No to saying who's in swf.
The Randoms will be tunneled and camped.
Unless they implement a system like Choy suggested.
-
I love how Scott's argument for why Pentimeno is fine is also his argument for why dh isn't.

I'm happy I still have my Zanshin Tactics - I'm fine with that change.
Honestly I'm pretty fine overall with the update although I absolutely understand it's very polarizing this time.
Truth be told I won't be excited for a balance update until I see either Freddy or Myers in the changelog.
Predator with PWYF will be nice as Myers.

People can't maintain a consistent argument against bloodlust. First, it's unfair; then it's a solution to an issue that no longer exists. If you're hitting Bloodlust 2 or 3 consistently, you're "trash" or new, and now it's unfun for the survivors. You're not supposed to be able to outplay the killer for that long. Again, Dead by Daylight is an asymmetrical horror game. An individual survivor should be significantly weaker than a killer. Your issue seems to lie more in your inability to employ team-centric thinking than in the bloodlust mechanic itself. It's crazy that survivor mains need to be reminded that DBD isn't a one-on-one game, and each survivor has three hook states and there are four survivors in a match—that's a lot of chases for the killer. If you want a 1v1 game, maybe try some mini-games on Roblox.
Asymmetrical does not mean one side should win more than the other. It means either opponents have separate roles to play.
I played alot of Dying Light Be the Zombie b4 DbD came out where there is 1 "Killer" and 4 "Survivors".
No one there argued the zombie should win by default because no one wants to play a game where you get outplayed/handheld just by picking a side.

Darn.

Bloodlust is a bandaid fix to infinites.
Now that those don't exist, they can remove the bandaid. Wound healed.

If the killer doesn’t chase you there then they are islands of safety you can run to from anywhere on the map using the speed boost when hit and reset/heal there.
If everyone runs there when injured then killer has to commit at some point gen done or not, as otherwise injuring creates no pressure.
Only way those structures hold their strength is if the killer keeps respecting pallets and survivors greed.
Once pallets are gone, the loop is broken to be half it's strength if that.
Would be better to just hold w to a loop that still has resources.

Those chases have little to no difference with any new map changes. At best, the biggest difference is the school, but all that would change is visibility blocks in the hallways which, imho, is a survivor buff making it easier to break LOS from the killer. I still loop fine in "modern" DBD map design, so saying looping "isn't a thing" anymore is just isn't true (which is what the OP is saying). I could provide day-old chases, but there's no reason to go through the effort - looping is still a thing and still viable. I personally find looping easier due to the variety of loop perks now available. The infinites had little to do with looping and more about taking advantage of a broken map design which was of course fixed.
If you "seriously" thing that a month old footage is no longer relevant, here's some fresh ones. This one is just silly, I'll admit, but fun nonetheless.
https://youtu.be/tgTqpIn7jYo?si=M5LdRhx876TBjeUO
Dracula's on this one, so you know it's new. Works
Looping certainly isn't a thing from the past, as the OP claims.
Using main buildings as an example for how looping is still viable is, i hate to say, disingenuous.
Killers have no reason to loop there once the generator has been completed in that area.
Those buildings are known to be nerfed ie Haddonfield (Best killer map rn).

Bhvr makes soloq miserable.
Wonders why people don't want to stay in trails.
State they have no plans to fix this.
I'd say a pretty good job so far.

Survivors can see the killer's shadow too, if anything it makes shack harder to play for killer
Why would the killer be outside while the survivor is inside of shack? That's a serious missplay.
The survivor has shack pallet and the window to play with while the killer is behind a wall.

You can? Does it change something about how the tile is being played? I know the location of the survivor most of the time when playing shack. Still doesnt give me a hit or even the pallet. M1 gotta brute force that structure…
Yeah. I can see which direction they going on the long wall. Can easily cut them off knowing whether they double back or not.

They've made killer's powers slow down when camping. They should just slow down his shock to give survivors a chance.

That sounds fun. I think I will try it later today.
You can swap out unbreakable for ds/otr. You Kobe right infront of killers and they always take the bait.
Next thing they know, all the gens have popped.
You can even get away with just slippery meat and ask in lobby if everyone can bring luck offerings.
-
Didn't we move on from antiloop? Now it's just general multitasking killers. Last 2 killers have 3 different powers.
It's not anti loop killers being an issue. More that they add anti loop killers then kill loops in the same breath.

Better for who? Red ranks were a complete sweatfest with everyone whining about whatever broken BS the other side used. The people who deranked to avoid the sweaty reds did enjoy stomping the genuine green/yellow players, but I doubt the latter appreciated it much. And brown rank newbies had the fun of trying to learn the game while getting steamrolled by full meta P3 veterans who got to start from the bottom just because they took a break for a few months. How is what we have now worse than all that?
Those in red ranks belonged there. There would be no severe weak link and so games could be played.
People didn't dc as much as they wanted to keep red rank.
Waiting for your equal in a competitive setting is justified. 10 mins is fair, streamers can do other things to make content besides steamrolling thru 12 year olds.

