Bring back Pain Res revealing survivors on the exploded gen. It was taken away for providing too much information constantly, now it's not constant anymore.
-
Pain ressonance - It looks healthier, but if you are going to restrict its uses, buff its effect, maybe bring back the screaming auras or buff the progression loss a bit
Agreed on this, bring back the scream bubbles since it'll only happen 4 times a match.
CoH - great that it shows auras to compensate, but since it's not broken anymore, please buff boon range
I'm also strongly agreed on this, they can make all Boons 32 meters now that they aren't held back by CoH's excessive strength.
-
this game will turn into a hide-and-seek game, the survivors will hide from the killer for the whole game, because there will be no more last chance perks for them
You know that's what this game was supposed to be in the first place, right? This could be a return to form and I'm happy for it.
-
Finally, injuring survivors will actually mean something again.
-
The Dead Hard change is great for the game. Now it has to be earned, can't be used at the start of the game, and it has a hard cap on how many times it can be used in a match by the whole team. I also like the flimsy excuse of "It will encourage tunneling!" like Dead Hard somehow stopped that from happening before. No, it didn't. Hitting the unhooked survivor is exactly the same as it was before.
Besides, Dead Hard has "lots of counterplay" so chasing the unhooking survivor and downing them should be so easy that killers won't choose to tunnel instead, right?
-
Maybe the unhooker should be the one bodyblocking the killer instead, for once.
-
Don't pretend you're the community, many people in this community have requested exactly these changes. You ask what the point is, the point is balance. Plenty of people play this game just fine without using Dead Hard, Circle of Healing, and Medkits. If you can't, maybe you were just using them as crutches.

over committing the first chase
you are giving 1 survivor the available resources meant to be distributed amongst all 4 of them. These gens dont pop instantly either, theyre a minute and a half
A minute and a half at base. Account for toolboxes, Brand New Parts, and perks.
Let's say it takes the killer roughly 30 seconds to find a survivor from the start of the match, if they're lucky, or 1 minute if they're not. They then chase that survivor for 2 minutes because there's pallets and loops everywhere ready to go so getting a quick and easy down isn't feasible outside of severe survivor error. 3 generators are lost in this time.
If that's over-committing, then I'll admit I have no idea how killer is supposed to be played. But however it is supposed to be played, it doesn't sound fun to me.

-"DH is the most unfun perk to go against for the killer side"
The "O" word you are looking for is overtuned.
-"Literally, no perk has this amount of impact on the game"
What people don't realize is that extending a chase by 20 seconds gives the enemy team 60 seconds of time. Where's the killer perk that undoes 60 seconds of work on a generator by pressing E?
Better yet, where's the killer perk that every survivor must be paranoid about encountering the entire match in every single match they play, and actively skews their playstyle because they have to be constantly prepared to play around it?

In like 99% of cases, if you're "forced" to tunnel its because you made mistakes that lead you there
So when three generators pop in three minutes while the killer chases the first survivor they found in the match, what mistake did the killer make?
-
How about this: after hooking a survivor, the perk activates. The next time a survivor attempts to drop a pallet within your terror radius, the pallet is immediately blocked for 30 seconds and the perk deactivates.

Tbf DS didn’t ‘frighten killers’ or whatever you’re on about. The kill rate before its last nerf was like 53% which means the majority of killer players were averaging a 2-3K. The counterplay to DS really was just leaving the survivor slugged and even that had good pressure because unless survivors were pairing DS with unbreakable, they would need help to recover, which meant at least two survivors weren’t on gens. I don’t think DS has been monumental as a perk since its first nerf.
The counterplay to DS really was just leaving the survivor slugged
What do people think would happen if basekit DS was added? I thought people complained enough about slugging, let's add a reason to do it to everyone. Let me guess, then add basekit Unbreakable so that the slugging doesn't work anymore? Then what?

If there's one thing we don't need back, it's the meta of everyone running DS and then baiting killers into attacking them just so they can use the stun. Every single new tool you give survivors is immediately abused in the most annoying ways possible.
Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.
If you fall for that trick more than once, you are the one making a mistake and you deserve to get punished for it. If someone tries to DS bait you, just leave them slugged and they lose more than they gain. DS was not abusable opposite a competent killer. I've only been hit by DS -once-, and it was 100% my own fault.
The only argument you -could- make is that bodyblocking with DS should be removed, which I would fully support.

The fact that DS made killers afraid of downing a survivor and attempting to hook them, the most basic gameplay loop of killer, says a lot about how stupid a perk DS was and what kind of garbage gameplay it resulted in. If that's what's being defended, then I'm glad DS is dead. Good riddance.

