  • Yeah, as an OCE player I've had this issue consistently since Vecnas midchapter. I recently got back into DBD a few days ago and every single game has frequent or constant rubber banding and ping spikes.

This is definitely not the fault of my internet, since it doesn't do this for other games and I'm pretty sure that having bad internet doesn't put you in the same match as people who live either in a different continent or on the literal opposite side of the planet from you (I have been matched with so many people from other countries it's not even funny anymore)

And even when I'm placed in a match with other Australians, it's still the same ping and rubber banding issues.

  • The fact this is still happening just baffles me.

Who at BHVR thought that this was a good idea? What were they trying to achieve with this? Why is there no mention of this in any of the patch notes? Why have they not reverted it?

If they thought about this change for like 2 seconds, they would've realised how stupid it is. Yet they still went through with it and it doesn't look like they're changing their minds anytime soon, which really sucks.

  • Basically, it's just a hungry thing that feeds off emotions

Specifically, any action that gives bloodpoints feeds The Entity, according to a dev stream from a while back

It's probably doing this to grow in power so it can do something when it grows strong enough, but we can't really tell what it'll use all of its power for yet.

  • Auric cells are carried over (I think)

The DLC will be carried over. Although it won't say you purchased the chapter on steam, you will still keep the characters on both platforms without having to buy it on both

  • If I'd had to guess, I'd say because of 2v8.

2v8 brought back players that haven't played in a while and those people are just trying the new content.

  • They were absolutely cheating.

EGC only occurs in 2 situations; When a gate opens (which requires all gens to be powered)

Or when hatch is closed (which it couldn't have been since you never closed it)

Gates take 15~ seconds to open. So unless they had Sole Survivor, Wake up and an exhaustion perk to run out when the gate opened, they were 10000000000000% cheating.

Even if that wasn't enough of a giveaway, the fact that the last 3 gens suddenly had 10% progress each is a dead giveaway. Realistically, in the time it would take to travel to each gen and repair it by 10% (which NOBODY ever does) they would've been able to get a gen to around 70%, which is basically completed by that point.

Also, since this happened when there were only 2 survivors left, only 1 could've been doing those gens. Definitely cheating

  • Normally I'm optimistic that these types of changes will be reverted. But with how long the servers have been merged for without any updates or information on reverting the change, it really makes it hard for me to tell myself that it will be fixed soon, because I genuinely don't think it will be by this point. Might even be permanent for all we know.

Also just wanna mention that this change was never actually documented in any of the patch notes. To even be officially told about it, you'd have to email BHVR and ask "Why's the ping way higher?" and "Why am I playing with people outside my region?" and hope you get an email back

Now, I have 2 ridiculous theories about why it was undocumented.

    1. I'm thinking that it's a test to see how severely server merging effects ping and how much it could reduce queue times. And maybe they will revert it and never do it again due to the extremely negative (and honestly deserved) backlash, since this is honestly the worst change they have ever made.
    2. They knew how much backlash it would probably cause if people outside these regions learnt that basically half the Earth can't play this game with reasonable ping, so they made it a silent and undocumented change, that way content creators wouldn't make videos on it which would further increase backlash. This doesn't answer why they even merged them in the first place though.

Idk, I'm just trying to find ways to cope with this stupid change. Really sucks that this change happened a few weeks after I got back into the game from a year long break, because now I can't even play it since every single game gives me 150ms-300ms ping.

  • If I did lose progress, I didn't notice it. Which I probably would've since I had everyone unlocked before merging and still have them after.

  • No, that's his terror radius in tier 1. On release he wasn't undetectable in tier 1 and instead had a 6m terror radius. If you could find a way to remove the undetectable in tier 1 today, he would have a 6m terror radius without perks or addons.

Surprised they never changed it. I guess it's still technically correct though, but that does make me wonder why he has his tier 2 and 3 movement speed but his tier 1 terror radius in his bio. Seems kinda weird to do it that way.

  • Very late answer, but from my personal experience, it goes like this for toolboxes:

    Common-Uncommon

    Uncommon-Commodious toolbox

    Commodious-Alex's toolbox

It might be random, but it has always been in this order for me

  • While I may not have a definitive answer for the first question, I can answer the other 2

    2. Yes for the DLC, no for auric cells. Probably because if it gave you the auric cells on both, it would also have to take them away on both when you use them, which is probably very difficult to do. Also probably difficult for legal reasons because it's a paid currency.