No mither, up the ante and slippery meat with unbreakable is fun. Use a luck offering.

Problem is that most of the main buildings you can reach after being hit from most of the map away with the exception of some killers, and what do you do when the whole team knows this and keeps running to them? Unless you catch someone injured you’ll never get any pressure as they’ll just run to safety you don’t have time to waste running as killer and then reset/heal.
As if. No one in soloq knows how to chain a loop nvm running main structures perfectly.
15 mins ago I had a Haddie drop the corner pallet by the freezer room and then didn't even loop that correctly. She then proceeded to do no gens, leave me to die on hook 2 stages and then left with sole survivor.
-
These videos from tatorhead will be irrelevant soon. Look at Decimated Borgo and The Unknowns map for examples of how BHVr are balancing maps now.
SwAmp and haddonfield got reworked recently, and while their main buildings were untouched, there are massive dead zones in both maps corners essentially making the map even smaller.
Smart killers will leave players who are using main buildings/strong loops and go for the the rest of the map that is just 50/50.
-
Last night I had a hacker and a lag switcher.
Great stuff.

Not at all. Chucky is about mechanical skill while SM is just press button and get major advantage.
Some chuckys never miss, the rest just get mowed down. So I assume you have to practice alot like nurse.

This is just not true. I play SoloQ and SWF, 2-man, 3-man and 4-man.
100% on 3 and 4 man we have a significant advantage. Depending on what killer we get, we know which one of us is best at running them, we have constant communication, and I definitely get more escapes with SWF than SoloQ.
Communication is an advantage, and it’s a very significant one. So to claim that SWF doesn’t have as much of an advantage as people make out is just ignorant. I would say that not every single SWF has the same advantage. A 2 man are going to be coordinated amongst themselves, but they are still dealing with two random players. A 3 man has more advantage than the two men and the 4 man has the most advantage. There are also situations where you can get two separate two mans but that’s just going into a whole Nother thing.
Fact is, outside of adding a voice chat to SoloQ, nothing will ever bring it to be comparable with SWF.
Swf are PEOPLE.
Nt everyone does callouts.
Nt everyone is good at looping.
Fun is subjective.
4 people chatting while playing dbd is different to clockwork call out squads.
Tbh the most fun I've had in swf was with people who were having fun not sweating.

Thing is the boots minimally affect his loop curve. The 90 degree your talking about can be done with and without the boots. The boots are only used for map traversal while not bumping into virtually everything on some maps.
Then he's still strong.
I also play with him and I'd rather be able to make hard turns on loops than just map traversal for stealth Billy downs.
-
Plague is really strong wdym?

They can keep spiked boots as is if they reduce his bit box.
Pc users had no trouble doing 90° turns making looping redundant.

You are the one who is confidently incorrect. Look up what a standard deviation is. If it's within 1 standard deviation of the mean, in this case 40-60%, then it's fine.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/SQQWMUFOL86F/image.png
Assuming the data has a normal distribution - and there is no reason it wouldn't - technically a Killer's winrate being 65% or 45% is also within standard deviation of normal… so OK according to the balance team. Now, the data is skewed, sure, towards Killer bias. On purpose. That doesn't mean it's not in balance though, it means the data has a long tail… which is also a type of normal distribution.
The game is balance at 60/40. You are tripping. And if there's still an issue, then the Devs will address it. Now please stop pretending your error is a fact; the human brain is notoriously bad at stats but actual statistical methodology doesn't lie.
Idk about their stats. They said low mmr chases are average 1 min while high mmr is 70 seconds.
HOW?
-
The posts are always dead giveaways to users bias.
It's obvious you haven't played Decimated Borgo as survivor.
However, now that the fog has cleared(in maps) WoO usage should die down a bit.
-
Also make it so you can pallet stun survivors.
-
Instant inputs for movement translate to that yes.
Survivors have almost no delay in momentum when turning or initiating movement. Same with killer and they can control hits better, think Oni or Blight.
-
Its not like Sm mains didn't know their killer was hated.
Its a live service game that chances all the time.
If you invested your time in a character like that, thats on you.

Bring Hex: Third seal.
Now go have fun.

Aside from lethal, BBQ, undying, and eruption, aura revealing perks are anything but obvious.
You don't know the killer has darkness revealed from the aura read, you have to see them open a locker, which may just be reloading for some killers. And unless you see exactly that action it's indistinguishable from BBQ, but the counter doesn't work. Just as an example.
But this also misses the entire point with the distortion nerf: if you want to avoid having your aura read, you have no real options now. BBQ is the only aura perk with a telegraph so you can hop in a locker before it triggers. Unless you stay in a locker all game, which is what stealth survivors will do now.
Aura reading in 2024 doesn't have skillful counter play. It's not 2020 anymore and BBQ is the only thing to really worry about, and you just have to play around it. The counter play is to block aura reading, because auras are insanely common now. Which is exactly why people pushed for the distortion nerf in the first place.
Maybe now that stealth has been obliterated, bhvr can make loops a bit more viable.
If not then I guess everyone has to be godtier loopers.
-
@Iron_Cutlass said:
Hiding your aura isnt helpful anymore when I can just see your scratchmarks on the other side of the map.

