Great news, it’s bad and unfair when killers have good and useful perks!
-
So they nerfed xeno and gave Knock Out the knotted rope treatment. lmao
-
I’d play xeno more if the tail attack didn’t feel terrible to use
-
IIRC, the depip squad got to the point where they played 100 games with no perks, items, or comms, and still won like 96% of their games.
Even with all the changes since then, I think if the survivors and killers are playing equally well, the survivors win nearly 100% of the time. The killer just can’t be in 4 places at once. They can’t chase 4 people at once.
-
The fact that BHVR clearly identified the issue years ago and still haven’t fixed it is a travesty.
-
What and who determines whether someone’s MMR is “boosted” or what it “should” be? Is using certain perks a sign of “boosting”? Certain killers? Certain addons? Items? Map offerings? SWF? What makes one person’s MMR correct and another “boosted”?
Is my MMR boosted because I like playing Tombstone Myers? Would it be the opposite of boosted if I only played Scratched Mirror Myers? How about if I bring BNPs and Eyrie of Crows offerings? Or no items at all? What can I use to find my “real” MMR and what is “boosted”?
I don’t really think there’s any kind of objective answer, and IMO saying someone’s MMR is higher than it “should be” is just saying you don’t like how someone plays and therefore it doesn’t count, neener neener neener.
It doesn’t really make sense to judge or critique another person based on an invisible number we never see. -
Arinad’s 200+ page clown guide with multiple linked videos. I haven’t read it all or watched all the videos but even just a quick glance through and practicing some of his basic tips made a pretty big difference in my clown game.
Some Otzdarva videos about the guide:

You didn't? I thought how it worked in 2.0 was u had to be caged and then you'd get a single unbreakable to use
I confirmed myself in the last one that could get myself up without being caged, because I had also heard stuff like that and wanted to verify it for myself. As far as I could tell, the only limitation was (and still is) having your team skill charged and being recovered to the “Seek Help” level.
-

There kinda is anti slug. Saving and using your team ability while slugged lets you pick yourself back up, you don't even need to be caged for it to activate now as of this variation of 2v8
You didn’t have to be caged first in the last one (the second 2v8 event) either. I’m not sure how that misinformation got started.
-
”just apply pressure” they say as every method killers have to apply pressure gets nerfed and removed over and over and over
-
it’s very cool that every time killers come up with any kind of tactic or strategy or perk synergy that survivors don’t like, bhvr swoops in to nerf it out of existence
-
Oh cool, anti-slugging and even more anti-tunneling and anti-camping? It’s going to be so fun to play killer where you have to ask survivor permission to do anything, definitely great game design!

thank you, though those are from the first 2v8, prior to the big survivor buffs that came with the second.

You can't escape because you don't do gens, 8 players but only 2 are ever doing gens.
This is the correct answer. Most survivors refuse to do gens. You can’t ignore your main objective and then whine that you didn’t win!
-
Where are the 2v8 stats? I think I remember some stats from the first iteration, but survivors got huge buffs for the second and I’d love to see the stats for that.
-
I think they're a good addition and tbh I kind of would like more stuff like that in 2v8 as well as regular 1v4. Adds some flavor to things (because they're herbs, get it).
-
People sure have a lot of derogatory things to say about someone using a perk that only activates in the endgame (meaning they played most of the match with only 3 perks), can be eliminated before it ever activates, and which screams out its location to them.
It's not a crutch perk any more than the zillions of second-chance perks survivors use. It's a perk in a game with a perk system. Anyone saying "it's only used by bad players" or "it gets you kills you didn't earn" is just being kind of a jerk about it. -
Survivors: "2v8 is killer sided!"
Also survivors: -
e: never mind
-
Comically survivor sided. The only way survivors lose is if they just ignore generators (which a lot of them do).
-
TBH I haven’t minded the bots as teammates. They do gens more often than the humans do.
-
”Bleeding out isn’t a valid way to win” I dunno, the survivors still seem dead to me

Wouldn't just nerfing toolboxes be a much easier and less dramatic way of taking care of those builds?
You could go another step and adjust survivor spawns so they all spawn together by default, if you wanted. That's a more direct response to the problem there that won't have any nasty collateral damage.
No I’m just gonna go with the same “give one side one of their strongest second chance perks basekit” solution survivors keep demanding.

