There’s my personal list
I'm glad I'm not the only one who hates facing Pig
-
Good for new players
Good for experiencer and veteran players
Countering stealth has very few options (apart from being hyper aware of your surroundings and the different tells each killer has). It also helps counter one of the strongest killer perks in the game right now (Tinkerer if you were wondering)
-
For survivor: 'We'll make it'. Doubling your healing speed for 90 seconds is amazing and it helps keep the pressure on the killer because if they decide to return to the hook, now both people are healthy. Tunnelling often occurs when killers see the injured person as being the easier target so We'll make it is a massive thorn in that.
It also counters sloppy butcher. Who doesn't love that
For killer: The obvious answer is BBQ for obvious reasons. Whispers is also a close contender because it's constantly feeding your information where people are and more importantly are not.
-
I like using Surge on Legion too, not on its own though
People being injured a lot means it gets a lot of value, it's a shame surge can be a bit map dependant though
It's god tier on some maps and garbage on others
-
Blight could've had a map in the Crotus Penn realm, I think that would've been a given
Twins probably could've had a map in the Red Forest Realm
Trickerster would've needed a new realm
Just disappointed that the last map we've gotten was Midwich - which isn't a bad map by any stretch but still.
-
The reason the devs make killers 110% (or slower, in Nurses case) is usually to off-set their power being strong in a chase. Huntress, Deathslinger, Huntress, Spirit are the prime examples. Their power shines mainly in chase.
Hag is the only exception, but her power isn't really for chasing, it's for map control which makes her slower speed make more sense.
110% isn't that much slower than 115% but in loops the difference is noticable
-
Would having Remember me reveal the auras of the non-obsession opening exit gates for a few seconds be a good change I wonder
I'm surprised no killer perk does this yet

Eh, definitely not impossible. There is plenty that could be done to up the fear-factor if they wanted but, the game is 4 years old, so, that kind of drastic change isn't gonna happen.
As far as the new Killer goes, I'm not mad but I am disappointed. No, DbD isn't really a "scary" game, so not every killer needs to fit that bill but this new one doesn't even try. So many other great original ideas they could have gone with that get posted here every day. Oh well, it is what it is.
Honestly I feel like his design could work if his power actually reflected his apperance and character
It seems like so much work went into the backstory, only for him to be a dude who throws knives at people. Really? That's the best they could come up with for someone with such a backstory? It's underwhelming imo.
I hope I'm not out of line by saying this, but it feels like the power wasn't made for the character. I think people said the same about Blight when he came out too but I've since warmed up to him and really appreciate him, even if it's taken nearly three whole chapters for him to actually be in the state he should've been on launch.

Happens with Hillbilly as well
I believe this is an old bug that has returned, somehow

Look, it's okay to not like a character. I support that.
But some of these reasons I see make me chuckle. I mean, you talk about how he doesn't look like a killer, and I'm reminded of Wednesday Adam's and Halloween costume of a homicidal maniac... which was her normal outfit because "we look like everybody else"
Look, if you don't like how the character looks, that's fine. But to sit there and say "They don't like the character because they don't look like a killer" is laughable. You are either not sure why you don't like the look and am pulling something out of your ass or you're uncomfortable with the idea that we as human beings are monsters deep down and being reminded of that is scary.
I mean they slapped a bit of blood on his face/chest then called it a day, it looks like. Design wise I mean
Seems kinda lazy.
The voice acting stuff is kinda neat, even if a little over-the-top (All the grunts from things like falling, no other killer does that I don't think)
-
If you are dissatisfied (Which I imagine many people are) then do not purchase the chapter. It's as simple as that
I hope I'm not alone in saying the past three chapters have been underwhelming and disappointing. Blight only just reached the state he should've been in on release and the Twins were quite literally released unfinished. They still need work, if you ask me.
Couple that with the fact that we've now gone three chapters with no new maps is quite shocking. The reworks are great, I love the majority of them and I'm glad to see them but we haven't gotten a new actual map (or hell a map IN an established realm) since Pyramid head.
As for me, I think the theme of the chapter is very 'unfitting' and I don't mean that because it's not traditional horror as I feel like virtually anything can be horror if it's done right. The voice actor for the new killer has done a good job from what I've heard so far, so props.
The perks are nice and the killer's power seems 'meh'. I don't want to come across as cynical, this is just my honest thoughts.

