One could accuse you of basically the same, being salty for not being able to 4k every time like it has becoming the norm for sweaty killers in the normal game mode. Survivors can't see the killer too and you often get a free hit as killer. I think gen-speed bonus could be slowed down a bit, but the last time it seemed to be almost unplayable as survivor. The Freddy argument makes no sense to me, his dreamworld seems to be the reason why he got killswitched and i get that, it probably wasn't possible to implement this somehow.

I just see this game mode as what it is, a fun casual mode made for doing challenges and changing the routine. I don't really care if i 4k or not, or if i escape.

I never stated that I needed a 4k every time, nor am I salty about anything. I annihilate most of my competition so there's nothing to be salty about. I spoke on it being very difficult to pull off without survivors making an error in judgment. Most players aren't as good as I am and I see where BHVR is making their mistakes. That's all I was saying. Thanks for your opinion though.

  • Not sure why they keep making these bad decisions.

I keep trying to tell BHVR this game was designed incorrectly. Just bad. No amount of cameos can save it. It's destined to fail because of poor execution and the all inclusive approach to updating. I don't get paid to make this game better, and I never get notoriety for some of the ideas they got from me and put a different spin and moniker on it. I too tried to get two of my friends in to the game on the survivor side and within a week both of them stopped and said "It's okay, but nah, it's not for me". The games not even scary and it should be. How in the world do you have some of the most iconic killers in history all clustered under one title and the game is NOT scary? That makes no sense. It's just a cat and mouse fashion show game with little to offer in terms of depth and reward. My devotion is over 10 and I'm still grinding like I just started yesterday without any exclusivities being offered to me for laying so long. Devotion? Right. Now when I play as killer I refuse to chase survivors around a tree or the boring mundane one hundred pallet. It think it's insulting to Myers and Dracula and other legends like them to be caught doing so. I play like a boss and outsmart them when they let their guard down. I try to play killer the way BHVR should have designed the game from the start. Survivors should have had fighting mechanics and the room to implement them in their fight for survival, and killers should be able to use all their abilities under the premise that the fog will not allow any of them to overpower the rules of the realm. The last survivor should AUTOMATCALLY ESCAPE, and daylight should rise clearing the fog. That's how every match should have ended. Lights out should have been a 15 min timed event where while in complete black survivors have to stay alive until the doors release before the killer can kill them all. NO GENS, NO HOOKS, no light, no perks, no add-ons. Just sounds and the moonlight. Such a waste of potential.

  • I had a few friends quit as well. It's a shame. We want to enjoy the game.

  • I'm sorry, but why does it seem like BHVR can't do anything right? What is going on? When some killers have to be restricted from the mode that's how you know it's not balanced, fair or fun. Anything built on a faulty foundation is going to continue to be faulty by design. Lights out is too survivor tilted. It's four against one with accelerated generators, an the killer has no way of tracking survivors while they speed their way through these gens. I'm good enough to at least get two survivors, but a 4k is out of the question unless survivors mess up. I deal with it though.

When you try and control fate you mess u your destiny. Every time BHVR try to appease the balance god they screw over the natural order of things. There is no such thing as balance. Stop trying to achieve it. The natural order is someone is ALWAYS going to be better than someone else. This boils down to character, and most of the DBD community don't have the honorable countenance to accept a fair 'L' so they rather come to forum to moan about the odds being stacked against them. I get so many players rage quitting on me its insane. They challenge me to chase them because they fancy themselves master loopers, and when I catch within the first 15 to 20 seconds they quit. Or I kill so fast that layers accuse me of tunneling despite the fact that I left them alone to get two other survivors and returned within 2 minutes. Somehow because I'm not gracious enough to give them breathing room or I strategically intercept the other survivor attempting to take them off hook, I'm toxic and tunnel.

News Flash: It's called an obsession for a reason. And even then I don't focus on the obsession. I'll give the illusion that I'm pursuing so that the others will come to their aid. Works every time psychology.

Instead of encouraging players to think, BHVR caters to players asking for a hand out in the win department.

    well,

one of the developers once said years ago: Playing with aura reading can be very interesting. Honestly? There is now far too much aura reading in the game. Regardless of whether it's perks or add-ons.

Playing with Aura Reading is uninteresting, but feels like cheating and requires no skill !

It's just far too much….. Distortion works against many perks and add-ons, that's true, but only if you play it right !

Meanwhile, there is so much aura reading that the tokens are used up very quickly and you have to go into the terror radius to recharge them, which takes time. Time that you can't spend on a generator, time that benefits the killers.

But none of the developers seem to be interested anymore. I'm a solo player and I don't want to be constantly hunted. Whether the developers like it or not, but that should also be taken into account. If the change goes live like this, there will be a shitstorm. I'm seriously considering giving up the solo Survivor game and just playing SWF.

Hiding no longer helps. Hide and Seek is over...what has become of DBD.... become? Now you can run the other tools like Sole Survivor by Laurie or Urban Evasion by Nea into the ground, because they are becoming increasingly useless. Time to get a grip on DS, DH and co.

