The simple answer is bhvr doesn't care about its main fan base enough like that's a lot of effort for them to drag a cosmetic file and put it into the main dbd file

We aren't worth the 5 mins

Dude, this is so infuriating. We've been playing this game for years, buying battle passes to get crappy skins, etc.

All we get is those horrid skins?!

Did you actually read what I wrote? How am I overbuffing survivors?

  • I feel happy for you, trully, although, at the same time, I feel sad for me. I live in a country where if you're a masculine gay man, you're not welcome within the gay community. In my country, we (me and you) are seen as "straight-people-pleasers". It is as if we're desperately seeking for heterosexuals approval. Being effeminate is almost like a prerequisite if you want to be accepted by your own community. It's really sad. I always thought that LGBTQIA+ meant, basically, DIVERSITY. Apparently I was wrong. When Behavior announced David as the first gay character of DbD, I was totally hyped. It's the first step towards a future where we won't be seen as straight-pleasers anymore, where people will understand that that is how we express ourselves... we like sports, we like jackets, we like motorcycles, we like rock, we like a lot of things that are considered "straight-men-exclusive" and that's ok. We're not trying to be accepted by the straight community... we're just trying to be ourselves. I got public humilliated in a gay group for saying that I do not watch Ru Paul's Drag Race. I was "?????????". Not watching RPDR does not mean that I hate drags or anything like that. It's just not my cup of tea. I prefer watching some strategy game, some fight, etc. Anyway... really happy for you, pal.

That would make stream sniping killers easier.

Presuming that stream sniping killers is a very, very difficult task nowadays, which is not. Just go to Twitch -> Categories -> DBD and voilá. It's easy as that. I don't think you get the point here. Some killers get so pissed at some survivors that they start to practice GRIEFING. What is GRIEFING? I pick you as a target. My goal is to ruin your game experience. I'll always find you. I'll always play against you. I'll always tunnel you. I'll try to make your game experience the worst experience you've ever had.

See the point now? In order to avoid suffering griefing, I need to change my nickname, change my main character, clean my nickname history, change my skin, etc.

If I'm able to see the name of the player I'm up against beforehand, I can simply leave the room and avoid being targeted. See? Easy as that. Of course, the killer can change his nickname too, but if I block him on steam, I'll still be able to identify if it is a blocked person and leave the room.

  • Weird... Not even a singles comment?

there might be a hotfix tomorrow but we don't know if the infinite loading screens will be part of it.

"Might be"? So... nothing's confirmed? :-( Oh, man...

  • Someone told me a hotfix was scheduled for tomorrow. Is this true? Cause I'm sick and tired of trying to play. Every 8 out of 10 matches (average) puts me in the infinite loading screens. I'm playing with different survivors, with crossplay on, at different times of the day, with or without friends, and it's all the same. Seriously... I was so eager to play Dbd during the Halloween season... but now...

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/287072/remove-killers-hatch-priority

Sure, ill give you the priority of the hatch but in exchange take away body blocking in any way, doesnt make ANY sense that punny little humans are able to block super human entities by just standing around in front of the hook, doesnt make any sense dont you tink?

Also, the killer its the one meent to set up the pace for the game, so it actually makes sense it has more priority in many of the interactions of the game, but the truth is most survivors arent ready for that conversation because in the courent state, survivors are the ones dictating the pace of the game, its more of a simphtom of them loosing some control and not liking it at all

From a physics perspective, yes, it does. From a game-developer perspective, it also does (everything have hitboxes/collision boxes). From a player perspective, it also does (the only exception being Pinhead, as he summons chains from hell and the chains could lift the survivor to the hook by "themselves", but that's beside the point).

    @Dino7281 said:

If killer doesn't get priority, then there would be just nothing he can do about it.

He can't hit you, because you will leave during his recovery and he wouldn't be able to wait either, because you would just leave.

It will get even better for survivors after hatch nerf, because it's way easier for them to find hatch during game with animation bug, so you are going to know where it is, killer probably won't.

Exactly. If the killer finds the hatch first, after hooking the third survivor (and that third survivor is on his last hook), and gets on top of it, he should have the priority. Now, if the killer does find it after the last survivor's on top of it, then the survivor should have the priority. I'm talking "hitboxes/collision boxes wise", not "well, I've killed 3 survivors and I don't think it's fair that the 4th survivor escapes". It's not about what you think it's fair. It's about logic. I don't remember who told me that this came to be right after people started complaining about killers being able to grab the escaping survivor while he was doing that jumping animation. I believe Behavior can do better. Physics-wise, it does not make any sense that the killer gets to close the way outside the hatch's 3d model.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/287072/remove-killers-hatch-priority

Okay let me break it down for you, this is a 1v4 game there fore the 1 has to be stronger inherently and get priority in most cases.

