  • These are the conditions from perks that can trigger aura reading effects, not effects that will always occur in every match. This does not include killer powers. I did not include survivor perks where they can see eachother (probably its own issue, but not my focus here).

Actions that can trigger survivor aura reveals from killer perks:

    • Being injured near a survivor being chased
    • Looking at the killer within their terror radius
    • Being within 8m of a locked chest
    • Being within 12m of a dropped item
    • Being the Obsession (various perk effects)
    • A pallet or breakable wall being broken within range
    • A generator being damaged or kicked
    • Being outside the terror radius while a Hex effect is active (Face the Darkness condition)
    • Being carried
    • Searching a locker
    • Being unhooked
    • Trial start / match opening phase
    • Being on a generator when Eruption triggers
    • Being within 4m of an unlit totem
    • Hitting a great skill check
    • Dropping a pallet
    • Being stunned or blinding the killer (pallet/locker/flashlight)
    • Entering or exiting lockers quickly
    • Fast or medium vaulting
    • Being near a Scourge Hook
    • Being in the exit gate area
    • Being in the basement
    • Being 40m away from a hooked survivor
    • Becoming exhausted
    • Healing or being healed
    • Attempting to blind the killer
    • Ending chase / losing chase state

Actions that can trigger killer aura reveals from survivor perks:

    • Depleting an item
    • Being the Obsession (Object of Obsession interactions)
    • Killer breaks a pallet or kicks a generator
    • Survivor is unhooked (multiple perk variations)
    • Starting to repair a generator
    • Killer downs a survivor
    • Killer injures another survivor
    • Being within 14m of a generator (Wiretap)
    • Hitting a great skill check
    • Dropping a pallet during chase
    • Being in the killer’s terror radius (survivor screams reveal killer via certain perks)
    • Healing in the basement
    • Being idle for a short duration
    • Scream after cleansing or blessing a totem
    • Completing a generator
    • Killer disturbs a crow while survivor is within range
    • Becoming exhausted
    • Killer has repeatedly had your aura revealed (stacked reveal effects / tracking conditions)

  • I agree that dbd is a party game. Desperately wish they'd add a ranked queue because playing surv with optimal perks and playstyle is so boring. At this point, idc if it wouldnt be balanced or if the queue times are hellish. In any other game, norms are meant for experimentation and learning. Whats the point of experimenting with perk builds on either side if you know that your nerfing yourself just to try something new? Like why does it feel so bad to just have fun at a certain mmr without caring about escaping. Its not like we get anything for escaping anyways…

  • I feel like they are forced to make survivor adjustments quite quickly because they are struggling to balance alot of weaker killers properly. When the survivors get a good item/perk into the high tier killers (nurse, blight), it feels good because they have more options into them. But those same options completely shut down the gameplay of weak killers (SM, hag, dredge) which struggle to play as is. You cant create a good oppositional force to killers if the power levels of the killers are so different in the first place. If all the killers were more balanced to one another, these survivor changes would probably last alot longer or atleast be able to be adjusted without completely killing the original idea of the perk/item.

For survivors if theres a busted killer loadout, atleast they have the chance to face a different killer, or they tend to have perks to counter the meta. For example, DMS + Pain res pre-nerf popular at the same time as prove thy self. Killers queue into the broken ######### every game though and for the weaker ones it could completelty counter their powers making them useless.

  • I'm a pretty mediocre PC surv player. My current build is Bond, Prove Thyself, Lithe and Reassurance. I often bring a brown or yellow toolbox. I only play solo q. This is just to give an idea where my opinion comes from.

Gens have been completely blown out of the water lately. Once I see someone in that first chase, I can almost guarantee a complete gens just by using prove n bond to milk it as much as possible. As long as it isn't a literal instadown a gen or two has been completed within that time. Along with reassurance, it has made it super hard for killers to camp people and instead gives my team and I extra objective time. Ive left some people on hook near me with reassurance to secure last gen without killer patrolling me quite a few times. Within the last 5 games or so (all I can recall in a detailed sense) all gens have been completed. This is just my experience though.

BTW this does not mean everyone gets out alive. Solo Q is a whole different beast and mistakes ppl make are no where near as easy to recover. If this is my solo-q experience I can't imagine what a swf would look like Lol

  • Its always been a problem of skill and intention. A casual will always underperform compared to someone whose sweating their ass off. Surprised there isn't a ranked mode for this game the way people mald about it being balanced or not.

  • This may just be my friend group- but a lot of us that played dbd mostly played survivor. Mainly only started playing to have another game to play with everyone. Many of us started playing killer with some of the survivor changes feelin less then ideal or just getting overall bored. Like four people in my group have all become nemesis mains lmao. So maybe just more survs playin killer and findin what they like :D?

