The latest teaser of that found-video footage was really good as well! The build up has been excellent and whatever the hell that creature is, it looks like it's wearing someone's skin. It's very ill-fitting.

So I reckon it's reasonable to presume the killer won't be a shapeshifter. My guess is that it wears the skin (for whatever reason), and maybe uses Survivor voices as a mimic to lure them. Perhaps the terror radius is replaced by injured survivor sounds? I reckon leaping will be a part of the power too.

Whatever it is, these build-ups remind me of how BHVR used to promote original chapters, before that leaker idiot ruined it.

Agreed! The build up has been amazing - it all feels so true-horror!

Yeah might not be a shapeshifter (although that'd be very cool). I reckon the same - the killer potentially mimics survivors as a way to lure them in. Either way, super excited to see what unfolds from this! 🤩

I’m enjoying it too! 🥰 Are we gathering that this killer could be some form of shapeshifter?

When is this scheduled to release to the PTB?

A shapeshifter would be so cool! This almost reminds me of the monsters from Until Dawn! 👀

There's been some audio analysis on twitter from the teasers which you hear the killer say "help me" and "it's me", so maybe the killer can shapeshift into survivors? or at least mimic their voices?

I think PTB will be next week, not 100% sure though 😍

  • This is a terrible bug that needs patching. My boyfriend just got called a hacker and probably got several reports on him because he started running super fast in a match. He's playing on Xbox One S, was as Claudette. Perks were; Botany Knowledge, Dead Hard, Spine Chill and Appraisal. By his description, he was working on a gen, ghostface was approaching his gen so spine chill was going off, he managed to finish the gen and all of the sudden he gets an infinite sprint burst effect. Killer DC'd few moments after because they thought he was hacking. I proceeded onto telling them all of this but they didn't believe me. Made up claims that he was hacking on Windows 10 lol.

  • Yep, for Tome 1 and Tome 2, I have done all challenges and gotten all entries for each lore category and they are all locked for me. Can't click or watch any of the lore entries. I just wished they took more time with updates rather than sticking to their 3 month update.Every time, we just get bugs upon bugs.

Seems like something that new killers might get confused/carried away on instead of catching survivors.

But that same argument could be said for sabotaging hooks. Why do it if your main goal is to work on gens. If they decreased the amount of lockers and make it so you could break them, then players would have to start running anti aura reading perks instead of using lockers (In some cases) 😊

  • @AChaoticKiller said:

Na... too many lockers and it would be a waste of time for a killer to break them when survivors rarely use them in the first place. its also not a good idea to be able get rid of one of the few stealth mechanics that survivors have.

Just feel like the more options we give for both survivors and killers, the less the game is going to feel RNG oriented. Adding a break action wouldn't remove the RNG mechanics already in the game but would ease and possibly make games feel more balanced. Plus players could just ignore the mechanic entirely if it didn't suit their perk build. Idk 🤷

  • Bumped it because it's been a while. Thoughts?

  • When a survivor is soulless, maybe they can see a ghost like clock which can be interacted with to turn back time. Turning back time would mean the survivor would travel to the location their soul was taken and it would give them their soul back. Also, a light, almost transparent wind swirl animation could play in the location of a player travelling back in time and it could alert the killer? Just a thought :)

  • Maybe breaking a locker while a survivor is inside would injure them and trap them in. A survivor would have to "repair" the locker and free the survivor? :)

  • Supposedly, the entity is creating all these realms to torture survivors but will we ever see the real location of the entity?

  • @CoolAKn said:
Perhaps for the indoor maps, they could add windows to the outside? Make the environmental sounds slightly more audible in the outer hallways? Maybe even a couple of holes in the ceiling?

I agree! Indoor maps could get a little love too. For example in the Léry's Memorial Institute, Treatment Theatre, the windows could have weather effects. If there was a storm, it would flash once in a while (Instead of being constant white light coming from it). If it was raining, you'd hear the rain splashes on the windows, etc... Just little changes/additions to the game would make it scarier I think. :)

  • @NikkoleS said:
Lol the emotes are definetly not rarely used.

