  • I got 50k bps myself. I thought it was because of that 24hr exam they recently did.

  • I was just trying to figure this out as well. I'm sure there's a reason, but I can't think of what it might be. I'm hoping to find out soon.

  • I had a situation like this recently and I definitely considered it holding the game hostage and I reported the killer.

The killer (Doctor) literally only patrolled. He wouldn't chase anyone more than 5ft away from the 3 gens but if he did down someone he wouldn't hook them despite having 3 hooks in the area. For 20-30 minutes...

I see a lot of people saying, "Why should he leave his objective?" or "They 3 genned themselves". No. Just no. The killer's objective is to kill survivors, not sit on gens for 20-30 minutes, preventing the game from progressing at all. And given that doctor can easily force a 3 gen, that point is also silly.

In my situation, the killer had all the power. He choose to force a 3 gen (meaning he had no pressure on the rest of the map ), 4 gens got done and he got one kill in that time (that he camped and tunneled to get---again, no pressure on the map). He then sat on the gens refusing to let the game progress. He could've easily gotten at least one kill, maybe more, but he choose not to. At that point survivors have no choice but to quit the game or run at him and lay on the ground until everyone is slugged, thus giving him very undeserved kills.

  • I will be the first to admit that being a killer main is basically like walking into and 24/7 Taco Bell with a sign around your neck that says "S**t on me!". If that's too graphic, it's like walking into a pro-wrestling match, getting in the ring and taunting the wrestlers. You get the point...

However...It's really obnoxious how many people say things like, "It's a tactic" and "Don't get caught". First of all, 'don't get caught'? Pipe tf down, you know that's the dumbest "advice", lmao. Even the best get caught, ok?
Stop defending it; you know it's not fun and you know it spurs a lot of negativity, just like teabaggers and people who will wait at the gate for 5 minutes just to gloat. It's literally the equivalent of people who say "it's just crouching bruh". It is what it is; if you wanna camp, tunnel or teabag that's fine, but stop trying to pretend you aren't contributing to this toxic community by doing so...

There's plenty of times when the game calls for camping/patrolling/tunneling---gen rushing and/or ruin got done in 2 secs (srsly, I spawn right in front of it A LOT), no kill pressure or kills, someone was really toxic, it's late game, etc...but face camping the first person you see is some ridiculous bs and there's no excuse except maybe if you're running insidious (lol) or it's someone who you have played against who was very toxic. Otherwise, if you do it at least have the balls to admit that you're being toxic and stop trying to defend it.

When I play as the killer, I hook and leave, I make it a point not to hook the same person twice in a row except in rare situations, and I always PIP and usually kill about 2-3 mostly because I give hatch to the last guy if I feel like they played well. Perhaps that's why it bothers me so much to see people defending it.
These are usually the same people who dodge a lobby because of SWF, or flashlights (which have been nerfed a lot and has MULTIPLE counters), or those who constantly whine about DS even though you can slug or dribble the person, or those who complain about Self Care, Exhaustion perks and/or Pallet Looping which have all been nerfed.

I've written a long enough post...
tl;dr: stop perpetuating the toxicity and think about what you can do to be a better player instead of resorting to cheap tactics and/or blaming others and lashing out or making pathetic excuses. I'm tired of hearing, "I only play like/say/do this because they do/say/play like that." It's a stupid, nonsensical circle of poo. Knock it off. <3

  • I know how you feel. I have an Xbox One X and get massive frame drops constantly, input lag, crashes, etc.. With every update, performance gets worse. I've made several threads, here and on Steam in the past, and tweeted them and not even once have I gotten a response. Not even an auto-reply/copy pasta type of response; nothing.
I dread the massive amount of bugs and lag that'll come with this new killer... Unfortunate, considering I'm really looking forward to playing her/against her but I can't even play killer on console because my frames are even worse.

I understand the Devs not responding to people mentioning dedicated servers because they've made it clear that they have no interest in getting any. Spending a large amount of money on servers doesn't benefit them at all, even though it would drastically improve the game's performance and enjoyment.

At this point, all I want it to be able to run this game while getting 30 fps, something I don't feel is an unrealistic expectation...
Here's hoping that the devs get better about communication and also that we get an optimization patch soon...
  • I like Wolf's idea. Seems like a small, easy change that would help a lot.
  • Well, I just went against a Myers with tombstone, memorial and tinkerers who killed me a few minutes into the match. I reeaaaaally hate when mirror or tombstone is combined with memorial and tinkerers---I don't even know why that's possible... At least it's not too common.

The reason survivors sometimes don't gen rush when someone is being camped is that it's really hard to accept 2 things:
    1. That your gameplay experience is just going to be AFK gen rushing---no altruism, hardly any chase, etc.-it's VERY boring. Not to mention, literally pointless. As in, you get fewer points---everyone gets fewer points with this method.
    2. One of your teammates (whoever was hooked first) just doesn't get to play the game. Sometimes I'll let someone sit on the hook until the last part and take their place so they have a chance to get some points.