These developers don't reward solo play. Their whole score system is backwards. You would think a survivor would be rewarded greatly for AVOIDING the killer's attention like in the movies, but no, the stealthy survivor gets punished for not getting spotted and pursued. I will be doing all the gens by myself while my team gets found and downed, and when the exit gates get activated from me saving perhaps the last survivor running for their life, I get the least amount of points out of the whole team of dead victims. Technically I'm the hero and the score does not reflect so.

I heal my team, stay out of sight, do gens, and drop hooks and because I didn't get chased I'm screwed out of the top score. It's such a dumb system. Now they mess distortion up in an inadvertent way of proving how they want us to play… up front and center.

I've been saying for years that aura reading was going to ruin the game. Watch! BHVR is going to corner themselves with all these horribly designed ideas.

  • Why can't they make anything without all these glitches? How hard is it to make a clean game? What am I not understanding. Too many things with this Castlevania update is bugged. I am having the same issue on killer side and it's just another bug that's annoying and avoidable. Double-check your work.

  • I'm having the same issue on PS5. They're claiming that I have a duplicate account with the same exact credentials, but that is absurd. I still haven't gotten my rewards. I can't even link my Playstation account.

  • My issue with hexes is the conspicuous hiding places the put the totems. There's no need to search when the hex is right in front of the survivor's face as they walk around. It's actually ridiculous, yet when I'm playing as survivor, the totems get hidden like where's Waldo.

Just like when I play survivor I get teamed with rookies, but when I play killer I get pitted against professionals that can loop with their eyes closed. Makes no sense.

I like the idea, though the perk may actually be a detriment against attentive killers. They'll notice they can no longer see the aura of an incomplete generator, and realize someone's there.

It could also be a means of distracting the killer. While another player goes somewhere else to do a generator.

  • I wanted to further add about Trapper that it makes no sense for him to be injured or hindered by his own bear traps. The whole theme of the character is that he is a sadomasochist with all the metal pipes, spikes and nails stuck in his skin, so why does stepping on a bear trap bother him? I think it would be more creepy to watch someone step on a bear trap and keep walking like nothing happened. The bear traps should be changed to mechanical traps that open up on their own after certain time has lapsed. His very rare add-ons should have nothing to do with his traps but rather him as a killer in order to keep up with the killers that have powers.

Maybe one of his add-ons could cause him to get angry whenever a player stuns him, and for 10 seconds he can walk straight throw pallets and walls face first like a juggernaut and keep going without slowing down. This would make him scarier. The second very rare add-on lets him throw caltrops or bolas down as an alternative to bear traps. As he is, he can not compete with the Huntress who's more efficient at capturing her prey. The most she has to do is open a locker to resupply. Throwing her hatchets is just a matter of time and skill.

I got this idea during a match last month!

    What happened?

I was wounded and saw a survivor coming my way! I was So glad because i needed to be healed! But then as this "survivor" came closer I realized it was The Legion! In Undetectable Mode!

That's when I came up with the idea - What if there was a Killer that could shape-shift and look like a Survivor and tricks them and shape-shifts back quickly like the Monster/Killer?

I thought the killer could go into a closet and stay in there for 9/6/3 seconds and shape-shift into a Survivor that is still alive! I have no suggestions on perks or special powers/abillities, excepting, shape-shifting into another living Survivor...

EDIT: Oh, ofcourse there will be NO terror radius when the Killer has shape-shifted. But it's temporary! The killer can't be roaming around the map indefinately like that!? So I was thinking that perhaps it can remain in its Survivor shape for 30/45/60 seconds...? Oh, and if a person drops a pallet on the shape-shifter while it's in Survivor form, it will take its own shape back. And shape-shifting have a cool-down too! So, perhaps every 30/20/10 seconds the creature can choose to shape-shift..? Maybe a closet isn't even needed...?

And it's weapon could shape-shift into an item...which could possibly reveal its true nature...? Or even better: it could appear as another Survivor...without item!

The hilarious/scary moment will be when Survivors see TWO identical survivors at the same location! XD but one be holding an item is definately NOT the killer, so, maybe it would be a better idea if the shapeshifter even mimicks the item that certain Survivor was carrying..or even appear to be empty-handed...if that Survivor also has nothing!

Another EDIT: A way to identify that a Survivor is actually the Killer is to hear it's non-human breathing! But you'll have to be very close to hear it! And this means you'd be in it's attack range..or you'll have to be hiding!

AND - The Shape-Shifter can even mimmick wounded Survivors! ALL Survivors, at the start would happily rush to aid a wounded survivor, right? Mimmicking a wounded Survivor is a splendid tactic of the Shape Shifter! This will definately cause lots of suspicion and distrust among the Survivors! - Who is The Killer?? And this is when 3rd party comms (Discord, etc.) become really useful!

