  • Everyone is entitled to play the game their own way. Key words: play the game. DCing/Suiciding on first hook is NOT playing the game - it's removing yourself from play. It's hilarious a lot of these posts are echoing "Play how I want" as a defense for not playing at all. Your objective is to survive - period. If you don't want to survive, don't queue up...don't play. It's really that simple.

Now, how can the devs fix this or recognize intent? You're right, they can't recognize intent. They can, however, change game mechanics to reduce the survivors' ability to exit the game on their terms. The only reason you should be exiting the game is A) You were hooked 2-3 times by the killer, B) The EGC killed you, C) You escaped.

The SOLUTION: Remove the struggle mechanic. You can Attempt in Stage 1 as normal, it will get you to Stage 2 faster. However in Stage 2 you must bleed out on the hook, you can no longer let go.

How does this fix it? Well, it's easier to detect intent and record a player not moving or running around the map griefing by throwing pallets down. It is NOT easy to detect intent from struggle phase. So just get rid of that mechanic altogether.

  • This is why we can't have nice things.

You have a CM saying it's impossible to add horror elements to a horror game. Like, CMs communicate to the Devs ... I dunno, maybe talk to them about this community concern and make some new dynamic elements to the maps that keep things scary? It's not my job to come up with ideas but if you wanted to Make DBD Scary Again, you could. Easily. Shake up things a lot. Maybe after you're done with Dedicated Servers and The Archives.

It's really telling when NOED is one of the few "OMG" things remaining that make even experienced survivors piss themselves over. Try adding cobbwebs, spiders, louder crow sounds, darker maps (next to no light), no heartbeat/red stain perma mode, map specific ambience, why doesn't the Clown map have things at the circus that pop out of the ground? Why not on Disturbed Ward you can't hear mentally ill patients screaming? Or on the Lery's Institute people in pain? The Game you could hear people being tortured?

Do like League of Legends. You can't play another match until the one you abandoned is over. And the more you DC, the longer your time penalty is.

In League, if you AFK or DC from a match, you have to wait for 5 minutes before you're even allowed to jump into a queue. And then it goes up from there until you have to wait 30 minutes before you're even allowed to queue up.

BVHR would do well to start with a DC punishment system like this. It's much less severe than handing out suspensions and a better way to handle it.

Also suiciding on first hook is just as bad as DC.

  • Why does a Spirit who is phase walking have collision? She's a ~spirit~ she should go through you...

She already has breathing, injured sounds, grass sounds, scratch marks, and depending on addons bloodstains. She does not need collision while using her power. It's supposed to be a 'mindgame', right?

  • I don't think buffing solo survivors to match SWF is what should happen. SWF power levels are much higher.

I think SWF should be nerfed, if anything. Solo survivor is the true experience the devs wanted and ended up caving in to add SWF when people threw their arms up because they couldn't play with their friends.

    "Slight changes"

Another of those "awesome good survivormade" ideas we killers unjustly lobby against.

Its good that the devs dont listen to this caliber of survivors... Most of the times.

My opinion isn't any less valid than yours, I have just as many hours (probably more, tbh) playing both sides to R1. This isn't an "us vs them" issue. This is a fun issue.

The fundamental issue with Nurse is her base power, it offers unparalleled mobility at inconsequential cost and ignores the developers' own map design. Imagine creating maps and just saying f it, our maps suck so let's come out with a killer who ignores our map design. That's The Nurse. She doesn't play by survivor rules, by other killer rules, and not even by the developers' rules. And because of that last one - she's a design failure.

  • Every time a Nurse thread appears the answer is "Use Stealth, she's a different kind of killer" Well, no. You can stealth and 360 ANY killer. Stealth and Mindgaming isn't any more effective at losing the Nurse or getting gens done in a game that is with the Nurse since her MOBILITY is so high she can be anywhere in mere seconds. That's not counterplay specific to the Nurse. Her Mobility is not "poor tracking capabilities" either.

If you are stealthed, you are immobile. If she is blinking, she is scouting rapidly. She will find you. In several maps, Whispers basically pings your exact location if the killer has any idea how to play. But Nurse's mobility is so ridiculous that Whispers is just extra.

Speaking of Stealth, bold points and chase emblems are part of the game and killer-survivor interactions are the spirit of the game. It can be fun to hide for a time, but that should NOT mean the second you are found you are downed without a chance. But that's what happens when facing competent Nurses. That's what happened when facing Old Legion. You being downed felt inevitable, like there was nothing you could've done better.

  • You singled out Freddy, but there's nothing easy about the rest of the killers I mentioned. They're the base of what strong killers should be. They can end chases fast but also have clear weaknesses. Hillbilly can be anywhere on the map in an instant but is stopped by loops. Hag sets up fast, unsuspecting traps that can put her anywhere on the map but also can be destroyed. Huntress can snipe people across the map. Spirit has legitimate mindgames that works both ways.

