The simple truth is we are NOT RESPONSIBLE for ensuring the fun of other Players. We aren't even capable of that feat. People get out of games, like anything else, what they put into them. This is a full contact, PVP game wherein one side (Serial Killers) are trying to eliminate the other side (Victims who want to be Survivors). We should all, both sides, play HARD. Do everything you can to win within the rules. The only things you should not do are:
- Don't hack or use lag switches.
- Don't disconnect during a game; if you start it, finish it.
- Don't be a jerk, i.e. be humble in victory and gracious in defeat.
This is a competitive game, and that is where the fun comes in. People who do not enjoy the competition, and who throw tantrums or get upset when they don't win, should probably find another hobby. Sometimes you eat the bear, and sometimes he eats you. Win or lose, no matter how badly, should not impact your enjoyment.
Exactly. This should be common sense and shouldn't even have to be said. When I first joined this forum, it was to try to gain knowledge and advice. I quickly realized this is a forum for people to whine and complain, even though it accomplishes nothing. The only reason I occasionally come back is to see killers and survivors cry and argue with each other, just for s.a.g.
It's so repetitive and obnoxious though that I take a hiatus for a few months. It's like a broken record playing the same song for 2 or 3 years or hearing the same story every single day.
-
Neither side should DC. If you can't complete a game unless it goes your way, you probably shouldn't play at all and should definitely grow up a bit. My ideal gaming experience would be a match where I don't get camped or tunneled, and where my team mates work as an effective team and aren't sandbagging potatoes. When that doesn't happen I still roll with the punches because it is what it is, and I'm aware that I am not in total control of the matches I find. I go into matches HOPING I survive, not expecting it.
It's really not that hard to accept a loss and move on. I don't understand why some people have so much trouble being adults about a video game and learning to accept defeat, no matter how annoying it is. And at the end of the day, DCing is against the rules. Follow the rules and put on your big boy pants. (Btw I'm referring to people in general, not directing this towards you.)

”when things don’t go my way, I quit.”
Pretty much. It's funny seeing people actually trying to justify rage quitting, and it's sad that they actually believe being a baby is justified.

Why do you care? Why do you make a post on it? It's no secret that the dbd community is extremely toxic... It shouldn't surprise you that someone would negative rep you eventually, no matter what you do. You can literally just delete the comment, I don't see the need to make a whole post about it...
..
Because some people need to whine and [female dog]. The amount of crying and complaining on this forum is ridiculous. A lot of the posts are sickening and biased up the wazoow, from both sides. I think the saddest part is that all the whining and strongly worded posts on here amount to little to no change. It's just a bunch of salty players expressing their feelings and receiving validation from other salty players.

You're stating your opinion as absolute fact. That's why literally every reply was a rebuttal to your claims. Some people enjoy playing stealthy and are pretty decent at it. You enjoy being bold and being chased. It's your preference and it's the style of play you enjoy. Seems like everyone on here is mature enough to realize that what they like may not be favored by everyone. People have different preferences and different skills others may not have. Think you're hot s.ugar h.oney i.ce t.ea [wish I could type the real word] because you're good at being chased? Good for you, just don't shove your narrative down people's throats and expect everyone to like what you like. It's really not that hard to comprehend. Your opinion is just that, an opinion.

Body blocking and survivors colliding with each other can actually be of benefit to a killer. I've been downed plenty of times trying to vault through a window or over a pallet, but another survivor was in the way and I couldn't vault it in time. If survivors could phase walk through each other, then survivors could all vault through a window at the same time. That makes no sense. Huge downside from the killer's perspective. Also, if they walk through each other, and you swing at them, who would get hit?

Fix maps, then balance killers, then matchmaking and the game health will improve significantly.
It was obvious he was trolling. If he was being altruistic and trying to give me chase points he wouldn't have downed me less than 10 seconds after he intentionally let me wiggle free. I've had killers that are cool and will let you escape or farm. This was not the case. The point being that this notion that all killers are pure and all survivors are toxic trolls isn't true and reeks of bias. Both sides have toxicity, and both sides have decent players. You can argue back and forth which side has the most toxicity, but let's not be pretentious.

