Yes of course but if the game is not fun for many people (balance, bugs, unfun playstyles for someone, etc.) people will not want to play or will be angry/frustraited on the game.
Imagine getting stunned right after a Nurse blink and the millisecond your power recharges it bugs out spamming an infinite amount of Nurse breathing while trying to activate her power. Yes this game can be very fun sometimes.

The same logic can be used against you. All you have to do is hold W and press M1..
If you want a legit response, dont downplay the other side first.
Except the "press M1" part will never come as an M1 killer, thanks to infinite loops, killer shack, safe pallets where the person can just vault over left and right, all the second chance perks, flashlight, etc etc... By the time I reasonably down one survivor with an M1 killer, 1 or 2 gens already popped and we are talking about maybe 60 seconds here. That's 40% of the game finished for the survivors already. As a Nurse I VERY OFTEN down the first survivor before the first gen even pops and that's because she is fast and freaking lethal when used right.
And I'm not downplaying the other side, I'm saying the truth here. I play a lot of survivors too, inarguably with friends so I'm part of the SWF problem. But honestly unless we go against a god-sniper huntress or a good Nurse, we escape ALMOST all the time. Some games have been so stupidly easy, I am starting to believe killers are actually extremely weak in this game. The only times we do not escape is if I just mess around with stupid builds. But once I put on the meta to complete a rift challenge or just to escape, we escape. Because gens fly.
Not to mention that survivors have an abundance of resources when it comes to item add-ons that speed up everything. Especially BNP which can effectively battle Tinkerer and honestly, as an experienced survivor it's really not that hard to hit two great skill checks lmao.
Survivors don't need more resources, there is already a lot. Flashies, med-kits, toolboxes, aura reading keys, lockers, pallets, window vaults, perks that help you with speed, healing, gen repairs, tricky escapes, etc etc... But a lot of people only learned one meta and they run that all the time because there is no balanced variety in the game. DH, BT, IW, DS is inarguably the strongest and will be the strongest build forever unless changes around the flow of gameplay are made so that it's not only worthless to run those perks in conjunction, but just straight up stupid.
And why do we even have SBMM in an ASYMMETRICAL HORROR SURVIVAL GAME??? That was literally the worst mistake to add into this game.

I've been playing a lot of Killer and I have to tell you that while I'm having the time of my life with Nurse trashing almost everytime, I want to strangle myself whenever I try to play an M1 killer. Hag, Nurse, Spirit, Blight, even Billy with Brutal Strength, Enduring can somewhat deny loops for survivors, but I try to play anything else and unless I bring a loop-denying build, I have no chance with M1 killers at all. It's just absolutely frustrating to play anything else other than Nurse, Blight or Hag right now. Hell even Huntress can be bad sometimes, because she slows down to the walking pace of a snail when she readies her hatchet.
And this is all because survivors rely too much on looping as it is a braindead tactic basically. All you have to do is hold #########, W and A or D and wait for the right moment to press E to dab forward like a cringy kid and drop a pallet to then tbag in front of the killer. Majority of the survivors have no brain capacity when it comes to making intriguing builds.
Why is Shift a bad word?

No problem, go get those adepts :)
Nevermind It's still impossible to get merciless. When gens pop 30 seconds into the game even on Ash IV, there is not a single chance I can get it, especially with how some perks are absolutely trash for some killers. Funny thing is, I 4K'd with Myers on Ormond once with 3 gens still standing... That gatekeeping alone should have been iri... nope... gold emblem... robbed of my merciless just like that.
I stopped trying, getting merciless is just absolutely impossible on killers, it's an ass achievement... Revert it to 4K, that alone with current gen speed and the meta builds is very difficult to achieve.

The survivors you go against will be the same, but the emblems will be a lot more forgiving.
Are you saying that on Ash 4 getting merciless will be way easier than on Iridescent 1?

