Y’know it really says a lot when a survivor main is so spoiled to the point where they’re literally complaining about an M1 killer.

Then you're gonna be REALLY pissed when I say I don't like Wraith either 🥰

  • I don't like them either

It doesn't waste as much time as you think though, it's only a couple seconds. Once a Killer realizes Blast Mine is in play, they will simply not waste any time on kicking and just go for slugs or chases - or they will hope you 3gen yourselves, made even easier with Blast Mine in play because people running Blast Mine really really REALLY want the Killer to kick. If the killer doesn't someone inevitably finishes that gen, and then you usually end up 3genned if the Killer is any smart.

People do not run Blast Mine with any actual strategy in mind. They run it for the fun of seeing the perk go off, that's the whole appeal, which is why BHVR ner-buffed it - a nerf to the time (it lasts shorter on the gen) but also a buff to how frequently it can be used (because it's 40% of a gen not 50% anymore).

And perks that Killers already use - Surge, Grim Embrace, DMS, Pain Res - all instantly counter it by regressing or holding gens FOR you so you don't have to kick them, meaning the Blast Mine is utterly worthless and zero of the Killer's time is wasted. It might be viable, but it basically does little more than annoy the Killer and tell you what you already know - the Killer kicked a gen you were just working on and is right over there. It also provides light info for SoloQ, but not any better than Wiretap which is much stronger in literally every single case you would ever need for finding a Killer this way. It's certainly not strong enough or useful enough to ever truly be meta. And frankly, it shouldn't be, because it's more or less JUST a perk you run for funsies and to get Blind challenges done without a flashlight.

It's also not free. It's a Jill Valentine Perk. Jill is a character you can only buy with Aurics or through the Resident Evil chapter. Definitely not free unless it comes to the Shrine.

I do strategize, personally. I pair it with wiretap so if the killer doesn't kick, I get good aura reading. If the killer does kick? Well then, I have both residual manifest and alert for more aura reading AND the killer is blind to auras for 30 seconds. Not only that, but it helps teammates that are in chase to know what gen to avoid and helps teammates find gens on maps like silent hill. You should try it out sometime, I love it

Nah, I'm giving myself something to do because the killer could have ended my game A LONG time ago. It was the killers decision to keep me from going next match. This way I get a little bit more points for staying in match longer. I get something out of it since the killer clearly doesn't want me to be in next match getting more points

That's just survivors not trying, of course killers can 4k when survivors decide to give it for free, even with hatches

No killer skill is related to that, finding completely hiding survivors are literally not possible and even bannable in certain circumstance, so yes, it's impossible to get 4k at all, as long as survivors are actually trying

Wait, so you're saying that it's harder to get a 4k when the other side.......plays the game? Who would've thunk. Let me dc for free after being slugged for so long and maybe we have a deal. My bot will get to have the fun of laying on the ground for 4 minutes and I get to actually play the game!

As long as hatch exists, killers can't get 4k at all, so your argument only works when hatch doesn't exists

Blame the hatch mechanics, I guess

At all? That's funny because I've seen many killers get 4ks without slugging. As soon as the killer sees the second to last survivor, I should be able to self kill on the ground unless the killer is just so bad in chase already

Almost as if there is a penalty for doing so, hmmmmmmmm

Yeah, it really doesn't makes sense when people repeatedly tell anyone "you don't get anything from 4k, that's just your ego" when it's objectively giving so many rewards to any killer who managed to 4k

They are literally lying, just to make their own opinions "right" one

Give me an option to self kill myself and the killer can get their precious 4k while I get to be in the next match getting more points and having fun. Anything where after 90 seconds or something I can just die since the killers family will die if they don't get the 4k. I just love being on the ground for 4 minutes because they're so thirsty for a 4k. Because once the killer is in chase with the second to last survivor, there is NO REASON for me to have to wait for them to down them, hook and then get me.

When survivors wait in the exit I roll my eyes. I thend proceed to walk into a corner so they waste more time. You need it so bad? Then work for it.

I think the same way that I do about slugging for the 4k as I do about survivors teabagging the exit gate when they already won. The survivors are denying the killer the ability to go to the next match just like how the killer denies the slugged survivor the same. My opinion is that if you're gonna deny me the option to be in the next match, then I'm gonna do the same by making it take longer for you to find me since you needed the 4k so bad.