Also, should a wounded Survivor get healed elesewehre on the map, other Survivors could see the Shape-Shifter (in Survivor form) switch from wounded to healed Survivor...on its own, revealing it's The Killer! This Killer will surely cause lots of funny/scary moments! XD

Edit 3: If an affected Survivor (which the Shapeshifter is mimicking!) gets healed or drops or picks up an item, the Killer mimicks the same image, in an attempt to fool and trap other Survivors, which could cause interesting moments such as when other survivors witness the Shapeshifter (in Survivor form) suddenly producing an item in its hand, or an item simply vanishes out of its hand! This happens because of the "connection" the Shape-Shifter has with the ssurvivor it's currently mimicking.

Anyone has better suggestions about it's powers and perks? Please mention them below! :)

I suggested this idea about 2 years ago. Everybody all but hated it because they couldn't envision the idea working. "The difference a day makes", now some years later plyers are ready for it. I'm glad you are one of the few that sees the potential in this killer idea.

maybe the white ward should make it so you keep the item no matter if you lose it and by that delet any other item you escape with to make duping impossible but not canceling franklins completly

There is no guarantee that you will face a killer with Franklin's, so that in itself is already the balance. However, if the offering bought in is White Ward, then it should do what I suggested instead being forced to drop the item completely making White Ward useless. Instead, what Franklin's can do is deplete all the charge out of the item making it useless in the match if the survivor does get hit while having White Ward.

Soooo? We can get new weapons with The Unknown though with future cosmetics that’ll come out soonish….Again, it’s not anymore exciting than huntress’s weapon or ghostfaces knife or weskers knife, or pigs knife. Etc etc

Sure an axe 🪓 isn’t the most exciting thing but…what would you choose? It’s also not too big of a deal. The killer is a solid killer at least. Most ppl are happy with him.

The Unknown should have had extremely long sharp-looking crooked nails or had hedgers attached to its arms.

  • The other non-IP survivors should be caught up, or more original survivors of diversity should be added. There is too much focus on only select characters (just) because they're popular. I would like to see more dark-skinned character options as well. There isn't enough to appear varied.

  • @KardanBustum said:

Did you feel it too? That the power of the Unknown does not fit into his concept.

It tries to look like a human, which is what mimic does.

It copies human voices to hunt like mimic does.

In the teasers, it behaved like a mimic.

The character's design says that its mimic.

The character's lore says its mimic ("Legend was it thrived in darkness and stole the voices of those it consumed so as to lure others to their doom"; "The Unknown dwells in darkness and can MIMIC its victims")

    But it can't mimic.

    Why, Behavior?

Why instead of mimic we have the Huntress with teleport?

Had they put effort into the design to make The Unknown truly a mimic, it would have synergized well with Knock Out. The Unknown would be able to fake the dying state, and in this state, it would look like the survivor it knocked down, and be able to show its aura to other survivors that would attempt to pick him up. Now that would have been dope. This would also create confusion even if the survivors were SWF. The survivors would be afraid to help each other for fear of it being an impostor. Or the Unknown would be able to stare at a survivor and take on their image without their knowledge and go to a generator that a survivor is working on and catch the survivor off guard. That would be scary.

Imagine a survivor crawling up to you in the dying state and it's not even the real player, but the killer. BHVR with another missed opportunity. At this point, they need to hire me. I would love to work with them.

  • No offense, but that's a fortunate moment for you. Tell me what exactly Nemesis does to aid him in finding survivors or being able to regulate generators that are on par with Legion, and the others I mentioned.

  • Nemesis is practically useless in this mode. This Lights Out mode is pure chagrin. The fact that survivors can blow through generators is just ridiculous. The killer gets no scratch marks to track and is just as lost as the survivors that OUTNUMBER them. The survivors have access to chests that hold TOOL BOXES that allow them to do generators even faster without any counter. Who thought this was a good idea? Seriously???

If you make a mode and certain killers have to be deactivated for the mode, the mode is NOT balanced and shouldn't have been implemented. I won't say what I really think about the creativity of this game because there are so many gag orders on free speech here, but it's not good where things are heading. Very bad execution.

The ONLY viable killers in Lights Out are 1) Legion 2) Doctor 3) Dredge 4) The Knight 5) Cenobite 6) The Hag, may 7) Trapper. That's about it.

The last few weeks I started to resent this game more and more. Almost every game (as killer) I get the sweatiest tryhards you can imagine. Everyone is running the meta (lithe, adrenalin, windows of oppurtunity, resiliance).

Every pallet you get tbagged every window you get nodded and or tbagged. I don't even start about the exit gate dances of flash light clickies. I don't really know why people intentionally ruin the fun of the game by being toxic (must be really sad people in real life) but it started to annoy me to the point, where I noticed I entered the next match with the intention to slaughter everyone.

So at this point I will take a step back and leave the game for a while.

The question remains. BHVR added an antifacecamping mechanic and though it's not perfect it's a good step. Survivors however can be as toxic as humanly possible without ever facing a downside.

I think BHVR should do something about it because more and more of my friends and finally I are not enjoying the game anymore and I think I'm not the only one.