What clear basekit issue would basekit NOED be solving, though?
Genrushing SWFs which I encounter just as often as survivors encounter slugging killers.
-
Survivors can have basekit Unbreakable if killers get basekit NOED. I mean, it’s only fair.
-
I don’t go out of my way to tunnel, slug, or camp, but I also don’t go out of my way to avoid doing them either. If the survivors are grouped up, I’ll slug one to attack another in the immediate area (especially if I’m playing Leatherface). If I find a just-unhooked person before someone else, then I guess it’s tunnel time. If survivors are trying to unhook in my face or otherwise just hovering around the hook, I’m roasting marshmallows.
I used to try to play “nice” but it always got thrown back in my face, so now I just play how I want and if that means someone gets slugged or tunneled or camped, oh well.
-
Are we seriously complaining about killers even having addons? Is that where we’ve gotten to?
Good lord.
-
Basekit NOED for the last 2 gens
-
During this next 2v8 run, keep an eye on how often you have 7 teammates never touching gens. It’s pretty illuminating.
-
What exactly are killers allowed to do that won’t be called “unfair” or “crutch” or any number of other derogatory things?
-
2v8 is basically “give survivors everything they want” mode. If it’s just a repeat of last time without adjustments, no thanks.
-
nice nice

Maybe because often anonymous killers play more scummy. They either tunnel really hard or slug to bleedout and do the killer tbag. That has been my experience too often so it can be reason for some.
But it's not just killers, anonymous survivors are either toxic or hackers in my experience too often as well.
This is conjecture without proof
-
Feels pretty good to get a 4K on Eyrie or Badham, so yes.
-
Anytime someone gets mad that I’m in anonymous mode, I assume it’s because they wanted to say a bunch of slurs on my Steam profile. Too bad so sad, angry little guy!
-
Remember when survivors kept complaining about being slugged even though every survivor had basekit infinite Unbreakable? Hilarious.
-
Run Lucky Break, seriously. A lot of killers overly rely on blood and scratch marks for tracking. I escape my first chase like 80% of the time, and if I can get a heal fast enough, I can usually manage another. Lucky Break is a major contributor for my survivability.
e: my go-to survivor build is Lucky Break, Kindred, Lithe, and Adrenaline
-
I played 9 games of solo queue last night. I died once, then escaped 7 times in a row, then died on my last game.
-
The last iteration of 2v8 was laughably survivor-sided in an effort to “fix” the queue times, and it didn’t fix the queue times. So I can imagine things are going to be pushed even further in that direction in the next iteration, so no, it’ll be even less balanced.
-
don’t queue up for DBD if you’re not willing to play DBD 🤷♂️
-
Also my conspiracy theory is that the Artist was 100% supposed to be Candyman (artist with limbs cut off that sends swarms of something to attack people), and had to pivot to Crow Lady when they either couldn’t secure the license or lost it during development.

If all survivors are on the ground / on hook, game increase chance of self-unhook for everyone. I'm 99% sure it's hidden mechanic.
If a self-unhook has a 4% chance of happening, that’s 1-in-25. If everyone is on hook and trying all three attempts, that’s 12 attempts out of 25. If you had two games like that in a row, you’d essentially expect to see one self-unhook.
I don’t think there’s any special mechanic for it, I think it’s just how the math works out when you have multiple people attempting a bunch at once.
-
I’m experiencing the same thing.
-
A fix for auto-aim throwing my attack into a goddamn wall
-
individually slugged without the killer going for a full slug strategy? Maybe once a month.
Slugged by a full slug strategy killer? Like once every six months. Last time was back in early November.
-
I played a decent amount of Deathgarden in both roles and in both iterations and for me the fatal flaws were:
- In the first iterations, scavengers could stunlock the hunter for so long it was basically impossible to play. The stunlocking was removed in the second iteration. However,
- In the second iteration, there was no incentive for the scavengers to do anything except hide in a bush. Eventually the timer would tick down and the exit would open and they could escape, no matter if they’d done their objective or not. The last games I played of DG were just this happening over and over.
-
IIRC, one of the Evolve devs blamed that game’s failure on 2K not allowing them to patch more often than every six weeks. He said they often had fixes for bugs within 24 hours of reporting, and then had to sit on them for a month and a half, watching the bug ruin the game for people for that whole time.
I loved Evolve and 2K did that game dirty.
-
Mine seemed about what I expected.
Most played was Leatherface and Nea. I was a little surprised Myers wasn’t #1 but I suspect it was close. And this was the year I got Nea to prestige 100 because she’s a cool gay skate punk.
I played survivor about 60% of the time (and it’s always solo queue, since none of my friends play), and I escaped about 37% of the time (I’m pretty mediocre as survivor despite playing it the majority of the time).