Oh yes, basekit Myers needs a buff. BUT the concept of having completely different playstyles for the same killer is something amazing.
In an ideal game, every killer would have that.

Nobody knows what Chris actually looks like. He was consistent between Resident Evil 1 and Code Veronica but after Resident Evil 5, his faces changes in every game and movie he appears in. Remember the RE7 DLC? People legitimately thought someone was impersonating Chris because his model looked nothing like he did in RE5 and 6. And then he looked different again in RE8.

Should Claw Trap time be increased and the Haste buff increased?

You want the worst perk in the entire game?
CORRECTIVE ACTION
Not only it has an extremely minor, barely noticeable effect. Not only it is the definition of a very situational perk.
On top of that is TOKEN BASED.
my god
Corrective Action really should work in a radius like Leader does. Prevent all allies from failing skillchecks just by being near them. Then it would actually be functional; it might be a function not many people would want, but it would at least work decently for the people who DO want it. Also make it start at the max 5 tokens.

Not true I will rarely give up on a match especially in bronze/silver because I can lose convincingly and still safety pip, I am much more likely to give up in gold/iri because I know if I lose convincingly I will depip for sure, so there is no point in trying and Im better off trying to move on to the next match as fast as possible.
So depipping can make you more likely to give up and exit the game?
Sounds like even more reason to remove it then.

How is basekit DS a problem? It was the most well-tailored perk. The only thing that could improve on it is removing collision with the killer while it's active.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3377894#Comment_3377894
Doesn't have to be just BHVR though. They do sometimes take suggestions from forums. They took a pretty ambitious one of mine, so we can all just brainstorm together about possible solutions.

The problem with "fixing tunneling" is that sometimes the killer doesn't have another choice, because they either just can't find another survivor or the "tunneled" is actively seeking the killer's attention. What should they do, just ignore the guy who keeps getting in their face with a flashlight no matter what? I will never accept any "solution" that punishes innocent players. If someone is unhooked and they immediately get in my way while their teammate flees in the other direction, I do not deserve punishment for downing the unhooked again for their stupid play. I had a killer game a few days ago where a Kate kept unhooking teammates then using Sprint Burst to run away, leaving the unhooked with me as the closest and most convenient target. Am I supposed to be punished for that Kate's bad playing? Was I supposed to follow the imaginary Survivor Rulebook and do the obviously bad move of chasing someone who was already halfway across the map?
Tunneling is a valid aspect of this game and doesn't need to be "fixed". Disincentivized, sure, but not eliminated, because there are times where it is a perfectly reasonable thing to do.

Okay but you're getting an equivalent currency to $5 for the game's store. The hat is just an incentive. If you were going to purchase auric cells anyway then you get a nice little bonus.
"just an incentive" is a good, clean, friendly, sanitized way to describe a lot of exploitative practices. I don't buy it, both figuratively and literally.
-
It's actually 3%, 5%, 6%, and 7% Haste. In another thread I suggested bumping it up to 5%, 8%, 10%, 12% to make it feel more impactful but I'm not confident it needs that buff just yet.
I'm going to wait a few days and see how the game goes before deciding if her lockdown has been nerfed to an acceptable level. Guarding a 3-gen was never going to be completely removed, it just needed to be weakened enough that survivors could bust through it with enough effort.

Simple question.
Do you think the game would be healthier and more fun for both sides if:
- The game wasn't a massive snowball for either side
- Tunneling wasn't possible.
- Camping wasn't possible.
- Killers didn't feel like "gen rushing" existed.
- Both sides have fun when they win OR lose.
- The game didn't actively encourage you to play in unfun ways in order to win.
- The killer didn't always lose 3 gens in the first chase
- We deal with problematic and unfun killer addons/killers/strategies (tombstone myers?, forever pig?)
Because if the answer is yes, then it doesn't matter if you believe BHVR can do it, its a matter of if it SHOULD be done. And if so, then i think it is worth pursuing.
There's a lot of problems in this game that I'd like addressed, but I try to stay practical and realistic about it. I don't think there's anything we can do for camping and tunneling that would solve the problem without causing more problems. It will always be a thing so long as it's possible to do, and I can't think of a way to make it impossible that wouldn't wreck the killers' experience and/or be weaponized by survivors.
-
Greed, mostly.