So I assume a fair amount of 'good' players leave the game for a while or forever and if this issue persists it will only leave more toxic people on the platform.

3 friends of mine already decieded to quit dbd and haven't played for 6 months because of this.

With all due respect that's really a YOU problem. Because you know what people try to mean by crouching in front of you and the like, you let it bother you, and you want BHVR to do something about people misusing a basic function in the game like crouching because players taunt you with it? Are you that sensitive? Is your ego hurt? It happens to me all the time, and I annihilate most of them. Then I'm the one who does the taunting.

    Be made of tougher stuff.

Crossplay with PC is horrible for this game and BHVRs obsession with "statistics".

PC players cause an imbalance in balance. The Killer side of dbd is different than console. Yet the developers name changes to PC related advantage, leaving console players to suffer.

Console nurse, slinger, Trickster, artist, blight, nemesis, alien, chucky, oni, Hilbilly is not as strong as PC

Also, PC has the advantages of subtle cheating.

I completely agree, and many PC players cheat anyway.

And by all means, do monetize them. I don't expect geting pride cosmetics for free. But I would love to pay for them. And it is perfectly fine for you to receive money for them. <3

Why does this kind of stuff even matter?

  • @Batusalen said:

It's true that the pip requirements for survivors should be tuned, but if you are simply "not spotted or chased by the killer" but unhooking, healing and doing gens, you should be getting points for:

    • Lightbringer: For actively doing gens + 1/3 of the points for other survivors doing gens.
    • Unbroken: For not being downed in the whole game.
    • Benevolent: For the healing and safe unhooks you or your teammates do.
    • Evader: For being inside the killer TR even if the killer didn't chase you.

So, at minimum you should not be losing any pip. In what grade are you?

I am iridescent IV on survivor with no pips now. Originally I was iridescent III, but I keep getting a -1 to progress because I'm very good at staying out of sight even after a hook rescue. The other survivors leave scratch marks and the killer typically hunts them down. I escape only to find I'm losing a grade for NOT being chased.

I will get gold or iridescent on my grading, but the chase emblem will be empty and I get punished for it. I understand and am a practitioner of ninjitsu, and implement my knowledge of it in the game. So I often hide in plain sight. If I get spotted it usually only happens because another survivor starts working with the killer or becomes a hater because I'm not getting chased and will LEAD the killer to me. I immediately blend my scratch marks with the turncoat traitor and they get chased anyway, while I blend back into the environment.

Yet another commenter who throws their disrespectful assumptions out as fact.

The matching mechanic is already set so the algorithm matches survivors with killers that have perks that will trump the survivor's loadout

    No it isn't.

Everybody wants to have Lethal Pursuer in their loadout because they fail to know the inner workings of how the game positions survivors. You all want that headstart to survivors before they start working gens.

It's random where survivors spawn. And of course we want a perk to actually do something instead of being completely nullified and turned into a disadvantage!

So let's not act like you don't have the advantage in most cases. You sound like you just want it all. Killers don't need anything else. The players using them need to get better. Most of the community can't play, and the autonomy at the killer's disposal to be nice or not, or to play well or not is more often than not a survivor's only saving grace even against some SWFs.

Don't agree with any of that.

Think about it: You're complaining that YOU can't see the survivors through walls and objects so you can have a cake-walk match.

No i didn't. I'm complaing that distortion nullifies a large portion of killer items and even punishes you for bringing them. My loadouts aren't aura reading anymore because distortion comes out on top and i wish it wasn't like that so that's why i made this post.

Let's not forget that if a player uses NO MITHER the killer is notified that this perk is being used. Is that unfair? A killer knows a survivor is using Light Weight. Is that unfair?

Killers are designed to have more information about the survivors than the other way around. This starts in the lobby when you can see what items they have i think it's fine.

Killers don't actually have any perks that HARD counter survivor perks like distortion does to aura reading. Fearmonger arguably makes it easier 99 things like sprint burst. Killer counters just make it less effective and harder to use and distortion should be the same.

You keep saying aura reading makes everything easy and it doesn't. Aura reading helps you find survivors, it doesn't help you catch the survivors and it doesn't stop the survivors from doing anything.

I don't even consider this a challenging debate. The fact that you believe that killers SHOULD even inherently know where the survivor is on the map in, and of itself, tells me all I need to know about your mentality.

Ghostface for example is so broken that practically having a "Spider-sense" that does NOT allow a survivor to look at him without revealing their hiding spot makes him unreasonably unfair. Stealth that can cancel out aura-reading for survivors (not that survivors should have it either), speed, close hooks, "three-gening", etc. You name it the killer can do it.

So no... I don't think my statements are just a fact. They're a KNOWING, and apparently, you don't know.

Title. I have almost 2k hours in this game and my experience over the past couple of weeks has driven me very close to quitting.

I'm a killer main, and until recently won around 80-90% of my games, despite the fact the game (and devs) naturally favors survivors.