Yeah, no. In the past 7 Survivor Games, I have only fought rank 13-18 killers as a purple ranked survivor. Only one death in EVERY game. One DC to rob the killer of a kill. Flashlight clicking, teabagging ######### all over the place. No, killers aren't the toxic ones.
2 days ago I played a match where the doctor held the game hostage, knowing I wouldn't want to DC because of the penalty. After killing 3 of my team mates, he downed me. The end game hadn't been triggered yet, and neither of us knew where the hatch was. Instead of hooking me, he picked me up, dropped me, picked me up, dropped me, picked me up until I would wiggle free. After I would break free he would chase me and down me, then repeat the process all over again. It lasted 8-10 minutes until I stopped trying and he finally got bored and decided to hook me. It was obvious he was trying to troll me, with the intention of me ending up DCing or staying and dealing with the frustration. I don't tea bag, I don't use flashlights, I didn't even juke him properly, yet he still wanted to give me a hard time for nearly 10 minutes.
Yeah, no. There's toxicity on both sides. Implying that only survivors are capable of being toxic is a fallacy and wishful thinking at best. Both sides have bad apples, just like the vast majority of other games. Which side has more is up for debate, but no, it's not just survivors that can be toxic.
-
Things have been going smoothly for me as well. Haven't seen a DC yet. However, I played a match yesterday where the doctor held the game hostage knowing that I wouldn't want to DC because of the penalty (plus I don't DC anyways.) He killed all 3 of my team mates and got me down, and instead of hooking me, he chose to pick me up, drop me, pick me up, drop me. The end game hadn't been triggered yet, and I hadn't found the hatch, nor did he. When I would wiggle free he would chase me and down me again. Then repeat the process. This went on for what felt like 8-10 minutes until he finally decided to hook me. I put down the controller and stopped trying, guess he got bored and gave up. I know he was doing it to troll and with the intention of making me DC or sit there frustrated and deal with it. It's a shame that people will find a way to ruin a solution and find new ways to be toxic. I'm not too worried about it, but if this becomes a thing I hope something can be done about it. Reporting doesn't seem to be very effective. Other than that things went fine.
-
Because I like to make my own decisions and try what works for me. I don't take people's opinions/anecdotal experiences as absolute fact. What I find fun and useful, others may not and vice versa. It's good to have different advantages you can utilize properly. I think it's fun to try different things and learn how to use them, kind of a challenge. If it's not for you, then now you know from experience and can try something else. And given the fact that this game changes things/nerfs things consistently, it's probably not a good idea to become totally reliant on a certain perk. Then you'll be one of those people crying and threatening to leave the game because your crutch got changed or nerfed. Switch things up every now and then and acquire new skills, is what I say
-
I'm terrible with flashlights. I can never aim properly. I never invested the time in learning how to use it, and I don't really like them enough to want to try
-
Speak for yourself. I use bond, deliverance, self care and lithe, and I'm still capable of avoiding the killer, hiding and being stealthy. Not all the time of course, and maybe not as much as I could with those perks, but it definitely is possible and does exist....? It's kind of a matter of knowing when to run, when to hide, anticipating the killer's movements, and using your environment to your advantage. Not just the perks you have. Last night I played 4 games where the killer didn't see me ONCE 😂. Kept circling trees and objects as the killer was searching the area for survivors. In one match, the killer came 3 times to a gen I was working on, and I kept stopping and crouch walking and circling the gen when they would come to break it. It took them four times to notice me because I messed up on anticipating their movement and went counterclockwise, then I got chased into the cornfields and did a loop, lost the killer and went back and popped the gen. We escaped and I only got smacked once.
Stop thinking that your experiences are the absolute representation of dead by daylight experiences. Just because you can't do something or have trouble with something doesn't mean it's the same for everyone or "doesn't exist." Maybe you should start trying more to gain experience and skill in avoiding the killer. You know what they say about practice
-
I let go if I notice that my team mates aren't actually doing anything. If my teammates are working on gens or being chased, or if I'm being face/proxy camped, I will wait it out and see. Those are valid reasons to not unhook someone, obviously. However, if the killer is nowhere near me, no one (or only one person) is working on gens, no one (or only one person) is being chased, and not ONE of my teammates is moving towards my direction and simply sneaking or wandering around the map aimlessly, I will let go. If I've already been struggling for a bit, and they're still [messing] around and not even being productive, I see no point in continuing to struggle and wait for them to decide when and IF they're going to help. Screw the extra blood points and good luck.
There's no reason I should be on the hook that long if you're not working on gens, not being chased, and the killer is nowhere near me. You don't have to be a seasoned player or God like survivor to know when it's appropriate and safe to unhook someone, it's pretty much common sense. I let go not because it's a matter of "punishing" the survivors, but because it's a matter of these guys don't know how to be an effective team, or they simply don't give a [crap]. I take the loss and move on to another match where the survivors understand the concept of an effective team, common sense and decency.
-
Bond is good for solo queues because it lets you know where your team mates are, which can be of benefit to you since there's no communication going on. I'm working on getting it as a teachable perk. You get to know what gen a teammate is working on and assist them to speed things up. You get to know where someone is being chased and where the killer is, which lets you know if it's safe to keep working on a gen. You get to know if a survivor is bringing a killer directly towards you during chase, (intentionally or accidently) so you can get away and gain some distance, or try to help them if you choose. You get to know where a survivor is if they're not contributing and waiting for the team to die to get the hatch escape. (That's when I come in and start slamming lockers, vaulting and following them to give away their position lol) And of course you can go to injured survivors and quickly heal them. It's pretty useful. I always ran empathy for the ability to see survivors, but empathy is only for injured survivors. Bond is the better option
-
I can understand being annoyed about how fast gens get done. I can understand not agreeing with gen speeds and thinking they should be fixed. That's an opinion that can be understood, even if you don't agree with it. What I don't understand is when killers get mad at the survivors for completing gens quickly to win the match. The main objective for survivors is to complete generators as quickly as possible, survive and escape. The longer it takes to complete the gens, the more at risk you are of being downed and hooked, especially for people that aren't very skilled at looping and evading killers. No [bad word for poop] completing gens quickly is used as a tactic. "Do gens slowly so I can hook some of you" is not something that a survivor is going to agree with LOL. Just like it's not your prerogative to accommodate the survivors and play a certain way to please them, the same goes for survivors vs killer.
The objective is to escape and survive, not pander to the killer's wants and needs. I personally don't shame/criticize killers when they use certain perks, add ons, characters etc because they are a part of the game, and it's just the way the game functions, even if I don't like it. Even camping and tunneling is something you're technically allowed to do, which is why I don't DC or complain on the forums about it because it's just the way it is. It's annoying as all hell, but it's allowed and just the way it is. Can't control the way people play if it's legit/accepted. At that point it's just whining with no beneficial outcome.
Why get mad at the killers and criticize them for killing me a certain way if they're playing legit strategies/using legit items and their main objective is to kill me? Why get mad at survivors for trying to quickly get out, escape and survive when it's their main objective? If you're going to be mad, be mad at the devs and people that made the game the way it is, not the people that are playing the game and using what's available to them to sway the odds. Btw, if you feel the need to tunnel or camp, go for it. It REALLY annoys me, and I think it's douchey and sweaty, but at the end of the day it's not your duty to play a certain way for me, and it's not against the rules. Kill me.

