  • I chase someone for 3 mins. 3 generators done. pellets and windows all around. teabag after stunned via pellet or greed and around another 2 loop. I almost hit him, he dead hard.

  • @RequiemLestat said:

I'll preface this rant with: I know the never-ending cycle of toxicity and how the feedback loop is proverbially exponential.

I killer main. I play fair. I don't camp, tunnel or slug. I don't put on oppresive builds, i consistenly mix them to see their effect on my games.

Around a year ago I picked the game back up after a six month break. I have a full-time job so can play when I have the little spare time. Not too sure of the exact amount of hours I have put in to it, but I have a P3 50 Pinhead, P3 50 Pyramid Head, a 50 Nemesis and middling to low levels on every other. My survivors have most perks unlocked but not all.

    I'll condense this...

80-90% of my games involve either some or all of these:

. Two or three survivors taking it turns with the bullying, God-looping, when you leave the chase the bait you again and again, no objectives, nothing but to follow you around the map being a pest.

    . Tea-bagging at the pallet

    . Constantly clicking flashlights

. DC'ing after the first down

. At least 4 gens done before second hook

. Hex totems immediately cleansed both during game and end-game like NoED etc

. Boon CoH and Shadowstep combo

. Cussed out royally in the chat, "Suxk it, NoED toy, get better," I reply: Dude, it's 4 brains versus 1, and you don't need to be that good to get five gens done and escape." His response, "We played better than you." Since when was this entitlement the rule of law for survivor mains?

You all played like trash, I play fairly, I'm the trash? To say it's stressful is an understatement. Why would anyone play killer anymore?

Cue the, "Disable end game chat" "Get better," "Run better perks," "Do something else... blah blah blah." Those are indivivdual solutions, I am pointing at a larger problem. A full year continuous play and this IS the norm. No matter if anyone tells you any different.

Fix it how? Or leave what I consider to be one of the most addicting games I've ever played, pumped money in to, loyalty time and time again and I swear I'm not a masochist.

Hint. The dev themselves don't even play the game. They plays hockey.

They are even playing hockey right now if you think they listen to their community feedback, you're wasting your time.

"Killer only needs to get 1 kill" - I literally laughed when I hear that. I am sure there are 4 survivors. Not sure if that guy can maths but let me type it for him in case his maths fail.

    0/4 = 0% 1/4 = 25% 2/4 = 50% 3/4 = 75% 4/4 = 100%

0/1 kills = below average, a win? LOL

2 kills = average, not a bad game

3/4 kills = above average, feels good to win cos effort got paid of with kills, very satisfying not that this guy know becos 1 kill = win LOL

Just from what he type I can feel he only enjoys the game by escaping, escaping is a win to him.

It really shows how much this lead developer Patrick is out of touch with the community and proves that he don't play the game at all.

  • It's simple really. If you can't bully the killer means its too op. that's the survivor's logic

  • I 4k a SWF team with 4 deadhard with adept ghostface perks. :(

  • I mean.. You can see how much they care by looking at the forum. I'm pretty sure everyone already gave up at this point since it is the same as shouting @ a wall.

  • Nurse Blight Spirit executioner and legion (cause great chase theme)

Further proof that this game is hard for new players to get into.

You know how much they care when their dev themselves don't even play the game. They relys on players themselves on PTR. We paid for the game to test the game for them.

  • lost more than 4k players now btw. considering steamcharts and console

What I meant is they are not really doing anything about it.

And you are justified in this critisism.

While I think that one can not really blame them for having this issue in the first place, I do think it is fair to ask why they haven't done anything about it yet - especially when keeping in mind that they have most likely been aware of it for a long time now.

I wasn't trying to say that you couldn't critisize the Devs at all, you definitely can and should (the whole point of this Forum is to provide feedback after all, whether that be positive or negative doesn't matter), what I tried to say is, that this is one of those issues that I believe to be a lot harder to fix than they look like. Its one of DbD's most fundamental mechanics we're talking about after all, which in itself is very hard to fix now plus blocks other fixes to different issues too, which are commonly requested by the community.

Its not so much that I think they wouldn't listen to us, but rather that they don't really know how to go at this.

As for Totem spawns, those are a very different issue. And to be fair here, especially on newer maps, Totems are hidden a lot better than on the old ones (which the Red Forest is). And it is also part of the Hexes risk that they might not last long, they are inconsistent by nature.

Regarding your critisism on the MMR system, i am fully behind you. I think it was a bad idea from the start, as explained in the OP a system like that was doomed from the get go.

Yeah. I agreed that forum is meant for giving feedback and such. just giving my 2¢ about BHVR managing their player base.

As for totem, I'm sad to say that for the newest haddonfield map, their totem spawn in the middle of the "dark" playground or in the middle of the park. there is even 1 totem that is not reachable. :(

Just as @Hanzo_Hasashi7 said. there been tons of feedback about the game on the same stuff (Deadhard for example) but there is no action taken. Just a (We will look into it) for months

  • yea :/ no point arguing with a survivor main that didn't try killer before. Guy didn't even knew that there is 2k survivor queueing while there is only 1 digit killer queueing.

