby Meg gets downed and then we all get exposed from Starstruck. Just after getting exposed, I immediately thought "This is ridiculous, I should DC" and at the exact same time one of my teammates DC'd in front of me. I decided to stay, needless to say we got spanked within minutes, the Nurse of course did not give hatch and after the game I saw her profile with 2000+ hours and lots of toxic comments implying she was only playing Nurse on Midwich.

Imagine coming back from work and expecting to play a chill game, and this is what you get, people would rather not play. I don't even think Nurse is OP (at all), but when the game starts like this you can tell within seconds that you're going to have a very unenjoyable match. Add stupid teammates to the equation, a dysfunctioning MMR, repeated loss streaks, unhealthy playstyles (facecamping etc.) and toxic end game chat, yes I know people will come here and proudly say "I never disconnect, it's poor sport etc.", but showing the world how moralish you are is not going to address the problem: DBD is a game where the worst possible unfun situations can happen out of any video game I've played.

A game is supposed to be somewhat fun, but if 5 people play and within the first 30 sec of the match already 4 of them have the impression that they are wasting their time, but the game forces them to stay, then something is severely wrong with the game itself, and of course people will DC no matter the penalty.

A good start to fix the problem would be to fix MMR so that you truly have 50% chance of winning. Getting 10+ loss streak in a row puts everyone in a very defeatist mindset that is not healthy in a game where you can suicide on hook.

  • I don't understand why they make perks like "Left Behind", in a game where teamwork is key to win, this only encourages selfish behavior which solo queue already badly suffers from. Nobody plays with this kind of perks at high level and even if you successfully escape, you're going to be insulted by the whole lobby so what's the point.

They should stop releasing perks like this. Instead, they should give more BPs for tanking hits / trading hooks / sacrificing yourself especially in EGC.

  • They need to decide how we are supposed to use the perk.

If we are supposed to use the perk reactively (eg. after a lunge attack), then DH should be client-sided and not depend on killer ping.

If we are supposed to use it proactively, then 0.5 sec is too short, the lunge attack duration is longer than 0.5 sec.

Current Dead Hard is extremely inconsistent, in some games I get insane value out of it, then in other games it doesn't work at all even though I pressed it in time. It is also a shame that it doesn't work with OtR.

  • @Laluzi said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3157692#Comment_3157692

Why would you want to give killers a free pass on DCs, though? That's just asking killers to shop for matches. Bad map? DC. Gens go too fast? DC. Survivors are good? DC. And then you get the trolls who'd enter matches specifically to waste survivor items and offerings. I've seen a few of these every time DC penalties have been off - they run aura perks and Franklins, smack you, and then quit.

Just because survivors aren't stuck in a doomed match when the killer DCs doesn't mean killer DCs can't and don't ruin games. Especially when survivor queue times are longer.

I did not say "free penalties" I said cap at 10 minute, with queue time that is at least 15 minutes. That's far from free. Nobody will leave intentionally and wait 15 minutes just because they don't like the map.

Explain me how somebody could be stupid to reach 2 hour penalty by legit DC with the current system, when they could just AFK for the match instead. The only case you get such penalties is if you're being held hostage or have actual network issues.

  • I think the penalty should be lighter for killers. Killers DCs happen way less frequently and don't ruin the game like survivor's DC do.

I'd cap the killer penalty at 10 minutes. It makes no sense to have hours of penalty when the killer could literally go AFK anyway if he didn't want to play. Also gentle reminder to BHVR that AFK killers farming shards still exist in 2022 and do not get caught, so the only thing your penalty does is make it possible to hold legit killers hostage...

  • Actually, just watch the clip above frame by frame and you can see the DH prompt disappears before the attack, so he actually pressed the key in time, and yet he still took the hit.

So yeah that looks bugged to me.

It's not even frame-perfect, he hit the key around 200 ms before getting hit.

In fact, this just happened to Probz right now, as we speak:

    https://clips.twitch.tv/PlausibleQuaintToothPoooound-iWBWh8GpGI3RAT4q

Keep in mind this clip literally just happened 2 minutes ago so I'm not cherry-picking one exceptional moment of the stream. And this was a very predictable hit to dodge (lunge attack on a 110 killer right before a pallet) - a player like Probz should have no trouble hitting that.

But as usual, random people on this forum are more skilled than 5000-hour streamers I guess

  • Yeah I've had this feeling as well. Maybe our reflexes are too slow... but several times I had the impression that I clicked dead hard at the right time and yet I still take the hit without being exhausted on ground. I guess I'll have going to record my gameplay + keystrokes and watch frame by frame to see if I was indeed too slow.

  • Yes please change every other killer, survivor, and the color of OP's house, but don't nerf Nurse.

Looks like I gotta do streak two electric boogaloo and stream 1123 mind numbing nurse games of 5 gen 4ks in 2 minutes with a intense game that opens my braincells after 500 matches and makes me a teeny bit worried

It's your claims, so it's your job to prove it.