However as of recent, I'm running into EXTREMELY sweaty matches every single game. The survivors I'm going up against are P100 squads almost every single time I load into a lobby, and they play like literal gods every match. I'm talking the best of the best survivors who are ridiculously good at the game, all have exactly the perks they need when they need them, guess correctly on every single mindgame, make the correct macro decisions depending upon what my killer can do, etc.

It's just very frustrating to go from winning a nice amount of games and sometimes going up against a sweaty squad to going against a sweaty squad every single game. Either I get a 2-3k after a long slog of a match or I can't even hook anyone. That is the variety I get now as a killer.

The reasons this is not fair are obvious. For one, the game is extremely survivor sided. Nobody would dare argue against something as obvious as that. However, more importantly, and perhaps less obviously, it feels MUCH worse to lose as killer than it does as survivor. As survivor you only share 1/4 of the blame for losing, and so can easily deflect and mentally relax. Just go next. On top of this, survivor gameplay is much more relaxed and less skill-oriented. 3/4 of the game will usually be spent holding m1 or w. Meanwhile killers have to mindgame and macro to perfection from the start of the game to the end of the game at high MMR. If you lose, you have to watch 4 people gang up on you, so the pressure is higher. You were more involved in the gameplay from the start, and only have yourself to blame for losing, so it feels much worse. However, this isn't logical. The game is to blame for a large amount of losses in high MMR, since it's mathematically impossible for killers to win vs perfect survivors. It's, as they say, asymmetrical.

MMR is punishing Killers much harder than it is survivors. If you're unlucky like me, you're going to find sweat lords every match because the cap has been raised, meaning you won't be matched vs casuals any more.

I can no longer run my fun anti-heal loadouts because the survivors just bash gens and don't heal, running early with w as soon as they hear my TR. I can't run my fun chase builds because gens are so fast that no gen defense means a loss.

This is the worst experience I've had in DBD for years, and it's sadenning to see that BHVR plans only to make killers have an even harder time in future when we're already the underdogs.

Please, for the love of everything, save this game for me. Just let it be a party game and put me vs every kind of player. I want to mess around with newbies sometimes; I want to have some tough battles sometimes; I want to get stomped by perfect survivors sometimes. I don't want to get stomped 70% of the time, and struggle to barely draw the match the other 30%.

Whenever I play survivor I run the killer ungodly amounts of time with ease and escape pretty much whenever I want to if I try. Survivor is pathetically easy anyway, and you somehow made it even easier. Killer is the harder role, so if anything they should have a natural advantage.

Fix your game before you lose all your killer mains and survivors have nobody left to tbag.

Sir, that's what it means to "Meet your match". You should look at it as a compliment. The algorithm thinks you need a challenge because you were winning 80% to 90% of your matches. Now you've been humbled. Rise to the occasion and do better. I get the same challenge, but I make sure to hook at least 2 out of the 4.

Use psychology. The problem with SWFs is they love protecting each other. Use that against them. Hook one and make them leap-frog each other on the hook. People that have similar names are my favorite. I know ahead of time to focus on them because if you get one it's easy to get the other. Their friend is usually the one getting them off the hook too fast.

Players that use Dwight are usually gen rushers. Get the gen rusher first. David King and Steve Harrington love to loop. NEVER, and I mean never chase survivors that are looping. All the survivors have to stand still at some point. Work smarter, not harder. Control the gens, control the match.

  • Aura reading ruined this game, to begin with.

  • @OrangeBear said:

    From a killer player perspective.

    • Distortion tokens are too plentiful and you practically cannot stop them from recharging.
    • Distortion essentially nullifies all killer aura reading add-ons and items.
    • Not only does it nullify aura reading. It counter attacks the use of aura reading with it's 10 seconds of hidden scratch marks. It is easier to find a survivor with distortion if you had no aura reading at all.
    • In addition. Distortion allows you to figure out what the killers loadout is by connecting the trigger to the relevant perk and add-on. This ruins the element of surprise. For example, you can determine that the killer has blood warden by going to the exit gate. You will lose a token if they do. The only other perk that allows you to do this kinda thing is object of obsession but that comes with significant risk. I just don't think it's fair that you can use a perk that hides your aura to potentially reveal the killers entire loadout.

Why i think it should be changed :

    • Personally this perk has made me abandon all aura reading items completely for the reasons i mentioned. I think this just goes to show it's doing it's job too effectively. Therefore nerfing it would increase perk variety for me at least.
    • Makes other scratch mark hiding options like Lightweight and other aura reading related perks like Off The Record more appealing for survivors.

How i think it should be changed :

    • Make it so that the perk reduces the effectiveness of aura reading rather than turning it into a counter attack. One suggestion i have for this is to make it so it intermittently hides your aura instead of completely.
    • Change the recharge condition to something that the killer can stop, like completing generators, unhooking survivors, getting stunned etc.
    • Remove the ability for distortion to allow you to reveal the killer loadout. I just think it's an unfitting bonus and would be more interesting if it was it's own perk, like some kind of detective related perk.