Also obviously, new RE chapter comin! Probably some hype.

Edit: They all became nemi mains simply to have their "good boys" (zombies) around the map.

  • I save them just to spite them lol

  • Jill and lisa for surv, Sadako and legion for killer on pc.

Jill just too badass, and the condemn mori's on sadako are just chefs kiss

  • I'm a survivor main first and foremost but I do dabble in killer. I've 4k'd every match within the past few days. From the survivor perspective, teammates have been horrible. From a killer perspective, im sitting here wondering what the hell are survivors doing? Im figuring its a matchmaking issue. No idea what else.

  • Very similar experience honestly. No inbetweens either. Either baby killer with yellow/green perks or a cracked out nurse. Super weird

  • RPD and Dead dog for both. Although I've played rpd so many times I literally feel I have an advantage when im killer because its like no one knows where theyre going 🤣

Also midwich... only if its brought in an offering.

  • Looking at statistics like this is awesome. Was surprised to see huntress being the 2nd most killer though? Just interesting. Really curious to seeing survivor build vs killer build popularity. It feels like a new meta is already back in place game to game.

  • How is this broken when it is a valid mechanic to playing her? I think it gives some intricacy to her playstyle, and makes her more interesting to play. She does not need to be nerfed by any means. Everyone knows how weak she can be. Lets not act like she's moonwalking someone though all her condemn stacks to kill either. That playstyle going for all condemn moris requires a lot of map presence and patience on Sadako.

Also this playstyle is pretty new... Lets give these poor sadako mains like a few months before we nerf one of their interesting mechanics

  • Most of the complaints about it in my opinion though come from a misuse of tunneling/camping accusations and misplays by survivor. Honestly though, If your wondering why and not just tryna bait the 50th argument about tunneling and camping on this forum, just go play survivor and see. Thats all there is to it. GL

  • Whenever I see a map offering in my game I just roll my eyes. Its always lerys, midwich, autohaven or deaddog. Sometimes an RPD for someone memeing. I would agree it gives that particular side an advantage though. Can't deny on either side my build would 100% change depending on what map I'm going. Someone predetermined knowing that just gives everyone else a lil slack I guess.

Honestly I'm more annoyed at how many of them are in my bloodweb instead of actual items considering I dont use them.

  • In my opinion nurses addons need to be changed. Strong killer with even stronger addons, it doesn't make sense. Besides that Its hard to play against her when her blink range is different every time you play against her because of the addons. I understand she's difficult but shouldn't excuse her imbalance to the other killers. Can't say much on blight because I actually enjoy playing against him lol

It almost feels like they designed themselves into a corner. They cant buff other killers to their level due to the difficulty cap for nurse and blight.

  • I never realized this was bad manners? I be workin on my loadout right tilt the last second most games lol. Just indecisive

  • Lets be honest, prove thyself always has been strong even before the patch came. No doubt though the perk is more popular now. Personally I never ran it much before patch but nowadays as a solo q survivor main, I run it every game. I call it my Prove Thyself grimy fingers which I eventually place on every generator. Its just too good to not use frankly.

Can't speak for others but I dont even remember the last time I let the killer get use out of that combo. Maybe my teammates might break'em, but I just boon over hexes knowing there will be no repercussions.

Definitely agree, thats why I say the counterplay is just very easy. However, if your base killer mechanics are good on its own , the build along with deadlock is super oppressive imo

  • It'll have its place im sure when the theory crafting comes into play, however I think most of the underestimating of MoM came from how random of a change it was before anything else.

  • These increased gen speed perks are mega popular right now because of the slowdown perks killers are running. Its a back and forth. Regardless, you'll still have other gen slow builds you can still go in the future. Plaything + Pentimento can still give insane value when it comes to gen slows (although the counter is pretty simple) if thats what your looking for.

Theres really no need for such doomer posts when there are a plethora of other viable builds killers can run. Regardless I don't think thana was that insane on any other killer except plague and legion AND its still good on them. You'll be ok!

  • Yeah cutting your loses is a big one. Dont know how many times a ######### killer has 4kd off of a endgame hook that snowballed into oblivion

  • With the way the game is now, I don't think Its very hard to get a 4k if your playing dirty. If I want 4ks I camp a 3 gen and just simply vibe. Drown out the game as much as possible, and with current slowdowns its not very difficult. If this is the definition of a perfect game then sure.

But a more ideal "perfect game" for both sides would be one with multiple chases, and a constant back n forth. A game of cat and mouse. Most games I play like this are not resulting in 4ks, usually 3 or 2ks.

So I guess it just depends on that specific person's view of what a win is. 4ks feel great, but I wouldn't count it as necessary for a win.