  • It's possible. you just need to play against this perk that everyone uses but it's balanced in BHVR's eyes

    image.png

  • I understand what you meant by it is a day 1 problem. What I meant is they are not really doing anything about it. There is tons of "feedback" about the most recent Q&A with the game dev. The game dev themselves don't even understand their own game and compare it with hockey.

For example, your hex totem is cleansed in the first minute because it is out in the open due to a bad map design. Are we supposed to go for another perk and run "Undying" and pray that the 2nd totem would maybe be a better spot?

    Untitled Image

Clearly, they don't play their own game.

I dont think thats a very fair way to look at it.

Keep in mind, this is a day 1 issue. When this first came to be they had no community to listen to and they never expected this game to be as succesfull as it eventually turned out to be. Gens were timewasters first and foremost and back then that way okay, because that was exactly what the game needed to function.

And in a way, this whole thing continued to be (or even escalated) because they listened to the community - they got feedback on gens being boring and as a result they focussed their attention on what was generally considered to be "fun" - that being chases.

While we can critisize them for choosing this path instead of reworking gens, we also got to keep in mind that back then they were a very small Dev team and didn't have the ressources to address such a fundamental issue - and now that they do, we are at a point in time where there are so many fundamental things bound to this mechanic, that changing it for the better is hardly an option - i was not lying when i said that i think it would be quicker for them to just redo this whole game and release a DbD2 instead of trying to fix the current game.

Plus, as stated above, I hardly see anyone talk about this nowadays. They can't listen to their community in this regard, if the community is silent about it (which is why i made this post in the first place, to shed some light on this problem).

What I meant is the dev will not know what's going on if they themselves are not playing their game. That is where "PTR" comes into play asking their own customer to test their product when they themselves should be the one testing it.

For example, a hex is destroyed in the first minute of the game because it is way out in the open. We asked the dev about it but no actions nor feedback is given at all. a simple (we will look into it) would even make their own player base happy. You can see countless videos about their reaction/feedback on the most recent dev Q&A. All they gave is "Maybe" or No. You learned nothing after watching 30 minutes to the point where they are comparing it with hockey?

I understand it is a day 1 issue but they are the game dev for a reason. They are supposed to do their job and make it entertaining for both killer and the survivor. It takes them ages to buff/nerf something.

  • TL;DR

Dev needs to play their own game and communicate with the community better. Fixing SBMM does not mean ######### when game is not balanced because there will not be enough killers on the high mmr therefore after a long queue, they will be matched with a killer with a lower or equal mmr which survivor will be dominating still. SWF and such is in play too so killer will have the disadvantage ever since the start of the game.

  • I'm glad that you're happy about it. I have no problem with gay peoples but I have a problem if they "market" on it like it's a "special" case.

  • after stabby stabby. that happened

  • @Valik said:

It feels miserable, because you gotta know that more than 75% of the game's core issues could be fixed with a little bit of direction and one week of solid work.

Cranking out dozens and dozens (if not HUNDREDS) of cosmetic items, having modelers shovel filler content for the next tome - that's not going to increase revenue.

Adding portraits to the end-game screen should take a team of 10 people (less than 1% of their employee workforce) a single week to implement. Do a couple of closed tests to make it stable, bake it into the PTB by next week. All of the players will be happy, nobody will be upset, and it took very little time or effort.

Hell, you could probably get a single employee to code this with a tiny bit of oversight.

Coding updates for perks should be high on their list of priorities. Currently, Killer metas and survivor metas are driving down player retention as well as DLC sales. (Who wants to buy the twin DLC? The perks suck! Nightmare On Elm Street is probably not pulling a lot of purchases recently either!) What if I told you that adding 1% to Fire-Up on the backend numbers would take virtually no effort and increase the perk's use and DLC sales by more than 1%?

There are over 100 survivor perks, but less than 20 of them are getting any real screen time.

There are almost 100 killer perks, and fewer than 20 are even considered any good.

There's 27 killers in the game and 19 of them are B tier or lower.

Right now, Behavior has a problem on their hands. It isn't a problem with content - it's a problem with QUALITY.

As it stands, the content they generate is ~20% quality, and ~80% problem.

Until Sadako is worth buying, or the perks make the game interesting, people have no reason to buy her.

While the community has a lot of very clever and seriously lucrative ideas for cosmetics - we get things like Shamrock Blight.

While there may be an issue up top at the executive level where the big bosses OVER the dev team don't understand that Quality drives profits much, much more effectively than Content does - there's another explanation at play.

From my experience in the production field, there's a lot of red tape and bottlenecks that constrict and murder progress. Hearing that a company has 100 employees may make you think that they are a powerhouse, a machine. But then you learn that there are only 3 employees generating content and only 5 implementing it in any meaningful way - and that the other 92 employees are administrative and support.

This usually means that production has to go way up to the tippy top and come back down on the other side - choked by red tape.

Loads of project loads fall between the cracks as it trades hands so many times, and the responsibilities of the 100 employees concentrate onto the shoulders of 8 so thoroughly that many things simply get buried under task lists.