Distortion is not as powerful as you make it seem. As a killer player myself most of you rely on aura reading far too much with very little skill displayed. Killers have far too many options already as it is) to overcome just about everything that survivors can do. The matching mechanic is already set so the algorithm matches survivors with killers that have perks that will trump the survivor's loadout. If you have Sprint Burst, you will be pitted against an exhaustion killer using Mindbreaker/fearmonger. Survivor has distortion on so the killer makes them scream.

It isn't Distortion that's the problem. It's the lack of imagination and resourcefulness exhibited by players. Everybody wants to have Lethal Pursuer in their loadout because they fail to know the inner workings of how the game positions survivors. You all want that headstart to survivors before they start working gens. This is a player problem, not a perk problem.

Think about it: You're complaining that YOU can't see the survivors through walls and objects so you can have a cake-walk match. I bet you 3 out of 4 of your killer load-outs are aura-reading perks because you may be a lazy killer. The majority of the community is like this and this is what makes for weak killers that have to resort to tunneling, camping, and cheap perks like opening lockers to make surrounding survivors scream. Let's not forget that if a player uses NO MITHER the killer is notified that this perk is being used. Is that unfair? A killer knows a survivor is using Light Weight. Is that unfair?

This game is all about giving out information to the players. It's a pay-to-win game. This is why the featured popular cameo characters have perks that are better and behind a paywall. There are also only 4 slots for perks on all survivors so what if they have to waste one of their slots on Distortion? There is always something else the killer has to overcome this minor disadvantage.

if the killer already started the hooking animation you can´t break out

Yeah, I'm aware, but they didn't. They'll be on the side of the hook trying to align themselves or something. Prioritizing hooks over breaking out is still not fair when you consider that the killer already has way too many advantages as it is. They get an inherent power, then their four perks, plus whatever extra buffs their add-ons give them. Then they can close the hatch, and even if they can't find the last survivor the Entity will kill the survivor for the killer, the hooks are super close and sometimes parallel to one another, and the exit gates are typically too close together (usually within view of one another). When you consider that killers can run speedster fast, teleport, burrow, block the gate, slow the gate opening down to a crawl, see auras, hear whispers, cause screams, track blood trails, see scratch marks, and if they do happen to hook the last survivor it's an automatic death. There's no struggle sequence. Just death.

I don't believe they should be prioritizing killers hooking over survivors breaking free.

  • I have been saying it for a long time... BHVR needs to add a timer to the matches. The lack of expeditious improvements to this game is staggering. There should be a night-to-day cycle, the last survivor should get rescued, escape, or be released by the entity. Not killed. Handing the last survivor over to the killer just because there is no one else around is proof this game is lop-sided and nonsensical.

Alright, some of these ideas are cool, like giving survivors perk-esque signature abilities, like basekit Deliverance, arguably balanced because you know which character has it.

The mechanic one however makes me doubt how much you know about this game's balancing. 25% instant progress? That's like 2 BNPs in one person basekit. And that's assuming it's a one time ability.

I'll be honest, the game favors the other side, depending on which side you're playing on. But the general consensus for the power hierarchy in this game is SWF > Killer > SoloQ

3gens imo aren't really problematic unless your whole build is made around them. If the survivors put me in a 3gen situation, of course I'll abuse it.

Tunneling? I'd say situational. I try my best to not tunnel as much as possible, but in a critical moment where I either grab another hook stage or lose the game, I'll use whatever tools I can. That being said, I don't support fanatic tunnelers.

I hope tunneling and the difference between SWF and SoloQ can be fixed. Why? Because that means killers get buffed in accordance. That means the playing field can finally be leveled as both sides can get more consistent matches. Remove tunneling, severely halt kill rates, and buff killers accordingly to ensure that a solid 50-60% kill rate is achievable without people being forced out of the game.

Point is, it's unbalanced for both sides. You cry when you see an Alchring Blight, I cry when I see a SWF with 4 toolboxes, a Midwich offering and 3 White Oaks. Really just depends on which side you play.

Thanks. All of these can be adjusted accordingly. I'm just suggesting the overall idea. I don't need to know all the intricacies of the game (like balancing, and the like) to propose a good foundation of an idea. Thanks for taking the time to read the OP anyway.

I like the ideas, but for the first I would suggest it start the wiggle interaction while you are being picked up instead of while on the ground, instead of being like an unbreakable+flip flop combo that will make you instantly wiggle when the killer picks you up.

The second is like an exhaustion version of breakdown, but from the unhooker instead of unhooked, this is interesting and I think it's quite a cool concept.

For the third I've always loved the idea of a survivor that can pick another survivor up, but I do think it should be farther than 15m, maybe more like 25-30, unless the intention of this perk is just to carry someone around the nearest rock so you can pick them up out of view, lol. I also think for it's very niche usage the limit of once per trial isn't a good call.

Great concepts though! I'm curious what others have to say, and what they agree/disagree with.

