Okay thats just a false statement, and you dont know whos in the exit gates or not.

Already gave multiple reasons as well as gameplay in this thread. And I just said you dont know whos in the gates or not, theres another reason.

You dont get a give up button just because you dont like the way a match is going. Thats not why the abandon feature was added for slugged survivors.

The abandon feature was added because it was most likely over for that side. When gates are opened and you know you had a bad game then I don't see any reasonable argument why the killer should not be able to abandon besides being petty.

Situation is completely different than 4 people on the floor. These are not comparable at all. Rest of the forum thread you have to go through illustrates several times why its not the same thing.

    But with your idea:
Okay so then whats stopping them from standing JUST outside of the gates and doing the same thing until you walk over?

    Personally.
Id just stick myself somewhere in the map and let the 3 others bag hard at the gate if your idea went through. Someones still in the map so you cant abandon, but the other 3 are still in your face with the control button causing emotional distress.

Both situations waste time for no reason and have nothing more each side can really do. Thats what's not different. There is NO good reason as to why a killer shouldn't be able to just abandon once the gates are open. If you can find somewhat of a reason then feel free to try and give one but there won't be. The ONLY thing I can think of is very slightly less BP.

  • Lithe, Overcome and Sprint Burst. I would gladly take a hit to like the top 5-10 killers for a nerf to those perks.

  • @ChuckingWong said:

No thanks, just push them out.

You have the power role here. Go break doors and pallets if you dont want to deal with it as well.

Yes please. The only scenarios this would be used in is scenarios where survivors are already IN the gates. When someones in the dying animation on hook and they linger in the match for the rest of the EGC timer not even doing anything. This situation is literally no different than the killer having 4 people on the floor. Why is there a double standard here?

  • A bit of a small correction but doesn't impact much until haste addons for PTB clown are brought in. 12% haste bottles makes clown 128.8% movement speed while with both haste addons you're running at Blood Lust 3 the entire match which is 132.25%. But yeah do we REALLY want a clown who's just incentivized to mindlessly throw yellow bottles at his feet to be the best play while gutting any depth the character has?

  • Killer induced and survivor induced.

Killer induced: Going after one guy multiple times off hook

Survivor induced: Intentionally running into my face with OTR, DS and DH post unhook.

so you agree with tunneling 1 person 3 times sounds like you are part of the problem you guys have plenty of perks to stop gens popping super fast we can only do so much when a killer refuses to chase anyone but 1 person ye we can take hits but they stipp go for 1 person

except when said perks are used they get complained about and nerfed.

  • "If you tunnel learn how to play better" thats the thing. Tunneling IS playing better. Going for multiple survivors is the most inefficient thing you can do.

Tunneling someone out of the game at 5 or 4 gens is extremely scummy. Dead by Daylight is a pvp horror party game, not the next competitive masterclass game where you have to try your absolute hardest to win every single game, and its incredibly disingenuous to act like it is. You are not incentivized to "be efficient", hell you are actively penalized for it if games end too fast, you get significantly less bp than if you don't kill a single survivor and just let them all escape after 8 hooks (I have tested it personally, average over double the BP just by having chases and kicking gens, then just rushing for a 4k every game). There is no incentive to win other than enjoyment of the game, you don't gain rank, you don't even gain more pips if you win specifically. The flawed mindset of "I need to win every game" will make you hate the game in of itself. You have to enjoy the route to get there, and it will make you enjoy the game itself much more in the process. Am I saying never try? No, but using tactics like tunneling and slugging, which actively detriment the game for 1 or many people, is both not efficient on the only actual goal of the game - getting bloodpoints, and ruins the fun (the most important part of a video game) for people. Think about others.

I'll start to think about others when I commonly see survivors give pity kills if they were to play for 8-12 hooks.

"The side with more skill"? Is that what we're calling overly blatant use of scummy tactics to "win" games? Skill? It doesn't take skill to tunnel someone off hook, it doesn't take skill to pick Ghoul and slug for a 4k. Which both of those stats sit at around 25% of games on their own by BHVRs own stats. That is 50% of games.