I don't think that was the main focus of this post though.

@White_Owl I like the idea. I don't think it would change gameplay or give any advantage to survivors. Also more emotes would be cool but I feel like adding too many would just over complicate it. Maybe a max of three? Maybe the essential "point", "come here" and "wait"? Adding just one more basically

  • I agree with this wish 100%. I feel like giving the player more info isn't a bad thing, especially when running chest perks.

  • I just think prestige blood should be a toggle option for any cosmetic. I mean it'd take a while to make the system to wrap a blood texture onto the model but I feel like it's doable. There are some really cool cosmetics that I like to use but would look even better if I could add prestige blood to it. :)

Having the BBQ perk equipped at the same time would give the killer an advantage, but as a survivor you would still see the killer before the killer is right next to you, giving you enough time to start running away. Depending on how good the killer is too, you may still be able to avoid the killer by moving away from his direct line of sight, when you see the killer.

Well yeah it's avoidable but a lot of survivors still get grabbed or surprised by myers so it'd be the same situation here. Also, no terror radius can be quite drastic especially when used with 1 hit killers. Just imagine, bbq, insidious (this perk idea) and monitor & abuse. As a billy/T3 myers/leatherface it'd be quite overpowered.

  • @Mad_Will said:
I played a couple games with this perk last night, until I started receiving abusive messages from someone who was playing as a survivor and I explained to them that I was simply using a perk that the game offered. Then I found myself questioning the perk and wondering if maybe that it could be altered in a way, that made it not about camping, but rewarded you for doing something. What I came up with was: Unlocks the stealth ability. When you sacrifice a survivor, you reduce your Terror Radius to 0 metres and thus become stealthy for 40/50/60 seconds. Which is different to the original post of this topic, but still gives a Terror Radius of 0 metres, but at least you have to do something more than just activating it by standing still and you can move around with it being activated.

That's reasonable as the killer would have no incentive to insidious camp when they've just killed someone. Although it might be a little overpowered with bbq perk.. Not sure

  • Now that looping will be less annoying for killers, can games be a little longer? Maybe add a new objective to the game? For example; you'd have to complete 5 gens and 3 decryption machines or something? (Identity V remake). I feel like extending the time of the trials would make camping/tunnelling/slugging a little less common as killers would have more time to kill. Thoughts?

  • @Soren said:
Okay, I like the direction of your idea, not the execution.

What about: every time you hook a survivor, you lose your terror radius and get Bloodlust 3 for 20 seconds, as long as you don't use your power (to avoid Nurse/Hillbilly being overpowered)? It will make it a good perk to "patrol" for killers that do need it.

I much prefer that idea :)

  • They've done so much more than what you're saying. Just in the latest patch they added a map/killer/survivor, a new cosmetics shop (which is a huge deal), a leveling system and other minimal stuff.. To implement something into a game, you gotta plan it out, get the concept approved, then you gotta implement it into the game and if you're lucky, the bugs that it creates doesn't mess up older content. I might be exaggerating a little but come on dude they did a good job last patch. We gotta give them some breathing space.

  • The music Idea isn't bad but only to an extent in my opinion. I think it would be cool for killers to have different chase music to fit their theme but I don't think players should be able to choose which music it plays. I'm worried that would break the immersion of some killers and would break the uniqueness of each killer.

As for the items skins, I like the idea of bringing more item skins to the game but maybe only when there's an event? I feel like they did a really good job with the med-kits on Halloween and should continue to do so for future updates.