Actually, no. The big bonus the Killer gets is for nobody getting out. At eight hooks the Killer is already going to get all they need for that. Since you know the game, I'm not telling you anything you don't already know. But the Killer earns Pips by destroying lots of stuff, getting a certain number of hooks, making the game last as LONG as possible before the gates open, and by making sure nobody gets out. In that respect a Killer who quickly and efficiently sacrifices everyone will get fewer points and is less likely to double pip. It is strange that being an effective Killer, and getting you on to your next match, is less lucrative than making the matches last, but that is how it works. ;)

As to the Killer being called the "power role" that is a matter of opinion. In point of fact, the so-called power role shifts over the course of your experience. The Killer only enjoys being top dawg while hunting relatively new Players, potatoes for lack of a kinder term. The power role flips to the Survivors as they learn what to do and when to do it. The power role is defined by who calls the shots in a match, sets the tone and pretty much makes the other side react to them. The DEV fixed it so that there is a maximum amount of time you will spend on the ground. You will bleed out. The delay for you to get to your next match is measured in minutes only, however long it may SEEM to you.

Dude, just admit you love holding survivors hostage so you can call your parents and tell them your apparent killer accomplishments. Congrats, if you haven't heard from them yet. Good job! Please slug more, and BM why don't you. I'm done with a conversation with a brick wall. Hope you get bled out if you play survivor and we'll see how much you love slugging then.

I think you are lying on the ground for the Killer Player's desire for a double Pips actually, not ego. On that note, how do you think Killers feel about those last two Survivors who stop trying to do Generators and try to hide forever in hopes the Killer quits. Is that for their ego? :) I'm not acting, "high and mighty," but rather pointing out entitlement of a kind you usually see in a Starbucks when a barista is being yelled at about something not under the barista's power.

In regards laying on the ground, I would direct your ire at the people actually responsible for picking you up, not the person who is supposed to put you down. And of course, a little self reflection on how you got on the ground in the first place. I'm sure your own choices weigh in as well as the Killer's move. I've been a wiggle worm on the ground too, and I'm aware it isn't fun. It is just part of the game and you simply have to get past that.

First of all, I never stop trying to do generators so miss me with that scenario. Also, the killer is supposed down me and then hook me, so the other survivors not at fault here. The killer is called the power role for a reason. I feel the same way about slugging for the 4k that I feel about survivors teabagging at the gate when they already won. It denies the killer the opportunity to go to next match to keep playing.

Ok, let's consider carefully what you just said. It brings up questions such as, why do you think any format of this game is non-competitive? It is a 4v1 or 8v2, where one side is supposed to try and escape, and the other is supposed to kill them all. That is the entire game in a nutshell. It doesn't have a non-competitive mode. While some matches happen now and then where the Killer and Survivors decide to farm, that is a mutual choice and not really by design. Next, fun is what you make it. You get out of a game, exactly what you bring into it. If you have decided you can't have fun if the other side is going to bring "maximum effort" as Deadpool would say, it your mindset that is getting in your way.

Your fun should never be predicated on the outcome of the match. Your fun should come from the journey, regardless of the destination. If you don't enjoy the process, then you might have to consider your choice to be in that match in the first place? They say the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, expecting a different result. Do you catch my meaning? There is no Survivor's Rulebook for Killers. You have no authority or entitlement to tell other people how they should be playing. You have the right, of course, to complain and try to shame others all you want. Is that really the way you want us to see you?

Please don't act all high and mighty. I'm fine getting killed and not escaping. What I don't like is laying on the ground when I could have been in the next match getting more points and having fun. But here I am, slugged for the killers ego. That's my problem. Its annoying

I know, right? How dare they try to fulfill their objective 100%. Don't they know they are supposed to let some of you go? ;)

I hope every survivor you slug always gets hatch and that every match is a 4 out. This is insane. In a non competitive mode that's supposed to be fun, still survivors can't escape killers that need "8ks" as if their whole family will die if they don't.

You do know some killers in the game by design excel from slugging right?

Freddy: How do you keep everyone asleep and slow the game down? Slug.

Hooking survivors wakes them up. So, by design Freddy gets punished for doing his objective as the killer.

Singularity: How do you spread Slipstream without any add on? Slug.

Hooking survivors pops the slipstream on survivors back for hooking them.

Dredge: How do you keep people injured and speed up Nightfall? Slug.