It's funny you post this because I was literally thinking not so long ago about how flawed this game is from both killer and survivor perspectives, and I was wondering who would buy this game now knowing the state it's in. The answer is no, I would not recommend it. Not only has this game had its fair share of bugs over the years, but a year ago (on ps4) it would take an hour to an hour and a half to find a match with 3 to 4 survivors swf. Absolutely ridiculous. It took them more than half a year to fix this. It was improved not so long ago, but it still needs work. It seems like things are always getting fixed but things are always messing up. Not to mention the general toxicity/[female dog]iness on both sides in this community. Survivors DCing when they get hooked/killed early, Survivors DCing when a certain map/perk or add on is used. Killers DCing when survivors pop gens early, killers DCing when survivors cleanse a totem. The flawed mechanics of the game and sense of entitlement/sense of righteousness this community is known for makes this seem like a waste of money and really unappealing.

Yes, they are on console. Last night it took me 45 minutes to find a match solo. About a year ago on ps4, with a 4 man group it would literally take ONE HOUR to an HOUR AND A HALF to find a match. They fixed it no so long ago, and it was running okay for a while. Now it seems like it's heading down that road again.

You can only really complain about facecamping. Getting tunneled means nothing if you are running DS, or are good in a chase. I can usually punish any killer trying to tunnel me off the hook, just by running them around for so long my team can finish a lot of gens.
If anything, getting chased all game is optimal if you are good at looping, because you will know what areas all the pallets have been used at, and can make sure you use them efficiently.
It is pretty annoying to run a killer for 4-5 gens, just to get hit once with NOED, and die for it though.
I misread the OPs comment and thought that he said "toxic behavior that does get banned." I re read it and realized he said "doesn't get banned." I was like what? Hahaha