Anyway, my person opinion on tunneling/camping:

Tunneling is a strategy I understand---especially when the game is going too fast and you're trying to secure some points/pip/rank or you're just not good at catching and hooking people, so you know you probably won't get a kill otherwise.
Camping is kinda lazy and pretty boring excepting a few situations:
    1. if you know there are people right there, waiting for you to step 2ft away so they can save,
    2. if it's endgame and you gotta make a play and hope to catch 1 more,
    3. if they are the Dying Light obsession, etc.,
    4. if they were toxic towards you,
    5. if the game is going incredibly fast [stupid BNP(s)],
    6. and for the memes, ok?

Personally, I make it a rule to not camp when I play killer and I try not to hook the same person twice in a row (but I will down them if I catch them), and I absolutely won't hook the same person in a row if it's their death hook.
I PIP in probably half or more of my games but I'll admit that it's very difficult sometimes, playing with these personal rules, and I still get hate messages occasionally.
But, as someone who plays a lot of survivor: it's REALLY not fun VSing a camping killer. Even tunneling can suck if you're unlucky, or the killer is massively more skillful than you are, OR (as is the case a lot) you have a toxic SWF team being useless---or just bad/newb teammates in general and nothing is getting done while you're out there getting fk'd on.

I guess at the end of the day, what I really want to say is:
    _1. Slow down gen progress
    2. Give a little nerf to SC
    3. destroy remove balance DS
    4. Deincentivise camping---slower death progress when killer is in x meter range? or make chasing people give more points? not sure tbh_

    > 5. make the game scary again for survivors

    1. _maybe reward methods of play that extend the game or even offer extra bp if the game lasts longer than a certain time, idfk_

I may not have the perfect solution but there's an abundance of complaints on both sides and they are all pretty valid tbh. I just think you can't expect players to play a certain way unless you address the main issues forcing them to play that way...
I probably don't have good answers, I'm just a player that experiences a lot of frustration with this game on a regular basis. But, I do love it. Soooo much. :')

This is one of the best posts I've seen on this forum. Kudos <3

Thanks, I try to be fair and considerate to both "sides" but the toxicity and division of the community makes it hard to care sometimes lol.
  • I actually don't think we need this. There's nothing you need to say at the end of the game. I just msg the killer gg and teammates too if they played well. It's easy.

i´ts harder to pip as a survivor than a killer ???? This is not true...def. not

Not since the recent patch maybe but yes, it was harder to PIP as survivor. That's precisely why the values for survivor score events were tweaked so much.
I was and am consistently able to PIP as killer without even going for kills. If you camp, you probably will find it difficult to pip as killer. Otherwise, it's not that hard.

Killers expect you to hide and gain distance from them, not run around in circles and exploit a poorly implemented game mechanic. It's not an alien concept since this is a hide and seek game.

While I agree with your main point, I do feel the need to point out:
You can't simply hide the entire game, you have to work on gens and help your team which puts you at risk, rightfully so. You can try to be smart about it and duck around a corner if you think they are coming your way, but most killers know to check the area and there's a lot of stealth killers/builds and detection perks at their disposal, as well.
Once you've been found, you can't hide and, unless you have a SB perk, you can't gain distance. So you have no choice but to use the environment to try to delay capture/get away. If you don't---if you simply run in a straight line, and avoid using pallets---even with SB, you will go down so fast which greatly hinders your team and reduces your chances of survival.
Hiding while in a chase, even with Urban Evasion, Lightweight, Iron Will and/or Quick & Quiet (which aren't commonly used perks), is still difficult and a percentage of the success is luck based.
Gaining distance and trying to make them lose sight of you is all well and good except you have to run in order to do that which leaves a huge "follow me" trail behind you so it's also partially luck based.
Pallet (and window) looping is the only thing you can do sometimes, and a good killer (or certain ones like Nurse, Huntress, Doctor, Trapper, Clown/anyone with a 1-shot) will counter you anyway. It's just a matter of when unless you're a really good survivor.

I understand the frustration of pallet looping as I also play killer and it can get really annoying but they've already given killers BL and you have a stun reduction perk as well as one which lets you break pallets faster. They nerfed pallets, and are about to nerf them again. So, I don't think it's worth bringing up over and over.
There are far bigger problems like the massive imbalance between SWF and solo players (in which case the solo player continuously gets screwed, right along with the killer), and the imbalance of perks such as SC, DS, and SB, and also camping.
Personally, I think there should be 2 lobbies, with 2 different set of rules: casual and ranked. I also think SWF should be a separate queue which is balanced differently to avoid further screwing over the solo players and it should have limitations. Of course, they'd have to give heavy incentives to the killers who willingly queue against SWF, but those are just some ideas I have.

correct me if I'm worng but when the hell was playing stealthy and doing gens not possible at the same time?

I missed the part where I said it wasn't possible.
Are you referring to me saying you can't hide from killer while working on a gen? I follow it up by mentioning that you can infact stealth play when he comes towards you...
  • I think the emblem system is fine. Just fine. Not great, not horrible, but fine.