"Mindgaming" isn't a clear weakness on Nurse. She sees exactly where she's going. You juke the blink once, twice, maybe even three times and the Nurse is still on your tail two seconds later amidst blood marks, scratch marks, groaning, and regular breathing. Two seconds isn't enough time to lose her. There's no reason to stop 2 feet behind a wall you backtracked, that doesn't work against good Nurses. She'll know you didn't run away or she just has Whispers.

Nobody in the red ranks play Stealth, why ? Because it's boring. You can do it , yeah, but no one wants 40 minute matches even if they're winnable. It's boring to play like that. The chase is what's exciting in this game and keeps players queuing up for more. Interaction between survivors and killers is what players actually want. Which is why Nurse is comparable to Old Legion. Old Legion had no enjoyable interaction with survivors.

  • Nerf her base power so that she can only blink in the open. She can't blink through walls or through floors. Maybe even remove blink through obstacles.

It'd still be a strong power given Doctor, Leatherface, and Clown exist.

  • I have 2500 hours. When I play Nurse, it's exactly like that video. All the way to Rank 1. When I go against other Nurses, it's exactly like the video posted above. Landing precise blinks on survivors from far away isn't difficult and it isn't particularly different to master. Survivors are extremely immobile. And you can do this consistently without addons.

For those saying to 'get good' this isn't even a skill-based or competitive game. The devs are focused on making things fun (Which is why red addons exist for both sides). The Nurse does NOT fit in the Fun category. She doesn't fit in the Skill category. And she's not scary. The Nurse is just broken and goes against everything Dead by Daylight is supposed to be about.

  • So, Old Legion was fixed ASAP because him chasing you was an inevitability that you would go down no matter what you chose to do. This is NOT fun. The Nurse works exactly like this, if not worse. A blink power is broken in a game where the other side's power is simply their ability to move left, right, forward, or back.

  • Give more counter play to Nurse. Most killers in this game have a charge bar on their power (Spirit, Plague, Ghostface, Myers, Legion, etc.) or type of currency (Trapper, Hag, Huntress, Clown, Pig) that far exceeds nurse fatigue of 2 seconds. Mobility = Strongest killer, Nurse has the most mobility therefore Nurse = strongest killer. Not only that but she ignores walls/obstacles on the map completely. And for this amazing power, she trades 5% less speed than other killers and 2 sec stun. Currently the nurse player has no real punishment for a missed blink.

There should be stronger counterplay, allowing survivors to break chase after juking the blink, as well as nurse players having to make smarter decisions on when to use their blink power and when not to.

Hopefully the 2019 roadmap, with map reworks and shorter riskier loops, indicates they're focused on the 'generators are too fast' solution + a Nurse nerf will come along with the nerf to survivors.

  • @SomeIssues Looks like you're not doing your job as a killer, which is #1 Pressure the survivors. You're off staring in a random room in Lery's it looks like. No wonder the survivors feel no hurry to leave.

This is the kind of killer the devs are catering to SMH. It's your job to create pressure to the point no pallets are left, you eventually kill survivors, or they're forced to leave. Seriously, you have all the power. They cannot hit you back.

@ZombieGirlORV You are correct. The EGC does not promote altruism which is hilarious as solo survivors had issues already with altruism before the EGC. Now we're better off just performing ZERO altruistic actions once the exit gates are opened. The risk is simply too high and the reward is too low. The EGC would be more aptly named "Every Man For Himself."

  • @Herbie Pretty much your post is spot on. Previously, the killer could slug the 3rd survivor to bait out the 4th survivor and there was some skill involved if he wanted the 4K. Now he's pretty much guaranteed a 4K if he's Nurse/Billy and your team is completely crap. Previously, if your team was complete crap you could at least do two objectives and gain a chance at escape. Now....Every game mechanic and teammate screws you over? Well, too bad because people on here like @ShyN3ko will tell you to just play better and find the hatch first as if its a fair race. Because the hatch spawn location is totally not luck at all and there's a lot you can do to make sure you get there first. /S

You failed, you deserved to die. Lolz. The end!

  • the Broken Key needs to be changed. it's the only useless item in the game. it feels really bad finding one in a box.

an item shouldn't need addons just to be able to do anything.

  • Alert doesn't tell me information that is immediately relevant. Prefer Aftercare or Bond.

Tbh, reading the killer's aura just doesn't help me. I'm not afraid of killers or going down in a chase...I'm not in a 1v1 to win.

Basically picture the DLCs as a bundle discount. If you get everything from the DLC, you save a little and get an extra cosmetic. If you only play killer, for example, and you don't care about the survivor one bit, you could also save yourself some money by buying only the killer for AC.

You say theres an extra cosmetic... I dont see one? Could you name the cosmetic you get for each bundle?

The cosmetics are the alternative outfits for the survivors. The Auric Cell versions only come with a single outfit (the one they're wearing by default).

So for Feng Min, for example, that would be her weekend clothes.

This stuff should be on the Steam store pages for those DLCs. I don't understand why Curtain Call lists an exclusive Kate cosmetic and the other two don't..... well I do, before you used to always buy the DLCs.

The other 2 (Feng and Ace) need to be updated so customers know what they are purchasing or if they want to use shards/auric.