I'm not sure what leadership looks like over at Behavior, maybe it's best we don't know for everyone's sakes - but here are the three most important things that we have to remember:

    1.) Behavior is a company

2.) A lot of these problems can be solved

3.) The people who work on the game LOVE the game.

I really hope that they can find their footing and continue to enhance the Dead By Daylight experience, learning from past mistakes and paying mind as to avoid such pitfalls in the future.

While I share the community's worries that the game may fall out of grace - the knowledge that such an instance is completely avoidable is enough to know that there are good people inside of the company that see what we see, and likely are trying as hard as they can to get where they need to be to make those changes for US to enjoy.

Hi Valik, if you really think they love the game, they would've communicated with the community alot alot better.

Just take a look at the most recent Dev Q&A. The lead dev himself don't even understand DBD at all. "Comparing it with Hockey"

Here. Have a video that I randomly picked when I searched for "DBD Dev"

This is not the only video from DBD influencers.

    https://youtu.be/Pw-7AiHhgkk

The grin is so telling, he isn't even trying to hide it - he knows people will be pissed and he is reveling in it. These devs just hate their community.

  • The game is supposed to be killer bullys survivor. not the other way around. BHVR should really get their facts right.

  • killer = 1

    survivor = 4

4 players happy but 1 unhappy

    1 player quit game

    That's what happening now

  • Only 3k on PC. more if include console

Quite honestly I have been thinking of leaving. I killer main and since the mmr challenge ever single game I have gotten has been nothing but sweat. Gens are being done at an alarming rate. I don't expect or want easy games but getting completely rolled every game no matter what map pressure isn't fun either. Full thana and 1 penti stack doesn't even slow down the gens enough.

    It simply isn't fun

harsh but true. i down a survivor on the first 20 second and the 1st generator is done. another generator proc my tinker so :/

  • agreed as pyramid head. Can even bypass DS from its power

  • image.png

Just started the game again. matched with players like this with Dead hard Self Care Borrowed time and Decisive Strike x4 then teabag me nonstop. I'm done :(

Thanks for all the replys. Hope you all have a good day

  • image.png

here's an example. I got devour hope 5 stack and mori everyone. My grade progress is still 0 because chases stopped halfway when I'm breaking blockers and I didn't hook. What makes me wanna play killer when everyone just DS DH and such? I got to resort to exposed to avoid them healing each other with circle and such while can't DH if they are not injured.

Pretty sure you're not alone when you see the number of killers :p

I said that if one of the best players can get 4ks with every single killer without perks, add ons and giving survivors a head start, then the top players can also do the same with meta perks, addons and without giving players a head start.

I know some killers are weaker than other killers but the differences between the killers is not as massive as everyone is saying. (Except for Nurse who is horribly broken). Someone who is a great player and plays Trapper constantly will be able to get 4ks at the highest MMR with Trapper, it's a proven fact.

It's not the killer that's that determines if a player can get to the highest MMR in this game, it's the player's own skill. Not everyone is not in the top 1% of players in this game. It just isn't going to happen. There are people that are faster, hear better, think quicker and just have skills that make them the best players in DBD.

No amount of playing this game is going to make you better than these people.

    image.png

Yeah. do let me know how fair it is for someone who just started the game against all this perks.

There's a reason why everyone is running all those perks instead of something else.

Tbh, tier lists are subjective. There's only 3 Killers almost everyone agrees with, those being Nurse, Blight and Spirit

Watch. someone will just say a streamer name can do it on their stream then the rest of the killers got to play like them.

  • And those survivors says that they need it. It is up to the point where every killer predicting that every survivor have deadhard before attacking

watching dev play dbd is alot more entertaining

  • Those who said survivor need alot should really play killer

  • no more double bloodpoint~ gives you xp instead

  • Ask the dev to play their own game

its not fun for survivors aswell....nobody seems to wonder how strange it is that killers always face swf's, and survivors are stomped by the most sweaty killers who camp and tunnel non stop.....i just dont believe i'm always facing players anymore, as a killer or as a survivor....AI is way further then allong tthen we think, and in tthe mean while we keep attacking eachother about our toxic gameplay....the one i never see in my games....and ironicly the news about so called hackers comes out that are just out to ruin your game.....cause thats what you do as a hacker.

Sorry. Having difficulty understanding you. If neither side is having fun, maybe that's why the player count is dropping and BHVR is not doing anything to address it?

  • Further nerfs on Killers while buffing survivor will just kill the game instantly ^^

Chases from both sides are my favourite aspect of the game (well with the exception of my Head On/Deception plays when playing survivor). I don't really enjoy hide n seek and searching for players to chase, I like to get into chases quickly which is probably why I like information perks a lot.

A lot of players love the hide n seek aspect as well though - I think that's what's been so popular about DbD, there is such a variety of playstyles.

    There's variety of playstyles!?

  • Most like Grind nonstop for new players.

  • Yeah. Map needs to be reworked. totem for killers will be gone under 1 minute. i bet BHVR only play survivor

  • They looked. that's all

  • image.png

Hey man. it's balanced. what are you talking about?

  • End of the day, DH is being used by almost every survivor for a reason.