Don't get mad at us for how we play you should be rolling your eyes at how the killers are being designed that makes us play this way. Everyone don't slug to be toxic, some of us play this way because we get punished just for doing our objective.

Add an option for me to self kill myself and the killer can get points faster. Problem solved. I get to leave a miserable round and they get their precious 4k. Win-win

  • @danielmaster87 said:

They already worked hard for it. They killed 2 people and are now going for the other 2. If you want to lay on the ground even longer, by all means crawl to that corner.

I'm only on the ground because the killer wants me to be. That's the funny part. If they gave me an option to bleed out faster, I'd be so happy.

I encourage you to do that, if I slug you then I'm using that time to smash left over pallets/doors or finding the hatch to close. Looking for your slugged a$$ isn't a priority. So while you think your essentialy giving the slugger the finger your really not lol.

Took this a little personal I see. Sorry I wanna get a few more points to stay in match longer because the killer didn't want to go ahead and kill me so I could already be in another match.

Knight player has zero control over the guards after they start hunting or chasing the survivor. It's all ai control so yeah it's a skill issue if you can't juke the guards that's almost as dumb as Nemesis zombies.

Obviously it's easy to juke when the knights not around, duh. But now normal Knight places guard and leaves, you got two people to loop now. Don't act as if he doesn't get a free hit out of it most of the time. That's why I hate him. Hold w until he gets a free hit, otherwise you're sandwiched.

  • @mizark3 said:

On paper I love it! In practice when I scout a Huntress slowing walking across the map and my teammates never respond… yeah… not fun. Now I wasted time that could have been spent on gens, since my Surv teammates aren't intelligent enough to realize the Huntress is heading directly towards them with a free aura read.

Yeah, I really like using it more when someone is actively in chase so they last longer. But I get it because it's definitely hit or miss. When it works, it works, but is bad when no one uses the info.

  • Clown - Lose-Lose situations across the board. You drop pallet, hell just bottle you and bloodlust. You run? He bottles you and catches up.

Alien - Turrets that don't work half the time, tail attack that you can barely react to so it creates situations where you run to window to either get hit with tail or get baited to try and juke and get hit with basic attack instead.

Skull Merchant - Drones that give her free hits because if you crouch, she'll just catch up, and if you run normal, you'll have health state taken away. Plus WAY too many status effects.

Spirit - I like her kinda, but hate that once you get injured, you're basically dead against any good spirit.

  • Idk, how long have you been playing? I used to hate tunneling when I first started, but now accept it when it happens. I actually find that killers are far more likely to not tunnel in my matches. And since I've gotten much better at looping and my solo queue teammates get better, tunneling is actually already detrimental, especially since taking hits and body blocking is normal.

Like I get that the endgame chat is often used for shittalk or pointing out misplays etc. and I'm mostly fine with that; however I've encountered so many players in the last 2 days that took things way too far.

Had one Ghostfaceplayer that even won thanks to Noed throw an absolute tantrum after the match, basically telling us that he will find us in real life and make sure to murder us and our families while we sleep. Another guy basically said that he wishes my entire family dies a horrible death of cancer and illnesses and that they suffer while I watch. In the end DBD is still a videogame and saying stuff like that just takes it way way too far. You can write EZ or complain about gameplay and balance idc.

Also I have the feeling like the reporting system is way too lenient on these things. I know people from before my long DBD break and also said horrible things on like a regular basis and got probably reported for that very often but they still play DBD almost daily.

This is why I'm glad console doesn't have endgame chat.

  • Id love that. Both killer and surv would get basekits that help the flow of the game. Could make more interesting builds for killer as well since they wouldn't have to run it.

Skull Merchant is not a fun or fair killer to play against, and I’m tired of people jumping through hoops trying to defend her. None of the arguments used hold up to actual scrutiny.

She’s a setup killer, with no need for actual setting up.

People often liken her to Trapper and Hag in the way she’s able to lock down areas of the map with her drones, so the logical counter play is to hack her drones (akin to disarming Trapper’s traps).

The comparison seems to make sense, until you realise that Skull Merchant has NONE of the caveats of the actual setup killers.

Both Trapper and Hag are forced to be stationary and look at the floor during their trapping animations. Skull Merchant just has to tap M2 and the drone is set up for her without interfering with her chase. This means she doesn’t have to waste any time at the start of the match setting up and can just do it all as she goes. Where Trapper and Hag need planning, positioning, and setup time to deny a loop, Skull Merchant literally just has to tap M2 (losing NO distance) and the survivor is forced to leave. She doesn’t even have to be precise in where she places the drone, since the scan lines are so wide and cover entire tiles.