Tunneling isn't scummy. if tunneling is scummy then spreading on gens should also be considered scummy because it does effectively the same thing. Being efficient on the objective.

DBD is very blatantly a party game, the same way Among Us (a PVP game) and Town Of Salem (a PVP game) are both Party Games. Games that are meant to be fun even though they are PVP games. DBD at its core is a party game.

With among us its a majority of the time played with people you know and or have mutuals with. Thats what makes it a party game. DBD is majority of the time randoms. Notice how in dbd there isn't party game mechanics for insane comebacks. In most dbd matches the side with more skill usually wins meanwhile in games like mario kart it can legit just be whoever got the most lucky. Very big differences.

If this game really were to cross into "party game" territory its barely on the line of being a party game.

  • Because people are still treating a purely pvp game as a party game. Party game implies it can be enjoyed almost anywhere with (most if not all of the time) RNG elements like random space movements or chances to happen when dbd has more than RNG elements so DBD can not be classified as a party game. Casual maybe party? no.

So when they "stop having fun" they think its totally fine to just ruin a match even if it just started. People need to stop treating dbd like it is a party game. This isn't a social gathering of any sort digital or physical. It's strictly Player Vs Player against random people.

  • Yeah its most likely rubber banding caused by the server itself. It's happened in the past where a survivor would vault and rubber band in place briefly or sometimes just happened to killer.

  • Shift W is all I have to say. He's 110 with the axe and is slower than a survivor holding it up.

  • I dont trust the stats tbh. I've compared overall stats with another person and my 1.3k hours had 212 hours in match while they had 8k hours on dbd but only 50 morein match… Something about the stats is very off.

  • These are still good on their own.

  • 20 matches is fine especially when most of them is gonna be over with faster because of the give up system they made.

DC's should only be happening because of outages/absolute emergencies. These players of which won't really get effected by said system and only really targets the people who rage quit. If you don't want a system like this there are plenty of other games that aren't A-symms that have way less of a penalty for disconnecting.

Potentially cheaters do require DC's depending on the severity.

Sure, play who you like. If you aren't comfortable with the weaker killers, don't play them, that's completely up to you.

Though, I will say this, there are skills in most games - including DBD - that you don't learn just by watching other people. In this game, keeping track of where survivors likely are really only comes from a lot of firsthand experience, just as an example. There's definitely a degree to which you do need to hone your own skills actively to improve.

You get an edge from knowing some core elements and maybe a few knowledge checks going in, but that only gets you so far.

I can say for certain general map awareness is a skill that can be learned from watching. There is little to nothing in dbd I haven't learned by watching it instead of performing it myself. It's just common sense to me.

  • So if tunneling gets any significant changes I play the next best thing. Top 5 of roster. Why subject myself to the fundamentally weak killers just for them to be made weaker? Because I doubt BHVR would go as far as making the punishment less harsh for certain killers. Also playing the game is not the only way to learn/get better DBD. Coaches in sports are considered great at them even if they never played more than a couple professional games in their lives.

I've played plenty of games where I simply watched good gameplay and listened to people and as was automatically good at it when I started playing.

  • Given how Ruin Undying was (at the time for BHVR) swifty nerfed I'm guessing people are going hate and I mean HATE going against Springtrap especially when its going to be 70% of their games minimum for 6 months.

  • So what was the point of the clip? What you had an issue with multiple other killers could have taken advantage of to very similar degrees of success purely from your pathing.

Even if you couldn't cancel power mid leap he still would have got you before you reached the pallet in front of saloon.

  • Oni and legion is being complained about now? Isn't there infinitely WORSE combos to go against? Like I don't know, blight and nurse or billy and nurse.

It’s also not about forcing the survivors out of the exit gate, because they’re often hiding on random parts of the map, until the EGC is almost over.

People keep bringing up this strawman argument, of survivors that are conveniently waiting at the exit gates, just waiting to be quickly forced out of the exit gates. That’s not the main problem. The problem are the survivors that purposely hide during the EGC.