  • More than anything im confused why MoM was on the devs minds before literally any other perk in the game. It just seems so unnecessary ? Within patch ive only seen ONE MoM.

  • The thana changes im iffy about still, I think ill need to hear more arguments from both sides before I settle if this is a good change or not.

As for MoM, the aura change seems completely unreasonable. It was barely used before... so why would anyone use it now unless theyre a literal godlike looper? Seems odd, but maybe I just havent seen the value with it yet.

As for the other updates, I just dont care too much about the other changes they made.

  • Agreed. Its still an amazing perk in good hands. Its only dead to those unwilling to learn it. The animation jank is a bit odd though. It just looks weird and out of place. I hope a new animation is put in place for it eventually.

  • This feels like a tinfoil hat conspiracy. I get DCs in my survivor games but its always been in games that are straight miserable, or the person has been tunneled n face camped on hook so they dc to not give points. Even in my killer games I don't get DCs unless its a 3-gen moment and the game is stalling out.

The whole two months thing is a terrible idea regardless. People should just be able to leave a match if there's a hacker in game, if they have a real life occurrence come up, or for any other reason. Placing these people hostage in games which they already feel like they're being held hostage is not a good idea.

Overall I think yall need to chill out. The stats won't be boosted that much. Also, frankly the devs have probably seen this exactly same "don't fall for it devs 😪" post multiple times since the patch dropped.

  • Believe this is already an acknowledged bug, id check the bug reports n filter to acknowledged. Should be a thread there.

  • Not seeing survivors with full loadouts is weird man. This seems like a match making issue.

  • I think It could be worth testing. Not something you know the strength of til they try.

  • The issue with thana is not the perk itself, its its synergy with killers such as Plague and Legion. Haven't seen many people caring about thana on other killers, instead most complaints are basically only about those killers who purposefully make the games last forever. Aside from its synergy with the killers themselves, it also synergizes incredibly well with other perks too. A build which doesn't even completely rely on thana being Deadlock, Plaything, Pentimento and Thana.

I don't think thana is busted by any means but no one can deny that the perk is being used to draw out games to be insanely long. I think some type of counterforce needs to be added into the game for the killer stretching these games out far too long.

Of course, Survivors will adjust, and already have started to with the amount of toolboxes and prove thyselfs ive been seeing. I honestly feel this is just the meta that killers are putting themselves into by running thana every match.

  • You can suppress it by... not watching the video 😎

  • Its being used so much in response to slowdown perk buffs. Specifically thana- to counteract it. You're seeing it for a reason. But yeah, Discordance would be your counter to keep it from getting max effect. Personally I don't run thana when I play killer so I run discordance instead. Surveillance builds combined with a regression perk like jolt too has given me some love. Depends how you like to play.

    Goodluck 😋

  • Valid complaint honestly, Killers are worth more then their gameplay with the way the perk system is used in this game. Probably a spaghetti code issue though.

  • "without your precious E"

This is some good bait op. 🐟️

  • I need those survivor icons- for some type of communication in game to maybe prevent crap like this. I hope it would help

  • This is why we need those survivor portraits ASAP for solo queue!!

  • Ive played about 5 games so far today and 4 of them have been facecampers. Camping always happened but it happens so often right now its odd. A lot of lethal pursuers for an immediate chase, 3 gens done into a down. Then we see kindred and the killer just staring at them.

Its really just odd. All these games have been 3 escapes and 1 hook/2hook. It just really sucks for that one guy honestly :(

  • Being forced to prestige is so trash. I'm barely getting anyyy iris :(

  • There are some killers builds which are just boring and take forever to play against. I honestly can't blame some survivors for just dcing when they realize what's going on. Doesn't mean I like it. Its extremely annoying. Probably had about 6 survivors dc and like a few kill themselves on first hook within the past two days. But I can see why its a trend.

Especially in solo q, you don't owe anything to anyone. You really can play as selfishly as you like, since there's essentially no communication implemented into the game for survivor teams.

As for this tinfoil hat conspiracy that people are purposefully killing themselves to make killer changes happen- is honestly ridiculous. I don't imagine people are spending their time killing themselves on hook, and going next then waiting for timer just for killer changes. If people are killing themselves on hook its because their not having fun, and would rather do anything else. Also I have never seen anyone claim this conspiracy from a survivor perspective. Not a single survivor Lol.

  • I think its just people adjusting? People leaving gens earlier and hiding instead of sticking on it and taking chase. Results in sneakier gameplay and faster gens. Its just adapting to the stronger gen regression and chase killers have this patch.

