Use STBFL or Forced Penance and body blocks can be massively punished

Great advice! Thank you! I mostly play demo and Nemi so it is really nice to have some advice on how to play M1 killers.

I hope you're mentally okay but this title is hilarious

I’m fine now, honestly just needed a nights sleep to get over it.

Glad you like the title btw, took me 5 minutes to come up with it lol.

This is why I am happy I am on console nowadays due to ingame chat not being a thing competitive people can often be quite toxic I really hope if you are a pc player that you din't have this. Especially since you were playing Pig and just trying to have some fun.

I play a bit of both. The survivors weren’t very toxic either, I was just kinda sad I lost all of my progress in one outplay.

I agree with you btw, really nice to not have the post game chat lol.

  • @Dreamnomad said:

What exactly do you want? A shoulder to cry on? Some kind of change to the game?

I was just depressed and wanted somewhere to write it out.

In all honesty I think MFT should be nerfed but from what the devs are saying I think it is kinda futile.

understandable. maybe consider taking a break? I heard tcm is still very chill and casual.

it could just be a matchmaking issue. and even then, not a skill issue. You are not required to be an expert in a game to want a fun match where you can win with your current abilities.

Yeah, I just really like the premise of the game and it is fun. The game just feels so competitive now that you can’t go into a match normally and expect to get anywhere.

Thank you for the kind words though! I think I’m gonna try going into matches and just focus on fun chases rather than winning.

Dbd is super competitive now I miss when it was just casual and fun.

Yeah, it was a lot more fun when people were able to just goof around with random perks and killers.

Don’t get me started on how much fun it was to goof around with survivors and take a break from the chases to do random stuff. I vividly remember running the bar as a killer on Ormond and having all 4 survivors coming over to grab a drink rather than rush gens. I know it’s not a part of the game but it used to be so fun when it was stress free.

  • @Alice_pbg said:

they still are all kind of viable, assuming you do not find the best players around a lot.

how did the game end? got some sacrifices? some head pops?

and just to point it out, I'll bodyblock mid chase as a solo survivor. sometimes it happens on a particularly dire moment for the other survivor. it's not necessarily an indicative of a swf.

Was a SWF, they were very coordinated and I have played enough to tell the difference. I just went in a corner and slapped a tree. I know it wasn’t the best thing to do but I was frustrated and tired.

I know it’s probably just a skill issue but I work full time and don’t have the time to get really good. It just makes me kinda sad that I can’t play casually anymore if I want more than a possible 1k.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

Sounds like you got outplayed it happens. Hey at least you had a fun chase though that’s all you can really ask for In dbd.

I did get outplayed. It sucks too because it would probably have taken me 2 more minutes to catch the injured survivor even looping really efficiently.

  • Has anyone noticed that MTF is basically infinite DH for distance? I try really hard to get my pathing perfect as a console player and the survivor still makes the window every time they are injured ;_;

The difference is that prior distance created by DH afflicted exaustion so it only had limited use. MFT means you can gain extra distance infinitely unless you decide to run an extra exaustion perk to make the killer cry.

I think having the speed for a limited time would be much better. Get hit and MFT activates for 30 seconds until healed and hit again or something like that.

    1. Reached the Startup Screen on PS5 where it said press X to start
    2. Error message about connecting to the store came up stating "Your available contents cannot be confirmed"

My gamer tag on PS5 is CarbonaraCharlie

  • I was playing quite a lot on killers I was less comfortable on as well. My MMR was also really high from when I was last playing about a year ago

Nurse aint gonna change that bud. Could you maybe record one of those matches? I learned that it helps getting better at Killer (and surv tbh) to watch yourself afterwards.

U should also ask urself a few questions during the game. Is this surv worth chasing? Is this gen worth pressuring? Who is the weakest link? Shouldn’t I have killed a surv by now?

things like that help during ur matches

Thanks for the good advice! I have gotten a lot better already and I plan to keep improving as much as I can!

Are you trying to say this guy was getting carried by old cob and eruption? Plain and simple if you lose 20 games in a row you are not good at the game. In all my years of playing this game I have come nowhere close to losing 20 games in a row. I am not some pro killer or anything, its just that losing that many games basically means your a baby killer who is still getting spun.