The devs dont do anything about it as they are legit strats. Not good strats, but strats nonetheless. Easiest way to punish that behavior is to just do gens
Yeah, I re read the comment and realized that I read it wrong. He said toxic behavior that doesn't get banned. I thought he said does get banned. I edited my original comment to make it clear
-
Is it really not accepted by the Devs? I'm honestly asking, I don't know. I always get annoyed when killers camp or tunnel me, but I always thought it was a legit strategy/style of play that is annoying/weak but not against the rules of the game. I figured if it were there would be some sort of preventative measure or at least some sort of penalty or punishment. I'm wondering now, does anyone know for a fact it's condemned behavior and frowned upon? That changes my whole perspective lol
EDIT: never mind, just realized you said toxic behavior that doesn't get banned. I thought you said does get banned. Never mind lol

I think they should do what For Honor does. If you rage quit, you can't play for 15 minutes. I think they should do this and tweak it by increasing the time you can't play the more you rage quit.

"Absolutely ridiculous" What did I say that was ridiculous? Treating somone else with respect should be a given. Also, what's obvious, is that playing the game as intended and not being a dick isn't toxic. It's a game. Believe it or not, this is not actually life or death.
Yeah, you should be respectful towards people. What's ridiculous to me is the notion that you have to play a certain way to accommodate and spare someone's feelings. If someone is that sensitive that they can't handle certain styles of (legit) gameplay, or even tbagging, then maybe they shouldn't be playing dead by daylight or competitive games. And avid gamers should already know the general toxicity in the gaming network. The only toxic things that the OP mentioned was tbagging and rage quitting, which is my main point. Feel free to read my other comment and the comments of others about why everything else was just whining from the OP.
The person you replied to was correct. Why should we feel bad about doing our jobs as survivors? As I mentioned before, everything the OP mentioned was not toxic, except for rage quitting and tbagging. I'm sorry if the OP and others alike don't like it when a survivor is repairing a gen while they're not there or when team mates gen rush. It's part of the gameplay, and it's exactly what you're supposed to do. I'm not going to do gens with the killer in front of me and sabotage myself because that's the way the killer thinks that I should play.
"Believe it or not, this is not actually life or death." Exactly. So why so sensitive about it? You mentioned that ethically speaking you should care and consider the killer's feelings because "it's called having empathy." I have empathy for others, but I do not feel bad if a killer loses in a video game or if they don't like my style of play. It's a game. I don't expect people I'm playing against to accommodate my wants in a game unless it's against the rules of the game. Just like I don't care if a player tbags me. Is tbagging rude? Yes. Do I let it bother me? No. It's not that hard to not take [expletive] on console seriously. Less than an hour, and I'll have forgotten about it.
-
Some of your complaints are simply part of the gameplay. Gen rushing is a strategy. The whole purpose of playing survivor is to escape and survive. Shocker, right?. Completing generators as quick as possible is the goal when playing survivor. They allow more than one person on a gen and speed up the repairing for a reason.... They also give altruistic points for a reason.
Also, you think it's toxic when survivors repair generators while you're not in the area? Are you [expletive] kidding me? "Yeah, let me wait for the killer to come near me and see me before I work on this gen. I'll definitely get it done that way." Do you not realize how [expletive] ridiculous that sounds? Unbelievably ridiculous.
You said it's toxic for someone to unhook someone when you leave the area? Umm no. It's smart is what it is. Unhooking someone in front of a killer is an easy way to get your team mate down, even with BT. Sorry if people don't want to give you easy downs and have their team mates get tunneled to death. Also, you said you don't want to camp, and implied that unhooking survivors in front of you leaves you no choice but to camp and tunnel. I can sort of get that, but at the same time you have the option to go after the person with full health and not the previously hooked survivor.
When it comes to infinite loops, you should already know when to break the chase and move on to another survivor. It should be common sense that if you're chasing the same survivor for 5+ min, you're giving the other survivors plenty of time to complete gens while you're wasting time trying to get that down. Apply map pressure. Patrol gens and don't chase a survivor for half of the game.
Tbagging and rage quitting are toxic, but everything else you said is just you whining because you didn't win. "I just want to have fun." No. You just want to win. When you feel entitled to win, everything is toxic.

You want to know why you should care? It's called having empathy. Basic human decency. There is a human being playing against you that should be respected just as you should be.
How bold of you to outright state you will continue being toxic. How deplorable...
Absolutely ridiculous. The game is called "Dead by Daylight", not "Spare Your Feelings by Daylight." It's a competitive game where the objective is to either kill or try not to be killed. If someone is that sensitive that you need to consider their feelings during a competitive video game, it's probably best that they stay clear of competitive video games and Dead by Daylight. I hear roblox is good for children.
