By the way, did anyone find the golden toolbox on the reworked Lery's map? Or did it stay in the same spot?

On Hawkins, there's a secret room if the basements by the stairs. If you're playing nurse, go to the glass room basement location and blink in there. There is a dead scientist with a whiteboard with the chemical formula for gold surrounded by empty beer bottles.
Interesting to note is that the golden toolbox on hawkins has not been found yet.
I really like the one where the Legion mural is on Ormond. It's a nice nod to Jeff's first commission (his first logo design was for the Legion).
Wrong, the golden toolbox was found. It is only visible during EGC. But for everyone in different locations afaik. I saw it once in the portal room where a box opened. But not all my mates saw it there.
I wonder much more where the golden toolbox in the reworked Lery's is.

As killer (Doc main) I tend to farm when at least 2 survs DC in the early game. That way everyone left has at least no losses.
-
I need that DS for my STBFL stacks, so I can change my obsession and get stacks when I hit that now-ex-obsession though
-
Don't change that DS thingy please. My killer needs it to change the obsession so I get my fourth BBQ stack and don't loose my tokens on Save the best for last without bringing in a perk myself ;-)
-
The only positive I can pull out for me as killer is that its getting easier and now I sometimes get some nice 4K even with my green/purple killer vs their purple/red survs. The rounds where I'm only bullied are getting less at least. They are not gone and this is still a heavy issue, but its like I am adapting even though its still a long way to go.
I fear when I would be matched against my ranks it would now be too easy of a challenge than it was before.

@Chop We are reviewing the way we are scheduling updates. This time, we are testing a new schedule, allowing for more time between PTB and release. We hope this will allow enough time for the team to tackle more issues before the release.
This is the best you can do imho. I know that waiting sucks and everyone can't wait to get their hands on the new killer, it is always better to wait a few days longer for maybe some more bugfixes or a little better designed features.
-
I myself playing 50/50 surv and killer in the meantime, but having hard times as killer more often than not. As I am mostly around green ranks I get always matched with purple and red ranks. There are many games I am having a hard time (one game I faced 4 rank 1s, yay!!!) to get even a single hook, especially when playing against a well coordinated team, which can be really frustrating.
At least I don't have to rank up anymore as killer, for I am facing the highest difficulty level in the game possible. And I take the chance trying to adapt and getting better. But sometimes it is really hard.
My conclusion is: playing survivor is much less stressful than playing killer and by far easier.
But playing killer can be much more satisfying when catching some high ranked survs.
-
I think the DC penalties are fine like they are at the moment.
You don't have to fear being banned too long for your game crashing once or any other technical difficulties, but are punished if you decide to DC multiple times in a row
-
My nemesis used to be the doctor. How I hated facing him. If I heard the first scream I just wanted the pain to end fast.
And what happend? Stockholm syndrome? Or whatever you would call it, now I love to play Doctor myself and I've got no more problems facing a doctor. It's more like meating an old collegue now with whom you discuss how to kill this "pesky little survivors that come into your garden and dare to touch your gens" cough
Where was I?
Oh yes. Currently one of the killers that annoys me most is huntress. Those hits when I'm clearly around a corner or she missed me by miles. Its as she would just always hum hello latency, hello ping...
-
How much of a toolbox is consumed now when sabotaging a hook?