Yeah, sucked about a month ago and now I have about an 80% win rate with Nemisis lol. I think MMR just got the best of me because I used to be a sweat about a year ago then I took a break and came back facing really strong survivors XD

  • @VirtuaTyKing said:

Got to admit watching probably noobs playing killer and camping yet winning.

Barely any effort but they get the win some of the time.

Pretty lame when you play in a more fun way yet it's to your disadvantage.

Ikr, wish there was some way to reward the non camping killer for playing fair

I'm so beyond sick of perks like Infectious Fright/Forced Hesitation/etc. encouraging a playstyle of leaving survivors on the ground to just sit there until someone else picks them up or the killer bleeds them out.

BHVR I am sincerely hoping you see this and realize how unfun it is to be left on the ground for 4 minutes straight and not be able to do anything about it other than recover and crawl. Slugging is basekit for killers, I should not have to run Unbreakable and/or other perks to counter being LEFT ON THE GROUND FOR FOUR MINUTES doing absolutely nothing. Give us at least one free pick up per game or add a free pick up to Tenacity or SOMETHING.

Maybe we should add an option for a downed survivor to put themself on a hook XD

  • @Phantom_ said:

Instead of focusing on winning try to learn your killers better. Switch up your perks, your playstyle, and learn what works best for you and your games.

Maybe focus on certain aspects of the game first, try to get better at those, then work on getting 3-4Ks.

    Thanks for the great advice!

  • @nars said:

Its ridiculous to me that we're adding dc bots and acting like the penalty is still fine. It needs to be LONGER. The killer doesnt want to play VS bots, they queued to play humans. Its 0 fun outplaying a bot knowing their just programmed to fall for it.

dc penalty should be 10mins base. Then 30mins, then 60 etc etc.

if you are not ragequitting there is 0 reason a 10 minute penalty will outlast whatever needs your attention.

I would agree with you but players who genuinely lose connection to their WIFI would be punished for something they really couldn't control. Maybe the increased DC penalty should only count if players press the quit button

If you think your streak of bad luck ends after 20 matches with Nurse, then you gonna have a bad time.

True, gave up after 1 and learned Nemisis instead lol

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/383064/okay-thats-it-im-learning-how-to-play-nurse

Nurse isnt the solution BTW, since you will find out after learning her that many survivors using subtle and not so subtle cheats so you will be griefed a lot.

Example: you slug the survivors about to hook one and you can't game throws you out, or a survivor teabags you before getting down suddenly you see server thrown you out, or every gen is done instantly at the start of the game, or someone recover alone without unbreakable etc etc.

Yikes, didn't know those existed o.o

Glad I learned Nemisis instead XD

In my 3400 hours I have never even come close to losing 20 games in a row. I think the highest I got was 6-7 when I was brand new and trying to play Pyramid Head. I don't know how people can lack the self awareness to realize that they just aren't very good. If you're losing 20 games in a row on normal killers then you're going to get destroyed as nurse.

Well I know I suck, guess that is a step in the right direction XD. Truth is I started up again after a year long break and that is how I got the losing streak. Just really wish there was a better way to practice each killer without getting tbagged at the gate every time XD

  • @CatnipLove said:

Nurse's skill floor is overstated. It takes a while to get used to her blink ranges but it's not that bad. I played Nurse after hearing about how you needed 100 hours before you could even compete against mediocre survivors, but after a few hours I had a feel for her blink ranges and the second blink helped cover for mistakes I made with my initial blink. Once you get her blink ranges down you can go on to ignore the hardest part of the game which is looping.

As awful as she is to play against, I can see why people use her. She is a lot of fun. Blinking around the map feels great. Much more than getting in range and doing an M1.

Although picking Nurse won't fix a 20 losing streak. That requires hard liqueur.

Yeah, she really does take a lot to get used to. I actually used to play her and got to the point where I was able to 4k every game. Then I decided to take a break for a year and now I suck at all killers again lol

So if I stand still as killer for 100 games resulting in 100 losses it's a balance issue by your logic.

No, just no. Both sided should earn their wins. If you are bad you should lose every single game until MMR puts you against players that are at your skill level resulting in even matches.