    3. As someone who did merge from PS4 to PC, yes, you do keep them.

  • As a semi Xeno main, no, Xeno isn't even close to being weak. Even in the absolute worst case scenario, he's still a mid-high B tier killer

I'd have to guess his killrate is so low due to how punishing turrets are if you don't know how to play around them. If you don't know how to play around them, your only tool is the tunnels, which just makes you a worse Dredge.

Xeno also has an extremely punishing cooldown if you miss a tail attack, which probably isn't all that helpful to the people struggling with turrets.

  • A mode? Nah, imagine getting old RPD with the upstairs library section. That was abused to all hell due to either being unhookable or being unsaveable. Very frustrating for both ends.

But I reckon they could add an "archived" section to custom games where you can play on older maps. That way the only people that can abuse the busted setups are your friends or bots.

  • There is an unofficial website named "Dbd info"

It uses your steam achievements to accurately calculate how many "whatevers" you have, but it is limited to what the achievements are.

E.g you won't get how many hits you missed since there's not an achievement for that.

If you don't play on steam, it won't work though

  • Couple problems I can see with this

15% isn't enough of a buff for having to completely focus on the generator, since you're so focused you won't be able to look around you to see where the killer may be coming from.

There are so many situations where you HAVE to get off the generator, the most obvious one is the killer comes to your gen. But another one is a teammate comes to your gen and needs a heal, but you can't because getting off the gen takes away 15% of its progress.

Some people would repair the gen for 2.5ish seconds and then get off and then back on to not have to do the continuous skillchecks while still getting the 15% repair bonus, so it's just a buff

Here's a rework idea I spend like 15 mins making:

Remove the 15% repair bonus speed

Reduces the size of skillchecks by 30% (like unnerving presence)

Whenever you get a skillcheck, you will get 3 consecutive skillchecks after that (so like 3 merciless storm skillchecks, but they have great skillcheck zones)

Hitting a great skillcheck will give you 1 more continuous skillcheck, up to a maximum of 3 more (6 total) and repair the gen by an additional 3%

Hitting a good skillcheck repairs the gen by an additional 1%/2%/3% depending on the perks tier

Missing a skillcheck will cause you to suffer from the blindness status effect for 60 seconds and will reveal your aura to the killer for 10 seconds.

  • Steve is probably the goofiest one. David, Ash and Dwight are probably the second most goofy ones.

Lisa Garland (legendary skin for Cheryl) is so obnoxious, I hate it.

Mikaela could be bad, but it's been awhile since I've heard her's and I'm too lazy to do it myself.

Jill is very 50/50 depending on which scream she does, because it's either absolutely nothing special or pretty obnoxious. If she keeps screaming with the obnoxious one, she might be the worst.

Edit: Renato is also worth checking out, it's so weird and idk if it's obnoxious or funny.

  • I mean, this is kinda already possible with the right perks.

Those perks being Game Afoot and Nemesis(not the killer) (and also Lethal Pursuer if you want a longer aura duration)

Although not the exact same, it's pretty close and probably the closest we'll get for a while.

Anyway, for my thoughts on this perk idea. Yeah I think it's good, if it stays tied to basic attacks it should be good but not overpowered.

  • No, there's no compensation at all.

Unless you count the charm that comes with buying the DLC, but that's not really compensation because you would have got it if you just bought the DLC.

But other than that, there is no compensation with ingame currency.

  • The only thing I can think of is to make sure both are updated to the most recent version then open and close the game on both platforms. That may help.

Now I don't use Xbox so idk if this is a thing, but you could also try to check the status/integrity/whatever of the downloaded content/DLC on Xbox. If these don't work though, you might have to wait for support.

  • You will not be given anything to compensate, the only thing you get out of it is any cosmetics or charms that are tied to purchasing the DLC.

Example, Chucky's Good guy box charm. If you buy Chucky with auric cells, you won't get the charm. But if you buy the DLC, whether or not you own the character already, you will get the Good guy box charm.

Again, you will not be compensated with any in-game currency for this purchase.