Ghost Face is one, assuming someone is running spinechill with the new super buff. Can't possibly sneak up to anyone. BHVR said he's now expected to only stalk 40 meters away, but with a 36 meter super buff, you can indefinitely avoid him.

"If they have spine chill" gave me a laugh. I havent seen spinechill be used since it removed vaulting buff.

  • @VoidOfMe said:

are you really seeing a lot of variety on perks?

The only thing I see changing is the exaustion perk. Sometimes its overcome, sometimes it's SB and other times the one you jump off a window and run.

The rest you can count is OTR, BT and adrenaline.

Depends on MMR probably. I've been seeing a lot of distortion, prove thyself and adrenaline. Also been seeing some straight up totem eating builds and some vaulting things too. If your tired of the repetitive perks- dont worry both sides are. Be the person that switches it up and tries some weird ######### if you wana have a good time.

  • I agree like 100%. I thought I was mad at regression perks at the beginning of patch, but was really just having to get used to the longer gen speeds. Been enjoying the patch after getting more acquainted with it 😅

Kindred (is a must hands down), CoH, Windows (to not end up in deadzone). The fourth perk I change depending on task, after patch it's Lithe, but my Jonah didn't have it, so I tried new Off the record.

Maybe try out different builds to see what fits your playstyle better for this patch. Distortion has been a lifesaver for me and has replaced my iron will slot that used to be in every build. If you've been taking kindred bc people wont get you off hook, maybe try the new deliverance x OTR combo. Its pretty cheesy but nice for solo q. Just a suggestion so maybe your games turn out better.

  • I'd take a break for the game if its not fun for you. I had this exact experience after patch just released n it was miserable. Games have been getting better these last few days though. Like first few days after patch it was hard tunneling through otr and bt, then a face camp. Now, its leveled out into some more chill killers. Honestly think my MMR was inflated pre-patch and I hada get put back to where I belong by just playing the games through.

Best of luck on your next games o7

  • I thought the patch was bad for solo q but not 28 lose streak bad. What typa builds you runnin?

Wait, not the main point of the post at all but, is shaking your head yes at pallets considered toxic?

I do it pretty often (ironically, as Legion!) in my games, but in my perspective it's to show I'm good sports? I usually do it if the survivor teabags after getting a pallet stun, to tell them "hey congrats you got the stun!" or "Yeah that was pretty funny" if they barely got it.

I didn't think anything from it and the survivors I go against generally seem to take it well? I feel like emoting like this as killer reminds survivors that I'm an actual person and if they were taunting or clicking, they often lay off it after a couple exchanges like this, at least in my experience.

(Before anyone comes at me for playing Legion, I play them super friendly, and I run Discordance, Iron Grasp, Mad Grit and Spies From The Shadows. I also haven't played killer since the update)

Theres a million small things in this game that people take as toxic, or as a sign of being nice and they often overlap from my experience lol

  • How many hooks/kills did you get that game? Also wouldn't it be better to test it multiple times with different perks (for different synergies) instead of just one build if you want to feel out how strong it is?

*edit- i miswrote game instead of build

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/336542/anyone-else-feel-like-the-devs-are-scared-of-making-strong-survivor-perks

Ok, devs said that they nerfed selfcare because they think that having the capability of healing at will is not balanced at all. Then you find Circle of Healing and bottany stacking, giving you the exact same thing they said that was too strong.

Then we have Off The Record, which has received a considerable buff that transformed it into one of the strongest perks in the game for survivors.

We also have some exhaustion perks that give haste (sprintburst, balanced landing, agility) , perks that if are used with knowledge can be also strong.

Then, about your "strong" killer perks, lethal pursuer can only be used once and needs addons and aura reading perks to be useful. Pentimento is easy to counter, just do not cleanse if it is not needed, and if shattered hope is in game, do not boon or make sure you cleanse one Pentimento totem so it does not reach 5 stacks. For pain resonance, try to be far from scourge hooks and keep repairing the gen, and have long chases. For Call of Brine, simply stop the regression and be patient. The same world for Deadlock, be patient and if the killer is camping the gen, then go repair another one.

Every perk in the game can be countered, and many times outsmarting your rival is more than necessary to avoid difficult situations, like a 5-stack Pentimento. Some counters are easy and some are difficult, but if well-executed, the match could be yours.

Rarely have I seen pentimento without plaything. Same thing with lethal pursuer and bbq/darkness revealed/ one of my many other aura perks. If killers are willingly taking builds which don't communicate well with each other that is not indicative of survivor perks strength. Same thing with survivor builds. Botany has been nerfed on its own, yet pairs well with CoH. Its the same thing with how killer builds work. Botany isnt that great on its own, same with pentimento.

Regardless its not a post about strength of current perks but wanting a new way to play survivor.