I agree with you on everything. That's what I meant for the first perk. It's meant to be activated during the attempt of being picked up. I understated the distance in the third perk so the community wouldn't be quick to think it was OP.

STRATEGY can overcome just about any killer. You just either need to play better or have a better team of SWF. If randoms become uncoordinated, then distance yourself from them in the match and be the sole survivor.

They messed up the game when they added aura-reading perks that made being stealthy useless. They also have continued to ignore the fact that the game needs to have more alternative purposes other than simply repairing generators. Maybe we can save someone that's new to the fog realm. Or what if when a new character is introduced in order to acquire it, a team of survivors has to go and save them to add them to the roster, and only the survivors that live will unlock it?

This is not only your opinion, but the opinions of people who asked to strengthen it with PBT. This perk is really useless and I don’t understand why take it at the risk of losing everything + it doesn’t repair the generator during this. What's the point of developers?

You need to make a category like "I want to complicate my game or an empty slot is much better than this garbage perk" where they will be:

perk "Calm Spirit" which is already not popular with players so it also slows you down by 30% ahah WHAT?

perk "No Mither" oh let me die within 3 minutes as the killer sees that I am 1) injured 2) that I can not heal 3) And let him see that I have been using this perk since the beginning of the game. Solution - Your gaming community asked that the survivor at the beginning of the game be healthy and then this perk will have at least some meaning and not ruins for other players.

Well, I'm sorry... the "Potential Energy" perk Guys, I think it's not worth saying that the main goal is to repair the generators and this perk takes the same time from you without giving anything in return so the funny thing is that after the hit you lose it ahah WHAT? I'll say it again WHAT???? This is the worst perk in the history of all games in the world.

Let's not forget the ridiculous oversight of making it so that a player using No Mither will still automatically bleed blood bubbles for the Oni to track when the perk is not supposed to allow a No Mither survivor to bleed AT ALL.

How about No Mither already being a detriment to the entire team for the WHOLE MATCH if the killer uses Thanatophobia?

  • @Stabby_Widdershins said:

And it could still be abused by Survivors standing out in the open [x] distance away from the hook. Let's say 1 to the North, and 1 to the South, 50M away.

Now the Killer is not in a chase, so he loses movement speed. But if he chases North; South heads in for a save. Killer resets. South backs off.

Survivors were STILL too far away to trigger a Chase, so the Killer is STILL losing movement speed. But if he chases one person; he now slower, and can't catch them, and the other gets a free save.

And that still leaves one person doing gens freely. So now the Killer is slower, can't chase anyone, and is basically forced to give up a save because Survivors think they deserve free unhooks.

And 'punish gen camping'? So now Survivors think they deserve free gen time, too?

Why not just say 'I'm tired of Killers trying to win. Plz punish any Killer who does anything I don't like'? Because that's all these two ideas are; Ways to 'punish' Killers for doing anything Survivors don't approve of.

    No.

That can't be abused IF the killer is NOT camping. It's really not hard to comprehend. Don't camp, no penalty. Very simple. You guys act like survivors or killers who haven't found things to "abuse" that are already in the game. Really?

  • @Emeal said:

What if a Unhooked Survivor then loops the Killer near the hook and uses Techniques to keep out of chase.

Why do I as Killer have to be punished for Survivors looping me near a hooked Survivor? or protecting a Gen.

Clearly I'm doing my job as killer in those situations.

Maybe we should not put a stranglehold on Killers because of a few bad apples?

Remember, (you just have to read the message carefully) you'll notice I wrote that as long as they ARE NOT engaged with a survivor they would incur the penalty. Being looped by a hooked survivor IS engagement. Right? Besides, there is no reason for a killer to linger around a hooked survivor for more than 10 seconds if that. That's a long time in this game. And it's also unfair in terms of fun and balance.

And even still, It's no different than the killer having an advantage when camping. Or the killer standing near an exit, being able to see every item the survivors are going to bring into a match and prepare for it to gain an advantage, on top of the other plethora of advantages. The game is VERY killer friendly.

Ooh I wondered where the tinfoil would show itself.

Overall, your entire issue is an overreaction. Yes there are some imbalances in the game, certain strong killers benefit more from certain effects that others. But Killer is the power role. You would not be saying Killers having the ability to: "see through walls, control and see in the darkness, move super fast, have super strength, become invisible, float, lunge very far, be an expert marksman with weapons, become undetectable, projectile vomit that can contaminate ANYTHING (including machines), and did I mention it's contagious plus you have the ability to spread a terrifying aura over a large expanse that can debilitate you, accelerate the usefulness of your property, and telekinetically explode aforementioned machinery just by touching you, on top of being impervious, and cast curses on you." was overpowered in the slightest, if you had sufficient experience with those killers.

"I need a break from this game, it's just not fun. And the devs have said it themselves, "There aren't enough survivors dying." So they want this lop-sided gameplay."

You're complaining that killers are too strong, when you "escape most of your matches" and even the devs are admitting that survivors are escaping far too often. I'm sorry winning all the time is so 'not fun' for you. It kinda sounds like what you want is to play as Killer for once.