yeah, this is indeed how I see it as well, I guess the other thing should be seen as the secondary feature :P
They left that vague as well for now "within a set range of the hook"
What would be good there, 9 meters?
It should not be too far. 8-10 meters should be maximum. (And enough es well)
-
I think the real use of Hangmans will be the aura reading, so you'll see other survs hiding close to the hook to get the quick unhook when you turn around
-
It depends on how long they will stay broken (Saboteur doesn't increase this time anymore). And the toolbox won't last for many sabotages. Also Saboteur will have a cooldown. So survs cant 99 the hooks anymore and destroy them when on of their mates is about to go down.
I think destroying hooks so the killer won't find any will be very hard
-
Empathy is a good perk to combine with Breakout, cause you know in advance where your mate might go down and can get close early so you can use your perk. For the active part Mettle of Men is the next best thing to get this protection hits. We're gonna live forever makes them even generate bloodpoints. And personally I would take Decisive Strike.
Maybe a styptic is a good addition to, for it allows you to take one more protection hit.
-
Hag and Doctor are my current favourites. Sometimes I play Ghostface with Selfie-Roulette (Rancor + Nemesis) or Billy for fun.
-
I usually change the perks I am playing with after a while.
Right now I'm using Kindred, Alert, Iron Will and one perk I change every game by mood.
-
I dont think gen speed should be changed. But there are too many unbalanced maps in this game that need to be fixed. And the RNG is sometimes a big problem with the maps.
-
Getting (exactly) the same map 3 out of 5 games
-
I think it was both a buff and a nerf.
Madness was nerfed
Driving survivors into madness and his chase potential was buffed
-
When I play Doctor, the gameplay especially in chases feels much more fluent now. And his static blast is much more reliable than his static field was.
As killer I ignored the changes to madness so far, because I dont care about those effects. (Maybe I'll try them sometime later)
Otherwise when playing against Doctor, the effects of madness are much less of a problem since you meet doc really often these days. I still need to get used to those reverse skillchecks better right now. But reducing madness easier makes it by far less annoying. (I hated to play against the old Doctor!) And since you get hit by a static blast more often, madenss MUST reduce it to tier 1, to keep it balanced.
So I am fine with the rework for both sides now.
Btw.: Countering Calm spirit is easy as Doctor: Just use restraint.
-
IMHO Doctor gameplay is much more fluent now without having to switch modes. And the new static blast is a real good replacement of the static field. The only issue I personally have with him is the uselessness of most of his addons because of the madness nerf. But as long as I don't play a real madness doc, I can live with that.
My current build is: Whispers, Pop goes the weasel, Save the best for last, BBQ with Restraint Class III and Mouldy Electrode
The next run will replace BBQ with Dark Devotion, to see if that fits.
-
As survivor when being slugged is pretty boring. Good that I can do different things while waiting to die finally. If the killer finds it a good idea doing so, so what? Let hime do it, but wake me up when game is over. ๐ด
As killer I avoid slugging as far as possible. The only exception is when I down a survivor and a second chase could be started immediatly. But I never felt the urge to slug an entire team.
-
I don't really care for the ruin changes neither as survivor (red/purple ranks) where I'm usually pushing through it, nor as killer (purple/green ranked) where my perk builds in almost every case don't contain any hex perks aside from haunted grounds.
So Ruin could even be removed from the game and it would almost make no difference to me.

Who would complain about the DS? The Nintendo DS was a huge pioneer of portable gaming and is an important part of gaming history
๐
I think DS is meant that perks that activates when you are unhooked and deactivates exactly the second before the killer picks you up.

The Plague, definitely. As for I hate vomiting.

I love dark devotion as a survivor. When I get hit I then just run towards another survivor and just watch him run for the hills, It's hilarious.
Yes, thats one of the best parts of it.๐

I guess I'm going to like that perk even more now. :)

Sorry this is inaccurate, the Doc's blast does work on it, so does Caulrophobia & Unnerving Presence etc, this is by design and working as intended.
Nurses Calling is not designed to work on it, because NC is not a perk that's based on Terror Radius but distance from the killer.
Thanks for the info. That means I could combine Dark Devotion with all those nice terrorradius perks and abilities? That cries for some fun builds though. ๐
-
I would guess it should work with Legion too, as the description says inside his TR. But Dark Devotion should not be applied by a hit in FF, cause that is not a basic attack.
-
Okay, thats gotta be fun. :-) I will try this as soon as Im back in game.
-
I still don't understand why so many killers are using Ruin. In higher ranks survivors are just pushing through gens as Ruin wasn't there or one of them spawns directly in front of it and its gone instantly. So the time Ruin buys is almost unnotable to me. (Playing both sides, but as killer tried Ruin only a few times where it did almost nothing).
-
As Ghostface: Nemesis, Rancor, Furtive Chase and Dark Devotion. Sometimes I switch Furtive or DD for Corrupt Intervention or PGTW.
As Hag: Dark Devotion, STBFL, Corrupt Intervention and M&A