It's not a straw man? If I clearly lost I should be able to leave like how survivors are able to when 4 man slugged. It doesn't feel good to get slugged and doesnt feel good to be tbagged at gates. Both are scenarios you can really do not a lot about.

  • Yeah idk. Its just the doublt standard is kind of crazy to me. When survivors abandon because they're all slugged its because they believe they have little chance of coming back. But the hypothetical of a killer abandoning when the gates are powered/egc starts is 99% of the time going be because they believe they can rarely come back. Also yeah not to mention survivors Tbagging in the gate. And before I hear anything about "just force them out" it's not about forcing them out its about the rubbing it in feeling. They want to waste time for me to walk to the gate and force them out but its fine if survivors can just DC when all 4 are slugged/hooked?

    Just make it make sense.

  • Eh not as much anymore. Used to play a lot of blight but the constant collision changes. Singularity became so easy since they made soma family photo basekit, removed a bunch of little slinger spots you could shoot through and the awful trickster "rework"

  • Well get ready for even less M1's because haste stacking is staying.

I didnt say that I believe there is no counterplay. I said that i straight up see no counterplay in many situations. Im very much capable of admitting when im wrong but until now, every person here just said, that people refuse to learn counterplay while none of them provide how the supposed counterplay looks like.

One person even told me that they play this killer and dont know what the counterplay is, hoping that nobody will find something so that they can continue stomping. I kid you not.

I checked your link. Sadly it leads me to a post that has been removed. Im certain though, that you could also describe the counterplay we are all missing.

I copied and pasted the link just fine. It just boils down to knowing how long the ghoul CD is. If there's a pallet down in front of you can the ghoul already used one leap, wait for the cancel and then vault because the cooldown is so long you can make it. Also whats stopping you from figuring out counterplay yourself? Or are you one of the people who scream no counterplay and refuse to play against said killer without trying.

So I found out the most likely problem with the link. You need to be logged in to see it.

I once spawned in to Borgo, and he jumped across the map and hit me with Lethal Pursuer.

The match had just started, there should be plenty of pallets for me to run to. So I ran forward to look for one.

I literally couldn't reach one before he was on top of me again.

This was just bad map spawn RNG, a bunch of pallets did not spawn, but it isn't a skill issue that I couldn't materialize a pallet in front of me in the time it took him to finish his enrage animation and use his power again.

The fact is there are a few maps in the game where the tiles are spaced far apart enough that you may literally not be able to make it to anything. Haddonfield is another example of this, once a pallet or two in the street are used up then good luck making it to anything if he catches you out there.

I find it EXTREMELY hard to believe there wasn't some sort of pallet or window within EIGHT seconds of running to make it too.

None of this addresses my issue with Ghoul.

My issue is that if you ever don't have something to loop next to you, you die, because their cancel cooldown and movement speed is way too short.

If you don't have anything to loop you played badly. Hands down.

    What counterplay?

The only counterplay I've found against this killer is busted maps where you can quickly chain multiple tiles together, and hope your allies are efficient on generators.

reply above. Also having good teammates is good counterplay to you? Please.

You seem to believe there's no counterplay but here you go if it decides to embed.

Weaker killers based on what? High mmr? Like seriously that's how you want to create gameplay based off of? How about you just play the game and have fun instead of worrying about winning every match.

Because fun is subjective. I don't find it fun playing a weak killer just to lose most of my matches.

  • Yeah unfortunately people just refuse to learn the counterplay.

  • Yeah the only change I noticed about garden is the god truck being removed from the front yard. Other than that the house and surrounding loops is still as powerful as ever.

This .4 window makes no difference with the Flashbang, since its timing is much earlier than the flashlight's timing.

Oh it makes a difference alright. I've seen and been blinded a noticeable time before I had free range of my camera and it still has blinded me. That .4 still affects flashbangs.

  • If timing a blind took a lot more skill I would agree. But with a .4 second extra window to get the blind its fine.