I do play killer and am more often than not successful. I main Nemesis, and usually 4k 80% of my trials with all iridescent. Just to elaborate. I escape most of my matches because I don't rescue people. It is that dependency that the killers rely on in order to gain victory. I don't need you to understand. Couldn't care less. I play with No Mither as well with resilience and escape matches. I don't expect to make sense to chaotic-minded individuals.

Only arrogance leads to people thinking you have to be bad at something to make a complaint or negative criticism.

Also, why are you apologizing? You didn't make the game. Anyway, I'm done with everybody's ridiculous banter and rebuttals. ALMOST nothing read is worth remembering. Let's see where the game goes with so many hive-minded low standards. The outlook isn't promising unless the changes I spoke of are eventually made.

I understand what you mean! Distortion when reworked is going to be v nice.

Out of curiousity have you tried mindgaming the aura readings? Back when I went against a lot of killers with AR-perks, I learned the timing/duration of them and tried mindgaming the killer from afar (when I wasn't on a gen ofc). Like yes, I'm here and going this way and as soon as the duration is done, go somewhere else entirely, and see the killer be bamboozled. You can also hide your aura behind a gen if done correctly.

^ it doesn't always work, but when it does it's quite hilarious. I wouldn't try it always though considering every second is precious during a trial xD

Yes, definitely have done that and it is a good one.

  • @TicTac said:

I like the way you write, but you are wrong. Aura reading perks are not a problem, if looping is available. When there is a killer like range nurse, which is almost unloopable, its a problem. But in general its not a hiding game (atleast hiding is not meta), so being found, is not the end of the world. Some killer have great synergy with wallhacks in chase, but nothing broken. Which specific perks are too strong and in which situation?

You are probably not interested in reevaluating your own opinion, atleast thats how you sound. But still, atleast i get an interesting answer and i dont blame you for it. Most people dont want to change their opinion, i did the same many times.

Btw i have 3000 hours and im probably younger than you, to get that out of the way. Not that it matters.

First off, I appreciate the compliment.

The problem with what you wrote is that you assume that everyone is good at looping, and my opinion about looping, auras, or perks is in no way an indicator that I can't deal with any of the mechanics in the game. I'm actually extremely exceptional at the game. It's no more than you complaining to a mechanic that your car isn't working indicative of you not being a good driver. The two have nothing to do with the other unless you're going out of your way to damage your vehicle.

Furthermore, hiding is supposed to be meta. Just because the community at large refuse to perform a modicum of strategy doesn't make stealth gameplay not viable. The developers are to blame for the playstyle of buffoonery at large because they reward doing jumping-jacks in view of the killer, where every player wants to believe they're Jack-Be-Nimble and the Ginger Bread Man while having a blatant disregard for the tracks/scratches they leave behind that more often than not lead to another survivor being caught while trying to complete a generator.

The looping aspect diminishes the game to nothing more than tag with a one-sided element. A player with less prowess in looping would have to resort to sneaking and be unrewarded for their efforts because the killers predominantly have x-ray vision. No matter how you slice it, that's not cool.

The developers have devoted too much time trying to FORCE engagement and conflict for the sake of excitement, and that just isn't necessary. There are plenty of other senses that can be made use of without resorting to hand-holding tactics. If entertainment is such a concern then just add a timer that both parties are susceptible to otherwise everybody gets consumed by the Entity.

I'm all for re-evaluating my ideas as long as you and everyone else are willing to hold yourself to the same standard and guidelines. Most of you are wrong and have a very cookie-cutter approach to almost everything about this game. Is the killer coming? Not a problem. Run rampant and just be chased for the sake of being chased. And rack up points for being (I'm trying real hard to be nice here), let's just say a [BLANK] savant.

The time you've played this game is of no concern to me. To others, it seems to be some need for an acknowledgment to get their merit badge and balloon animal. The only reason longevity matters are to express that the game has been given a fair shake and is in no way being critiqued without hours of experience being devoted to it.

  • @ThatOneDemoPlayer said:

And I've probably been playing longer than you. So save the "Get good" nonsense.

The point is moot because they are fixing Distortion, but to address your statement... I used the two in conjunction with each other because theory they work well, except one (Distortion) gets depleted too fast. I don't expect the majority of the community with a basic orthodox mindset to understand a player doing something challenging. Many of the changes work in my favor because I'm not one of the many basic players using DH, DS, BT, SC, and the like.

And I annihilate most of you. The truth is I'm glad you don't understand the complexity of my strategy that you would likely view as stupid. Stay there. It helps me in the long run. Thanks for sharing your opinion.👍️

If you don't escape many matches in a row, you can face lower MMR killers who most likely run fewer tracking perks, or less powerful builds in general.

I escape most of my matches, but my OP still stands true. The algorithm matches players to the countermeasure of whatever perk they are using. If there is no killer with a counter to whatever perk you are using, it takes a long time to find a match.