  • The leveling system literally came out on the latest big patch. Like, I agree with you that it needs a better rewards system but I'm pretty sure the dev team also know that. The only reason why it's still not implemented is probably because they have to focus on rebalancing perks, fixing bugs, adding new killer/survivor/map, adding new cosmetics to the store.. All of which leaves a small gap for new things. I'm sure your concerns are aligned with the dev team.
Like it's good to give your own opinions and suggestions for the new devotion system but you shouldn't be angry at the dev team for not having implemented anything like that yet. Give them time to sort out other stuff too. :)

@Dav105 It Says The link has expired

Mmhh I set the settings to never expire and have unlimited uses though.. Strange.. Well here's an updated link I guess https://discord.gg/mJ3B2WB

  • I recently posted an idea that incorporates what you're suggesting! Maybe you'd like to see it.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/97827/#Comment_97827
  • (BTW's the game already has a syringe but it's just an addon for the med-kits and only serves one purpose)

    Sounds too OP imo. It would basically replace Sprint Burst in a way. I think it's still a good idea though. Maybe it can work like this;

    -- Items --

    Common Syringe:
When used, removes blindness side effect.
    1 use only.

    Uncommon Syringe:
When used, removes mangled side effect.
    1 use only.

    Rare Syringe:
When used, removes haemorrhage side effect.
    1 use only.

    Very Rare Syringe:
When used, removes exhaustion side effect.
    1 use only.

    Ultra Rare Syringe:
When used, removes exposed side effect.
    1 use only.

To use a syringe you must be standing still and right click. It will give you a progress bar which would last 7 seconds (Can increase based on rarity). There would be skillchecks to complete too. Once the progress bar is completed, the syringe takes effect.

Once the syringe takes effect, you get a high period of 120 seconds where your vision is normal. After that timer ends, your FOV gets a little bit smaller and you won't be able to see any auras for 40 seconds. There could be some ominous music in the background for the 40 seconds.

    -- Addons --

    • [name] Powder: Slightly increases your luck while under syringe side effects.
    • [name] Powder: Slightly increases healing speed while under syringe side effects.
    • [name] Powder: Slightly decreases skill check difficulty while under syringe side effects.
    • [name] Powder: Slightly decreases skill check probability while under syringe side effects.
    • [name] Powder: Slightly increases cleansing speed while under syringe side effects.
    • [name] Powder: Instantly and completely heal. (Anti-Haemorrhagic Syringe moved from med-kit to syringe)

I know FPS could be a potential problem and it would be wonky on indoor maps (the game, Lery's (maybe the offering would just be wasted on these maps)).

BUT, I could not agree more with this post! This would be awesome!!!! The extra layer of realism and having to listen extra carefully for sounds of the killer/survivor. Plus it would give every map to be a little different, you may have played Coldwind Farms 200 times, but have you played it in the snow?!

    Up-voting!

    100% agree!
Also, instead of it being an offering, it could be a random event that is chosen at the beginning of the match. For example, when the map is loading, it could choose between snow/light rain/storm/dry storm or normal event. If a map like The Game or Lery's doesn't support a specific event then it would pick from the available ones.

  • The problem is that if they are more apparent and louder they stop being background and will be more distracting than immersive. I totally agree on weather effects though.

@White_Owl Yeah I can see that being a problem but it'd always be nice to atleast try it out right? They could take it into PTB and see if the community likes it and if it's too distracting then they could reduce the volume on the sound effects :)

  • @White_Owl said:
What game do you play? DbD is already full of those effects: you can hear the wind blowing through leaves and grass, cricket noises, wolves howlings in the back ground...

I feel like the sounds could be more apparent and louder so that everyone feels immersed (Even players like me who play below 50% volume). Also, this idea includes weather effects like rain and thunder which is something we don't have on a global scale (for every map).

Which is why I think they should look into this idea :)

  • Would love if chapter 9 had this idea implemented! Probably not but it's nice to dream XD

  • I like this suggestion. I feel like currently the stun penalty is favouring the survivors. You get stunned and then you have to break the pallet in order to catch up to the survivor (and if you go around the pallet, it's still a waste of time sooo...).