Plus the hatch is random enough as it is can you give me 1 good reason why survivors should get priority when they have already failed their objective the normal way aka gens, when the killer has already succeeded 3/4s of their objective and now have to bank on the hatch not spawning right next to the survivor or the survivor camping hatch if they want any chance of securing the 4th kill.

This honestly isn't a very important issue to me at all but having survivors able to sit on the hatch is just dumb design.

You talk like the killer is the weakest link of this "chain". I'm curious... what makes you think that killers are so weak that we should automatically feel sorry for those players that love playing as killers? And please, don't come with the "swf always wins" argument. I do play as killer too and I have smashed some swf as well as a lot of main killers out there. Heck, I used to play with some people, and even though we had communication and decent player skill, we'd still lose some matches. So, in the end, I'm still trying to understand how this "poor-killer-trend" started and most importantly, WHY. If you are complaining about this, if you think that this game in completely survivor-sided and unfair to the killer, I recommend you watch Otzdarva channel, Dowsey channel, Hells channel, Souzasoul channel, Felps channel, etc. I'd also recommend you get in touch with the recent news of another assymetrical horror game that's been under development and we're all aware of (cause I don't know if we can talk about other games directly in here) in which you can kill the killer. Imagine how unfair that would be for the killer. He'd be forced to play against 4 ARMED survivors. Everytime the killer gets killed, he enters a xx seconds respawn time. How fun is that? Imo, that game is doomed from the start. You gotta be really into stress and suffering if you'd enjoy playing killer in this game.

    @DBD78 said:

They should remove hatch i mean it's just there for free undeserved escapes.

Undeserved escapes? Seriously... go play survivor. And not with rank 1 moonwalking friends. Be ballsy and get in the queue alone. You'll understand what I'm talking about. By the way... stop thinking/believing that you deserve to kill 4 people all the time, in every match. Survivors aren't rats and you aren't a 5 feet Python. We're not here to make your day, to inflate your ego or to serve as punching bags for you everytime something does not goes the way you want it to in your real life (or even virtual one). Sometimes, I'm the only one doing gens, rescuing other survivors, healing them, and I need to read things like "free underserved escapes". C'mon, be real.

  • You do realize that killers can hear those boon totems, right? And If I'm not mistaken, they can hear it from a 20m (or a little more) distance and snuff them out in less than 2 seconds. Plus, to bless a totem, survivors need 26 seconds (again, if I'm not mistaken). That's a lot of time. Everyone in the trial also receive an auditory warning, and that includes the killer. I honestly fail to see how OP they are, weighing pros and cons alike.

  • @ElusivePukka said:

I'm a killer main who finds your thread amusing. I think that defensiveness needs some looking into.

You're just standing on hatch and haven't gone through it yet.. why? Also, got any heated opinions on how killers can stand on the Black Lock and prevent key usage?

What about your passive-aggressive attitude? The fact that you're still being passive-aggressive can only mean that you've never looked into this issue and yet, you're here, sharing some light on what kind of psychological issues we may have and how serious they are. Sounds like we have an hypocrite here. 😉

And I'm standing on the hatch waiting for it to open so I can escape the match while my friend sacrifices himself on his second hook as he and I are well aware that we've already lost the match and are trying to do what we can to prevent the killer from having 4 sacrifices, a.k.a playing the game as it's supposed to be played, as the company who developed the game intended us to play. 😀

No I don't get your point. I'm talking about this from a survivor's perspective. I think you responded to the wrong post because this has nothing to do with my argument.

From a survivor's perspective, it is unfair, however, there are other solutions, such as instantly popping up a free repaired gen to help the remaining survivors in the trial, or increasing the remaining survivors repairing/unhooking/sabotaging/healing/opening gates speed 'til the remainder of the trial. There is absolutely no way you can force someone to stay in a match that feels like a torture to that person. It's completely unethical that one person needs to feel really bad so you can feel good.

  • @HaunterofShadows said:

If the killer found it first then they deserve the priority. And if you sat there T-bagging get rekt. The killer has the shorter Animation so if you both hit the button at the same time the killer who moves faster is going to close before you land in the hatch

If he finds it first and stay on top of it, I agree he should have the priority. But if the opposite happens, he shouldn't have the priority. That is my point.

    @Crowman said:

I know it can be frustrating if you are waiting for the hatch to open and the killer finds you and can just close it on you. But this should be less of an issue with the ptb changes since the hatch won't spawn until there is only one survivor left.