@Reinami said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3377884#Comment_3377884
The point is that you balance the game around it literally not being possible. You are thinking about the current game state, and just "remove tunneling" but i'm saying you completely make it impossible from a game mechanic perspective, then balance the game around that idea. I'd argue do the same with camping too.
That's putting a lot of trust in BHVR to do an extreme rework of their game and rebalance it without breaking something/everything.
-
@Reinami said:

What if you did what that person suggested, and then made tunneling impossible from a game mechanics perspective?
Doing so would probably break the game as survivors would inevitably find a way to exploit it.
-
On one hand, it's just a dumb hat, so I can't take it very seriously. On the other hand, it's just a dumb hat, and they're expecting me to spend $5 to get it? No way. And on yet another hand, I'm glad it's just a dumb hat instead of something actually good, because then I'd really be annoyed about time-gated cosmetics being a thing. But I'd prefer it not be a thing at all.

Why? The last time killers claimed that tunneling would go down if gen times would go up. Gen times did go up, and killers tunneled even more, because they simply have more time to gain now. What would be different with another objective, unless its a killer objective?
Gen times went up yet there's still matches where three or even four generators all get completed in the first four minutes, so you're right in the sense it didn't change anything at all.

Killer: Ghost Face, Legion, and Myers because I appreciate the simplicity of being a creepy dude who stabs you with a knife, though Legion is a lot louder about it. I enjoy Wesker because his power is very satisfying to use, even if I'm bad at using it, and his smarmy nasally taunts are great. I also enjoy Dredge because I think his design is really cool and while his power is a little awkward, Nightfall is satisfying to hunt survivors in. And finally, Pig, because I like forcing traps on people's heads that put pressure on them, give them a serious problem to deal with while I run around messing with everyone. I wish she would get some buffs one of these days so I could feel better about playing her.
Survivor: Jeff because I'm also into rock music, though not as much of a metalhead, and I think his humble personality is sympathetic and relatable. I also like Adam because he has a nice style and just seems like a respectable kind of guy, I want to buy all his yellow cosmetics so I can swap jackets whenever I want. I'm also a fan of Yun-Jun because her being more self-centered and pragmatic makes her stand out compared to other survivors, who are sometimes sound too goody-goody and idealistic for me to take seriously. I also like Ace just for being a cool older dude, and gamblers are fun characters. Finally I plan on getting Zarina eventually because I like honest and courageous reporter characters.
Sadly the survivors I like don't have many cosmetics I do like, so I'll always be a little limited in appearance options. I like Yun-Jin's character but her fashion is ridiculous, and Ace's cosmetics are... definitely something.

There are a wide range of info/detection perks with which to locate survivors. Unfortunately it requires losing one of your four slowdown perks.
How many of those function after hooking a survivor and needing to find a new one to chase? BBQ & Chili, maybe Discordance, what else?
-
The game gets stale and attempts to make it unstale have tended to just make it worse, i.e. the "meta shake-up" that tossed out a bunch of fun and healthy perks and brought in a bunch of frustrating and unhealthy perks.
Combine this with a constantly growing number of killers that are in serious need of tweaks, adjustments, add-on passes, and buffs yet are ignored by BHVR.

I don't want to be punished for survivors playing ring-around-the-rosie on the hooked teammate. No.

I agree, but I do think her haste should be buffed to 4/6/8/10%. I understand that at max stacks this will make her fast, but I do think the m1 killer should get that buff for when all survivors are tracked or all her drones are gone. It would make her a bit more viable and add fuel to that "pick your poison" playstyle.
She will almost never get max stacks, it's why the Haste effect as it currently is is frontloaded. If you want to increase it, it should be 5/8/10/12%.

I really just dont understand the hate Scott still gets. At the time, yeah, it stung really bad. But he apologized, gave us a rather decent explanation, and somewhat gave the series to Steelwool. As an LGBT person, I can forgive Scott for what he did. He's donated to the Trevor project and other amazing charities, which in my opinion outweighs what he got doxxed over.
Relating for the chapter, I just cant see Springtrap running around Badham chasing an e-girl wearing bunny ears. Maybe if it was actually just William as a human, I could get behind it.
Agreed on both points. The only way I see FNAF working at all is just a skin for Ghost Face that puts him in a bunny costume so you can pretend to be William Afton. Or get one of the Robbie costumes for Legion and pretend it's from FNAF instead of Silent Hill.
Though I have to admit, if they could somehow make a map out of a crappy children's pizzeria, that could be fun. You can have the animatronics spawn in random places on the map every match and act creepy. The only issue is size, pizzeria's aren't that big.