  • Based off the ones you currently have, I'd recommend Demogorgon the most because he's kind of a combination of Dredge and Wesker, so assuming you like dredge and wesker you'll probably like Demogorgon. (Demo's perks are also pretty decent, so that's a bonus)

For my second pick, I'd choose either Blight or Oni since they are pretty similar to each other and you seem to like killers with mobility and chase based off the ones you have. But I'd recommend Blight more because he is way more consistent and reliable (and easier to control) than Oni. But if you can get the ball rolling with Oni early, you've basically won if you don't make to many mistakes. They both suck on indoor maps though, so be wary of that.

Nemesis and Xenomorph are sorta the "honorable mentions" here, so it's up to you if you wanna get them because they are

Nemesis is pretty inconsistent with getting to tier 2 (the buffs he's getting might help though) and the zombies don't work like 90% of the time. But just like Oni, if you can get the ball rolling early, you have basically become the best pallet shredder in the game while also having a pretty solid anti-loop.

Xenomorph is like Nemesis and Demogorgon, so if you enjoy them, he's probably a solid pick. The problem is, the tail attack is way harder to use and way more punishing than Nemesis' tentacle, but can get hits over things that nemesis couldn't while also not needing to hit the survivors 3 times to down them. The tunnels are also good mobility and info with the footsteps you see if a survivor is moving above you.

But I'd say the turrets are the most discouraging thing about Xenomorph, since if used properly by the survivors, you basically will always have to choose if you keep your power and lose a hit on a survivor, or lose your power but get a hit. If the survivor is injured, just go for the hit in a situation like that, but if they're healthy it's up to you to decide what's the better choice. If you are struggling with them, use the add-ons Lambert's star map and Emergency helmet since they really help and are also his best add-ons.

Now if you're only focusing on the perks of the character, artist and cenobite are probably the ones that you should get because all 3 of their perks are pretty good. But I wouldn't recommend them for their power personally.

  • It's been a thing since 8.0.0, it's gone on for way longer than it should have and I hope they fix it soon

  • Vittorio Toscano is one of the main survivors who leaves the campfire to explore the realm.

There are other beings in the Entity's realm outside of the killers and survivors. The most popular ones being a vampire and a giant spider which are shown in some tome cutscenes

    images.jpeg images (1).jpeg

Also the entity can summon killers into some parts of the realm to try kill any survivors who have wandered to far.

If a survivor is killed either in a trial or while exploring the realms, they will be sent back to the campfire with no memory of any of their experiences. Which makes it basically impossible to make progress considering how dangerous it is outside the campfire. Meaning any survival knowledge you had or progress you made will most definitely be lost if you aren't on guard 24/7.

  • Counterforce could be replaced with something else because totem cleansing doesn't give you that much progress towards the Lightbringer emblem. Just repairing a gen normally gives you a ton of progress towards Lightbringer so you could probably just ignore gen/totem related perks entirely to focus on chase, altruism and not going down.

I'd replace Deja vu and Counter force with perks that could let you escape a chase or increase chase time. You could use something like Finesse and Lithe/Balanced Landing to increase chase time or Champion of Light to help either escape chase, increase chase time or maybe get a flashlight save.

You could also use Troubleshooter so you know which gens you shouldn't bring the killer towards, because you still get points towards Lightbringer while gens are being repaired while you're being chased. Bond is a good alternative to Troubleshooter, so just pick whichever works best for you.

You could choose to avoid perks that require you to be injured because getting injured and then escaping chase loses points. Staying injured also makes it way harder to get the iri Unbroken emblem since going down at all prevents you from getting it. So you could probably take off resilience, but you can continue using it if you want because the chances of you escaping without ever going down are very low.

You could replace We'll make it with Botany knowledge, Empathy, Empathetic Connection, Desperate Measures or No one left behind since Botany and Empathetic Connection are always available and No one left behind also allows you to see the auras of everyone during endgame. Don't use more than one of these kind of perks though since it'd be investing to much into a single category.

Another combo is Dark sense/Wiretap and Fixated/Urban Evasion, which will allow you to see the killer when they're close, which can let you gain lots of points because you can stay out of chase but still be really close to them without having much risk of being found.