Otherwise I don't see a problem with the killer having priority because at the point where hatch is the option to escape (without key) then your team has already lost.

But which side's already won is not exactly the point here. The killer needs to kill and the survivor needs to survive. When we get in-game, we play these parts, depending on what we've chosen. So... it's natural for me, as a survivor, to want to survive somehow, and if the hatch is the only viable option at that moment, then I'm taking it. Hopefully, when this new patch comes, this won't be a problem anymore. I'm done with this, seriously.

  • There is something that you need to understand: some killers are so hard to face that we, survivors, do not wish to face'em. We judge them unfair and that is why, sometimes, we kill ourselves in our first hook. That is not "my problem", as in "ego problem". This is clearly a balancing issue. These kind of things needs to be discussed, specially with streamers or content creators, that are closer to Behavior than we'll ever be.

We do get your point, actually. Playing as a killer sounds completely unfair because you're up against other 4 people. But that's just because you think you HAVE TO KILL ALL 4 SURVIVORS EVERYTIME. If you kill 3 and one escapes through the hatch, "it's unfair". If you kill 2 and 2 escapes through the gates, "it's unfair, they brought medkits, they brought tool boxes, Prove Thyself and yada yada yada".

Get a hold of yourself. Breathe and think. How's that (2 survivors escaping) humiliating in any way that you get so frustrated and think that you've been wronged in any way? It's time we end this vicious cycle.

Playing against Wraith, Nurse, Oni, Blight and Spirit has been a complete pain in the ass for quite a long time now. Those killers are way too overwhelming if played correctly. Who the heck allowed Oni to make those 180º drifts anyway? What about Blight? Dude, the drifts that killer's able to do... that is so ridiculous and embarassing. Spirit regains her power so fast that makes her unbearable. I think you get my point. If you still don't, try playing survivor for a month. I'm sure you'll be able to understand what I mean.

  • This is weird, considering they removed the icon files completely from the directory. I'll try later.

  • I'm having the same problem right now, but there is another thread in which this subject is being discussed... I just asked one of the mod's if the devs have passed some info on the issue, on the hotfix ETA, etc.

  • @Gay Myers (Luzi) said:

Which platforms and regions are you on that are currently experiencing issues?

Steam, São Paulo - Brazil. Can't find a match. Waited for 20 minutes and no match was found. I also cannot cancel the queue. I get stuck and need to alt+f4 the game. Any news from the devs? Have they identified the issue? Any ETA on the fix? :-(

  • Seriously, guys... The game has lost half of its fun, at least for me. I really miss my custom icons. I want them back. Please, make it possible again. We usually don't ask much of you. Not if we are to be compared with other games communities. Help us.

  • @ShamelessPigMain We're talking about icons, not textures. I'm sure Behavior would know if someone would turn a character completely black, like "Noob Saibot", to avoid being seen by the killer the whole match, or simply turn your character "transparent", etc, etc, etc.

Plus, messing with those .pak files seems like trouble. It's nothing compared to messing with a .jpg.

Anyway. I miss my beautiful icons. :-( I want them back.

  • @ShamelessPigMain said:

It had to do with a different UI, and it was a questionable practice anyways; they wouldn't repeal bans for custom icon packs.

The issue is that it set a bad precedent; they can't let players make their own textures, which could be used to give them an advantage. It's the same reason they took away moon bouquets.

What on Earth are you talking about? Custom icons does not provide any advantage at all. It's just a custom icon. It's just a "Green Spine Chill" instead of a "Purple Spine Chill". How is that an advantage? I can now increase the size of the hud as I wish. If I wasn't able to pay attention to my "spine chill" because it was "too small" or "too dark", now I can. Isn't that an advantage?

Put something in your head: custom icons does not provide any advantage. And it won't provide any advantage whatsoever. It's an image after all. Behavior may not "approve them", but you can't disapprove something that is cosmetic. That won't hurt the game rules and provide you any extra advantage.

  • I'm not gonna stay quiet about it.

Behavior, we want to be able to use custom icons again. This doesn't affect the gameplay at all, and keep us happy and enjoying the game a bit more. Please, allow us to change our icons. Maybe work with content creators to allow us to use iridescent shards to purchase them in the shop. After a while, iridescent keeps acumullating and there is nothing we can do with them anymore except color-change the basic outfits of our favorite characters.

Anyway, please. You have to listen to us. I feel like uninstalling the game out of rage right now. This is really infuriating.