Well to be fair, you get 2.000.000 BP every month when you have both sites on rank 1. That's more than every code can offer. Besides, they made the whole bloodweb cheaper also. All in all you get much more anyway. I am personally pretty glad not to get flooded with a lot more BP's because the spend time is so huge.
Grinding to Rank 1 in both roles every month is an exhausting pain in the ass. And maybe you have enough points, but I'm a newer player who has dozens of characters that still need millions of points. If you don't want codes, then don't use them, but I'd sure like to.
And if you ask me, BHVR should be handing out both BP and Iri Shards, because this grind they'd built is abysmal.

I don't get how you fake a dead hard. That might be overthinking it.
If a survivor catches on that a killer doesn't fall for easy Dead Hard baits, they can start faking it to psych the killer out. Many survivors will suddenly change directly towards the killer mid-chase to make them swing on impulse and Dead Hard, but if the killer isn't falling for that, they'll start juking towards the killer but not Dead Harding at all. They'll do this repeatedly until one of them makes the wrong call and loses the stand-off. I see it happen a lot in killer gameplay streams and videos, maybe you should try watching them.

Tattered Tabard is good if you like putting your guards next to a gen that has been kicked with Overcharge or CoB.
Pillaged Mead lets you break pallets nearly instantly with Carnifex. If you don't think that's good, you are crazy.
Map of the Realm is good for obvious reasons.
=
Treated Blade, Cold Steel Manacles, and Battle Axe Head are all good for obvious reasons. They let you use your preferred guard more often.
Dried Horsemeat gets you more hits with guards.
Call to Arms makes it easier to get jumpscare hits with your guards.
=
Town Watch's Torch and Ironworker's Tongs are gimmicky, but usable.
Broken Hilt is free slowdown if your guards hit someone, but just getting chased by the guard is usually enough slowdown.
=
Lightweight Greaves are difficult to make work, but should be strong in theory.
Healing Poultice is Infectious Fright on command.
Blacksmith's Hammer lets you tie up a chase if the survivor held W to outrun you and your guard.
=
Knight's Contract is easily abused by dropping guards and hitting them to disperse them.
Iridescent Company Banner blocks off windows and blocks exit gates. It's Bamboozle, but you can block multiple windows for a very large amount of time. 15-27 seconds with Jailer and Assassin, 15-39 seconds with Carnifex. Blocking off exit gates just turns into a free kill most of the time, so yeah, obviously a good add-on.
Tattered Tabard is good if you like putting your guards next to a gen that has been kicked with Overcharge or CoB.
Pillaged Mead lets you break pallets nearly instantly with Carnifex. If you don't think that's good, you are crazy.
The first is the most boring use of his guards, and the additional 6 seconds can make his power harder to use in every other context.
Carnifex already breaks pallets nearly instantly at base, buffing that speed is unnoticeable.
Town Watch's Torch and Ironworker's Tongs are gimmicky, but usable.
Unusable. Your power failing to hurt someone three times is just a waste of your power, and if a survivor escapes a Hunt then you're either already chasing after them or they're on the other side of the map, Oblivious does nothing in either case.
Broken Hilt is free slowdown if your guards hit someone, but just getting chased by the guard is usually enough slowdown.
Or I could just use Sloppy Butcher or Gift of Pain and get much more consistent results without wasting an add-on slot on the Hilt or Chainmail.
Knight's Contract is easily abused by dropping guards and hitting them to disperse them.
The Exposed only lasts 8 seconds and it only applies to every fourth guard, I'm wasting a lot of time on this clunky set-up for an Exposed hit that probably won't happen because it lasts so short.

Again, using the power is so clunky that squeezing the line through windows while chasing a survivor is just a waste of time, especially since most survivors know to just leave the tile when you start. And since holding W is how you escape a guard, blocking vaults behind them accomplishes nothing most of the time. And on top of all that is an ability that only works when I've already lost the game? Wow, incredible add-on.

The animatronics are nowhere near scary when you take them out of dark dingy corridors seen through grainy security cameras and instead put them in an environment where they can't just jumpscare you.

Dead by Daylight sells itself as a game where you can play the big bad horror monster man and kill people. Not a lot of games offer that experience, so new players buy into it thinking they're going to be tough and intimidating and have fun running around stabbing people with a machete, while the survivors are helpless lemmings who have to scrape their way through their disadvantages to win.
This is not true, but that's how it looks from the outside looking in. Then they get in and learn what it's really like.

You just have to power through it and learn from people that are better than you.