Yeah, I agree with you that both sides should earn their wins. I also think the game could be better balanced though. You can tell which side is stronger at any point by which side gets the bloodpoint bonus at night and the killers always have the bonus XD

  • @th3 said:

Or maybe after 20 games of just losing, you maybe aren't that good. Best of luck with nurse tho

Yeah, I'm not that good lol. Kinda comes with the 20 game losing streak. Thought it might be MMR but I saw they removed it so I don't even know any more XD

I think it should be an item we can find on the stage like in f13. Not base

I agree to an extent, but overuse of DS was one of the issues that caused the last update.I think the steps taken with BT after unhook was a positive change.Tunneling and camping are two words thrown about to lightly imo,I agree it is both frustrating while sucking the fun out the game but then so are survivor elements like body blocking, swf gen rushing etc. There are other perks that get round the DS nerf, coconut has a good video posted on you tube explaining it far better than I would ever attempt to.I think the truth is DS as it was is gone and personally as someone who plays both survivor and killer believe the game is better for it.

I agree with you that the game is much better now that DS has been nerfed to the ground. As a killer main, I hated it when survivors would use it at the gate then tbag in my face afterwards.

I don't necessarily want to implement a really strong basekit version of DS. I just want to implement something that really punishes people who actively try to camp or tunnel so that it makes it less rewarding. Thats why I think adding a weaker basekit DS on top of basekit BT might discourage camping or tunneling to the extent where the game will be better for it!

  • They could, you are right! I just think the idea of basekit DS would stop camping and tunneling killers from camping or tunneling as much, or at least make it harder. If basekit DS was balanced right, killers playing the game fairly wouldn't even notice it existed.

  • I'm a killer main too and I don't think it should be addressed. If survivors want to be toxic, just face camp them and let the other survivors go to mock them XD

Im just thinking of a way to make it not redundant to actually bring DS without over buffing it back to oppressive levels. Kinda like they can't make basekit BT too long without making the perk completely worthless/redundant.

Yeah, thinking of a buff for normal DS would definitely be painful XD

It would definitely require some more thought to make sure it was 100% balanced, but I just wanted to get the idea out there!

  • @Carth said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3112211#Comment_3112211

That's a terrible trade and assuming BT is in play(what any good SWF will have 2 of and establish who is ssaving who?) Do I magically wait 15 seconds and get an auto down? Unhooking is intended to be a strategic play, not divebomb the hook and save your teammate without sacrificing anything, also unbreakable completely changes this formula

I understand that unhooking is supposed to be a strategic play and I agree that it should stay this way. The basekit DS would just make it harder for tunneling killers or campers to make progress on one survivor. It honestly shouldn't be noticeable for anyone who plays without tunneling.

  • @Carth said:

What I don't like about it is it makes bodyblocking insanely strong. Get unhooked? why WOULDNT you body block for the unhooker? You have 5 seconds BT + a free 1 min DS? bodyblocking should be an extremely calculated play not lol I get 2 free health states + a stun and chase reset off the hook.

I thought about that as well and I think body blocking would be strong, but wouldn't neccesarily be the best move on the survivor's part. Given that the survivor would have to be down on the floor and that the killer would know about the basekit DS, they could just leave the slugged survivor and move on to the next survivor without losing much pressure. I think being slugged and unable to do anything would make it so survivors would not want to take the second hit.

Unbreakable might cause the killer to lose a bit of pressure due to this but they would have to use their only charge to pick themselves up meaning there would still be a trade off.

  • @JHondo said:

    It's a bit overtuned imo.

Make it base 30 seconds, no added time if downed. A slugged survivor is just as much pressure for a killer as a hooked one and people complain enough about being slugged.

Make it 3 secs for basekit and buff the DS perk back up to 5

Yeah, that sounds fair! The boost in time was just a thought to really make sure there was no tunneling, but 30 seconds as it is will still slow down the killer quite a bit!

I might keep the 5 second stun on the basekit just because it better decentivizes tunneling, but I think 3 seconds could work as well, just anything to make it harder to focus down one survivor!

  • @TheKissKing said:

i dont mind but killers may or may not need a buff to balance that. Eg: kicking a gen now insta regresses 5% instead of 2.5%

Yeah, balancing to go along with this would definitely be a good idea! I just feel so bad for survivors now because even though I don't plan to tunnel them, most of the survivors kill themselves on first hook o.o

  • As a killer, it's more satisfying when I get to kill these bully squads after they try to abuse perks like head on lol

  • I just hope that it is slightly easier to navigate XD

Moving around in RPD when you don't have the ability to teleport was really confusing.