  • You know I'm right. There was a reason exhaustion was literally added to counter multiple exhaustion perks being used because even the 50% increased regen time while sprinting still wasn't enough. Think about it why do you think exhaustion was made a thing when NURSE and BILLY were arguably at the peak of their power.

yeah I already know I'm gonna have someone make fun of me for this. Troll elsewhere please. I want engaging discussion as to where people want/don't want such a change maybe? not just what you said. If someone can make a straightforward thoughtful post on this maybe prove me wrong somehow.

Oh no you don't have a discussion. Stacking aura reading would be nowhere NEAR as powerful as being able to theoretically stack MULTIPLE speed boosts per survivor.

  • Comparing exhaustion to aura reading lol.

  • Fun fact most of the fnaf fans are grown up at this point as its been over 10 years since the first initial release! But yeah just because YOU don't find it interesting doesn't mean a majority of other share the same opinion. I am interested in how they would make a power themed around fnaf. I've seen some concepts around that looks pretty interesting but not the one where he was just essentially sadako before she came out.

  • No. I do NOT want a repeat of 2023 Haunted By Daylight.

  • If you're getting hit by the scamper. Skill issue. It's incredibly easy to play around. Here this will help.

Huh for some reason its not embedding correctly. Give me a moment.
Yeah for some reason the video just doesn't like to work but you can look up Lukadoosh on X and his pinned post has counterplay to ghoul.

  • From what I've heard he was hit pretty hard especially with that range nerf. Maybe learning the counterplay would help.

  • Tbf the only real locker issue like this is this one right here. Other than that I can't think of any other lockers near windows that ISNT the survivors fault for mashing the vault/enter locker button knowing there is a locker next to the window.

I don't find either of those to be reasons to return to the hook. If a survivor is in a strong position when the unhook happens, I'll either look for the other survivor (if all four are left), or force them to abandon or burn their loop (e.g. burn shack pallet). Returning to the unhook seems like I would be saying "I'm not good enough to do well in the match if I don't return to the hook instead of engaging in my current chase."

When I play survivor, I'll run from the hook if someone unhooks me while there's no active chase. And when the killer breaks chase to go back to the hook, or literally hunts for the people who unhooked, I wonder why I even care about that match anymore. I still play it out for my teammates, but this kind of cheap play is why I don't like the survivor role so much anymore.

Well here's the thing. You see it as a skill issue while I see it as its the best play to do most of the time. Why go for someone across the map that has most likely all those resources available while they nine times out of ten has some sort of perk/medkit addon to extend the chase. It just doesnt make logical sense to spend the time looking for someone else that hasn't been hooked yet when someone is way closer to death and I can pressure more people at once.

If you want to work harder not smarter go for it. Just know that way of thinking will make your games exponentially faster as allowing 4 survivors to live is just a recipe for that to happen.

  • @smurf said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3915967#Comment_3915967

Why would someone need to chase someone associated with an unhook? This should only be happening if only two survivors are left, or if someone unhooks before the killer has a chance to get away, or maybe in the egc. Playing survivor is very tedious when a killer runs back to the unhook area and looks around to find where the survivors are healing just because they haven't managed to find another survivor, or are in a chase they find too hard. I make it a point to never do this unless the unhook is done right behind me, there are only two survivors left, or we're in egc.

Well there's multiple factors. You could hook someone between multiple gens and the only other people are looping either the strongest part of the map or a place with no gens to defend. Why leave the hook to go across the map in that situation? Or better yet what if everyone is running distortion. Clearly they don't want to be chased and time isn't exactly on the killers side so they cant afford to spend a minute+ trying to find somone that could possibly exist.

  • Because it's really boring to face people who hide for 60% of the game. Hiding has its place but old distortion was just enforced unhealthy gameplay. Like yes I would LIKE to go for the unhooker but they're off in narnia while the unhooked is running around in the middle of the map like a flash beacon.

  • @Jspect said:

Yeah no it feels AWFUL. The -2 range barely has an effect on his strength, it just feels really clunky. It only impacts the killer's experience. The people downvoting despise ghoul so they'd like every nerf possible, even if it isn't warranted.

You know its funny because it seems to be the same five people down voting.

1 … 10 11 12 13 14 … 71