  • I agree with this suggestion although instead of being in the lobby, it should be a small trial (Just like the tutorials) where you can practice skill checks. The generator would never progress and you could have different skill checks pop up for example Hex ruin.

I personally am good with skill checks but I think this idea would really help out new players.

  • bumping it for the last time and hoping this gets the devs attention <3

  • Basically, implement the murder of crows from "Backwater Swamp - The Pale Rose" into other maps. For people who don't know what I'm talking about, the map above has a mechanic which makes it so if you approach the big boat, all crows fly off together and make a loud sound effect.

  • I think the biggest problem is when you have a key to open the hatch XD.. It's so small so people don't really see it. Also, when you try and signal with "2" they don't really understand that it's for the hatch and won't follow you. There should definitely be more emotes or at least one more which basically the character holds whichever item they have on their hand and it will have a shiny effect on it. So you can somewhat make out whether people have keys or not XD.

  • It's a cool idea for sure! Although it's kind of sad because licensed killers don't and probably will never get custom outfits purely because DbD don't have the full rights to the characters.

  • @MandyTalk said:
The problem with adding weather to the games, is fps issues that some players would have - initially in the Red Forest some people had fps drops due the extra "environmental impact" of the rain in that map.

Personally I'd love to see a map where it is snowing.

Ooo, snow would be awesome! I agree with you though, sometimes adding weather to games can decrease FPS but there must be ways to optimise it, right?. I mean if it were a big FPS drop, wouldn't they've taken it off from the Red Forest map? Just thoughts :3

  • "HIDE OR DIE" game has a lot of environmental sounds which make it scary. Taking these small effects and placing them into DbD would be peerrffeect.

    https://youtu.be/ke2yDS_rKoI?t=4m35s

Although gotta say, Hide or Die is pretty unpolished to say the least. Dead by Daylight is so much better and it could be improved a lil bit by just adding some sound/visual effects.

Just thinking about this idea makes me HYPPPEDDD!

This link will never expire. Enjoy

  • Okay so reporting it and recording would be basically complaining about it and waiting until they hear enough responses to make a change (or temp banning the killer)? I feel like creating this thread and asking for change is more efficient. I'm not forcing this idea down on anyone, especially the devs. They can either ignore this change or take it into consideration.

  • Keeping something in the game just because it favours the weak side (killers) isn't the solution really. They need to balance both survivor and killer so it works based on skill, not unfairness. I'm sure if they were to fix the basement body block, they would also fix something survivor related so it's fair for both sides.

  • Yeah but the thing is, body blocking the basement shouldn't be a feature just because other mechanics are survivor-sided. Like they can easily fix the hook body blocking by removing collision against survivors when the killer is carrying someone.

  • You shouldn't let someone die on hook just because of an OP spot. Literally, all they'd have to do is make it so the staircase is a little bit wider so killers cannot fully block survivors. In other words, you can escape the basement but the killer can still somewhat try and prevent you from leaving.

  • I'm not specifically talking about an entire team being down there. Whenever you want to save someone from basement, usually both get downed and hooked.. Then it becomes a game about rescuing 2 people. You can just leave the person to die in the basement but that shouldn't be the mentality of people when playing this game.. You should always try and save everyone, even if it's risky..

  • Well if you guys really consider body blocking as a "mechanic" then they could just increase the width of the staircase. That way, the killer can still bodyblock but they can't trap survivors in the basement..

  • So you do agree that the basement is unbalanced...? As you stated the whole game is 'unbalanced'. I play on both sides, survivor and killer. I must say trapping people in the basement is a big advantage (easy win) which makes it overpowered. Adding another escape route would just delay you going down again. It's not as if survivors would be invulnerable to the killer..

  • Lol it does not make it scary.. It's an unbalanced spot on the map and unfortunately, players can't just avoid that spot purely because it's too OP. If they wanted to make it scary, they could simply make it so your health goes down faster when you're hooked in the basement..