Wiretap is a bit more of a dangerous choice, since Nowhere to Hide is a common perk which will let them see you, but it will be usable more often than dark sense. But if you really want to commit to wiretap, you could use blastmine and parental guidance to blind them and then book it without worrying about leaving scratchmarks, assuming parental guidance works with blastmine. If it doesn't, use light weight instead of Parental Guidance.

Kindred is also a great choice in almost all builds, because of the passive info it gives on where the killer or your teammates are, which allows you to know if you should go for a hook save or do a gen.

Alternatively, you could just brute force it until you get iri 1, but that's up to you.

TLDR: Avoid totem and gen perks, Use perks that allow you to see the killer's aura to avoid them or stick close to them. Stealth isn't the worst option, but don't rely on it too much. Be altruistic and don't go down

  • Only thing I can think of is to try verifying the files if you haven't already.

  • I think it only mutes the sound you make coming out of the portals and not the global roaring sound.

If it's supposed to mute both, then it's been bugged for ages.

  • It's an unofficial custom perk icon thing which changes the visuals of perk icons.

The most well known way to get these is on a website named "nightlight"

Edit: Unless you're talking about the perks showing up in that area, in which case idk. Maybe something in the settings?

Also have the devs been made aware that playing as some killers and against some killers on ping is pretty much unplayable? like playing singularity on ping for example is nearly impossible. It seems like a change no-one asked for and no one is enjoying so hopefully it is reverted.

The Devs probably know that, because they've probably played a killer that requires precision while having bad ping. Basically everyone has had at least one experience like that so they're probably able to figure out that "bad ping+precise control to use power=unplayable match"

Yea the que times are even worse i'd argue now because people just permantly dodge lobbies till they guess they are in a lobby of their own server, its completely unhelpful to the experience of either sea or oce survviors. Has anyone made any comments on this like the devs or anything?

Yeah, they have been made aware of this on another post

(idk if links are allowed so I'll just do the second best thing I can think of and share the title of the post)

The title of the post I'm talking about is "OCE / SEA Players forced into laggy lobbies."

This post contains a screen shot of an email from a dev responding to a question about the new servers, the devs name is censored which is probably a good thing so they don't get harassed. This post also goes into much more detail than alot of others I could find.

Another post titled "OCE players being put in SEA and EA servers" is actually pending, meaning that they have seen it and are aware of the complaints, though I wouldn't get my hopes up because it's been pending for a while.

We're probably going to have to wait awhile for this to be resolved so i've been using this time to practice curving on Billy in customs against bots.

  • I think the worst part is the fact that this change wasn't mentioned at all in any patch notes (at least that I could find)

But maybe it was silently added because they're doing a test run on changes like this to see if people notice and how they react to it, meaning it may be reverted and won't happen again? (Probably just wishful thinking though)

  • From what I've gathered, it's an intentional change that happened at some point around versions 8.0.0 - 8.0.2 and wasn't mentioned in any patch notes I could find, meaning it was silently added (which hopefully means it's a test run to see if people notice and how they react to it instead of it being a permanent change, although this is probably just wishful thinking)

This change combines OCE and SEA regions into the same server pool to "reduce queue times" and "find people with a similar MMR to you more easily".

Now what I've noticed, is that it has neither reduced queue times or found players of similar skill to me. The only things this change has done is increase queue times (for me at least) and increase ping of most players to 150ms+

I'd add links to other forum posts and steam discussions that cover this issue in more detail, but this is my second post and I'm not sure if that's allowed. If it is, I will add them later (maybe)

  • I think I know what's causing this, but I may be wrong

This is an "issue" (intended change, sadly) affecting people in the OCE (Oceania. Australia, New Zealand, ect) and SEA (South East Asia) servers (if you are in either, continue reading cuz I'm probably talking about the right thing here)

The intended change was to COMBINE the servers to find players with similar mmr to you easier and reduce queue times

If you are in either of these combined regions, you have probably noticed that nothing has changed about queue times or skill of other players. The only thing you probably noticed is the higher ping caused by these servers being thrown in the same pool as each other.

There are way more people in these regions talking about this and are asking (begging by this point) for this change to be reverted.

I'm not too sure if I can post links to other forum posts or steam discussions covering this issue since this is my first time posting, if I'm allowed I'll add them in another comment here because I have a couple that go into more depth and more complaints