They should dedicate an entire chapter to bugfixing, there are so many goddamn issues in this game right now, most are game-breaking also.
-
If survivors clearly win and are better at the game, they can do sound notifs and tbagging as much as they wish, I don't give two shits about it. If they obviously won (e.g. 2 hook states only and the exit gates are powered) I just open the gate, go into the corner and force them out of the game.
What I find incredibly insulting and rude is that they have to spam you with messages in the end-game chat "gg ez, noob killer, good looping grandpa, yade-yade-yada". Remember kids, words can hurt more than a fist to the face, you don't know what someone else is going through and they just want to distract themselves with a game they enjoy. Best not to bully them in said game also. :)
INB4 ANY SELF-PROCLAIMED MATHIEU COTE COMES IN HERE AND SAYS "JUST PLAY ANOTHER GAME IF YOU CAN'T BEAR THE INSULTS":
Just stop... What if the person actively enjoys playing the game ITSELF, but the community is just forcing them to rip out all their hair from all the insults and bullying.
It legit takes people 0 amount of time, effort and money to write a nice message saying "ggwp, was fun game" or anything similar. Don't live out your own insecurities on some stranger on the internet because you are the victim of domestic abuse in your school/work/home.
Grow the ######### up and act like an adult.
Alright I gave it my two cents, time to have all the salty people on the forum reply with "Someone had a bad day in DbD, oh poor you cry me a river, etc etc..." Toxicity disappoints me and amuses all at the same time. :)
-
It is still bugged on my end, I tried with Nurse and Doctor, thought I kept losing chases with the Nurse when I blink and attack, but it's definitely bugged.

Just to clarify, Shadow Step doesn't heal survivors, that's a different boon perk. It's just that when the survivor has both Shadow Step and Circle of Healing then their one Boon totem they make does both. (Each survivor can only maintain one boon totem at a time.) But yeah, when you've got four survivors all putting up that same Boon totem with both effects then that's a lot of the map where they won't leave scratch marks or have auras.
I guess if you are seeing this frequently maybe try:
- Don't bother using any perks or add-ons that rely on auras. No Nurse's Calling, no BBQ and Chili, no Surveillance or Thrilling Tremors, etc. If you don't use auras in the first place then that part of their Boon is useless.
- If you need help tracking without scratch marks, consider maybe trying one of the aura-less tracking perks like Stridor, Whispers, Spies from the Shadows or Bloodhound. Obviously auras are more accurate but these other perks don't use them so aren't impacted by the Boon. (Bloodhound is one that's interesting to me here also because, if they're trying to use the Boons for healing, the Bloodhound perk might help you stay on their trail before they can get a chance to heal themselves with the help of that Boon.)
- Another option is go for abilities and perks and add-ons that Expose the survivors or down them in one hit. If you can down survivors in one hit it won't matter as much if they heal back from injured states.
- Another possibility is try something like Coulrophobia or Sloppy Butcher of Dying Light that makes it take longer for them to heal. Since you know they're going to be enticed to run to their Boons to do self-healing you can make that action take longer than normal, which means they're spending that much additional time self-healing versus working on generators.
- Finally Hex: Haunted Grounds might be worth considering as an anti-Boon perk. Survivors will definitely be looking for totems to bless and will be even quicker than usual to trigger Haunted Grounds, so you may be able to get a couple quick downs early in the match with it. Maybe even pair it with Undying, especially since every time you snuff out a blessing you recover a dull totem that Undying can use as a jump target for other hexes.
I'm just spitballing out loud, but off-hand those are the things I can think of that might be worth experimenting with. 🤷♂️
Sorry I meant Shadow Step is Distortion and Lucky Break in one package, and Circle of Healing is a glorified Self-Care, but I doubt any Mikaela would run CoH without Shadow Step.

This game is going downhill FAAAAAST

I really don't know how to feel about that Built To Last buff. I use Built to Last frequently as a survivor, it really came in clutch in some situations where I had to quickly finish a gen or heal myself with an almost depleted med-kit. I saw nothing wrong with that perk, but those buffs scare me as a killer. Built To Last on a purple toolbox with extra charges will be a pain to play against. Gens will pop in the first 4 minutes of the game, how is a killer even supposed to keep gen pressure against that? Or purple med-kits with extra charges, good luck playing against 12 speedy heals on 4 survivors.
Items the survivors bring will now last for the entirety of the trial with Built To Last. I do not agree of that change, everything else seems pretty good, imo. I don't play DeathSlinger so cannot comment on that.