@[Deleted User] said:
Currently it does not work, and I don't believe it will work after the rework either.
The thing with Dark Devotion is that it reduces your terror radius to 0, and gives the survivor a new terror radius, which is always 32 meters regardless of what your current one was (if you're Huntress with 20 meter radius and use dark devotion, survivor still gets a 32 meter terror radius). It does not transfer your terror radius on to the survivor. Otherwise perks like Nurses Calling, Coulrophobia, Unnerving, etc etc, would all work -- and they don't.
I will assume if you use Dark Devotion and try to use static blast, it will just zap nobody because your terror radius is of course, 0 meters.
That sounds somewhat logical from my point of view. I think I need to try it out in a custom match tonight.
-
I play it on Ghostface and my Hag. And its fun to confuse survivors a lot.
I've got lots of gen grabs with the hag thanks to it and it combines fine with STBFL (even if they should exclude each other, but I tried and it works just fine)
On Ghostface I pair it up with Nemesis and Rancor (thinking about Furtive Chase) for an obsession roulette build

He means will it zap people in the terror radius created by Dark Devotion.
As far as I can tell, no reason it shouldn't.
Yes exactly. Sorry for being unclear about that. So if I hit my obsession with Dark Devotion, is the terrorradius the obsession emits the area for my Static field / Static Blast?

I am usually purple ranked as killer and red ranked as survivor.
And I don't use hex perks as killer (tried Devour Hope, wich is usually gone in seconds after match start, so...)

Maybe it gives a Bloody Party streamers boost for everyone or something.
No, that would make them too much common knowledge ;-)
Its the same with the secret room on Hawkins.
Btw. Has anyone found the Secret on Sanctum of Wrath already?
-
I was used to pick Selfcare for a long time playing DbD and I'd say its still not a bad perk.
But I am not using it for a while now and I must say it makes me more efficient. Okay, I am one hit for a bit longer than with SC.
But since then when being unhooked or escaped a chase now, instead of healing myself, I assist my mates in doing gens before I let them heal me (exception for We'll make it still active on my mate)
-
Legion, cause they are 4
-
As Killer: I want to get better at looping and not being outplayed by reddies so easy
As Survivor: Getting better on chases in the maps like Mothers Dwelling where loop spots are kind of far away from each other
-
I think Ruin is fine as a Hex if the reward equals the risk of it being cleansed early.
Ruin should by any means NOT encourage survivors to get stick on gens, Its absolutely counterproductive. And as early slowdown perk maybe it should be like:
- No more great skillchecks
- Increased penalty when multiple survivors are working on a generator
- Increased Toolbox consumption when working on a gen
Just annoying enough to make them search for it, but not as stressfull for new players.
What do you think?
-
I dont use Ruin (anymore). Most of my killers I play either Corrupt Intervention, Pop goes the weasel or Thanatophobia in different combinations.
My Hag usually has Corrupt intervention, STBFL, Dark Devotion and Thanatophobia(or Pop instead of Thana depends on the map I want to play)
Corrupt intervention usually gives me enough setup time or on bigger maps makes the survivors come much closer to my web so I can catch one or two before any gens are done.
-
My questions for new ruin are:
- Will it be combineable with Surveillance?
- Can the killer still kick gens when it is active (eg. to apply Pop goes the weasel)?
-
The advantage of the new ruin is that it is not as obvious as the old one. But I still prefer Corrupt intervention even though it is useless after 2 mins. But for my hag thats just enough time to setup.

What about a DC in a Custom Game?
Lets say me and a friend try something out and instead of ending the game regulary we just quit because it doesnt matter to either of us. Does this count as well? Or is it just the regular online games that you get banned from? Can you have a custom game when you got a ban?
And I follow the opinions here that you should not be banned if your game crashes(especially when it comes up with the report crash screen!), for this happens way too often.
And yes it is easily possible to notice the difference between manually quitting an application or a game(ALT+F4/Leave Match via menu), loosing internet connection, or other issues like crashes, bluescreens, etc. As software developer I had to programm around such things often enough.
-
It means something else than "I'm doing my gymnastics because I can't do anything else." ?
-
If they played fair and good enough I'll usually let the last one leave (It was 5000 vs 300 Bloopoints the last time I did so, no loss for me, but a win for the survivor) because fair and untoxic play has to be rewarded somehow.

Hi, I quite often get freezes while the game is loading and then have to close application in task manager.
Will I be penalised for this?
Thanks!
That is a question I have in mind too. What about game or pc crashes? To penalize theses is definitely the wrong way. And as far as I can tell the game already knows different kind of DCs (the ones with sound and the ones without)
Maybe devs can make that a little bit clearer?