Systems that alter the survivor coliision (without making them invincible) do already exist, namely around the basement (I THINK)
Something to do with the survivors collision (not hitbox) shrinking in certain areas or something along those lines.
Was made to stop people being permanently blocked in the basement I think, back when the basement entrances were slimmer.
Saw it on a dev stream some time a while ago, so could be easily outdated. Take with a grain of salt

I don't believe Legion is the worst if he's played well and you play to his strengths
He's one of the (if not THE) best anti-heal killers in the game, has some of the best anti-stealth and with the right build(s) a good legion can make the game hell for survivors. He basically can cut a chase in half by getting the first hit extremely quickly. I think survivors are more prone to messing up while they are injured.
That being said, his biggest weaknesses are survivors who don't heal and survivors who avoid each other like the plague (no pun intended). His power does nothing to help him in chase, that's a given.
Most survivors think he is boring to face, though. Mending isn't fun, neither is the killer stabbing you then going after someone else. Completely subjective though of course

A slight tweak that could be made to make BT slightly better while still maintaining the counterplay stealth killers have towards it, would be making it so it is based off of the 'Hooked' survivor being in the TR, instead of the unhooker
This mainly comes to mind because of Freddy, he can completely disable BT which makes him one of the best camping killers in the game but when someone is hooked they are instantly woken up, which means if this change were implemented, BT would work.
Also slightly related fun fact, I noticed that at one point they changed it so if you hit someone who had BT as freddy, it no longer puts them to sleep. I wonder if that was an intentional change or simply a happen-stance.

Please just change the 'Crimson Ceremony Book' addon
It is the most worthless purple addon I've ever seen.
Disfigured Ear, Butcher's hand and Stab wound study are more useful.
-
I think it's on every map, not just Midwich
I noticed this on a Coldwind map, Rancid Abbatoir to be specific.
-
As much as I enjoy the GhostFace from the scream films, BVHRs interpretation of the character is much different to that. DBD's ghostface is surprisngly competent given how he's basically serial killer spiderman - writing stories about himself, keeping evidence of his crimes with him and so on.
In terms of actual balance, Ghostface doesn't need a worse chase - If you reveal him and you're not marked - he is quite literally man with knife. Addonless ghostface is a pain, a 30 second cooldown inbetween power usages is a massive deal.
What Ghostface needs in my opinion is:
- A way to reduce the basekit cooldown in some way - I've seen suggestions of having it be a reward to have less cooldown by achieving marked stabs, sneak stabs and so on
- Better addons, he has four good ones (3 duration + 1 non lean stalk rate) and the rest are not worth using.
- His own chase music (Not a requirement but It'd be sick).
I don't know if this a controversial thing to say, but Ghostface is probably the best stealth-based killer out of the four (Myers, Pig, Wraith and Deathslinger) when it comes to actual STEALTH.
-
As stupid as this might sound, I heard that Myers initially had a sound cue for when he was nearly about to tier up (It was the 'Michael Kills Judith' stinger from the film)
I'd love to hear that in the game tbh
-
I believe he's taken the video down
Gonna hazard a guess it's because of many of the more heated comments. I know I saw a couple when I was reading and it's no secret Otz reads his comments more than people prolly think he does.
As someone who saw the match live, If I were in Otz's position to be brutally honest, I likely would have just quit to save myself further frustration. DBD can be tilting when people aren't going out of their way to be annoying afterall.