I'll admit that it's hard to get Benevolence with so many killers camping. Even if they aren't camping, you have to race other survivors to the hook. It's also hard to get Lightbringer because you have to race your teammates and afk gen rushing is boring af. As an example, I did 1 and 1/2 gens on my own and the other 1 with someone else and opened a gate and still got Silver Lightbringer---despite participating in half of the objectives. Logic???
Evader can be hard if the killer is just bad or heavily focusing on someone else. It seems like you get punished for playing stealthily and escaping unscathed rather than rewarded.
All that being said, it's a huge improvement on the killer side, imo.

Good news is: this is all pointless because they have addressed most of those issues and tweaked the numbers in the upcoming patch and it should help balance out the scoring values, making it a little easier to PIP---especially for survivors. I'm excited about it because I'm tired of seeing a 17k score with a +0 rank...

  • The biggest problem I have with discussions about game balance, besides how toxic people get toward each other, is that most of the considerations are done with SWF and high rank in mind. The problem is that I don't think a majority of the players are in rank 1~8 and I'd say there's just as many regular solo players as there are people who regularly group up. Constantly applying crappy band-aid fixes to the game just because SWF players at rank 1 can be cancerous is not improving the game's experience for most players, overall.

    Gens are done too quickly.
    SC needs a little nerf.
SB needs a little nerf. Personally, with Lithe, BL and DH, I don't even see a need for SB but I understand that they probably won't remove it. They could rework it a little though.
DS should be removed or balanced. This is probably the biggest thing I've seen killer mains complain about and it needs to be addressed.
SWF needs to be fixed, somehow. Maybe give the killers a choice to vs SWF and increase their rewards for doing so? Maybe have casual and ranked lobbies and only allow SWF in casual lobbies. Idk, something has to be done though and more importantly, something _can be done. Maybe it can't be completely balanced, but make it hurt a little less for killers lol._
Killers should be incentivized not to camp. Maybe make the dying progress on the hook take a little longer if a killer is nearby, or give them much more points the longer a game goes on, or really increase the points from finding and chasing survivors and patrolling gens. Once again, Idk, these are just thoughts.

Other stuff like pallet looping is continuously being addressed so I hope that's a sign they will get to SC, DS, SB and SWF sooner rather than later.
Flashlights have been addressed---it's now next to impossible for the average player to regularly land the blind/stun on killers and don't get me started on the immunity frames killers get while picking up on a pallet and how inconsistent the pallet stuns/flashlight blinds are if you even manage the -1 sec timing in the first place.
Seriously, the amount of times killers just don't get stunned when someone slams a pallet is staggering.
Just the other day I was able to swing and hit someone while they threw the pallet down right on me and I didn't drop the survivor. On the other side of things, I watched someone perfectly time the pallet while I was being picked up and it just moved the killer to the other side. (???)
Patch 1.9.2 was a joke. It addressed something that I think should have been addressed but it did so very, very poorly. It was almost like they put no thought into it at all. They should've decreased the crap out of the pick-up animation, only make killers vulnerable to the pallet stun for the last half of the animation, and they needed to make flashlight useage increase so you couldn't use it more than 2-3 times a game (or even less) for that patch to have been viable. But, I do agree that immunity frames in this game is super lame.

  • One thing that annoys me about the screams when someone is being hooked:
They sound like they are singing sh*tty opera. Like, there's no way you have that much air in your lungs after being sliced/smacked and hauled to a hook on a killer's shoulder, all while struggling...
It should sound grimmer and less cheesy I think. It goes on for too long too. The pain of having a rusty old meat hook shoved through your body might make you scream but it would also overwhelm you to a degree.
TL;DR: The original one does sound grating to the ears, but the new one is like... wut? o.o

  • I enjoy playing with my friends but I'm conflicted because I know SWF on comms is unbalanced and unfun (for the killer) and it forces the killer to adapt playstyles that many consider toxic. I know they'd never remove SWF but they gotta do something to make it less cancer for the killers.

Sadly, a lot of the killers that I think are actually spooky to go against aren't that strong.
Wraith and Freddy are just sad. Hag and Pig are ok but need some tweaking. Myers is probably the only one that's actually balanced. I love playing VS him and as him. If only he had cosmetics...

    3. Get to madness one while he is chasing somebody else. It takes much longer to reach madness two then it does to reach madness one.
    4. Seeing the decoys is an add on.
    5. Git Gud

    Basically, this^
I think the Dr is incredibly annoying to go against. I have a problem with the sensory overload.
Even when I play as him (which I do to farm pts or for dailies), I'm annoyed at all of the constant audio interruptions.
I wish tier 1 wasn't instant because I feel like this actually hurts the Doc more than it helps.
I wish you didn't scream while you're down on the ground (free Deerstalker).
I wish you didn't constantly hear static as a survivor---God, that is annoying.
I don't really think it's necessary to have the skill checks pop up somewhere else AND shake around. Most Docs use Distressing+Unnerving and usually have Hex: Ruin or Overcharge, so I do think that's overkill.

But, honestly, he's not OP. I actually think he's under Nurse, Billy and Huntress, and maybe Myers, Idk. He's just REALLLLY annoying.