And then there’s the fact she doesn’t even have to manually rearm disabled drones. If Trapper wants to reset a disabled trap, he has to walk over to it and manually rearm it. Hag is much the same. If a trap gets wiped away from an area where she wants one, she needs to go there to place it again. Skull Merchant though? Her drones automatically rearm for her, quickly enough that a survivor has to hack it 2/3 times in the time it’ll take them to do a single generator.

Crouching drones is not valid counterplay.

There’s also the whole argument of “just crouch or stand still” that gets brought up every time. But in most circumstances, trying to do this will still end with you being hit. Sure, there are some really safe tiles where this can work. But at most loops if you keep abruptly stopping in the middle of your chase, she’s just going to catch you up and M1 you. Crouching is only consistently viable to avoid scanning outside of a chase, not during one.

    Overlapping drones.

Another frankly silly thing Skull Merchant can do is place 2/3 drones close by, resulting in overlapping scan lines. These become completely unavoidable in chase and make hacking them take even longer outside of a chase.

There are certain maps where survivors are forced to move through specific thoroughfares often. Just place like three drones in them and boom, you’ve split the map up with minimal effort. The main lobby of RPD, Haddonfield houses, the bottleneck on Azarov’s, etc. Survivors either have to be CONSTANTLY hacking the drones, or they’re denied huge chunks of the map when it comes to chases. It’s silly how little effort this requires.

She‘s a stealth killer with none of the caveats of a stealth killer.

Skull Merchant has on-demand Undetectable. But unlike most of the actual stealth killers, she gives no warning to the survivors to be alert. Wraith shimmers, grunts, and rings his bell. Myers breathes LOUDLY and has the Halloween jingle play when he tiers up. Pig makes mechanical sounds while crouching/uncrouching and roars before an ambush. Chucky has voice lines and footsteps. Onryō even has a whole LULLABY.

Skull Merchant though? She gets Undetectable with no downsides. Her footsteps aren’t particularly loud. Her breathing is relatively quiet. Etc.

She can unironically pull better stealth plays than actual stealth killers sometimes.

Lock on stacks cannot be removed.

Once again, there’s really no meaningful counterplay for the survivors. There are times you will be forced to take a drone scan, and there’s nothing you can even do to mitigate it once it’s happened. Compare it to Trickster’s laceration or Unknown’s weakness, which take more skill to land and can completely decay mid chase. But Skull Merchants drones, which are way easier to use than a ranged killer, offer no way for the survivors to undo the damage. It’s a case of just waiting until you eventually get broken.

Status effect, status effect, and more status effects.

The amount of status effects her kit has is just silly. She has lock on, Undetectable, Haste, Hindered, Deep Wounds, and more with add-ons. Trying to keep track of it all and make informed decisions in a chase is such a hassle.

Against any other killer you can (mostly) accurately judge whether or not you’ll make it to a vault or pallet. But against Skull Merchant? It’s hard to know. There’s not adequate visual feedback on when she gets a speed boost.

Plus she has addons that mess with the intensity and duration of her effects, so even if you figure things out for one match, the next one will be different!

    3 genning.

Is she as good at holding a 3 gen as before? No, but she can still drag out matches longer than a lot of other killers. The anti 3 gen mechanic means that she won’t win if the survivors are committed, but most survivors aren’t interested in playing the tug of war for the amount of time the mechanic will take to kick in.

Place your drones around the generators and tightly patrol them. Two things can happen:

    • Survivors are meticulous about disarming drones, which equates to less time spent on the generators. Plus you can easily recall and replace them and waste even more time.
    • Survivors don’t disarm the drones, which means when you patrol the generator they’re forced to navigate through the scan lines. Either they take a scan (and eventually have to mend, wait out broken, and heal) or they crouch/standstill the drones which allows the Skull Merchant to catch up and M1 them.

    Players

Skull Merchant often attracts a specific style of players. Obviously not every Skull Merchant player is like this, but the vast majority I see are anonymous mode, hitting on hook, being unpleasant in post-game chat, etc. Maybe I’m just unlucky with the ones I encounter, but it’s a very apparent trend for me.

This sums up Everything. Couldn't have said it better, she gets all the benefits of other killers and no downsides along with braindead "skill" expression.