True, but it's getting nerfed. I'm surprised it stayed this long having both effects.

I would just like to say that I downloaded this game 3 weeks ago and in all those 3 weeks I’ve only escaped 2 times on survivor. I’m not good at the game, I’m trying to be better but I also don’t have access to any of the other survivors. And when a game looks hopeless yes I kill myself on hook. I usually just get tunneled out anyway. I seriously try to loop and get better but not winning is taking a toll on me. I don’t even know if I want to continue playing this game. I just can’t win on survivor. And with every game that goes by I don’t feel myself getting better. I don’t know really how to loop and I go against these killers that are just so oppressive and on top of me. I just can’t compete. Is this normal for a new survivor to go through?
It's normal now. But it wasn't not long ago. I could have my friends join and they have a good time. Killers would give them hatch knowing they are beginners. That never happens anymore.
Unfortunately mmr has made this game far sweatier than it used to be and so best is to watch survivor main content creators and learn how to run tiles. Also you would have much more fun finding friends on dbd discord but just know the community is pretty fickle and gives a glimpse into what dbd would be like with voice chat.
Playing custom games with friends will help also.
Also try playing killer to see how other surivors play and you will learn fast if your using an m1 killer.
I've seen survivors with 300 hrs cook.
-
So she can still make you broken for wanting to loop? That and 10% hindered were just not fun.
-
I then understood you from the start. I'd call DS a crutch perk as it gives you a second chance to waste time. But that doesn't mean tm will do anything with that time. Same goes for Bloodlust, u can get it and get the down succesfully while no gens pop cause of potatoes.
WoO is a crutch cause your not paying attention and planning your movements so u need yellow boxes everywhere.
For my definition crutch perk/mechanic = catchup mechanic/perk. I've played this game b4 all these qol mechanics were implemented and did fine and continue to do so.
Tbh I'd be happy if they removed WoO entirely as it's just giving bad survivors a reason to play and it doesn't actually help against good Killers as they know how to mindgame.
I played Demo, Ghostface, Billy, Nurse, Trapper mostly b4 Bubba arrived and some others that feel good on controller. Yes, back then I needed Bloodlust no doubt.

As usual you completely ignored and avoided the core of my point.
Bloodlust is not equivalent. It's a catchup mechanic for Killers with no chase power so chases do not go on for an eternity. It 100% is still needed as long as maps like GoJ exist.
The only Killers Bloodlust should be removed from, and even that's a bad idea, is Killers that really do not need to mindgame around tiles played correctly.
Please, play more Killer and play enough Killer before you reach these conclusions. Not loop-cancelling or strong ones, either. Play enough basic M1 Killer before you make these biased claims.
I'm struggling to understand your argument for WoO being an autopilot perk then? You can play as killer, not mindgame, get bloodlust and get the down without a braincell needed.
Your talking from a Ghostface pov and I Bubba. Our experiences will be vastly different.
But if we are talking about sides having braindead crutches, let's remember the others.

Legions rework is the perfect example of punishing solo Q with the silly addon changes which punish mending alone as opposed to rewarding multi hits.
I don't think others may share my experience, but the EU servers are torture right now.I've been getting SM every 3rd match. It's like devs release her stats and now everyone want to play her thinking they will get autowin. Which is usually the case with soloq. The problem, Paternal, isn't that just new players at low MMR are using WoO. They can't truly use it effectively.
The problem is that experienced players use it as free mapwide info with no consequence or drawback to always know exactly where certain resources are at any given time, and that's just too much information for a perk meant only for new Survivors to learn tiles. It's too free, with too much info. It doesn't improve looping, it makes looping trivial and creates an autopilot scenario. Plus it can trick people into learning bad habits, as Lights Out and Chaos Shuffle showed us - look how many people started to fumble and falter at loops without their WoO.
At some point you need to know loops yourself and how to handle a tile. WoO can actively hinder that. That's the issue with the perk. As you said being a good Surv means running tiles well. Using WoO tricks you into "run yellow to yellow and predrop" gameplay that half the Killer cast can turn into a weakness, and the other half can just mindgame you over all while you destroy resources for your team. It looks like a good pick, but it's a detriment to any team against a Killer with half a brain. And it's also just… the most boring form of chase imaginable. Try learning mindgames and checkspots, perhaps instead of WoO?By that logic, can we remove bloodlust? As it serves the same purpose and was a bandaid to infinites. Now that maps are smaller, brighter and scratchmarks have been made more visible, I see no need in the mechanic.
-
WoO is popular because it's part of core gameplay as survivor that and doing gens.
Being a good survivor means learning tiles and how to run them correctly.
The perk mostly benefits low level players. High level players know tile spawns and scout used resources.
If you think WoO is ruining your games, wait till you go against survivors that all have the same perks that punish killer snowball tactics, ie ds, unbreakable. They don't waste perk slots..