FYI I don't think it's possible to achieve such streak, regardless of your skill, just for anxiety reasons. I recorded a 30 win streak with Nurse and I was already feeling super tense. After such long streaks you start getting irrational fears that the streak will end and ruin dozens of hours of effort. Any small mistake, a second of inattention, a connection problem, could force you to restart from the beginning.

I don't think it's possible to record and win 1000 matches in a row. You'd have to literally be an athlete just to live for years under permanent anxiety.

I have no opinion on Nurse being OP but let's not make absurd claims. A 10 win streak should already be proof that MMR is not working, no need to go up to 1000.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3153199#Comment_3153199

Oh and let me give you some math, lets say I played all 1123 games, thats 4492 survivors, not counting DC's, hackers, people giving up and letting me down them without blinking, I have rounded, 17k blink attacks, lets say I downed everybody TWICE, at full health state chases (which was never happening with my builds, and instadowns, etc) with slugging them ONCE for another blink attack (not counting regular swings) thats 22,460 blink attacks. (I don't know if misses count as blink attacks)

That is being incredibly generous as I had a ton of hits while carrying survivors, while they were dropping pallets, deadzoning people, and etc. Most games were over in 10 blink attacks at 5 gens.

Do some math and take some variables into the equation and you can see that it adds up

That is still irrelevant to prove any of your claims especially the "streak" part.

You only have proved that you have won at least ~1100 matches including at least 963 with 4Ks. But there is no proof that this was a streak, and we are also missing the total game count. It's impossible to draw conclusions from this. You could have played another 1000 games which were 0K and you would have the same stats.

Again, I don't think you're lying, but I'm surprised that so many people are thanking you for sharing "evidence" and yet these stats don't help proving any of your claims.

  • Not completely doubting the claims, but nothing in the DBDstats you have linked proves the streak

A little fyi: I'm a veteran player (2016). It's just that I'm a bit rusty and need some time to readjust.

However, talking about horrible advice, I could say the same about you telling me to learn looping. Looping does nothing in bad MMR. No one does gens. I could loop for 5 minutes, 5 gens would be remaining. If I do gens myself, my teammates will all last collectively half as long a v***in in bed.

It's just a lose-lose situation. I need to find a friend if I want to do anything.

Low MMR take their time before doing gens but go for them eventually. On the other hand, expecting low MMR randoms to last more than 30 sec in chase has ZERO CHANCE to end well. And once one of your teammate gets hooked you're doomed, your team will throw, the hooked person will either DC/suicide/get tunneled and the game will be over in minutes.

I've found that I had more "value added" vs randoms on chase than on gens.

  • Also please stop cleansing Dull totems. It's useless 99% of time. I swear cleansing a dull totem should give you negative BPs.

To escape MMR hell, I suggest you run a stealth build that includes Plunderers for a chance to get a key (or just bring in a key). Play selfishly and let your team die and escape from hatch.

I’m not really sure if hatch is considered a win, so this strategy may not be the best. It should tho.

Legit the worst advice one could possibly give, hatch doesn't give MMR and if he lets his team die he will never get normal escapes because a 3v1 is basically unwinnable unless there are only 1-2 gens left.

    Here is my advice:

    1. learn how to loop and try to be chased by the killer, so the game depends on your skill instead of your teammates'
    2. dodge every lobby where you have a lvl 0 / itemless player (and yea that will be A LOT of lobbies)

But do not get your hopes up, games won't be better at higher MMR. You'll get better teammates, but also better killers.

  • Yes this game is killer-sided, it's obvious to any person who has played both roles, or watches both roles on twitch.

As usual people here find excuses and ask you for more evidence, but do not bother recording, no matter how much effort you will put into your data people here will always find one stupid reason to dismiss it, and then they will ask you to collect your data in a different and more complicated way until you do it and they dismiss it again.

Similar to you, a while back I recorded my baby Nurse gameplay, I won 36 GAMES IN A ROW. I recorded all the games and it is painfully awkward for me to watch it now, I would play with useless perks, miss all blinks, and yet still 4K every time. But people blamed this on me and the survivors being low-MMR. Which is true, but hey, 36 games in a row? Can you name any other multiplayer game where one could get such streak?

Then to refute the "low MMR" complaint, I made an other thread, where I counted the win/loss ratio of a few high-MMR solo queue twitch streamers using publically available VODs, and again the data was heavily killer-sided. Every single survivor streamer had sub-50% winrate, and the average winrate was 30%. But similarly, people found excuses like "low sample count" (I counted 39 games...), said that people with 10k+ hours like Probzz are not high MMR or are not playing seriously.

There is always this myth that "once you reach high MMR it's only SWFs and it's very survivor-sided" but you never see these SWFs in your games, and neither do you see them on Twitch. You can just watch high-level streamers like Otz, they get 10+ win streaks as killer all the time, rarely do they get SWFs and even when it is the case they still manage to 4K them most of the time. Then they switch to survivor for a few games and suddenly it's loss after loss.