The only "nerf" I can think of would be artificially increasing the effective MMR of the group so that they get matched against more skilled killers who can better handle the survivors' coordination.
Example: 2 man group gets their combined MMR increased by 10%;
3 man group gets their combined MMR increased by 20%;
4 man group gets their combined MMR increased by 30%
Maybe not those exact numbers, but something like it would be pretty fair imo.
I agree with this change. I play SWF often and often find the games ridiculously easy because we have coordination and call out killer location, hex totems, etc through Discord. A less-skilled killer who cannot end chases in seconds or mind-game effectively, will most definitely lose against a well coordinated team. On the other hand I am currently dreading to play DbD during evening time as a killer, because that's when most SWF groups are online. I noticed that during the evening time, I get matches where it's 70% 4-man escape, 20% 1-2K and 10% 3-4K games.
I got to Gold 2, almost Gold 1 in a single week as a survivor while playing with friends. I've been playing killer for 2 weeks and I'm only Silver 3.
You can see the gap there, currently matchmaking is unbalanced and doesn't take into account the co-ordination and effectiveness of SWF groups. I do believe that an increased MMR skill pool for SWFs would be the ideal solution. Killers who are less experienced could have consistently fun games, while SWFs get the challenge of outplaying much smarter, experienced killers.
EDIT: But then again, I've seen survivors killing themselves on first hook or straight up giving up to decrease their MMR so they will have much less experienced killers to match against, especially if they are playing with friends who like to challenge themselves or planned it in a way that their MMR average will match them against less experienced killers that they can bully. Doesn't matter what kind of system is implemented into the game, there will always be an exploit and people will use it sadly :)
I've been in matches where I see two Ash rank players then all of a sudden two Iridescent players. It's not uncommon.

Hey dude, if you want to learn the Nurse, depip, even in 5-9 ranks it would be nightmarish to learn her.
Also the good ol' classic Ruin/Undying/Tinkerer will be your friend to have longer games and free chases.
And about ranking/MMR, the current system is """not""" that bad. Let me explain.
It provides more or less short queue time, as you can be with/against players with possibly a big difference of level (stronger, or easier). As there is not that much players, this is possible that there is not that much people with the same amount of "skill score" (MMR/ELO), so, depending of your score, you can meet a "desert" playerbase interval, where you would wait for an incredibly long time to have a match.
Plus, the stronger you'll get as a survivor, the lesser the diversity of killers you'll meet, because there are some killers that are way stronger and viable than others.
As a survivor, I don't want to face only God Nurse, Stridor Spirit, Forever Freddy, Slug Master Oni, Shadow Clone Jutsu Hag, with the same top tier meta perks. I like to meet Demo Boi, Ding Dong Wraith [...], with sometimes fun builds that will outplay you because you didn't expect some perks.
As a killer, I don't want to face only sweaty SWF, Prove Thyself, OoO, Borrowed Time, Adrenaline, all Medikit and Toolbox, and sometimes Keys, hatch offering and map offering. These games are unfun, you'll get spitted on the face at the end of the match and during the match.
Because this is what would be red ranks if an actual and efficient MMR system replaces the current rank system.
Dead By Daylight is a casual game, a cool asymmetrical game. Sure there are some people that gets crazy good at it, but it has NOT to become an hardcore tryhard game like StarCraft, Overwatch, LoL, ...
And even with an actual MMR system, it won't stop teams or people to lose game to lower their skill scores, and stomp on weaker players.
The problem with trying to fix matchmaking is that it won't fix the notorious SWFs who sometimes come with low-rank friends to bully low-rank killers. Doesn't matter how foolproof they are trying to make a system, it can always be exploited in some ways. De-pipping, smurfing, SWF with low-rank friends will always be a thing and no system can outplay that.
Let killers queue without getting into a SWF lobby, make it an option in the settings. That way maybe the killers will get more games, where there is an actual chance at winning and not getting completely demolished by high-ranking SWFs.
EDIT: And if, full 4-man SWF groups start complaining about long queues, just find that one last friend and play KYF matches xD ffs you have all the perks and add-ons there, you can have fun as much as you want, some of us just want to make some actual bloodpoints and level up killers without having to do it the grindy way.
-
Please leave BBQ & Chili alone, it is the only perk that helps me level up killers. I want my bloodpoints kthxbye.
-
Being a rank 7 or 8 is the worst. Constant red ranks who do literally everything to make the game as annoying as possible. Notification distraction, body blocking, genrushing, I am literally just trying to level up killers but with the teams I am getting it's near impossible and I get out with less than 18k bloodpoints every round. Not even enough to go up a level. It's ######### grindy, abysmal and a misery to play killers now.
Either fix the matchmaking or separate ranks into each killers, survs, w.e...
Playing games are now just an annoyance rather than fun, because I get absolutely ######### demolished every round. I literally have to camp endgame to AT LEAST get 1K or 2K and people hate me for it, rightfully. Because I have no chance in winning a single game when I face 1 or 2 red ranks every round. Playing killer is not fun unless I start to de-pip madly which is a bannable offence afaik.