  • As I said, survivors are basically "avatars". They're just "representations" of our differences as humans. We have black folk, white folk, asian folk, the "Barbie" stereotype, the "big booty lady", the "Bully" stereotype... that's all. That's definitely all. It's like survivors were created for us to "see ourselves" in them. This is just weird, honestly. I like the whole idea of perks but... it's not like the game benefit you in any way for deciding to play as Claudette with her 3 basic perks, for deciding to prestige a character. And please, don't even start with "10% more chances of receiving good itens on your bloodweb". I watch streamers a lot and I compare their bloodwebs with mines. It's virtually the same. I barely notice any difference.

  • @Milo said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1415404#Comment_1415404

Those 2% can translate to another loop. Or more distance than usual.

And on the note of them being so small they are not noticable - then what's the point of them from the start?

(Oh and bloodlust exists for a diffrent reason)

The point is adding identity to each survivor. Plus, those minor passives could synergize well with some perks. I'll take Claudette as an example. With Botany Knowledge, if her passive was "heal team mates 5% faster"... would she consider bringing Botany Knowledge to the match? 33% + 5% = 38%. I would. Specially considering that people often don't heal due to Resilience, and that leads us to a perfectly destroyed endgame.

Nea's the "nimble character". Would I consider equipping Lightweight on her for an extra 1s of it's benefits? Definitely. It's not game breaking, but depending on my playstyle, it could help me a little bit.

  • @Milo said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1415328#Comment_1415328

Again. Those are 2 examples of "bad" passives.

Your Meg one is one of the strongest ones, having Hope base would be just bonkers.

As I said, those things are easy to balance. If they run tests and find that 105% base movement speed is "too much", they try 3%, 2%. Let's not forget that killers have Bloodlust. So, let's say they change Meg's base movspeed to 102% and that extra 2% gives her 2 extra seconds of chase. It's not like your team mates could do much in this "two extra seconds" you bought them. Best case scenario (but really "BEEEEEEEEEST CASE"), one of your team mates gets close enough to try a flashlight save. But that is being way too optimistic and seeing every player as "pro".

  • @TheEntityNea said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1415328#Comment_1415328

I believe It's fine how it is, no passives for survivors since Killers also don't have passives.

Just like Milo refered above, balance would even be more broken.

Killers don't need minor passives when they have add-ons such as Iridescent Head (Huntress), Scratched Mirror (Myers), Coxcombed Clapper (Wraith), Black Incense (Plague), etc.

Some add-ons are way too OP for some killers. And it's been like that for a while. If Behavior thought those add-ons were as OP as most people think, they'd have done something about it by now. And it's not because Behavior never judged those add-ons "OP" that they really aren't.

I have a question for you. Do you find the game completely unbalanced at it's current stage?

  • That's why those passives would have to be just "slight improvements to each survivor most basic role". Balancing that shouldn't be that hard.

For example... "Ace" is all about luck. So, overall, his luck would be 2% above "basic luck stats", which is 4%. It's not a huge deal. This idea could also be used on the prestige system. Losing everything you have to get a blood soaked up version of your basic outfit is just outrageous.

In the end, it wouldn't create a "survivor meta", cause it's just a very small "buff" to add some extra identity to each survivor. If you do not play as Feng Ming today cause you don't like her, would you play her if she were 2, 3% quieter when repairing a gen? I really doubt so. It's not "game determinant", and as a killer, unless you're a god amongst us, you can't discern the difference between 3% louder or 3% quieter when it comes to "repairing gens". You'd check that gen either way.

  • No reply from Behavior's Team so far? T_T

  • @JiggleWiggle

It's happening on PS too... D=

Do you think Behavior's not aware of this? Before creating this discussion, I've searched for over an hour to see if someone already brought up this problem to the table, but couldn't find anything.

  • To be honest, this game has a lot of balancing issues. Let's start with a fact: this is a killer's game. Unless you're playing with 3 friends and all of you communicate (and coordinate) well, this is a killer's game.

    1. Killers can abuse the 3-gen-in-a-row tactic and prevent you from doing anything except accept death.
    2. Killers suffer no delay after falling from heights.
    3. Killers have long hits (or charged hits, as some people call'em).
    4. Killers have abusive addons and perks. (Every killer brings Barbecue and Chilly and almost every killer brings No One Escapes Death.)
    5. If a killer wants to camp you, it's not against the game's rules.

Seriously... it's a pain to deal with skilled killers. It's stressful. Either take away Bloodlust and Barbecue from them and force them to use their brains to find survivors or add some innate passives to survivors... for example, Meg runs 10% faster than the others. Feng fixes gens 10% faster. Things like that.