The worst part is that BHVR seems to genuinely have data showing that the kill rates are balanced, I have no idea why it is so far from reality, maybe it's because they don't count disconnects, maybe it's because of cheaters / bot killers.

Spinning the Killer isn't to use DH it's to confuse the Aim Dressing that Killers have and causes them to whiff when attacking. Now most used DH in conjunction with spinning because of a Killer lunges DH will protect against that.

It is stronger than before and the ones not using it either A don't have the timing or skill to use it or B they used DH for the distance rather than the evade to begin with so that's why SB is being used more but SB won't protect against a hit and can still cause a down if the Killer catches you just before you use it or right after in the case of Got Validation.

Oh really? Then looks like Otz, Kyto, and top-level streamers who advise to run SB now don't understand the game

Maybe they are just not as skilled as you and Dead_Harder.

It's also better against Nurse since she has punctuated windows of time where she can land a hit before she fatigues. So it's about exactly as hard to time against her as old DH, but you get more distance from it.

But Nurse is also the killer who has the least trouble getting back distance so it's not really useful against her...

    Against Blight I would agree

But again that's assuming they are not tunneling you and you are not already in endurance

  • If the new Dead Hard was better than before, we'd see high-level players equip it more than before, and this is not the case, so you can already dismiss half the claims in this thread that it is "better but requires more skill". These people are playing against noob killers. High level meta is now Sprint burst not DH.

New Dead Hard is much worse than before, because of endurance it synergizes terribly with OtR which is the new top pick in the camping era, it does no longer work against many killer abilities (trapper legion etc.), also depends too much on killer ping now and requires insane reaction time to use it in chase, so the only time you can use it consistently is before a pallet or vault, paradoxically it makes it a much easier perk to use than before.

Against noob killers you can spin them and DH but nowadays very few killers fall for that.

The only case I can think of where DH is clearly better than before is against Trickster.

  • On the plus side, new DS is a joke and would not have saved you anyway so you didn't really waste it

  • Props to OP for sharing your gameplay instead of just making claims like 95% of this forum.

If I can give one potential advice that hasn't been said, something that strikes me is your way of moving the camera around tiles is very weird and might cause you to not "hug" the walls properly.

To see what I mean, compare how you loop the shack at 3:25

    https://youtu.be/c357nMFJqZ8?t=205

First you move past the corner and then you turn the camera, but personally I'd turn the camera before passing the corner, and so do many players. For example, check how Otz loops the same wall:

    https://youtu.be/s2_CExtA5Qg?t=16398

I can not tell 100% that this makes a difference but it seemed very strange to me that you didn't manage to get any distance on this Kate and that might be the reason.

The 3v1 will happen every game, unless all survivors escape, that's kind of too harsh.

Maybe if "Desperation" would give the survivors a debuff similar to object of obsession too it would make it more balanced.

In a way it's a good idea to switch up the way the game is played depending if it's a 3v1 or 2v1

They already do this in 1v1 since it becomes a whole different game, with both the survivor and the killer needing to find the hatch, it feels like a new mini game-mode.

+30% is not that harsh imo and can be compensated with killer buffs, personally I think the number of pallets on the map should be reduced. This game needs buff to gen speed in 3v1, almost every time a 3v1 situation with 2 or more gens left is a guaranteed loss. Then you're just sitting around awkwardly hoping your teammates will die first.

The major issue with this kind of changes is that now people might not feel incentivized to help their teammates, you'll see some people think "Better let this noob die on hook since he's incompetent and that way I get the +30%".

This would only punish killers for doing their job. Even if they didn’t tunnel for a kill. This would absolutely break the balance.

Balance right now is already broken. Try to play solo queue as survivor and tell me if you manage to win more than 3/10 matches.

And yes I said this would be a meta change (and a healthy one) and likely need other changes.

I play a lot of survivor, and even more killer.

Run OTR and work on your looping skills. Being tunneled isn’t the end of the world, and is a good thing if you are the strong looper on the team. Keep the killer busy while the gens get ran through.

A good tunneler will not target someone who can loop, he will usually target the weak element. That's even one of Otz's "Essential killer knowledge" advices and that guide is not even about tunneling.

    https://youtu.be/dKQXO7yFbLA?t=501

"You should ignore the survivors who are really good at looping and go for less experience players who are easier targets."

That's the whole reason of tunneling being so effective in solo queue and why people are annoyed. Against tunneling, it's not your looping skill that matters, it's the looping skill of a newbie Claudette that the MMR decided would be your teammate this match.

  • Imo the solution is to add a sort of "Desperation Bonus":

As soon as one survivor dies, all other survivors get a +30% repair speed bonus.

The fundamental cause for tunneling is that the best way to win right now is to make the game a 3v1 as fast as possible and there is little incentive to hook other people before.

This change will be a massive survivor buff, game will need to be rebalanced after that, but in the end, I think it will make "playing nice" more viable as well as many positive effects, for example games will no longer become unwinnable just because a teammate DC'd or suicided on hook within the first 5 minutes.