Thank you for acknowledging that your issue with her is frustration and not lack of counter play.
"The only issue I have with the fighting game comparison you made here, is that, again - both opponents can still see each other."
In a fighting game there is a back and forth. A mix up character is strongest when it's "their turn" and they are pressuring the opponent. In this case, it doesn't matter if the opponent can see the other guy or not, they have to preemptively counter them by predicting what mix up they will do. This is how Spirit is like a mix up character, because you have to analyze the situation and commit to an option for knowing what she was going to do. However, in most situations you will have at least 1 option that can counter every option she has at once and give you the highest probability to escape. It would be like if blocking in a fighter counter 3 of the potential mix ups that could be done, so now you only have to worry about him picking a 4th option that is maybe higher risk for him, but a lower chance he would take that option. I know that being able to counter 3 options at once doesn't make it a mix up really, but that's what can be done against Spirit.
I do like how you are approaching the subject and making the comparison to fighting games, they do have a lot more in common than one might think at first glance
In terms of having no counterplay - I'm of the opinion there is always something you can try to do against every killer. It's whether what that something is will have any impact on the chase. If you could give me a DBD example of what you mean with regards to "having 1 option to counter every option she has" that'd be neat if you have the time.
I'm curious to hear your take

Respectful opinion, I agree for the most part however even with stridor I can escape a chase I'd say just under half the time, it definitely makes it much harder to deal with her though.
Oh absolutely, it's not impossible to counter. I agree with you
I just don't know how I'm meant to improve and learn what to do against it, if that makes sense? Any play feels pointless when I know she has Stridor and will almost always know what I'm doing, pair that with the fact most Spirits run movement speed addons + use the power in short bursts, plays certainly feel impossible to make

Pallets and windows are still very strong against Spirit. Even with stridor, she has to guess which side you will be on. Against Nurse, your best friend is structures and LOS breakers, which force her to have to make wild guesses.
BTW, I'm not saying all killers should literally have their power, but other killers should have ways to make running/looping less effective.
Windows I agree can be strong against Spirit in certain tiles, however pallets against Nurse and Spirit are almost completely useless I think.
Nurse, for obvious reasons - she can ignore them completely
Against a spirit, playing a pallet isn't worth it if you're injured I think - she has too much information to know what you're doing (Especially if Stridor is in play)
I get what you're saying though, I think Pyramid Head/Freddy is about as strong as any killer needs to be but I don't have problems with Spirit or Nurse's powers existing.
-
In your ideal scenario where every killer is as strong as Spirit or Nurse, could I pose a question to you?
What do you think the actual point of things like Pallets and windows would be? If every killer can simply ignore them 80% of the time, what's their purpose?
-
Personally it's more of a frustration than a hatred of spirit for myself and that frustration usually only comes into play when the Spirit has Stridor. When I'm facing killers like Pyramid Head or Deathslinger - killers that people have also said they feel are unfair or boring, I don't have the same frustration.
The two factors that make spirit frustrating for me are:
- Stridor makes anything I try to do to throw off the Spirit or make any sort of play almost pointless. Without Iron will even when crouching you're still extremely loud and Iron will only slightly helps with it
- When I'm facing PH or Slinger, it might not be always possible to do something about their powers but at least I can physically see them and try to react to what they are doing (within reason, you can't really juke a Slinger with good aim but you can still SEE him)
The only issue I have with the fighting game comparison you made here, is that, again - both opponents can still see each other. In DBD you physically cannot see the spirit when she's in her power and the footstep noises would be a good way to know, if it wasn't for the loud chase music (and loud grunts of pain from Stridor lul)
I respect your viewpoint on the subject though.

I find it really silly that Surge is a demo perk that doesn't work with his shred. Killers and their perks aren't designed to synergise 100% but it's still silly that he can't get the best use out of his own perk.
If surge worked like infectious fright, the following things would be possible:
- Oni/Billy's/Bubba's powers will trigger it on a insta-down
- Huntress Hatchets, Plague's Corrupt Purge, Pig's dash, Demo's shred and PH's Punishment would trigger it
- Grabs of any kind would trigger it
- Special circumstances would trigger it in funny ways (Trapper with Honing Stone/Legion & Deepwound bleed out)
Maybe the developers think it would be a bit too oppressive/synergistic for Surge to trigger on all of these conditions, since I've heard Infectious Fright is a perk they've thought about nerfing in the past.
This also explains the Basic Attack nerf to Knock Out which is pretty funny to think about.