I hate this perk so much, please rework it. I love it when I play well throughout the whole match but as soon as EGC starts and I don’t know I’m exposed, I get downed and die on first hook. NOED is up there with Iron Will, Dead Hard, and old DS for my least favorite perks to go against.
I would only change one little thing for NOED. As soon as EGC starts the prompt comes up if NOED activates and the exposed status comes up. Being it a surprise hex perk is kinda annoying I agree, but the endgame punishment for not cleansing totems is a fair point.
Like every survivor these days are running DH, DS, Unbreakable, IW, BT, all the meta perks that don't really contribute to gen work or co-op work. As someone said before, Detective's Hunch and Small Game will make totem hunting very simple while doing gens and avoiding the killer, on SWF you can even relay info to your teammates. If it's a well co-ordinated game, the killer will get zero value out of NOED and you will even get 5k plus bloodpoints for cleansing totem. Survivors, STOP trying to nerf this game into a solo survivor experience and START working together to get out on the winning side. The point of being a survivor is being a teamplayer and contributing to the game.
I'm looking at you self-caring in the corner Blendettes with Iron Will, Lightweight, Self-care, Botany!

Because they think killers are dumb enough to get titled and chase them. All they're doing is showing that they are because a decent killer will know to ignore them until last. Same with flashlights clickers, you ignore them and go for the ones on the gens.
Actually I started running Franklin's Demise on Leatherface and when I see a flashlight user, I go for them and hit them with an M1, because they expect me to chainsaw down them. The amount of times it worked and seeing their desperation to try and get the flashlight back to then fail horribly is amusing, I laugh at that so much sometimes. Some survivors put their lives on their items and when they lose it, there goes half their skill set hahaha.

Haha thanks man, sounds like it. I guess one part of playing DbD is trying to figure out players. Then mindgaming becomes a strong adversary for them.

It gets killers who don't want to back down from a challenge to chase them, but IMHO, leaving them is usually smart because I don't do what the survivors want me to do. Or better yet, take chase, and then go the opposite direction from where he leads me, as you'll usually find someone on a gen
Exactly my thoughts. It becomes a predictable pattern. Worked for me too so far.

Yes, its winds up killers, so much so that one will write a post on a forum about it. Mission accomplished.

So you think I wrote it out of anger and not curiosity? How did you come to this conclusion? :o
-
I guess. But so far I have yet to see a game where the 1 good survivor actually makes the whole team benefit from this. So far it hasn't happened. And when it happens, it's all red ranks SWF or high purple SWF. It happened but only a few times.
-
Tell me about it. Matchmaking is abysmal, how is this fair?
